This is a very local business and I think on the right day we might have had a better experience. Today was a bad day. When we arrived the place looked busy. My wife loves that so she was happy. When we sat down it took a while for us to get menus. The server a young girl apologized 3 times before we got to order. When we finally ordered about 10 minutes later I got the CFS and my wife got a burger and fries. We suddenly noticed a large group of 24 people came in together and a few other small groups at the same time. I thought oh no this girl can't handle who's here what is she going to do now. She told us she was the only server tonight. I got worried that we may never get our food. I have a thing about my food being Hot when I get it. I guess they must have called in some help. A new server delivered our food but we had no silverware. I tried my wife's fries while waiting and they were cold. Once I got the fork I tasted my mashed and they were ice cold. I had also asked for white gravy and she got me a new fresh mash that was hot. The CFS was good but not great. The batter was good but would not adhere to the steak. She pics below. We took a trip out to Waller to check out the place. It's a small casual little roadside grill. It is not fancy but they are making some changes with the place, one of the partners told me. I had a great conversation with him. He is a very nice Christian man who gives God the glory for his business. (liked that). The food was pretty good. It was hot and fresh. During our conversation, I did share a couple suggestions and he welcomed hearing them. This place has a lot more potential to grow and by adding some social media exposure and maybe a couple other things. Let more people know what you're about. One thing I will tell you, the menu online does not match the current menu. So, please go with an open mind as to what might be offered. I hope that if you are in the Waller area you will go by and give it a try. They close up at 8 so don't wait too late. This isn't a fancy restaurant but it's a place to get good food and service in Waller. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly and have good honest recommendations. The food was served hot and fresh! The portions were decent but filling. If you're in Waller I recommend trying them, you won't be disappointed. read more

Went down the Apple Maps rabbit hole last night seeing what was available in Waller and came across this location first. Being a beer drinker seeing they had multiple taps and their menu seemed to favor, I made the 30 min drive from my house. First thing that I liked was there were actually two beers on the wall I've never had (still waiting to have 2nd one). When you've had 675+ different beers in the last year you're excited to try anything new. But the best part was the food. I had the "Liz" and it did not disappoint. That was two deep fried tenders pleasant bathed in buffalo sauce over a bed of m&c and drizzled with ranch. Sauce was perfectly spiced, cheese was perfectly made and not swimming. It's only 30 minutes from my house and I will return. Update 9/28/2027 Returned on this date to find out they're going through a menu revamp and the Liz has been removed from the menu. Now in their defense, the manager arranged to have the entree prepared as before, but I had to pay for tenders and two sides of mac n cheese separately. Apparently there was issues with streamlining the kitchen to get food out faster. So thank you for doing that for me, but please advise me through this app if and when you do put it back on the menu. I was in town on business and craving to sample good southern food. I must say out of all the places I sampled I really enjoyed this spot. The chicken fried steak smothered in gravy was amazing! The fried okra, mac and cheese - delicious! Had a couple of beers and spent a little time talking to Joel behind the bar - super nice and humble guy. I really appreciated the service here. I think I've been here 4 times, and I do believe this is the best spot to eat in Waller. Burgers are really solid, and this last time I tried the BBQ chicken sandwich. While a little different than most I've had (see pics), it was delicious. Sweet potato fries are very good. Fried pickles are awesome. Service is sweet and personable. On one visit, service was very spread thin, but I can't fault them for that - it's so common these days. Pretty good beer selection for such a small place. Little covered patio that's dog friendly. Stopped by Hedgehogs Grill for the first time today and ended up really liking it. I got the cheese burger and it was honestly great -- super juicy, cooked just right, and you can tell they don't skimp on the toppings. The place has a relaxed, laid-back feel -- kind of the way a good local spot should. Everyone working there was friendly and actually seemed to enjoy being there, which makes a difference. One of the best burgers I've ever had! Wish that I had thought to take photos but I was too darn hungry! I got the classic burger and my friend got the Monterrey burger. Both were so juicy that I had to ask for extra napkins. Our waiter, Brian was served us quickly and was so attentive! The fries were nicely salted - maybe with Old Bay seasonings and my side salad was fresh and tasty; I hardly needed any dressing! We went on a weekday for dinner and it had just the right vibe. When we entered the hedgehog, we were greeted warmly. There were plenty of beers to choose from, and the tea tasted just like grandma's from the ol days. I decided to get the burger, which was hard to choose from the rest of the menu. It was delicious! Our waiter, Jacob, was fast and very knowledgeable about the menu. Most disgusting food item ever ordered, & attempted to consume. They, literally, fried the bread with the shrimp. BREAD FRIED!!! Do you know what happens to Italian or French bread when it comes into contact with liquid? It soaks it up! Yup. A half a loaf of bread with soaked up oil. absolutely disgusting. The chicken "tenders" were dried up & burned. The child refused to eat them. We tried them & understood why. We did not pay for them. We also had sirloin steak & I had something I don't even remember. I am very grateful for one thing, I don't live anywhere near this place, & I know I'll never ever have to go back. It you want a great dining experience don't come here, I was a server here when management changed.To not get into further detail the new manager is the ugliest and rudest man i've ever encountered. The food has gone down hill and while he was training a new cook, himself does not know how to cook. 7 of my tables walked out on me leaving me unpaid for 4 hours. For my 1st time coming here after many years of passing it on my to go list. It did not disappoint and wish I would have came along time ago!!! Their fish tacos were sooo good with a side of green beans. Also had the Waller Philly and had full of flavor. I would definitely get those again and will be back again real soon too. I have left a previous review but wanted to add another. I was in the area with a coworker and decided to take him to Hedgehog. Once again I was not disappointed. I ordered chips and queso. The sweet waitress told me they were out of chips and I asked if we could have fries instead. I recommend this! The fries had a great seasoning that went very well with the queso. I ordered the Bacon and cheese burger () and asked if I could have mashed potatoes with cream gravy as my side. No problem. They're customer service and delicious burgers will make me a repeat customer again. read more

My wife and I arrived mid afternoon and there were 4 tables of patrons there. We were invited to select our seat and chose an open booth in the corner. We were told that the restaurant had no pork that day. The waiter came over pretty promptly and asked us for our drink order. We each wanted a glass of ice water and I also ordered onion rings as an appetizer. The waiter immediately apologized for the restaurant being understaffed and said that their dishwasher was broken, that they had no way to serve beverages and that he would look for some to go cups in the back. He came back several minutes later with two normal bar glasses filled with ice water (I don't know if they fixed the dishwasher, but there they were and they looked clean). The onion rings came. No sauces accompanied them. It was a nice portion - the coating was nice and crisp and the onion was "real" onion slices, not onion bits. Although the texture was really nice and I was excited to try them, I ended up disappointed. The breading on the onions was pretty bland. We ended up eating a few and leaving the rest on the table. (We usually take home leftover onion rings. Due to the lack of flavor with the coating, they just weren't worth it.) My wife got the reuben, which looked and tasted very good. Nice serving of corned beef and enough sauerkraut and dressing to make a nice sandwich and allow for each of the elements to contribute equally to the whole. The bread - a Texas toast, was nicely prepared. Although I prefer a traditional rye bread, the toast was a very good substitute. The chips that came with the sandwich were tasty. And lots of them. We couldn't eat all the chips. I had the fried catfish platter with fries and side salad. Two huge pieces of catfish that, when you removed the breading, was delicious. But, like the onion rings, the breading was Meh - pepper but no other flavor. Because of the breading detracting from, as opposed to complementing, the flavor of the fish, I ended up not eating much of the catfish. And didn't take it home. The fries were plentiful and delicious. Overall, the experience was ok. If we lived closer, we might try again as it might have been an off day. The waiter did keep apologizing. read more

What restaurant doesn't have tartar sauce for shrimp and catfish. The waiter asked us if we wanted wanted then states don't worry we don't charge for water. There were only about 4 other customers in the restaurant while we were there plus $5.50 for a beer. Come on this place was a joke and food not even that worthwhile. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised today! We are in Waller for a baseball tournament and everyone was starving after the game. The fried pickles are hands down the best I've ever eaten. Perfectly fried, not too much breading and not too salty. My chicken fried steak was yummy and my husband couldn't say enough about how tasty his burger was. So today's travels took us out northwest in the general direction of Hockley and Waller. Even though it was a few more miles away from town, we decided to stop in here for lunch. We arrived a few minutes before noon and our first surprise was that this restaurant does not serving lunch until the stroke of noon. Not 11:00, not 11:30, noon straight up. This was a first for me, but relatively minor as far as quibbles go. My mom decided on chicken fried chicken, while I had the chicken fried steak. The sides are green beans and mashed potatoes and I don't think there are any alternative options. While not the absolute best green beans I've had, these were still excellent. They add a bit of bacon and some onions for extra flavor which is a nice touch. The chicken fried steak itself was superb and the mashed potatoes were also excellent. All in all, I had a great experience and will return at the next opportunity. read more

I was here with the lometa uil team, and I love this place. The food is amazing and the staff is so fun and sweet. Our server, Rachel, is so fun and nice! She's our pookie fr fr. She made the experience fun.. and three of my friends had a mental breakdown here, but she was so supportive through it all. If I wasn't a child, I would totally give her a $100 tip. And! I was very pleasantly surprised with this place. It's located off the old main highway and looks pretty new. The main seating area is surrounded by garage doors, that were partially open over the beautiful fall lunch hour we were there. The menu is quite extensive, with a slew of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I ended up ordered the nachos with grilled chicken (could have also chosen pork tenderloin) and my coworker got the blackened fish tacos with fries instead of chips. Service was nice and attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. I must say that we were both impressed and pleased with our meals. My nachos had a delicious chipotle sauce mixed in with the white queso and the portion was huge. The chicken was also grilled to perfection. My coworker's fries were lightly seasoned and she said that the large piece of fish on each taco was seasoned and delicious. Traveled to Waller for a work trip. While looking for places to eat came across the Hedgehog grill noticed they had craft beer on tap so I decided to stop by. Due to the recent bad weather it wasn't too busy. Met the owner who was very polite and knowledgeable about the beers he had on tap from local breweries. The burger was one of the best I ever had if I ever end up in Waller again I will definitely go back. read more
