I haven't been at a Dollar Tree in a while, but this location definitely had a lot of good finds for pretty affordable prices. We stopped by here to grab some essentials that we forgot for our camping trip. We were able to find a cutting knife, some pillows, cleansing wipes, hygiene products, plates, and bowls. Everything was about $5 and under. Although there was only a few check out lines open, we were in and out of there pretty quick, and found most of the things we needed. Went in to buy some cleanser and gum. Couldn't believe the place! Looked like Andy Warhol had been in! The cleaning supplies were in such perfect order! I've never seen anything like this--especially in a dollar store! I'm well aware this establishment is not what we call "high end" , however, I do NOT expect, nor will I stand for disrespectful treatment as a paying customer. "Rosie" a female supposed " Asst Mgr at this location went way way too far this evening. I have encountered her rude unhelpful behavior in the past but tonight was absolutely unacceptable In my book. What is interesting is that on more than one occasion, I have observed her stark different behavior towards Hispanic customers. I guess because I happen to be Caucasian, she feels she can treatment rudely-NO, that is unacceptable. The manager or District Mgr over this store needs to counsel this woman on customer service and I fully intend to contact the headquarters of Dollar Tree to ensure this is done That being said, there are numerous wonderful employees at this location, one young man in particular, I believe his name starts with a "K" but unfortunately I'm unable to remember the name at this time. This dollar tree is one of two locations in Santa Maria! They carry the same items, and the pricing is the standard $1.25 per item although they couldn't include higher prices around $3dollars to $5 dollars. The isles are neatly organized and they include seasonal items, cleaning items, personal items which include shampoos facemasks, and other miscellaneous items such as canned goods. I didn't take any pictures or video since this is a store that I visit it frequently but if you're curious, I will update with pictures of the place in another review. When are you going to start training; 1- Your Cashiers to look up and call for additional cashiers as needed? 2- Your Managers to watch the front end to help execute #1 above. Your front end service is the last impression you leave on customers‍ I saw at least 2 customers walk out without a purchase due to long lines. Along with people in this line complaining. Store has enough lights to stay open till 8 and I got here at 7:50. And they wouldn't let me in even though it says they close. At 8 o'clock, I asked if I could get one item and they wouldn't let me inside the store. So what is it? Is it you close at 8 o'clock or 750? I've never been to a dollar tree that was as clean and organized as the one in arroyo grande and the 2 ladies working on Thursday night were the most helpful employees, one went out of her way to help me find doggie waste bags. Which rarely happens most of the time they just point and say down that way. I will definitely be going back there! read more

You will find party wear, gift bags/cards/wrapping/ribbons, kitchen/dinner wear, candy, canned goods, seasonings, reading books/stationary, toys, sodas, frozen items, whimsical items, etc. Again, there are so many excellent finds you must pay a visit. You will become a believer and a shopper! :) I believe I'm a savvy shopper :) I remember prices on items; therefore, will shop Dollar Tree to pay $1.00 for an item that is $2.99 plus or more at other stores. For instance, I got beautifully hand made Mothers Day cards that will cost $4 or more at other stores; Crystal party serving bowls that cost $5 at other stores, especially Smart and Final; and some Yardley soaps that I know are $3 & more at other stores as well. FIVE STARS for the people who work here who have to deal with a very demanding public and even some people who are downright sick and nasty! Yesterday when I walked in, the girl normally on the register and the manager were cleaning up the area where a customer had just urinated all over a box over by the sox area. I was disgusted and felt so sorry these two had to clean up after someone who thought it was a public restroom. That wasn't all they've had to clean up, as earlier I had heard a person pulled down their pants and made a deposit into a box near that same side and also another time in the back room. THAT IS DISGUSTING! The amazing people that work here have to put up with a lot of different types of characters, but there are enough who are either mentally ill, young adults, homeless or criminals who seem to like to steal from this store and desecrate the store. My heart goes out to those who have to clean up after them or call the police on them. BUT, I give TWO STARS for whoever owns this company (upper management) who know these things go on and can't help these poor workers out and put a CAMERA to catch who is stealing and urinating and crapping all over the merchandise that these people making low wages have to clean up!! This store makes A LOT of money and I'm appalled at how little the upper management cares to help these workers out. They do an amazing job for how little I'm sure they get paid and the least they could do is help protect the workers by placing cameras in areas the customers steal, not just the cash register area where it's more than obvious they don't trust their own workers. read more

I went into this store yesterday. I couldn't believe how dirty it was trash on the floor merchandise on the floor extremely unorganized. The cashier seemed extremely nervous as soon as the manager walked up and she was literally shaking. I would suggest driving to Slo to the 99 cent store so much better. This store is a value in any economy. From school supplies to simple cleaning products to stocking stuffers and craft supplies, this place literally has it all. My mom died last year, and I find myself buying items to decorate her headstone, or craft stuff to help with my grief. Pretty sizable in square footage, (I'm pretty sure it is) the only dollar tree in the five cities (don't quote me, I could be wrong) so it's consistently on the busy side. The cashiers are stedfast with keeping their lines moving along in a productive and efficient manner. Merchandise is grouped with like items and there's actual employees visible on the sales floor interacting with the clientele. read more

I love Dollar Tree! First, nothing costs more than $1, which we can no longer say about their competitor who's name is now misleading. Second, they have a great selection of all sorts of items. My go to's include stationary/craft supplies, party supplies and kitchen goods, but they also have a good selection of frames and vases, wrapping supplies and greeting cards-which make it a great one-stop gift shop. Plus, their holiday offerings are super cute and plentiful. Third, it's organized. The shelves are usually full of product and not all mixed up with items that don't belong. It's easy to find what I'm looking for. Fourth, the employees are friendly and helpful. Big plus. And don't forget - everything costs $1 or less! This store is my favorite place to shop in the 5 cities. I can buy socks, name brand deodorant, takis, soft pretzels, cute dishes, car air fresheners, and stocking stuffers all for a dollar a pop. A few times a week I bring my little sister here after school and we share a frozen lemonade. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and keeps the place clean and well organized. The snack aisles have really expanded over the past couple of months, and they have many many items that are well worth the dollar. read more

This was a difficult review to write because it is aimed solely at the manager on duty. The cashier was amazing: friendly, helpful, fast! The manager, however, took her sweet time coming up to the register to help with an issue. When she did come up, she was having what seemed like a personal conversation with a "customer". I use quotation marks here because she clearly knew the person and was having a personal conversation. This can all be forgiven but, even with signs on both doors saying, "Anyone entering this store must have a mask on", she had her mask down around her chin. All the employees were properly wearing their masks but the manager failed to follow her store's policy. If her employees have to follow a mask mandate, so should she! read more

We visited The Dollar Tree for a few things we needed while visiting the area and I was amazed at the size of the store and all the awesome merchandise available! The store appears a bit cluttered but we were able to find what we needed right away and I wish I had more time to shop for treasures I am certain are there! The only kind of bad thing I witnessed was one of the cashiers was asked by a shopper if by chance there were any more of this certain item possibly in the back. He then asked a female cashier (manager? Supervisor?) that question. She snapped back with a somewhat sassy, "No!" But she caught herself and explained all they had was on the floor. Shoppers don't want to go spend their money, even if it's a dollar, and get sassy service. I appreciate she attempted to save herself but this should never happen in front of customers. The customer who had asked the question was uncomfortable after that and appeared slightly embarrassed. Be careful with your words and actions when you rely on repeat customers to secure your jobs. read more

This store has just about everything one could need, and all for a dollar! What I like most about this one is that it's very big and has a large fridge selection. They offer a great selection of seasonal decorations and teacher supplies. The staff is always very friendly and if they are out of an item you need they get a new shipment each week. read more

Upon arriving, I was impressed by the variety of selection and brand availability. My checkout experience left much to be desired. The cashier was not very friendly. I asked her to good a couple items (literally two) and she said I cannot she is only allowed to void two items and she already did so today. What?....she left me feeling confused so because she already voided her two items for the day, she was forcing me to purchase two items I did not want. I evaluated the situation - 3 people behind me in line, wasting $2, time to wait for manager to arrive...so not worth the eye rolling and time to void $2. Let me just say that I understand the Dollar Tree sells inexpensive items and that they get customer base from a wide variety of people. I have never though been into a Dollar Tree where the employees were so rude including the manager who barks over the intercom because someone had spilled shaving cream on the floor and that she was going to smell everyone's hands as they were leaving. Our cashier barked at me twice if I wanted a bag cuz I didn't respond quick enough on the first time. Her name was Marianne and she was about as rude and unsociable as a person could be. I love this store in A.G. it's part of my weekly shopping routine. I've never been disappointed by the staff or products. This morning I witnessed a customer make a fool out of herself by yelling at a woman coming into the store with her therapy dog walking on a leash next to the shopping basket. The obnoxious woman confronted the lady with the dog at the entrance door and said not to bring the dog in, it was not a therapy dog because it was not wearing a service dog jacket! The dog owner said it was a therapy dog turned her head and went about her shopping ignoring this nutty woman. The agitated woman was obviously looking for someone to argue with for any reason. She then started to yell at the manager demanding the lady and her dog be kicked out! The manager politely and professionally said she could do no such thing. Service dogs are allowed in the store unless they're were not being supervised. The rude customer made a spectacle of herself by yelling she was going to call the health department. The manager did an EXCELLENT job of not engaging any further in an argument. A little while later while finishing my own shopping I noticed the lady with her service dog and the lady who needs anger management therapy both shopping happy as can be. I visit plenty of other Dollar Trees in the area and none are as horrible as this one. Yes, the lines are long and the shelves are sometimes a mess. When I'm paying a dollar for an item though I can overlook that. It's the rude employees that get me. I watched Anita, whom I assume is the manager, speak so poorly to a new hire at the register today while in line. If she speaks like that to them in front of customers I can't imagine how she speaks to them behind closed doors. The inventory is great. The staff is a bunch of crack heads. Had a middle age Hispanic woman at the checkout counter today. There was literally 12 people in line so she opened up. It was pretty clear she was mad she had to actually earn her money. After she opened up she said ' I have 2 3 and now my line is open. No customer skills at all. The inventory is great here but who in the hell hires the staff? If you have a sixth grade education you can manage this store.
