This is where I go for special occasion Rose Champagne, since let us face it, the SLO area does not have much in the way of great liquor stores. BevMo does have good selections on imported Vodka, Tequila, Beers, and Champagne, but as far as wine is concerned, it is mostly lower or mid-tier wines. Since local wines are generally mid to mid-upper tier, they are not too popular here, since the demographic served is not too sophisticated. While one may not buy anything, it can be fun just to look around and see if anything is appealing. They do have snacks, but they tend to be overpriced. Since Costco is right nearby, it is all too easy to get something at a lower price from there instead of here. What is good, is that anyone can search online and then pick up here. In fact, during the holiday rush, one can even arrange delivery right to one's home. As I started off, this is a good place to buy good French Champagne at a decent price. While De Palos in Pismo does have a great wine selection, they generally sell alot at a premium price. One of the better places to go in the SLO/Pismo area is to the Cal-Fresh in Pismo. One of the great things about this Cal-Fresh is that they can often get something in stock by request. It is not the cheapest, but they have a good eclectic selection. While Shell Beach and Pismo are almost burdened with too many liquor stores, they all have the same tourist oriented selection, more or less. read more

I wanted to get some stuff for the 4th of July week (local beer, wine, and stuff to go with wine). They had it all, and what was cook was that the employees seemed to be trained to know about all their products. It's well-lit, clean, clearly labeled, easy to navigate, and plenty of help walking around. Once we tried everything we bought (beer, bottles of wine, and Brie with olive bruschetta), we were satisfied with everything we bought, and the snacks were the hit of the 4th of July party. Oh my gosh this place is crazy booze booze and more booze..... They have my alcohol ginger beer I like and it's hard to find so I was so excited because they had it by the case. Usually ginger beer is non-alcoholic to make Moscow Mules but there is one that is actually a ginger beer that has alcohol and they had it!!! I've never been in one because where I live there is not one but I hear we may be getting one. Hope...hope. But back to BevMo it's crazy how extensive their selection of hard liquor, beer and wine. They have snacks, glassware and greeting cards. Actually I could of spent a lot more time in there but I had a group with me and didn't want to hold them up. The special was buy a bottle of wine get a second for .05 what a deal. So if you are looking for specialty liquor, or just the norm I'm sure this is your place. We used BevMo to purchase kegs for our wedding and they were so helpful. Their staff was super informative and they had a large selection of kegs to choose from including several different sizes. They kept us informed and when they couldn't get one of our kegs in, they let us pick a more expensive one for the same price. They delivered the kegs and ice to the venue before the wedding so we didn't have to worry about trying to pick them up. Overall a great experience and wouldn't hesitate using them again. read more

Went here to purchase alcohol for my wedding since they're the only place in town I know that does delivery. The service here was great! The manager, Ray, helped explain different options to us, find good drink options that would be on a good sale during our wedding month, and helped us with amount of alcohol we should get (he end up talking us down, rather than up when he thought we were overstocking). Delivery was prompt and courteous, and service can't be beat. That said, BevMo doesn't stock Costco's Kirkland brand alcohol (only Costco does) and where in-stock items overlap, Costco is usually a bit cheaper. Costco also doesn't deliver alcohol, and you can forget about specialized mixers, in-store tastings, and personalized assistance on planning a wedding/big event bar, though. Bottom line: if you come to BevMo for the service and selection, you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is convenient and often has what I want, though that tends to change month on month... It's hard to tell if the beer I like is getting more expensive or if the price here is high. But it can tend towards that side of cost. The liquor selection is good and I often find exactly the bourbon, or rye that I recently read about online here for sale. So that's cool. The snack selection is pretty decent too. I like the beer selection on the whole and the fact they have refrigerated cases of a selection of beers is nice if you're in route somewhere and don't want to show up with warm beer (who would?). I would still like to see more beer varieties, lambics's, kriek's, sours, etc. but as they grow in popularity I'm sure they'll show up. I hate the fact that discount coupons only get e-mailed and without the e-mail they can't 'pull up' your coupon. Total corporate hullabaloo. If I spend $100 on beer but I forgot my $10 off coupon, why would you not have one in-store I could use, or the ability to verify that I have not yet used it? This blows my mind. It's 2016. Catch-up already. That annoying issue aside, it's still a good spot for beer/wine/liquor variety. read more

Making "Windex" shots!! The guy at the check-out had the most perplexed look on his face when I told him that's what I was concocting that evening. A moment later I added, I'm Greek. Still perplexed. As I walked out of the store he started shouting "Come back! I get it! MBFGW." The look on his face was priceless that he had "cracked the code." As I waved a thumbs-up he uttered "That's a brilliant drink!" From Greek Beer and Ouzo to foreign liquors that I have yet to try I love the plethora of liquid in this place!! I'm all about their wine specials/deals - for usually I feel they are a bit overpriced. I'm a fan of their tastings. I found a couple new sparkling wines during the holidays that I really enjoyed. Wow, compared to the prices at Ralph's, BevMo is a win! For smaller bottles, or even larger bottles, the numerous options that open up while shopping at BevMo is mind blowing. They have *special editions* --- for example, a winter version of coconut malibu with REAL coconut flakes. Check out the other *special editions* they have, really super nice bottles that are nice souvenirs to save in your kitchen. Let's see, to sign up for a BevMo card, well looks like you need to accumulate LOTS of points in order to reap any tangible rewards, so I just used my cousin's BevMo card. So happy that they have Gordon Beirsch and Napa Smith beer! They also have my favorite wine label Green and Red (best kept secret so shhhh :) Some of the wines are a good deal and some are overpriced so you just have to know your prices and be willing to shop around. I never buy hard alcohol here, I have yet to find one that isn't overpriced. Most of the beer is a good price and as I mentioned before, they carry my two favorite brands of beer that are relatively hard to find. As I was checking out with my three bottles of wine, I asked for a bag because I was on foot and we are not local and unfamiliar with the local ordiance that bags are not free. Don't even get me started on this enclave on bozos, halfwits, and liars! Zero product knowledge. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Once, while in the store with a complaint, I was helped by 3 separate employees who claimed to be "Assistant Managers", never once being given the manager. The manager is a liar, once I finally did track him down. He told me that certain beers were unavailable, but since he has staff that live in the San Diego or San Francisco areas, that they often brought beers back for sale and if I wanted to give him a list he would see that the employees purchased items for me. All well and good..... IF NOT ILLEGAL! And when confronted with this and the fact that he would need distribution and couldn't just payout employees to purchase beer from petty cash, how do they get refunded? He told me that certain beers were unavailable and if I wasn't there to purchase that I would have to leave, since I would be harassing his staff and loitering. If not for a few beers that I can NOT get elsewhere, I would never set foot inside BevMo again. I have told them this on a local and corporate level and response is always the same... offer a 5% coupon for next use. Pay REALLY close attention to the signs because in a really small print it said 16oz and had the SKU number, but they had all the 16oz bottles in packs under the sign so it looked like it was for the whole pack of 16oz bottles- it was too good to be true. They opened this place right before I finished college here. It is the best place to get all your drinking needs. And if your here, you know that Is important. Things here are typically cheap in comparison to the other places nearby. However if the other places have a special or deal, it will be cheaper than here. But you will be making trips to other places. I say that this place should either be the last place or the only place you hit up if you are doing a drinking party. You should also sign up or their free membership. If you spend a certain amount of money, they give you money to use for you next shopping trip. read more

First of all, many props to this company for the variety of beer and liquor they offer. I have been coming here for a number of years for stocking at home essential libations. HOWEVER... dun dun duhhhh. Until this corporation can figure out how to sell single bottles of their numerous craft beer varieties, I feel they are sub par. Management claims they are not allowed to sell singles from their six packs. However they Do have a very limited display of random singles (possibly from broken six packs?) available with the option of making your own sixer with store provided empty six pack holders. So they do sell some singles, but they're chosen by the store. With the ever increasing prices of craft beer, be prepared to commit to a six pack if you're shopping BevMo. read more
