I remember the price club days in San Diego as a kid, no parking, crowded and absolutely enormous. However, as a 50-something, Costco doesn't seem all that big any longer or as crowded. Monday, 9AM is my weekly Costco trip, I should probably only go if I need something, because, and we all know this, you walk out with stuff you didn't intend on buying. Am I right? I've only been an executive member for going on 3 years now, the first year, I didn't go to Costco, but since retiring it's a weekly trip and usually there will be something on the Costco list we need. The SLO location is great for me, about 30 minutes from Paso, easily accessible, lots of parking, Costco gas and the reliable food court we have grown to love. I walk the store weekly, never in a hurry to get in and out, but the only time I've seen it really crowded was Thanksgiving week, 2025, but even then it was manageable once inside, it never felt crowded and the check out lives, including self check weren't a long wait. I feel the employees do a great job keeping the store stocked and clean, making it easy to navigate. I have use the optometry department, which was very easy, albeit a little bit of a wait to be served. They took all three of my prescriptions and I found a frame and a few weeks I picked my glasses up. Since then, they have repaired them once, no charge. If you need glasses, get them filled at Costco, so easy, good selection. Overall, I am happy with their selection, there are things I wish they would stock, miso marinated sablefish and Tejava being two of those items. It's nice to see some new items as I stroll the aisle and overall it's s great experience in SLO. Can't forget that hotdog meal on the way out, still a deal at $1.50! read more

Have you had the new caramel brownie Sundae from the Food Court? We ordered the twist (swirled vanilla and chocolate soft serve). Unfortunately there was only a 1/4 inch ribbon of vanilla in it. The caramel consisted of about a 1/4 inch on the very bottom with a small amount drizzled down the sides. Finally the brownie bites on top were quite dry. 3 stars only because my husband liked the chocolate ice cream. I would not buy again even at only $2.99. read more

This Costco has quite a few .97 deals that don't exist in other locations e.g. in the Bay Area. We were able to get a 24-pack of Gatorade sticks for $9.97, a two-pack of turkey gravy for $2.97, and various biscuits for 30-50% off original price. Quality/Quantity - So many local supporting businesses here, see pictures. I used to buy cases, yes cases, of wine here for only $36; I sure miss the good ol' days. And the wine was good, at minimum a good table wine. But actually good enough to also give as a gift. Atmosphere - Consistent. Outdoor food court. Plenty of outdoor seating. Open 7 days a week from 9:30am or 10am to 6pm or 8:30pm. Service - Self-service. Price - More expensive than the other Costcos we frequent. Not a lot of competition here. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2005. Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. Don't run into the old hag Jodie! Today my boyfriend and I went to go get some shopping done as usual and since we didn't get much we went to self checkout. After getting our few items scanned and going to pay my boyfriends card wasn't working so I went to go pay with my Apple Pay when this old hag named Jodie who was working there PUSHED MY PHONE OUT OF MY HAND and told me I wasn't allowed to pay, i decided to ignore her at first and went to go put in my pin and she puts her hand in the way so I wasn't able to. I was absolutely furious and shocked at where she gets the audacity to stop a customer from paying. Actually so weird. To whoever answered my call at 10:30am today in the Costco Tire Center, I hope you find another job where you don't have to answer customer phone calls. After waiting on hold for someone in the tire department I was extremely disappointed with the service I received once my call was taken. The disrespect and attitude from you was completely unnecessary. I also work in customer service and it's truly appalling that you are allowed to work with people. Checking out with my elderly friend who was in a scooter. I lost her before checking out and didn't notice what was in her cart. I put the items down, and HOLLY immediately comes over and picks up the pillow my friend was going to buy and said LOUDLY "You took the display item!!" She than picked up another item and says "you cant buy just one bag of bagels!" (Apparently 2 are together) HOLLY was extremely rude, in fact I told her she was rude! It was VERY noticeable that my friend was handicapped. HOLLY then starts to argue with me "Why am I rude??" She says. The line behind me was long and everyone was watching. Instead of running and getting my friend another pillow and bag of bagels, she took them away.....WOW!! HOLLY wasn't the checker, and could of helped my friend still purchase her items. Instead she walked away and started picking on the people behind me. Later that same day I went to Trader Joe, the clerk noticed one of the eggs I was buying was cracked, right away she rang a bell and another clerk came over and ran and got me another carton of eggs. Stopped by Costco's eye glass department to check on upgrading my prescription. The young man behind the counter (Aiden) was so helpful and professional. My spouse and I both bought new glasses in record time. His recommendations were spot on and his professionalism was beyond compare. Gotta love Costco, and as I go as often as I can to save $3 on a monster-size bottle of detergent along with $200 on all kinds of other things I don't really need (and a 5-year supply of it to boot!). I practically need my own warehouse to store it all, yikes! You usually can find someone to help you within a few aisles, and they are most helpful and friendly. If you need to return something, they have a ultra-generous policy. Highlights for me: the fresh fruit and veggies section, fresh meat, fresh whole roasted cooked chicken ($4.99), vitamin and supplements, the wine selection, the booze, and the samples around lunchtime! Tip: Go early or go late, but not at lunch or 530pm - the checkout process is long and tedious. Unless, of course, you need lunch and want to go for their AYCE samples! Brianna was incredibly rude and condescending to my boyfriend and I as we tried to use EBT to pay for our joint groceries. She refused to let us use the card under my membership as it didn't have my name on it, and I understand that policy is policy but the manner in which she treated us was so unnecessary and honestly really surprising for Costco. It took over two hours to have my tires replaced. I was told it would take about an hour or an hour plus fifteen minutes. A couple ahead of me was given a substantial amount of time because they were buying tires and to my amazement were having their tires put on right away. I was patient until two hours and ten minutes went by and I never got a text that they were done. I went into the garage and the guys were chatting away in a corner while my car was still in the garage. The young guy came over to me and said they just finished my car. I told him it took over two hours and he said they were short staffed and if I had a problem go tell the boss. If they were so short staffed why were they just chatting away instead of notifying me my car was done. My guess is they finished and didn't notify me. They also gave preference to the couple ahead of me who just purchased tires. Not happy and will never go to Costco again for new tires. The man was arrogant and flippant not to mention slow. read more

Very busy place. Their food court is outside just in case if you arrive hungry and you get confused and dizzy inside. They had a little plenty of stations to feed you and to have you taste some stuff. I tried the Tyson chicken today and it was surprisingly good. Parking is easy even though there is a stop sign to get in that is annoying. There are trees here and they're scattered through the parking in case you want to have shade. It was clean inside and it looked like typical Costco without any drama. read more

Can't get help, don't honor their sales, want you to go take a pic of the posted sale price and bring it back to the register so they can honor it. While on a recent trip on 7/23/24 to Costco in SLO for gasoline, I noticed that one of my tires was making a noise and I came to find out that the lug nuts were loose, created from work at an mechanic's shop in downtown SLO. Hoping to fix this problem and with it being 7:30 pm and no other places open to assist us with this issue, I went over to the Tire Center and spoke with Ryan who helped us out tremendously. He tightened each of our tires, with a torque wrench, spending his time to fix the issue, and showing his genuine concern for our safety. I tried to express my appreciation and compensate him for his work but he just said "Thank you, but I don't accept tips. We just appreciate you being a Costco member." It is not often that you find care and service in this day and age, with such sincerity for your welfare and safety. I highly recommend Costco Tire Center for all of your automobile's tire needs. If this individual is representative of the Tire Center's attention to detail and customer satisfaction, it truly speaks volumes. After leaving Pismo Beach and on our final leg back to the Bay Area after our SoCal road trip, we stopped at the Costco in SLO on a Monday afternoon according to our plan to top off with gas. It's a small gas station with three island with a total of 12 pumps. Hence, each line had about 4-5 cars waiting. After filling up, we decided it would be good to stretch our legs and check out the offerings of this store. The store was not crowded and the one thing that we saw and bought was the Firestone 2022 Parabola. A delicious beer we had as one of our stout sampler while visiting the Firestone Taproom. It was great price at $7.99 a bottle as the Taproom was selling it for $10.99. That's why I like stopping at Costco when visiting other areas as you can find local products. read more

I was surprised how empty the store was. The Costco stores in my area are slammed all the time. We had an issue with the food court, of all things. We asked the food guy how long it would take for a whole pizza. He said 15 minutes. We ordered at the kisok and got in line. It took 12 minutes to get to the front of the line at which point they scanned our receipt and said they'd start the pizza and it would be another 10 minutes. Wtf! He said that's how it works there. The kiosk doesn't tell them what food to start making, the scanned receipt does, and they were short staffed. I went to the store exit and asked to speak with a manager. They told me I could go find a manager at the info desk. I reminded them I was the customer and they could send the manager out to the food court. Supervisor Noah came out, apologized, and said he'd refund our pizza price and get the pizza done ASAP. He went in and came back out with some rando lady with no vest and no name tag. It was clear she was looking for an argument. Somehow, she knew our pizza was already done, but we didn't, even though we were standing at the food court the whole time! We asked for our pizza so we could leave but she wanted to continue to argue for whatever reason. At that point we pressed for the refund AND the pizza since that was already offered. 20+ years as a member and I've never had an issue until this garbage. read more

Who doesn't like saving money? Costco is a good store for home & personal goods, that is a dreamland of deals. If one needs mass qualities of a particular item, this warehouse store can usually fill that need. The employees at this location are very helpful and friendly, and there is usually someone nearby to assist with any questions. We appreciate the store's policy that requires all customers & employees to wear a face covering during this pandemic. This is critical to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus from an asymptomatic individual who does not realize that they may inadvertently transmit the virus to children, family members, friends, as well as the general public. A dislike is that items can come and go. After one has found a favorite product, it can disappear for months or be completely discontinued. A few hints in helping to save & stock-up on one's favorite items: 1. If one sees an asterisk mark (*) in the upper left hand corner of the price card, it indicates it is the final sock, and will not be re-shelved, so stock up if it is a favorite. 2. When the price ends in a "9", as the final digit of the price, it indicates it is marked at Costco's original low price, which is usually a good deal. If you see a price ending in $.97, $.00, or $.88, that means the product is marked at a final discount, and is the cheapest it will ever be. 3. They have a price-matching policy that, if any product you have purchased within the last 30 days goes on sale, one can request a refund of the difference. All in all, we enjoy shopping at this Costco, the employees are always upbeat & helpful, and items are generally easy to find with some legwork. During the checkout process, if lines start to get very long, they usually open up additional registers to keep the flow steady & a shorter wait-time for the customer. Traveling and stopped here to get gas for my car and pick up a few items. We decided to grab some food at the outside food court. There were plenty of tables, service was fast but this place is filthy. The tables were dirty and there was trash all over the ground. It was so filthy that we decided to eat our food in the car. This review is for the gas pumps only as I have only ever stopped there on road-trips up & down he Central Coast. This location has some of the best gas prices in the area. Gas has always been pricey in this area but in recent years it has gotten out of control. Because of that, everyone is looking to save anywhere they can which means demand on this station has gotten noticeably higher. Don't be expecting to get in and out quickly (unless you're coming at random off times). You're going to have to wait. But the good news is that they have a good amount of pumps so things do move. And it seems like a lot of people don't go for the furthest pump so if you are able to make your way over to that line, you'll probably beat out a lot of people waiting at some of the closer pumps. Ultimately, if you need cheap gas and aren't in a rush, then you don't need to look further than this Costco. However, if you're in a rush, just keep on driving. This location isn't for you. read more

We're big fans of Daou and Justin and they have a variety of whites and reds from both wineries. In the bay, we've only seen Cabs for both. There's some unique foods I haven't seen anywhere else: orange and black garlic cod, mini Reuben pot pies and pistachio cream. Also, they have Ivar's clam chowder. My fave! read more

I don't know what's going on with your pizza, but it is epic failing and disgusting. Yesterday I purchased four pizzas for a gathering at work and the pizza was RAW, BARELY COOKED, AND NOT CUT CORRECTLY. Nobody could even tear off their piece of raw dough pizza.
