IMHO Parking is crappy here if the small lot is full. We had to park on the street. I wish we had thought to visit Island Grocery sooner, as most of our grocery shopping was done at either Foodland or Times Market. I think more locals shop here than visitors. The store is bright and big. Great selection of fresh produce and local foods to choose from. There are even a few food trucks situated outside the store. We are frequent visitors to Lahaina, the home of our son's family. This great gem is only about 1/4 off Honoapiialani Hwy, the main road from south Maui to the Kaanapali/Kapalua area. They were one of the first businesses in the burn zone to reopen following the fire. We had been there about 10 days before the fire and were there again just a few weeks after they reopened. There is a cool, refreshing feeling inside and the wonder smell of fresh fruirs and veggies permeates about 1/3 of the store. You will find lots of locally grown fresh vegetables and fruits. Many asian and Hawasin foods are available that will not be found at some otger local stores. The staff is always friendly and happy to help. Yes, aloha is not dead here. I always enjoy just wandering the aisles while my wife shops. If you are hungry, try the food trucks that are in front. read more

Another of many reviews of this great grocery store in Lahaina, focusing on New Zealand green lip mussels this time. They are available boxed on half shell or vacuum packed in plastic whole (my preferred buy) and are delicious. When you open the plastic pack use a fine sieve to drain the juice and use it in your pan when you warm the mussels, it adds a juicy squirt of sea flavour to your broth. I use chipotle stock, or a dash of thai paste, or just lots of garlic and wine and it is divine to dip a french baguette into, accompanied by a green salad. Our favorite grocery store for condo staples in the West side. Not to be missed is their premarinated Teri beef or chicken. Skillet with pile and onions and add a huge pile of rice and feed 4 people for less than 20 bucks!!! Their fish and clams are ono too. Super nice cashiers and helpful staff. read more

Great selections of local foods with good prices. Visit whenever we are on Maui. Also, they have two locations on Maui.

Great for fresh vegetables and simple bentos like spam musubi and rice with chicken or other meats. Most seafood is frozen like some meats. There's no sit down tables or chairs, it's not an eatery and everything is to go like a supermarket. The one thing to remember is to lock your car due to an abundance of homeless people in the area, there's no guards watching the place. read more

Island Grocery Depot has a great selection and prices are usually lower than the other grocery options in the area. You can get bulk restaurant size items here and regular grocery items here. We've learned from our past vacations to Maui to check Island Grocery first for an item before going to Foodland. Be sure to sign up for their frequent shopper program with your phone number. There are now food carts at the entrance of Island Grocery Depot. Aloha Braised offers a variety of delicious local food. We ate there everyday of our last vacation. Loved their food! Wow I really enjoyed coming to this place. Its beautiful and seems bigger than the Kahului location. The shelves were fully stocked which was nice. They seem to have a better and bigger variety of frozen foods available. Get their club card to earn points to save on future purchases. I will be back so I can spend more time here. The thing that didn't suit me was the cashier wasn't friendly or nice she seemed upset when I asked her about the loyalty card. But I'm still rating this 5 stars. read more

Thanks to Yelp, I finally discovered Island Grocery Depot's Lahaina location. It's sort of like a restaurant supply store that is open to the public but you are not required to buy everything in bulk. Since it is only 10 minutes away from our condo, I don't have to worry about not having enough ice or a cooler large enough to get all my perishables back from Costco. What I love about this place aside from it being organized and clean is how they have lots of local foods for sale from Mau`i Cattle Company ground beef to hard to find produce like pohole ferns to Made in Mau`i products like Jan's Maui Upcountry Jams (hope they will carry her Mau`i Onion mustard by next year). I even got a couple of packs of Sun Noodles in an attempt to replicate the garlic noodles I use to find at the Mau`i swap meet. Island Grocery Depot, formerly known as Cash n Carry, is part of Maui's largest distributor of goods (VIP Foodservice), made available directly to the general public with no membership needed. This is the company's second location, with the flagship store located in Kahului. While they don't sell in bulk, their prices are lower than big chain grocery stores. They also cater to Hawaii's large Asian population with specialty foods and ingredients. Other highlights include restaurant supplies and paper goods, alcohol and a wide variety of frozen seafood. THE STORE: Their new digs are slightly larger than the flagship store, though inventory seemed similar. Evident positives were closer parking to the store, a much larger selection of produce and the general feeling of airiness inside. Other than that, I didn't see any advantages over the Kahului location. TIP: IGD has a rewards program, accessible via a physical card or electronically stored card on the App Card app. You earn 1 point per dollar spent, good for monetary amounts off your bill. This was a accidental drive by find. They are similar to Smart & Final shops (restaurant supply) on the Mainland. Their pricing is reasonable, although some items may cost a little more than Safeway, Foodland, but other produce and grocery items can be cheaper, so it all balances out. Produce is fresh and features local offering. It's great because I can buy in bulk without having to be in Costco size bulk. read more

Whenever Costco is too busy, IGD is where I go. They have fresh produce. It's one of two places I go for fresh produce and Tako Poke. They also have bulk items like Costco; maybe a little more money, but not as big of a pain in the ass that Costco can be here on Maui. They have hot food that's really good. There is a schedule for certain items. They have great fried Chicken, pork chops; their kalua pork and pork or beef luau are some of my favorites. It's the best place to get shucked oysters in a jar too. Most people don't realize that most shellfish don't grow here in Hawaii. There aren't any substantial salt marshes where animals like that breed. Anyway, this is my main grocery if I want fresh vegetables at the best price. They have a good mix of small items and bulk. Stopped by recently just to be nosy! This Warehouse grocery store is located in the Lahaina Industrial Park, above the Walgreen's and Foodland Farms and nearby Star Noodles. The parking lot is also right next to the store, unlike the Kahului location, where only a few stalls are adjacent and the remainder seem to be a mile away! Island Grocery Depot is a part of VIP Foodservice, which is a distributor of many food products on Maui. They have a tendency to pass savings on to the customer and I have taken advantage of their great prices on many occasions. Now that this store is open on the West side, I'm envious that Lahaina has a better grocery option than the people who shop in Central Maui! As you walk into this obviously new building, you're greeted by pallets of essentials, including beverages and other goodies. Seemed to me these items were their sale items. Then you can browse the meat chillers, where they have everything from steak to pork butts to chicken thighs. And as you walk in further, their fresh fruit and vegetable section has a great assortment of very affordably priced items. I usually go to IGD for hard to find items such as fresh spices and affordable mushrooms, among the other fruit and vegetables. As I walked up and down the large aisles, I noticed the prices were consistent with the prices in Kahului, which was a nice surprise. I say this because I know some retailers, like Walgreens, price their items differently (usually higher) in their Lahaina location from the ones in Central Maui. Their frozen food aisle had so many items I wanted, I kicked myself for not having a chest freezer! And, the prices on some of these frozen items, like their mini manapua, seemed cheaper than the Kahului location! All in all, I had to force myself to stop looking, because the prices and selections were so good! The employees also seemed very friendly, greeting me and other customers as they stocked the shelves and as I walked through the aisles. Absolutely a waste of your time. The majority of the meats are not local and the fish selection is weak. e.g. they offer Atlantic salmon. FFS! Finding a good grocery store on the island is truly difficult. There are a few organic/natural grocery stores located in Paia and Kihei. For the most part they are all vegetarian. Which is fine since there is a great butcher shop near Paia for meats and fish. See Toohey's butcher shop. This grocery is okay for a few staple items, but that's about it. read more

I love this place! So I was in Lahaina early in the morning and I was starving and in no mood for greasy fast food. I wanted fruit + granola and a bottle of water. I had heard a few of my "west side friends" talk about this place and how awesome it was so I was psyched to try it out. I hopped on Yelp and figured out how to get there--it's a little off the beaten path in an industrial area. I found lots of parking and some is even in the shade--score when you're in the scorching Lahaina sun. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean it was.... the floors were sparkling. It was bright and airy and clean! Everything is organized very well. I found my items quickly and made my way to the register. The lady working it was so friendly and wanted to ensure that I had a successful first experience. A bag of Hawaiian granola, a chunk of ginger, a carton of raspberries and a bottle of water for $11? That's not bad for Lahaina! I was slightly disappointed that 1/4 of my raspberries were already turned, but that's bound to happen when they have to travel across the ocean to Hawaii. This little hidden gem tucked out of the way in an industrial area of Lahaina is not to be missed. They carry all the normal staples of a grocery store at a fraction of the cost, and they have a little of all the things you can't find anywhere else on the island. Looking for 100% lilikoi juice? They have it. That hard to find Mexican spice? They probably have it here. A local Hawaiian food speciality? Guaranteed to find it here unless it's sold out. They have paper products, cleaning supplies, fresh flowers, a meat department, a great beer selection, and a very nice produce section. Not to mention everything is way cheaper than say Safeway or Foodland. They also have fresh fruit slushies and coffee available for purchase by the cup. The slushies are a huge hit with my kids, and come in four flavors. POG, strawberry, pina colada, & banana, and you can mix and match flavors as well. I highly recommend the strawberry and pina colada mix. Conveniently located right by the new bypass entrance, there is plenty of easy parking available, they have plenty of shopping carts to go around, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm very stingy with my money, they're wholesale but sometimes their prices are a bit more than Safeway which is my go to store. Costco still has cheaper products but Island Grocery has more selection of the things I need, everything Asian. Costco stopped selling my Yakisoba noodles, so it was a disappointment that I drove from Lahaina to search for a product not in store.... I haven't had that happen at Island Grocery yet, but even if I did at least it was on the way.. Staff is also super nice, everyone asks if you need help looking for something. The only thing I hope they add is ready to go hot food. On weekends I get lazy to pack food and there's not a lot of places that will open before 8, so I either go in late or pack something lame and starve the day.. read more

Island Grocery has the scale arranged to steal from its customers, I paid $ 6 for a cilantro and everything I bought I weighed at home, I overpaid for everything. It was time to start my work, I could not stop to fix the situation, I could not claim for lack of time. This was at the Lahaina branch, I imagine it is the same in everyone. Safeway enlarged the Lahaina branch and now it has everything more expensive, so I had decided to start shopping at Island Grocery. Yesterday we bought a bunch of ingredients to make a large family dinner at the other place, who didn't have all that we needed, so we stopped here to see if they had what we needed...they had the needed stuff...we then price checked what we had just bought down the road, we had gotten robbed at the other place!! The produce was half the price! Everything we checked was cheaper! The checkout person informed us that they are locally owned and operated and the employees are treated very well! Unless you're rich or deliberately not eating, Foodland is a key place for tourists staying in or near Lahaina. Hardly anyone can eat and drink out all the time. Even if you can, you sometimes just need a rest from restaurants, cafes and bars. If any of this describes you, Foodland is your place. We stayed in Lahaina for a week and Foodland was often our go to place once a day. There's plenty of nice places in Lahaina and beyond, we ate in a bit too. The poke at Foodland is amazing value. They have different varieties which are fantastic. They'll even make you a great poke bowl. You can also get really good pre prepared salads at Foodland. We loved it. read more

We are here for two weeks and found this place by accident as it is away from the main streets and tourist areas. It's actually hidden in an industrial business park, along the the Lahaina bypass road (3000). When we first drove by, I thought it was a wholesaler. When I finally stopped, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the store and the freshness of their produce section. Their meat prices were very reasonable considering they were not sale prices, eg. their boneless rib steaks were cheaper than at Costco. Will definitely shop there again! read more
