This Wallauer on Virginia Rd in North White Plains has paint and hardware products to solve every conceivable challenge. Over the years, we've used these guys for our quick and easy DIY home repairs because they know everything there is to know about paint and everything else. But this time around, our contractor is renovating the garage and prefers to use Benjamin Moore paint over any other. All I did was pick up some color swatches, decide, then let our contractor pick up the paint. These folks have a nice track record, are super helpful, pleasant and have gone out of their way to help us find the right item in their aisles or waiting for our paint to be mixed in. Some hardware items are average priced and others not so much. All in all, you can shop with confidence....we've never had any issues. read more

Wallauer Paint Hardware & Design - Several Shades Of Grey- (For The Garage) - Shades & Blinds Near Me - White Plains, New York

I stopped by the White Plains Wallauer store to ask about having a pair of garden shears sharpened. I understand that not every store offers every service, but I was surprised by how rude and dismissive the employee was. Customer service should include treating people with courtesy and respect, even if the answer is simply, "We don't offer that service." Instead, I left feeling like my question was an inconvenience. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be returning to this location. read more

This particular Wallauer is around the corner from my new work location. I needed some plastic drop cloths to protect some college dorm stuff that thanks to COVID-19, will be in storage for 6 months. I had used these for a small home painting job and found them a cheap and easy protection solution, but quite honestly I had bought them so long ago, I didn't remember if this was a HD thing or what. With Social Distancing and all, the clerk at the front counter was both physically distant and socially disengaged. He managed to point to a far corner of the store and said "Check there". I did and sure enough there were several options for cheap plastic drop cloths. I grabbed what I wanted and made a semi-circuitous route back to register. A) I needed to get to work and B) With this COVID-19 virus, I don't belong in a store, wandering around. This is a huge Wallauer and when this COVID-19 thing is done, I will definitely do some wondering around here. For those tool nerds, this store has a selection of high end Festool tools, the first time I've ever seen them in person. read more

Wallauer's has been THE best customer service received during our entire home renovation. I had help from Jason in the paint department and he went above and beyond to help me explore my stain options. Literally everyone at the store is so helpful and knowledgeable. I am so glad we found them and wish we had known about Wallauer's from day 1! Thank you! read more

Just stopped by and was shocked to find out the AC was not working, during the hottest summer season on record. In fact, the AC has not been working for the past year. This is the best selling store in Westchester and yet the owner is too cheap to fix the AC? What horrible working conditions the employees are forced to deal with. Does the owner even care about them or his customers? What a disgrace. read more

Terrible customer service at the ace hardware. (Can't comment on the paint store in the back.) I dropped by at 5:45 PM. Apparently, this is a big no-no. I was met at the front by an unfriendly store employee, his only words: "you better get what you need because we're closing". Unfortunately this wasn't the first time I've been treated this way here. Next time I'll be sure to arrive a half hour earlier to be more accommodating . . or, maybe I'll just go to the Lowe's or Home Depot instead. read more

Was helped by two different people in the paint department. First guy was trying to be helpful but I couldn't find my contractor's account information at first, so I contacted my contractor. By the time I got the information, this employee was busy doing other stuff. That's fine and totally understandable, so I was helped by another guy. This other guy in the paint department was less than helpful. All questions I asked, he responded as if he was more annoyed than anything because I was asking him these questions. I was looking for advice between Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paint. Since I used SW in the past and knew which line I was considering going with, I asked for his suggestion on a comparable BM paint and pricing on it. His response was "I don't know anything about Sherwin Williams so I couldn't tell you." I also asked him to look up my contractor's account to see what pricing I could get and he seemed pretty impatient as I looked it up on my phone. When he finally looked it up I asked him pricing on BM's top of the line paint and he told me the price in a manner that was kind of like "this is out of your price range." Uhhh, yeah. I just told you I'm looking at SW top of the line paint and want to compare pricing with your paint. Anyways, this was my first time at a Wallauer's and it wasn't a great experience with that guy. read more

Dear Sir/ Madam, I have been a customer of Wallauer's for over 15 years. I usually buy Benjamin Moore paint from your stores located throughout Westchester and Rockland County. I had borrowed 2 wallpaper books from your store in White Plains and paid a deposit of $ 54.19. I returned the 2 wall paper books as the customer does not like any of the samples in the 2 books. I requested a refund for the deposit of $ 54.19 and Ms. Laura who claims to be the boss of the design department refused the refund. At this time I will be calling my bank to dispute this charge of $ 54.19 charged to my account. In addition I intend to file a small claims case for not refunding the $ 54.19. I am going to send a demand letter to Wallauer's requesting the refund. I also will be notifying the Westchester County Chamber of Commerce, New York State Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau of this unfair trade practices. I will also make it my business to never buy any materials from Wallauer's as well as state the very unprofessional and unethical behavior by Ms. Laura from your White Plains store in my reviews as well as posting my poor experience had at Wallauer's White Plains Store. I hope that you will address this matter in a fair manner and return the deposit of $ 54.19 immediately to my card. If I am left with no choices then I will start all the actions mentioned above in a legal manner to get my refund of $ 54.19. I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest possible. Please be advised accordingly. Sincerely Jimmy J. Puthumana A & J Construction of NY, Inc. read more

George and staff are all awesome. Would definitely recommend going here over a home depot.

It's always best when shopping for items you're not normally knowledgeable of to rely on the advice of an expert. My experience at Wallauer's could have been so much better if only the fellow in the paint department extended himself. Who doesn't respect a terrific hardware store? Instead, I walked out feeling like a Yankees fan at Fenway. Really? I didn't invade his man-cave; I gave courtesy and expected it in return. What a shame that the salesman was such an ass. Not returning to this White Plains location again. read more

All I can say is WOW! Laura N. did an amazing job with all of my window treatments.....the quality and detail are unmatched. Her expertise was greatly appreciated in selecting fabrics. She knew what I liked better than I did! I am a picky consumer with extremely high standards. I could not have been more pleased with the treatments that she selected. She helped me modernize my home with simple treatments, and what impressed me most is that she did it with ease. John, the professional installer, was also very knowledgeable and helpful! I will definitely work with Laura N. again on future projects. read more

My entire paint and design work was supplied by Wallauer. Excellent staff very friendly. Besides Benjamin Moore is the best paint and Wallauer is the place to go for colors and design! They have a very large inventory to pick from. You never feel rushed to get out of the store! read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! ... but definitely stop in if you enjoy being judged. :) I used to work for Hunter Douglas years ago, so my husband and I decided we wanted a specific product for our sliders that we've previously purchased. I stopped in to their "Design Center" to: A) see if this product is still being produced and B) check out available colors and fabrics. Upon entering, 3 people were behind the desk offering help - an Asian woman (Let's call her "Woman-A"), a white man (innocent bystander), and a white woman with straight blonde/light brown hair, ~mid-50's (Let's call her Woman-B). I really wish I had gotten her name, but I was so taken aback, that I left in a hurry. ME: "I actually used to work for Hunter Douglas and want to buy some Skylines for my sliders, but not sure if they still make the product." (looking confused, Woman-B turns to Woman-A) WOMAN-A to WOMAN-B (pointing): "Yes, Skylines, over there." ME: "OK great, do you have some samples that I can look at to see the different colors and fabrics?" WOMAN-B: "We can take some take some measurements for you. We don't normally show you any samples until after we take measurements and get you closer to what you need." Um, do you mean the product I came in specifically asking for BY NAME for a specific window? ME (obviously frustrated): "Fine, I guess I'll just leave then." WOMAN-B: "OK." Newsflash, I'm familiar with HD's sample books and displays. So rather than just show me samples of what I wanted, Woman-B continued with a hard sell and let a customer walk out, clearly unhappy. It was a truly terrible customer experience. If I had to guess, she made incorrect assumptions about my budget by judging my telecommuting wardrobe of a ponytail and yoga pants. Big mistake, lady! Wallauer's, if you're reading this, you should speak to this woman who was working on 2/9 around 1 p.m. to ensure she doesn't insult any more customers (instead of posting a cookie-cutter response). However, based on other similar negative reviews, this seems to par for the course, so I doubt anything will come of it. read more

Top notch Wallauer branch, far better than the one in Yonkers. We picked up some paint samples here and even got reimbursed because our contractor had an account on file. Pretty sweet. They also have tons of home improvement stuff aside from paints. Staff was very helpful. read more

Had picked out new carpets and needed help with paint colors. I'd used the design center team successfully for help in the past when I renovated my kitchen and bathroom so I headed in with samples of the carpets and pictures of the rooms. Lexi King was so helpful and spot on! While there Lexi also pointed out I could use Wallauer's to replace my wood blinds and I'm now currently in the process of having that done as well. I highly recommend Lexi for help with your painting and decorating needs. She's patient and has a good eye! read more

Susan in the White Plains office home decor department always steers me in the right direction. She let's me see things through her vision. She puts together the right colors whether it is for paint, material or window treatments. It is a special talent she has and Wallauer should be proud to have her. We have made many purchases at Wallauer based on her suggestions. read more

Great selection, but staff is obnoxious and curt. Astonishingly bad. Every single time I go there, I feel that way. Sorry. Should also clarify that I clicked on the wrong location. The North White Plains people are actually quite helpful and nice. The Scarsdale store is terrible. read more

Ordering a new Weber grill during a pandemic supply chain shortage probably wasn't the smartest idea on my part. It was, all told, 5 weeks until I received it. Manager George took my order, stayed in touch with me on a weekly basis, apprised me along the way and even delivered it to my house personally. I consider this service above and beyond! Bravo! Just another reason why I don't prefer the big box stores. read more

Sad service person acted lousy like he was doing me a favor by accepting my purchase.

I don't even think this place deserves one star. My company holds an account with Wallauer's, and this is the closest location to the office so we've been in here multiple times/year. Not once have I been offered decent customer service. Maybe it's because I'm a girl- seems like most hardware stores generally treat me like I'm really stupid, but this place goes above and beyond. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Go to Bedford or Scarsdale- not worth your time. read more

We've been going to Wallauers for years now, and they've always been very helpful to our family and friends. Over the last 20 years, I have used Wallauer's Design Center for all my painting and decorating needs. During that time, I was assisted in choosing paint colors for my entire home, custom made draperies, window treatments and custom made cushions for dining room chairs, to name a few. Each time, I was treated with courtesy and patience, giving me plenty of options and suggestions. Everyone, from the paint department to the staff in the design center, was helpful and went out of their way to give me great customer service. I'm ready for another round of decorating and am excited that the design center has become bigger and better. It is truly one stop shopping for paint, wallpaper, window treatments, upholstery, pillows, etc. read more

Pelham, NY Store: Do not shop here. Bought Benjamin Moore paint that THEY mixed wrong. When room was finished, and i paid the painter $$$, color looked off. Not the painters fault.I noticed sample paint was correct but the gallons they gave me were marked right but mixed wrong. When i approached store manager he opened the leftover paint and said " yea this isn't the right color and i cant explain". So they "offered" to give me the correct paint for free but i have to pay painter again to paint, which was $1,000. I also told them if they had a painter i would use them if they felt comfortable paying them instead. After much discussion nothing was resolved. I work in the construction industry and will NEVER recommend them. Not the way to treat a customer. At least the painter is doing the right thing by reducing his price. read more

I worked with Dorothy who is amazing. Almost intuitive. She has a good design eye, is diligent and practical.

My coop purchased some tile from this store, based on the recommendation of one of their employees. When we received the tile, it was not the size that the employee had told us it was, and the store refuses to give us a refund. I would exercise caution in dealing with this store. read more

Was extremely disappointed in the company's professionalism; not only from an install perspective, but with the arrogance with which they responded to my concerns. read more

Run the other way. Dorothy is clearly skilled in design and has good ideas but flunks customer service. After six weeks I am waiting for a formal written estimate. She was very dismissive and in attentive. Does not respond to phone messages or email. Individual who scheduled home appointment was no call no show. Very disorganized. What a disappointment. After she learned from my decorator that she lost the job, then she calls. Do not waste your time here. read more
