Foley's had BETTER PRICE than the Supermarket! I decided to buy a Fix-A-Flat tire repair product for my son (who had a flat the week before) I went to my local supermarket, found Fix-A-Flat priced at $14, but figured Foley's might have it...and I like to patronize local businesses when possible. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you. read more

Great local hardware store. Family owned business with lots of products you won't find in big box hardware stores.

I've never been but was in the neighborhood and saw a LOCAL(!) hardware store. I needed three teeny items that I couldn't find in either Lowes or Home Depot. They had them here! I had to ask an older lady for help and she knew exactly what esoteric thing I was describing and where each item was. Check-out was a bit slow as the lady cashier seemed flustered by a line four people long (one with a request to gift wrap a purchase), but we customers were all patient. read more

I always go to Foley's first before resorting to Home Depot. Foley's is a good old-fashioned hardware store where they'll help you find just the right size of nail or screw, even if you only need one or two of each. They also have a useful array of housewares. I recently moved, and got my tea mugs there, and my picture hangers, and my bathroom waste bin, and...well, the list is indeed long. It's the kind of friendly store you make up an excuse to visit even if you don't really need anything. read more

This hardware store is awesome. Of course, it can't compete with Home Depot when it comes to tool inventory but it has all you'll need for most of your everyday projects. Head to the back of the store and you'll find everything from shower curtains to Le Creuset cookware. They also have excellent customer service. The employees are friendly, know their stuff, and they're quick to help. Try finding that at Home Depot. Support your local mom and pop stores. read more

Nice to have a local hardware store but was very surprised by the reception I received today. I arrived at 3:01 on Sunday. The store technically closes at 3 pm but there were plenty of people still inside. Staff locked the door at 3:00 pm as they saw me walking towards it, carrying my 4 year old son in my arms, and pretended they did not see me. People trying to leave had to wait and could not get out because the door was locked. I had to pick up one item that would have taken me less then 5 minutes. I waited patiently by the door a few minutes then knocked to get the staffs attention. She rudely yelled through the glass window they were closed. This is very bad business for a local community store. I have been shopping there frequently for close to 10 years. Overall impression: Reasonable selection of products. Prices fair; about 30 to 50% more than the Home Depot in New Rochelle, but usually more convenient. Staff knowledge is hit or miss. Especially with plumbing products. The staff at Brewer True Value in Mamaroneck is generally better. read more

I've visited this store a few times. Store is clean, bright and organized. So many items! Never have had a problem with their knowledgeable staff or products and would ask them to hold an item for me if I really needed it so that it doesn't get sold before I get there. REALLY rude and unfriendly cashiers. They NEVER say "thank you". Never ask if you found everything. Very, VERY poorly trained cashiers. They could not give a damn about you the customer. I shopped at Foley's for many years but finally gave up. I will not go back and be treated so poorly. There is another hardware store down the road where they are very nice and friendly. Even the big box hardware store a few miles away now gets my business. The selection at Foley's is OK but if you want an enjoyable shopping experience STAY AWAY. I was recommended by a friend to check this hardware store out and so I did. He gave it great feed back so I thought why not. First of all let me say that the staff was great, the hardware gentlemen helped me find everything I needed. and when I went to wait on line, I had a chance to view the cashiers at work and they were wonderful. well spoken, polite, and very professional about getting the customer rung up quick. What wasn't so professional was the owner of the store I guess. Running around like a chicken with his head cut off. The vibe of the store was immediately changed to very anxious and unpleasant. Everything else about this store was wonderful but hopefully that owner learns how to handle busy business without loosing his shit. read more

My family has been going to Foley's for as long as I could remember and I would love to give the store a 5 star review; the help I received in trying to find an item was great but the check out process/returns were terrible. There were two cashiers working the front; an African American girl and the other girl working with her were deplorable. They made it seem like they were doing me a favor by checking me out and like I was bothering them for a return. They heckle customers with rude names and crude imitations and giggle as they walk out the door thinking they will not be heard. I am sorry but you just lost a long time customer and should really watch your employees better. read more
