This is the Rite Aid I always shopped at, now I will NEVER shop there again! The clerk, with no name plate, was extremely rude to the point of calling a customer (me and my wife) rude. The manager at the time ( 01/04/2025) at 1:30pm Saturday, was even worst. If they don't remember you can remind them that it was the couple simply asking about the stock or lack of on the shelves. This is unacceptable behavior from anybody. They need to be transferred immediately or removed from employment completely for me or any of my friends or neighbors to shop there again along with an apology The clerks name was Cynthia so she said and the manager who wasn't wearing a name plate either did not clearly give me her name. read more

wrote a review in May 2021 how this pharmacy improved with new management. Eric the pharmacy manager no longer works there and the place went down hill instantly. I needed something for my son filled at this store because all the stores in my area were out and Avery was so helpful. He had the medication filled by the time I got off the phone with him. Laura checked us out and she made sure all our questions were answered. Then in store Avery helped us find exactly what were looking for. I'm really pleased with how me and my family were treated. Went to get medication - pharmacist told me an hour (normal wait) I arrived about an hour and 10 mins later and this employee at the register was completely full of shit (pardon my language) but I can't describe it any other way...I watched them turn customer after customer down for any help- instead of offering to help they would just push the customer aside...when it came to my turn this bozo says, "oh sorry we don't have your prescription yet, it could take 3 hours".....they then told me I had to call another rite aid if I wanted it to be transferred. Having already waited an hour; I jumped in my car and called the other store near my home...they told me they couldn't transfer it because that ride aid has to place a hold...so I call back and the pharmacist I originally spoke with answered and was confused as my prescription was ready, and had been hanging in its location...for whatever reason this lazy employee wasn't able to check and just told me "3 hours" as if my time didn't matter. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced- not sure why someone like this is around people who most often need help, especially the elderly...and when people ask for help they act like it's a huge burden to them....everyone else in this store is super kind- except for the giant behind the pharmacy register- absolutely useless employee. Get rid of them and you'll do better. Worst attitude and customer service I've ever encountered. I'll also want to report them to higher ups- you can't keep bad employees just because- you need to get rid of them before they ruin reputations and lead to other disruptions read more

This pharmacy has improved considerably since Eric has become the new manager. I am very happy with the way they keep up with all my refills now, I can't remember the last time I heard anybody say "we're working on it" . I'm glad Eric decided to stay. Came into this rite aid pharmacy today to pick up medicine. Asked the pharmacist about if this medicine I was getting was safe for a breastfeeding mother. He pulled out his phone.. then read a few sentences to me from his phone basically saying yes it's safe. I asked him... did you just google it?! He replied, yes you can just google anything. Ummm what? I told him I thought I was getting a professional consult with a pharmacist, not random information off google. His response, well you can just consult ur physician. No i can't because it's a holiday and I have to start the medication today. I asked if he has any pamphlets or info directly from the company and not google. He says no. I say I would like verified info not google info. He says oh call the number on the box. Well the hotline is closed bc it's a holiday. NOT helpful or knowledgeable. Perfect pharmacy experience!!! Whenever I pick up my meds its always a delightful time! The staff are always so friendly and remember my name! They fill my meds so fast and most of the time its done before i even get there if not they start working on them immediately. Even if the line is long I never mind waiting because seeing how they interact with each other or with other customers is so fun! LOL!!! Eric is an amzing pharmacist and has a perfect Sense of humor John the other pharmacist is very quite but kind and helpful. I dont know the names of many of the other staff because they have some new ones but Sherry has been there for a while now, she loves to talk about her grandkids! Avery is just a ball of sunshine, his fresh hair colors and smile always light me up! There are two girls who work in the pharmacy with dark hair, one has blond mixed in and she is just so fast when helping, the other girl is new but shes getting the hang of things quick! Told me that another pharmacy already had refilled my prescription and they can't do that. I told them that I have neve went to another pharmacy. I'm only filling blood pressure medication. I asked for clarification and they told me to call my insurance. The pharmacist was right there in front of me and he turned to the side and smiled. I am a person of color and what they didn't know was that I served my country for 25 years and don't appreciate that type of treatment. I decided to not say anything due to not being 100% sure if this is racism or not. So I went to another Rite Aid to make sure if this was true. IT WASN'T. They filled the prescription with no issues. Three reasons why I will never shop at this Rite Aid again: 1. I am a chronic pain survivor and I need to visit the UCLA Pain Clinic once per month. This Rite Aid told me that they refused to fill my paper scripts from UCLA in Santa Monica because they were from "out of town" and that I was a new customer {just moved to CA from Illinois}. 2. The Pharmacy tech that looked at my scripts was looking for reasons to refuse filling it. Not once did she appear to want me as a customer - BTW I am a well dressed fit looking retired guy with a clean haircut who does not "look" like an illegal drug user. At no point did they offer to call the doctor's office to confirm and validate the authenticity of my scripts, instead they assumed I was illegally surfing for pain meds and suggested I go down the street to the CVS. Later when I asked this young lady if I could speak to the store manager she replied that there wasn't one manager that is in charge of the entire store. No kidding. These meds are just over $700 each month which makes me a desirable profit source for a pharmacy? Obviously not to these folks. 3. I assumed that the store manager would want to know about an employee that just lost $8400 in annual sales by letting a new customer walk away after refusing to take that customers money. When I send a short email with the exact address of this particular store to the Rite Aide corporate office, I received a cut an paste email asking for the store number of the location. Soooooooo, it appears that the bad customer service is contagious in this company and they don't really care that I am gone. Any bets on how long this chain will last with competition like Walgreens and CVS to contend with. I actually did take this Rite Aid employee's suggestion and drove 4 blocks to the CVS and they filled my scripts with a smile and asked how they can help me in the future. Cynthia and Katrina rocked our pharmaceutical world. as did Chuck the pharmacist with his concise help. Cynthia and Katrina worked in tandem to lower the price on some items that had been accidentally placed on the dollar shelf to a dollar. No 15 wait while the cashier (Katrina) phones the manager in the booth (Cynthia). Clean store, brightly lit, more choices and options than other smaller pharmacies in the area but LETS DISCUSS THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM there are no wait times like the ones that plague CVS just a few blocks down. This store is a well kept local's secret, I'm even considering not posting since it will not be a secret long. In reality, they deserve all the success they get. Super nice staff. I just wanted to mention that the new see through rubber on the credit card machines makes it more difficult to type in numbers. I had to use my pinky at an odd angle just to keep from messing up again. Just entering my phone number there would always be 1 number that wasn't correct and the guy came around and did it for me. It feels like the rubber people put on couches! My fingers are too fat for that rubber covering. I never had such a hard time entering numbers into a card reader in my life! I just wanted to tear that rubber off off so I could type my info in correctly. read more

Been coming to this location since it was called Thrifty's. Every time I got sick, I always went to go get my prescription filled at this location with no problems. Then once I got my prescription, I would get some Thrifty's ice cream (THE best chain store ice cream by far) and call it a day. I guess the only downfall is that the store has not been remodeled in decades. I grew up coming to this location and I can tell you it's like going back in time. I guess the only reason why I don't mind them not redesigning the store is because of nostalgia purposes and I actually kind of like the old school design. ---------------------- UPDATE: As of August 2016, they finally remodeled the entire Rite Aid as well as the rest of the shopping center. Be prepared to spend at least an hour when you go to get a COVID shot.... even if you have an appointment. I waited 45 minutes to get my injection. No apology for the long wait. Nothing. And it was dead in there. And then for COVID you are supposed to wait 15 minutes after. I did not have time to do that since I waited so long before my injection. I walked in on a Saturday Night after a long day of work looking for a bottle of wine to take to my parents' house who live nearby. Dismal selection and inflated pricing, I finally found a brand and flavor I wanted, only to find an empty slot where it usually lives. This pharmacy is promptness is horrible. I call in for prescription refills regularly for must needed medication. I set a time/date for pickup and it the RX is NEVER ready at this time. I have to call the pharmacist everytime, to which he/she states "oh we haven't worked on that yet". I usually have to wait an additional 6-12hrs before the script is finally ready. read more

I've been to this store twice recently because it's close to where I was headed. It's a little run down and doesn't look as nice as the one down the street. My biggest complaint (which I guess for any Rite Aid) is that their sales tags can be misleading. I had to return again to make sure why I didn't get the posted $.55 discount on my peanuts. After waiting for a really long time at a neighboring pharmacy trying to get helped to have my flu shot administered, I drove over to Rite Aid. I was immediately greeted by the pharmacist and after I filled out my paperwork, I was administered the flu shot in just a few minutes. It was a wonderful experience and I sent my husband down to get his shot right after because I was so impressed with Rite Aid's customer service. I had a negative experience at this Rite-Aid today. The staff was rushed and disrespectful. During payment, I was told I needed to wait for the pharmacist, only to be left standing there alone for a good while. I finally just paid for my medicine and left the store. I went in to the pharmacy yesterday and they said had to wait a day for the script to be due. So I went back in today and the pharmacist was working the counter. He told me not due for 2 months. I have used this med for 30 years so pretty know the dosage by now. I asked him to look on the computer and he said no he wouldn't and would help at all. He told me to go back home and bring in the bottle. 3 trips for 1 med probably easier to change pharmacies. He was really a jerk. Terrible customer service. I will not use riteaid again. read more

Wish I could put negative stars on this. Walked in for Ice Cream with friends and family and Susan (the manager) refused to serve us ice cream. We waited around for 20 plus minutes and despite here being two cashiers working the front she would not walk over and help us. We asked her several times to serve us ice cream and she still refused stating she needed to remain up front with other cashier. She walked over to explain this to us but would not serve us ice cream. So I'm going to give this Rite Aid pharmacy a negative starthey are probably the worst pharmacy I have ever been treated like this in my entire life. They seem to think that they are doctors. They treat you like you are a junkie. They seem to think they know everything. When a doctor writes a prescription that doesn't give them the right to make up their own decisions. If they could make those decisions they would be doctors not pharmacist. I have never been treated so bad in my life . They don't know what you're going through so what gives them the right to play God. I would never ever step foot in that store ever again and I will be calling corporate office to place a complaint because this has happened to several people not just myself. My doctors office called them specifically told them to release my medication. And they took it upon themselves to not feel it and told me that they never heard from the doctors office. I know that was a lie because I talked to my doctors office. Not sure what that pharmacy thinks their jobs are but I know there are plenty other pharmacies that I can go to. The only reason why I went to this pharmacy because it was right down the street from my house and it was easy for me to go to. I know many people that go to this pharmacy. We had to change pharmacies when the Save On closed at Albertsons and came here to Rite Aid. The people at Save On were friendly, helpful and called us by name but these Rite Aid people are awful, uncaring and down right rude. They do not coordinate with the doctors well as we had to return four times to get a prescription filled as they would not call to say it was ready. I have had two unpleasant experiences at Rite Aid during the past few months. The first one was remedied by a pharmacist who actually listened to what I had been trying to convey to a staff employee. However, he only got involved when I became angry because a young man told me I had "an attitude." That was the worst thing he could have said to me under all of the circumstances. I won't go into detail here as I intend to write a letter to corporate, report this store to the BBB and then try and find an agency that oversees pharmacies. I am disgusted with the general behavior at the pharmacy in Arroyo Grande. I have come across staff that does not want to listen, does not read log notes. They have been blase, defensive, supportive of bad behavior and flip out with the blink of an eye. There is no regard for finding a remedy until the customer is frustrated and exhausted from arguing with staff. All of the above makes me angry. There is a general acceptance of holding customers hostage by someone at this pharmacy. The staff behaves the way it does, because they have been allowed to display rude and name-calling behavior. Unfortunately, the staff is dealing with seniors and people of color, both of which have experienced discrimination from my experiences. I am not Mary Poppins. I expect people to do their job with some respect. If no one can do that, Rite Aid can anticipate wrath from me and other customers. The people I really hold accountable for all of this junk is senior management. All of you need to look at your own behavior in order to stop ticking off customers, and I am ticked off. read more
