So in the last couple months I've ordered 2 cakes from the bakery. I picked up another one I ordered today. They taste great but the decorating on the cakes is so poor it looks like a drunk oaf decorated them. There should not be cake crumbs mixed with frosting all over the sides. That's amateurish. The designs are very very poorly executed. A real mess. How about some staff training? Update. My adult daughter said the cake also didn't taste right. I thought it was more sugary taste than usual. This was a great experience not only did I find every single item I was looking for I found some awesome whiskey samples. Wife is out of town so I was looking for some easy dinners for the week. I found easily some pot pies, enchilada bakes and sweet and spicy sesame stir fry to simplify my week. The store is always clean and stocked. Prices are typical to Costco which is simply exceptional. As I said I saw a 24 whiskey sampler for $140 which usually cost $250 or more from competition. The check out was easy and fast and zero hassle getting loaded up. The San Luis Costco is stocked. It's clean. And it's an excellent choice when looking for great buying experiences. Don't hesitate to stop in at the local SLO Costco. I choose it far and beyond over my local one. read more

Stopped by yesterday on the way to Morro Bay. My wife needed a jacket wind breaker or sweatshirt due to the cooler weather. A nice store and good values. SLO Costco, the management needs to review customer service among your employees. I was met at the card check in with not a nod, or hello, but scowl by the employee stating I could not bring any outside merchandise in the store. I had a bag from Old Navy with receipt inside. Same statement from the return desk when I asked if I could leave the bag there. I understand the policy, but both employees were dismissive and bordering on rude. No explanation given, just get out and don't bring in anything except yourself. i find that lately, the customer service and manners of some employees at this particular Costco is lacking. read more

I remember the price club days in San Diego as a kid, no parking, crowded and absolutely enormous. However, as a 50-something, Costco doesn't seem all that big any longer or as crowded. Monday, 9AM is my weekly Costco trip, I should probably only go if I need something, because, and we all know this, you walk out with stuff you didn't intend on buying. Am I right? I've only been an executive member for going on 3 years now, the first year, I didn't go to Costco, but since retiring it's a weekly trip and usually there will be something on the Costco list we need. The SLO location is great for me, about 30 minutes from Paso, easily accessible, lots of parking, Costco gas and the reliable food court we have grown to love. I walk the store weekly, never in a hurry to get in and out, but the only time I've seen it really crowded was Thanksgiving week, 2025, but even then it was manageable once inside, it never felt crowded and the check out lives, including self check weren't a long wait. I feel the employees do a great job keeping the store stocked and clean, making it easy to navigate. I have use the optometry department, which was very easy, albeit a little bit of a wait to be served. They took all three of my prescriptions and I found a frame and a few weeks I picked my glasses up. Since then, they have repaired them once, no charge. If you need glasses, get them filled at Costco, so easy, good selection. Overall, I am happy with their selection, there are things I wish they would stock, miso marinated sablefish and Tejava being two of those items. It's nice to see some new items as I stroll the aisle and overall it's s great experience in SLO. Can't forget that hotdog meal on the way out, still a deal at $1.50! read more

Have you had the new caramel brownie Sundae from the Food Court? We ordered the twist (swirled vanilla and chocolate soft serve). Unfortunately there was only a 1/4 inch ribbon of vanilla in it. The caramel consisted of about a 1/4 inch on the very bottom with a small amount drizzled down the sides. Finally the brownie bites on top were quite dry. 3 stars only because my husband liked the chocolate ice cream. I would not buy again even at only $2.99. read more

Justin helped us so much on our trip from the bay to SLO. We got a flat tire in the evening but with help from Justin, we were able to make it back to our home a few hours away safely. It was a last minute fix and Justin made it happen for us without any questions asked. We got home safely and didn't have to get a hotel thanks to him. He is Awesome!!! read more

Absolutely horrible experience in self checkout on July 13, 2026 at 6:45pm. An elderly woman working self checkout decided to harass me for shopping with my roommate who has the membership. At no time did we break the rules. However, as a result of this unnecessary confrontation, I will not be buying my own membership. I don't know what point she was trying to prove but she caused Costco to lose money today. read more

Food Court review ! I just had a hot dog at the food court at the SLI Costco . What a disaster !, the food court is a mess , all tables were dirty , ketchup , mustard etc dripping at self service area . The employee , Carson , threw my food at me , acted insulted when I asked for onions , Told me they did not have onions but a nice co worker spoke up abd said "yes we do have onions "! Carson just did not want to be bothered with my simple request . Thank you nice guy for speaking up ! The relish containers ,were also empty, I brought them to the counter to give them a clue to fill them so other Custoners could have relish on their hot dogs. No one , other than the nice onion guy , behind the counter acted like they had ever had customer service training . There was only one other customers in line so being rushed can't be the excuse for such shoddy service . This is the type of experience that is becoming all too common in the service industry . Cheap price is not worth being treated like you are not important . Costco you can do better ! read more

We were able to get a 24-pack of Gatorade sticks for $9.97, a two-pack of turkey gravy for $2.97, and various biscuits for 30-50% off original price. His named Pablo was unprofessional and he does not represent your Costco brand. There was no one in line at 18:59, check your camera. Please teach him to show courtesy to handicap Senior citizens. The item I return was extremely heavy to lift, but another sweet and kind employee helps me put the Airfyer in the basket, hire a thousand of him! Pablo was lazy and his action to me was shocking. Costco Tire service at this warehouse is awful. While the warehouse store fine otherwise, the tire shop is sorely understaffed and poorly supplied. My terror ride started after ordering and paying for a set of 4 tires in the shop. Prices are good; selection limited as is usual for Costco. And the retailer promises delivery within 3 to 5 business days. Great! I called back to check a few days later: not in, check back in a few more. OK. Called again after a full week: still no tires. Called again at the two-week mark: maybe they're in the delivery that just came in, call back tomorrow. So I called on what is now the 11th business day after paying for the tires: they're here. Yay! So I get an appointment for the next day (the 12th business day, in case you're counting) and I show up at the appointed time to learn it will take one hour to 90 minutes to get them installed. Wow, seems like a bit of a wait to mount 4 tires, but OK. I shop the store and return to the tire shop with my cart about 70 minutes later. Not mounted, so I'm waiting in the sales area, inhaling new tire fumes. Another customer also waiting for installation is told there's only one guy in the back shop. At one point, the lone guy running the sales counter disappears for 20 minutes. Three other customers come into the shop, look around for awhile, then leave during that time. Now 2 whole hours after my appointment, I'm waiting, standing at the sales counter when the door to the back shop opens and another worker looks out, sees me and retreats back into the shop. Finally, a couple minutes later, the counter guy opens the door and yells over to me: "Ten to 15 minutes!" Wow. OK, that's the first time anyone from Costco has spoken, texted or emailed me regarding the status of my order without me having to make a call or asking first. And for the first time Costco met expectations: after 10 minutes I get a text to come get my car. Overall, a very disappointing experience. The workers were generally brusk and testy, but who wouldn't be, dealing with frustrated, irate customers all day. The managers running this operation are failing both their customers and employees. So the prices are good, but I'm not buying tires there again. read more

Quality/Quantity - So many local supporting businesses here, see pictures. I used to buy cases, yes cases, of wine here for only $36; I sure miss the good ol' days. And the wine was good, at minimum a good table wine. But actually good enough to also give as a gift. Atmosphere - Consistent. Outdoor food court. Plenty of outdoor seating. Open 7 days a week from 9:30am or 10am to 6pm or 8:30pm. Service - Self-service. Price - More expensive than the other Costcos we frequent. Not a lot of competition here. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2005. Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. After getting our few items scanned and going to pay my boyfriends card wasn't working so I went to go pay with my Apple Pay when this old hag named Jodie who was working there PUSHED MY PHONE OUT OF MY HAND and told me I wasn't allowed to pay, i decided to ignore her at first and went to go put in my pin and she puts her hand in the way so I wasn't able to. I was absolutely furious and shocked at where she gets the audacity to stop a customer from paying. Actually so weird. To whoever answered my call at 10:30am today in the Costco Tire Center, I hope you find another job where you don't have to answer customer phone calls. After waiting on hold for someone in the tire department I was extremely disappointed with the service I received once my call was taken. The disrespect and attitude from you was completely unnecessary. I also work in customer service and it's truly appalling that you are allowed to work with people. Gotta love Costco, and as I go as often as I can to save $3 on a monster-size bottle of detergent along with $200 on all kinds of other things I don't really need (and a 5-year supply of it to boot!). I practically need my own warehouse to store it all, yikes! You usually can find someone to help you within a few aisles, and they are most helpful and friendly. If you need to return something, they have a ultra-generous policy. Highlights for me: the fresh fruit and veggies section, fresh meat, fresh whole roasted cooked chicken ($4.99), vitamin and supplements, the wine selection, the booze, and the samples around lunchtime! Tip: Go early or go late, but not at lunch or 530pm - the checkout process is long and tedious. Unless, of course, you need lunch and want to go for their AYCE samples! Checking out with my elderly friend who was in a scooter. I lost her before checking out and didn't notice what was in her cart. I put the items down, and HOLLY immediately comes over and picks up the pillow my friend was going to buy and said LOUDLY "You took the display item!!" She than picked up another item and says "you cant buy just one bag of bagels!" (Apparently 2 are together) HOLLY was extremely rude, in fact I told her she was rude! It was VERY noticeable that my friend was handicapped. HOLLY then starts to argue with me "Why am I rude??" She says. The line behind me was long and everyone was watching. Instead of running and getting my friend another pillow and bag of bagels, she took them away.....WOW!! HOLLY wasn't the checker, and could of helped my friend still purchase her items. Instead she walked away and started picking on the people behind me. Later that same day I went to Trader Joe, the clerk noticed one of the eggs I was buying was cracked, right away she rang a bell and another clerk came over and ran and got me another carton of eggs. Brianna was incredibly rude and condescending to my boyfriend and I as we tried to use EBT to pay for our joint groceries. She refused to let us use the card under my membership as it didn't have my name on it, and I understand that policy is policy but the manner in which she treated us was so unnecessary and honestly really surprising for Costco. As college students with a valid membership it's really off-putting to be spoken to like that by an employee and I don't feel any desire to renew my membership next month or return again. read more

We always like to stop at the SLO Costco when we're traveling through the area. Great product selection.

Very busy place. Their food court is outside just in case if you arrive hungry and you get confused and dizzy inside. They had a little plenty of stations to feed you and to have you taste some stuff. I tried the Tyson chicken today and it was surprisingly good. Parking is easy even though there is a stop sign to get in that is annoying. There are trees here and they're scattered through the parking in case you want to have shade. It was clean inside and it looked like typical Costco without any drama. read more

It took over two hours to have my tires replaced. I was told it would take about an hour or an hour plus fifteen minutes. A couple ahead of me was given a substantial amount of time because they were buying tires and to my amazement were having their tires put on right away. I was patient until two hours and ten minutes went by and I never got a text that they were done. I went into the garage and the guys were chatting away in a corner while my car was still in the garage. The young guy came over to me and said they just finished my car. I told him it took over two hours and he said they were short staffed and if I had a problem go tell the boss. If they were so short staffed why were they just chatting away instead of notifying me my car was done. My guess is they finished and didn't notify me. They also gave preference to the couple ahead of me who just purchased tires. Not happy and will never go to Costco again for new tires. While on a recent trip on 7/23/24 to Costco in SLO for gasoline, I noticed that one of my tires was making a noise and I came to find out that the lug nuts were loose, created from work at an mechanic's shop in downtown SLO. Hoping to fix this problem and with it being 7:30 pm and no other places open to assist us with this issue, I went over to the Tire Center and spoke with Ryan who helped us out tremendously. He tightened each of our tires, with a torque wrench, spending his time to fix the issue, and showing his genuine concern for our safety. I tried to express my appreciation and compensate him for his work but he just said "Thank you, but I don't accept tips. We just appreciate you being a Costco member." It is not often that you find care and service in this day and age, with such sincerity for your welfare and safety. I highly recommend Costco Tire Center for all of your automobile's tire needs. If this individual is representative of the Tire Center's attention to detail and customer satisfaction, it truly speaks volumes. Worst Costco ever!!!! I can go any time of day and get the same crappy attitude from front to back!!!!!! Every time I go I'm so upset when I leave! Can't get help, don't honor their sales, want you to go take a pic of the posted sale price and bring it back to the register so they can honor it. That's not my job, I need assistance getting around and it's plain to see, so the check out girl tells me I can talk to the supervisor standing against the wall, which I did and he was uninterested. I told him it wasn't my job to go to the back of the store, take a pic, then bring it back to the check out. NOT MY JOB!!!!!!! Raise the membership and get no help!!!
