The best section within the fast disappearing Rite-Aid was the small ice cream parlor, where they kept the name Thrifty Ice Cream from the original Thrifty Drugstore because it was so good. I have a chronic disease and I am on 2 scheduled drugs, one being non narcotic. They made me feel like a criminal most of the time. They would count my pills and tell me things that were not true about how my insurance company filled these. I did have to provide my license every time which wasn't a problem. This place will give you the wrong prescription, then when you try to explain to them that it's the wrong prescription. You're told "oh well, we do not give refunds on medications". I even went in days before after my doctor faxed over the correct prescription to confirm the prescription went through ok. I was told it did and that the new prescription would arrive in a couple days. There is no accountability when the pharmacist makes a mistake, and you are stuck paying for the wrong prescription. read more

just wanted to let everyone know that Rite Aid on 1690 Oak Park has very rude and uncompliant staff in the pharmacy that has provided me with a prescription that was not needed and was charged full price to a disabled veteran and when called immediately back to return, it was not able to and was treated even ruder ‼ I believe in businesses being what they should be as a customer based store and working with them and joint to figure out things not to just shut doors and give lame excuses for why they won't refund anything very sad. Unlike overseas where pharmacies are independently run and the place to go for Rx's and consultations, RiteAid and other chains are veritable liquor stores, supermarkets, ice cream shops and seasonal junk merchandizers, none of which they do well (I almost forgot "pharmacy"). My experiences at this local R.A. have been mixed. The pharmacists are knowledgeable (when you can get one) to but the prices of off-the-shelf and store brand products are worse in general than Wally-world or other pharmacies. The shelf price is not always the price that rings up. With so many choices IRL and online, this is NOT my go-to choice. Suggestions: Instead of being a catch-all like a 7/11 with a pharmacy in it, how about specializing and getting sufficiently trained clerks behind the counter? read more

I love this Rite Aid. It really reminds me of a neighborhood drug store. The same people seem to be working the store and pharmacy which is a good sign. The staff always seems to remember me and they are super helpful. They have a fun selection of holiday gifts. I find cute fall, Halloween, and Christmas gifts that I get my family and friends. The only reason I use this pharmacy is they have a drive thru. I am busy and don't always want to stand in a line for 20 minutes. I will say that their drive thru is slow. Today I waited in my car in the drive thru line for 12 minutes before someone even came and said "we'll be right with you." It took about 20 minutes for my prescriptions, and by that time 2 more cars were behind me. I don't really mind waiting as long as I don't wait 20 minutes for them to tell me there is a problem and my prescription isn't ready. This has happened a few times to me. The staff are friendly to me for the most part. I think for me, the frustrating part is that doctors office say that if a patient wants refills, to have the pharmacy fax a request. I find myself calling my doctors office to confirm that the pharmacy actually SENDS the fax. It's annoying. For me, the convenience is worth using Rite Aid and the good outweighs the bad. I know they are busy and there is more to being a pharmacist than simply counting pills and sliding them in to a pill container. They must deal with insurance, make sure drugs do not interact with one another, etc. In short- they're alright. read more

I went through the drive threw to pick up medicine. Usually the young boys who help are amazing and courteous! I was helped by a RUDE white older lady with short white hair. I am still shocked at how disgustingly rude she was. I was in my car on my phone with my father, I told him to hold on while I get my medicine. Before I could giver her my name or date of birth, she made fun of my brakes that squeaked when I pulled up. She didn't stop there she kept cutting me off as I tried to ignore her. She went on and on laughing at me and saying how bad the sound was. I told her they were new and I had got them wet, she replied "NEW!! You better get your money back" The whole time my father is on the phone and heard the whole conversation. This Rite aid usually the people are kind. The pharmacy is really great even when they are understaffed and no one is ever rude even when they are dealing with difficult customers or even when you just have a question. They have signs that clearly show you where to look for and ask for information regarding shots. read more

This rating is about the pharmacy only. 1) I can't seem to get my prescriptions without answering the same questions--to three different people each time. 2) they've messed up ALOT. 3) they have a drive thru (I have 2 month old twins so that's helpful...) but half the time I don't think THEY know they have a drive thru... I chose this pharmacy BECAUSE of he drive thru. But it may be worth loading up the twins in a stroller and walking in to another store to get my stuff. read more

Please, please, do not come here for passport photos! The person who took the photo was nice, and even retook it when I asked, but besides that, I'm very unhappy with these photos. I'm sure they thought it was a proper passport photo (they even showed me that the alignments on the camera were correct), but it came out way too zoomed in and with a harsh glare from the flash of the camera. Like my face fills out the 2x2 frame needed, and this wasn't an issue when I had taken my photos a few years back at Costco. They also didn't cut it out- great if that's what you want, but I didn't. I went home and cut them out using the measurements of an older passport photo that was approved, and it just ended up proving how unusable and weirdly zoomed in the photos are. Now I'm out of nine to ten bucks and have two unusable photos that aren't going to work. Do yourself a favor, just take the drive to SLO, and get Costco to give you a proper passport picture! I previously went to them, they did great, and now I'm going back to them. These photos delayed my stuff, and I'm regretful that I even went to Rite Aid in the first place. Could definitely use some personnel training. Male cashier has the personality of a rock. RX dept scheduled my daughter's vaccine then closed early without notification. It also looks like they rely on computer assisted ordering throughout the store with no personnel adjustment for weekends, seasons, first of month, etc. AKA the shelves are always empty. Terrible communication. They told me at 2:00 they had my meds that I really needed for an infection. They told me it would be ready by 4:00. I got there at 4:30 in case they were busy. I waited in line for 20 min and when I got to clerk he advised me it wasn't ready and asked me to come back. I live out in country so I went to Vons shopping instead of going home. I got back to Rite aide around 5:30, waited in line for 20 or so min (again) and when I got to the tech he told me they had NO medicine for me. I was livid and left cursing (). Called the Pharmacist from car ( took 10 min to get on phine) she tells me that my meds had arrived at 4:00 (??) I then had to wait AGAIN for another 30 minutes to get them !! WTH?? ( I do have say that the Pharmacist apologized and was kind) the tech was a clueless idiot that acted like he could give a crap! read more

I contacted Rite Aid about a particular drug that between my insurance company and the doctor's office left me very confused. My insurance didn't cover the drug, the doctor's office made me pay a $25 doctor authorization fee, only to find out the insurance didn't cover the drug which I could have found out by myself. Rite Aid was very helpful in unwinding the confusion. In the end I was able to pay only $160 for a drug that cost $254.00. That's quite a big savings. The episode took over 3 weeks to figure out, but with the savings and working with the pharmacist and his team, they made it pleasant. I was also looking for an over the counter drug that my husband and I use a lot. It wasn't originally carried by Rite Aid, and I talked to the pharmacist about it, this was nearly a year ago, and this same pharmacist said he would order it, and I've been very happy to pick up the drug Tagament every time I need to go to this Rite Aid. So we bought separately, I payed in $100 bill and our lady had another lady come over and check it. And she yelled like made a big deal at us for buying 2 separately. I am a trans woman who has been getting her meds from the Rite Aid in Arroyo Grande. I am always dressed as a woman when I go into the pharmacy. Most of the time, with only a couple of exceptions, I am treated with indifference at best, and occasional hostility. When walking away after picking up my meds, I hear laughter coming from the staff at the pharmacy. There are two employees who are always nice, but I haven't seen them lately. They have also gotten my co-pay wrong a couple of times, and had to wait while they finally figured it out. It's obvious to me that LGBTQ customers are not welcome. read more

This is the WORST pharmacy. Needed a prescription filled for my daughter for a procedure she was having over the weekend, doctor sent in on Monday, went in to pick it up on a Friday as it was a simple medication. Took in the physical script as well. When i showed it to the tech, he stated they never recieved, would be ready in 30min. I requested a text when it was finished. Returned 45minutes later, never having recieved the text. After waiting in line for 15minutes, the pharmacist asks if its for my daughter before i even get to the cash register. States they are unable to fill the prescription because it has conflicting instructions and have been trying all week to reach the doctor. When i asked why the tech didnt tell me this when i dropped it off, they said they didnt file unfilled prescriptions in the computer(2nd time this has happened to me at this pharmacy, first time was for a generic antibiotic that when my doctor called in a 2nd time when i called my doctor back telling them it was never recieved, the pharmacy told them they would take 2days to fill it because they were "busy") when i asked why they didnt call me to try and reach the doctor or even call me after they recieved it a second time, or you know, tell me when I was there, she looked at me dumbfounded, like communicating with a customer was unheard of. I called my daughters doctor and had no problem reaching them, they called her prescription into cvs. No problem. Also another time i had a prescription called in by my doctor and went in to pick it up the next day, expecting it to be ready, they recieved but didnt fill it because they "dont fill new prescriptioms without hearing from the patient first" I feel like an idiot for giving them so many chances, assuming it was a single person, but that whole pharmacy is cursed. After she scolded me by telling me that I wasn't listening when I was talked to it was all I could do not to come through the phone at her. I will never shop at this location again because of her bad attitude and how poorly it reflects through both phone conversation and in person. She interrupts and is assuming. I had her on speaker phone in front of another pharmacy when transferring a prescription, and everyone heard her lie when she was caught up in assuming information by not listening. Most of my experience with the pharmacists at this particular location have been negative, but Bonnie takes the cake. I do not want my business supporting corporations run by employees with low morale, and I hope you do not take prescriptions at a pharmacy with condescending employees. Be very careful while using the pharmacy. The man that works the drive-through is not clear on the price of prescriptions. I bought what I thought was prescriptions for $5 and it ended up being $65 and there was nothing I could do about it once I left. It was my bad decision for not looking at the paper before signing and just trusting him but the fact that they would not do anything for me about it, very disappointing.
