Been here many times over the years and always good BBQ and service. they are still a great place to go to eat some bbq and they also have a small bakery station in back right corner. Plenty of parking and seating Indoors and out... Ribs, chicken, sliced and chopped beef sandwiches, huge fully stuffed (brisket) taters are a must try!!! Hard to eat the whole tater you'll take half home for late night snack! Boudin and cakes and cookies. I was actually going to stop at Buc ee's for a BBQ sandwich. I had been driving for 6 hours on my way home craving one. Buc ee's is on the opposite side of the freeway. I decided to shop local though. This place is a convenience store and gas station as well. The place was pretty busy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You order from one counter and then check out at the convenience store counter . I just grabbed a chopped beef to go as I wanted to get home already. Let me tell you the sandwich is huge. I did not get sides but grabbed a bag of chips and headed out. Let me tell you that trying to eat this while driving on 290 was not a great idea lol. They gave me a ton of meat on this sandwich. The sauce was mild all around but had a fair flavor(next time I will get the spicy sauce). I ate as much as I could without crashing and there was enough for a second meal. This used to be my favorite bbq spot in texas.now they barely smoke the meat and every time you go they are out of most things..since they didn't have top cut , I ordered a smoked turkey potato.they put LUNCH MEAT as smoked turkey...when you go to a smokehouse you do not expect to get kroger lunch meat..i don't know if it's the manger or the owners but the quality has dropped below reasonable standards.ibhooe they fix this since i have been coming here for more than a decade....what a shame read more

Just ate here, I had barbecued pulled pork, it was decent though I have had better. My husband had a Walker Dog it was huge, he liked it a lot. Staff was pleasant, restrooms clean, and any easy access off 290. Bakery was closed, but lots of sliced cake available at order window. read more

Alright so the low ratings don't represent my experience! Food: the fatty brisket is amazing! Why would you ever order lean brisket? I saw some folks do a review crying about the brisket but they ordered lean! Order the fatty moist brisket which is absolutely amazing and full of flavor! The smoked boudain was really good as well. Very tasty and I would definitely get it again! The sausage on a stick was very good as well. They had serval desserts that I would like to try. I will definitely make this a routine stop for me when coming back from Austin. Once again don't let the reviews full you. I really enjoyed the food here! I talked to Suzanne, we set up a time to meet to talk about our event for catering and it was a NO SHOW. then I reached out to "catering manager", Overton 2 weeks ago. We set up an appt with him for this Sunday. to confirm our appt I called him, he didn't answer; I called the restaurant and they told me he wasn't there; then texted he responded by saying that he'll text me ,"in a minute", that he can't do Sunday, 780 minutes ago!!!.. Honestly, I'm glad he did this now and not at the day of the event. that was very irresponsible and not professional! Just Imagine him being a "no-show" for the event? Mediocre...at best. I ordered the sliced beef (lean) plate and an iced tea. It was $19 and change. Yikes! Beef was moist and tender, but utterly lacked flavor. I assume it was cooked in an oven rather than a pit. The spicy barbecue sauce was flavorful. The potato salad was not appetizing at all. Tasted like it came store-bought like the family reunion style container. The pinto beans were actually pretty darn good. One table mate said the sausage was dry. Another said the chicken was not bad, "but still not as good as Rudy's." Overall, just not sufficient value for such a high price. Also, clean the bathrooms! Gross! This place is ok. That's the best way to put it. I come here, because it's convenient, not necessarily for good food. I tried the loaded bake potato with turkey meat and it was fine. Their bbq sauce taste weird; it's almost like a bitter ketchup. The turkey meat was also dry. On a separate trip, I tried a brisket sandwich and that was the best thing they have to offer. It's a good meal if you just want to get something in your system. The coconut cream pie taste good. It reminds me of something I'd get from the grocery store. Second visit: waited 30 minutes in line (wanted to see if it was worth it), ordered brisket, BBQ beans and green beans. First, beans (both) are temperature hot(!), both have bacon and both taste good. Second, brisket came chopped not sliced. Not what I expected. Moistness ok. Flavor- I've had better. Sauce- you can choose normal or spicy, on the meat or on the side. I chose spicy on the side, since I look at my BBQ like I look at steak - it shouldn't need I any additional stuff, if it's cooked correctly. Not in this case- I used 3/4 of the "tub" on the meat, but at least no salt or pepper. Found a sliver of an steel/aluminum scratch pad on the meat (at least in wasn't IN the meat). Healthy portions, not skimpy. Not "first time visitor" user friendly. read more

I had been wanting to go back to this place since we used to stop on our way to Houston several years back before Buccees. I was disappointed in the service and the cost. My husband ordered a two meat plate and after saying he didn't want sides he was told he "had to get sides " the kid behind the counter mumbled and wouldn't even look up. They charge $2 for each slice of standard white sandwich bread. They charge $3 for chives. They couldn't find bread on the cash register (duh, because slices of bread should be free with purchase) so they rang it up as jalepenos. We obviously decided to skip the bread, chives, and sauce. The idea of 24 hour BBQ enamored me. Heck, it enamored me enough to disregard the negative reviews on several review sites. Here's the problem. It's basically a bare bones convenience store with BBQ sometimes. I stopped in Sunday morning while returning to Austin from Houston. I walked in and it's actually a weird mix of a limited convenience store, bakery (which was closed), and a counter where you can order BBQ. While the website mentions a breakfast menu, it wasn't on display. After a minute, one of the ladies at the counter took my order. (For what it's worth, they're still under most of the COVID precautions at the counter minus a mask requirement for customers.) Since breakfast wasn't an option, I ordered a chopped beef sandwich, which is usually a safe, reliable option. She then told me she'd have to check in the kitchen because the only meat she had ready to serve was sausage. After a few minutes, she returned with a metal container full of chopped beef. I had a sandwich on a hamburger bun with their spicy sauce and a large iced tea. Verdict? Underwhelming at best, especially for a place that promotes itself heavily online. The beef wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. And even the spicy sauce couldn't hide the one taste prevalent throughout the sandwich -- sweet. As in overpoweringly sweet. Sweet is not a taste typically associated with Texas BBQ. And it took a lot of Louisiana Hot Sauce to even attempt to balance the sweet. Long story short. There's also a Buc-ee's at this exit. You're better off with their BBQ, even though they don't have a seating area to eat on location. read more

OMG, this food was not even worth 1 star!! I have seen this place going back and forth from Texas A&M and Houston and decided to stop on 8/18/24. What a HUGE disappointment!! I ordered a brisket sandwich and it was NASTY! The absolute WORST bbq I've ever had!! It tasted and looked like it was boiled, (or something?) not a bit smoky or flavorful. It looked weird!! I read reviews of this place that I don't understand the rating if it was more than 1 star. After a while it actually made my stomach hurt, and I had only a bite or two! PLEASE save yourself money and a stomachache and don't eat this nasty, flavorless meat they call brisket. Got the stuffed baked potato with chopped beef all the way, & a Black berry cobbler. The potato. First off, potato's are usually pre baked so long in advance they are dried out from waiting in the heat, but this wasn't the case. I ordered to go, and after arriving at my location I opened up the normal white foam container to reveal a spud loaded down with chopped beef, sour cream, chive, cheese, and bacon. I ordered bbq sauce on the side, and glade I did because the sauce was already tossed with the beef, and it had the perfect balance.(didn't need the top drizzled with more sauce). Cobbler was as good an any. I've never had a bad one although I'm sure they are out there... just not at County Line BBQ I ate as much as I could with little left in my container and called it quits! So I follow the signs for the famous barbecue and all I got was Bland, bland, bland! If you're going to do barbecue you better do it well especially in Texas. The brisket was flavorless dry and you can tell from the pictures how dry it was. The ribs were also flavorless very little smoke did not taste like barbecue ribs. The potato salad was bland and the baked beans were nothing more than pork and beans out of the can heated up. To make matters worse the ladies handing out the barbecue seem more interested in talking instead of taking care of the line that was about 10 people deep took 20 minutes to stand in line to get this awful barbecue. The brisket isn't smoked much. Taste and texture is more like stew meat. Ribs are fine. Brisket could use a little more trimming of the fat and more bark so the you get a good bark taste, without a mouthful of fat. read more
