This Walmart is just crossing the street from the In-N-Out. We visit this retail store when we shop at the Five Cities or are here for an In-N-Out burger. This location is big and the price is very competitive with other places. In general, the products sold are cheaper than other retailers. However, it is not always the best price. So you have to do some research to get the best valued deals. For your information, nowadays many places do not allow taking pictures or videos inside their store unless you have permission to do so. I was taking a picture while shopping but a young staff member stopped me. She questioned me and asked if I had permission to do so. Manager Zay let one person buy the whole pokemon display and cards. A customer asked to buy just two and he was told no when they the scalper hasn't even swiped his card let alone even scanned all of them. All other stores have a 2 per customer limit but obviously that Zay the manager knew those people. That's just disappointing i hope he gets fired and everyone else involved. read more

I'm so over this store. They lock up nail polish remover and nail files. Cheap stuff behind a glass door. It's a hassle to grab someone to get these opened for product, and then you HAVE to pay for what you want in that department. Last time I was there, buying some cheap Maybelline under eye stuff, the clerk had the nerve to say "It's like Gottchalks where they had the makeup behind the counter." Um, no. This is cheap drugstore stuff, not high-end makeup. I mean, it's Walmart right? I found most of what I needed even though their grocery section was underwhelming to say the least. The highlight for me was our cashier. He seemed genuinely happy to be working and had such great interactions with everyone around him. I didn't catch his name but he made my Kids and I laugh, told a couple jokes, gave some advice since we were visiting the area. All around great dude! He saved this being a 1 or 2 star review since I still spent over $200 at freakin' Walmart (groceries, some beach toys but nothing expensive). Funny anecdote, my kids had grabbed a couple balls (big bouncy ball, basketball) and we're dribbling them as we shopped. They might have run up and down the toy aisles a few times but didn't disturb anyone and didn't cause any damage or knock anything over. They even ran by several employees who just smiled because it was clear they were having fun and not hurting anything. All of a sudden I hear, "NO RUNNING IN THE STORE!". Only to turn and find a toothless wonder of a woman screaming at them for running. Freakin' Karen! Don't ruin the kids' happy vibes because you're a miserable toothless hag - actually changed my review to 3 stars because they slow this low level life form to take over an entire section of the store. I laughed at her and moved on cuz it's not worth wasting my time on people like that! These days wi things if used could kill a few person with no immune system. When I returned it I told the lady to communicate this with the manager because of the safety. Worst Walmart ever! Employees walk around nonchalantly inside the store, they don't bother to assist you if you need any help. If you need help finding an item they point the finger for you to look for the item yourself! You wait 45 minutes for someone to open the lock displays. Your on your own pretty much! Their is no store manager to complain, if you ask for one the employees lie about them being gone for the day or to busy to even show their face. You have employees standing by the door making you feel very uncomfortable and checking all your items to make sure you did not stole anything. I asked customer service why this store lost all of its SF Giants gear, SF Niners, and Golden State Warriors gear and she laughed with me too since no one is buying it. I'm there looking for grilling and smoking pellets. The employees are very nice and helpful even they're very busy at the time. The store is well organized and clean. Some of the items are not in stock as many stores in this pandemic. But the workers are still trying to help and hope that they can found the items that I'm looking for in the store. We finally found the last few packs! The self-checkout centers are very smooth and the employees are also very attentive. I have the item I'm looking for in just about 10 minutes in and out of the store. The parking lot is big and looks very safe. I have shopped at WalMart for YEARS and have never considered stealing anything. I understand that there are people who steal, but I am not one of them. So to be aggressively approached at the exit door by an employee and asked to to see my proof that the items in my carriage (or bag) were paid for is absolutely, downright offensive! When asked if I have my receipt, I always respond with "Yes, I do" and continue walking. Unless I am being accused of stealing I should not have to prove that I am not. Their practice of assuming everyone in their store is a thief unless their purchase is verified is enough to have Sam Walton rolling over in his grave! When we were leaving the Arroyo Grande store on Saturday, with a bag of bird seed and 2 bags of meal worms no less, I responded to the store employee as I always have. He immediately voiced "Another one, no receipt" to whom, I don't know, but it was loud enough for us to hear. I've been shopping here every week since it opened way back when. This past year though, I've been more and more comparing prices between F4L, Amazon and what's posted in this WM AG store. As a result, my WM grocery list is sooooo much smaller as you can generally beat their prices. Granted, Amazon has multiple sources and bulk options but as a case in point, yesterday I wanted to get Coffee Mate SF FV powder. Saw it was $5.54 EACH!!!!. Folks, that's $1.42 MORE than Amazon or more even at F4L NEXT DOOR. I also always scan an item with the WM app to see if the price actually matches what's posted. They've been doing a better job at this but it still needs work. Note that when I scan, I do check to see if it's available at this store and not for shipping to get accurate prices. Will continue to shop here but again, the what I need list from WM is getting smaller and smaller. M read more

Incredibly helpful staff. Maria was especially patient and kind and managed to solve my problem with a computer monitor. I kept getting the run around when I made calls and sent out emails so Maria called numerous numbers for me until she was able to straighten everything out. Being the only Walmart in town, you don't have much of an option other than going here if you don't want to pay Target's ridiculous prices. The aisles are always dirty and staff treat you more like an inconvenience than a customer. Apparently, purchasing a certain amount of items at self-checkout warrants staff surrounding a disabled individual, calling them a child and accusing them of stealing. Even talking amongst themselves saying "make sure that child doesn't steal". You were addressing a 30-year old disabled individual who was minding their business and just wanting to purchase a few items. Had you actually taken the time to address the situation correctly, this entire experience could've been prevented. The customer service at this location needs serious intervention. I can't imagine being targeted by staff just because I look a little different than anyone else. Would avoid this location like the PLAGUE if I could. read more

This Walmart is located near the Camino Mercado and Branch street exit near US101. I popped into this Walmart near Pismo/Grover Beach to get some snacks and water on my way up to San Francisco and ended up eating a quick breakfast at the McDonald's located inside. Being early on a Monday the store didn't seem to be so crowded inside but the parking lot had a decent amount of cars already in the lot. I was looking for some other things at the pharmacy area and just food so I didn't venture throughout the entire store but for the most part everything was easy to find and the displays were organized. I ended up getting a case of Dasani water and the associate seemed to have a problem scanning it in and I didn't noticed until I left that it wasn't on my receipt.
