Great selection throughout the store. They always have the trendy stuff behind the front counter which is easy to find. Most things are within the 5 below range, with a more expensive section in the back. I love to stop by for their snacks. My husband & I went to the Santa Maria store: 2342 S Bradley Road & we wanted to check out with our things. There was no self checkout registers so we went to the regular registers & no associate was there for a good 5-7 minutes. So saw a cow bell at the register so I used it, thinking that's why that was there. In about a minute an associate shows up (associate 806346) and she looked angry with no smile. She didn't greet us nor ask can I help you. We tried to do small talk with her & no response. She just ranged us up and no conversation at all. The look on her face was so unhappy. She didn't say "thank you" or "have a nice day" at the end. Very rude! If someone can't show customer service don't work!! Because of us customers this associate has a job & this business is still running. We will no longer be coming back to this store. And I plan on putting this info out there on Yelp & Google business reviews to warn other clients. read more

This location has only been open in Santa Maria for a week or so now. Despite the numbers of people who come in and out the staff manages to keep the story looking neat and clean. There are several employees walking the floor to see if you need help and to make sure that things are organized on the shelves. All of the employees I have encountered have been super friendly and helpful. There is a variety of things sold at 5 Below from room decor, and candy to snacks and toys. Everything is $5 and under but that doesn't mean everything is a great deal. Be mindful of what you are buying, because there are some items you can get at Dollar Tree for cheaper. They have toys that are current and name brand and those are a great deal. The holiday items are nice and are worth the prices. You can find great stocking stuffers and several gifts. There was a whole shelf dedicated to the ingredients to make slime which is VERY IN this year with the kids and the prices for the items can't be beat. I saw several fun phone accessories for your cell phone that were clearly separated by phone type and generation. The check out process goes quickly and their shopping baskets are great. You can carry it traditionally on your arms, OR you can roll it on the ground and use the extended handle to guide it. AWESOME! Overall I'd say go in and check it out. So much cool stuff in here...some good deals like graphic t-shirts and storage ideas...alot of techie stuff. Some things may be overpolroces for even $5 but yiu can't beat fitness items for $5 like resistance bands and dumbells. read more

Horrible workers. Some boy with long blue hair was incredibly disrespectful to me tonight. As I was setting things on a shelf next to me to sort through my basket he demanded I gave him those items stating in a rude voice "can you just give those to me if you aren't going to get them" and repeated himself until I handed the items over. I was simply sorting through my items and did not need to be spoken to the way he spoke to me and the tone he used was unacceptable. I will be going to higher up to speak about his behavior and lack of customer service skills. read more

All I can say is I have given this store a chance a few times and both times were pretty miserable. I understand it being busy when it was new but it doesn't make sense to have a line of 20+ people and only 2-3 cashiers. And then the other times I'd buy the "expensive" $5 items and all three of them didn't work! Not just one, but all three. Pretty ridiculous. I'll be getting my money back today and I don't plan to step foot in there ever again. Not to mention the food I got was STALE gross. read more
