rock salt scam! i hired a worker and drove 16 miles because of the online advertised shown below (with a date time stamp shown as well) at the home depot in new rochelle. the only salt they had was a very limited supply (about 60 bags) of 25 lb. bags. i had to buy 16 at a total cost exceeding $350. they had no other street salt available and their stock man said they hadn't had any for the past 24 hours. this is a typical bait & switch routine guaranteed to boost immediate profits at the expense customer loyalty and local good will. shame on you home depot! don't trust anything on home depot's website - - and since they don't answer the phone to lie to you in person - just say no! don't go. read more

Service here is the worst. You have to chase down certain floor reps just to ask them a question. The other reps are walking or sitting down carrying on conversations and act like your inconveniencing them to ask anything. Spoke to 7 different reps and 2 more than twice just trying to get someone to cut some lumber for me. I literally timed that I waited over 30 minutes before I got feed up and ask for a manager. The manager got someone rather quickly, but the guy didn't have on any orange or display any markings that indicated he was an employee. If the manager didn't wait until he showed I would of never known he was supposed to be there to assist me. The manager even had to tell him to come to the right saw. After all that waiting and chasing down someone for help I was told they couldn't cut anything under 12 inches! There were no signs or anything to inform customers of this. Nothing! They suggested I use a hand saw, but I wasn't going to give that store or company my money after that. I will shop at Lowe's or the smaller chains from now on. The customer service here sucks! I've been very impressed by how respectful the staff haS been at the Home Depot in Hawthorne. Everyone is masked and their signage is excellent. While I've gone to the Home Depot many times over the last few years, this morning I was there by 7am. I wanted to make sure that I'd be among the few early risers and given my anxieties about the coronavirus, I wanted to avoid being around too many shoppers. As always, their garden department has an amazing selection of reasonably priced annuals and perennials. I was in the market for bricks for my garden but managed to walk out with gorgeous looking lavender plants that smelled great as well as a few other items that seemed to good to pass up. While many garden centers have Sold out of tomato cages, they still had a pretty large selection to choose from! read more

I do it to myself every time. Since it's planting season, I visit this Home Depot because of their large Garden Center. Staff is extremely limited, but, if I need some hardware, I need to pray to Jesus, that I find a sales rep in a short amount of time. That said, I'll mention something in their defense...I can always make sure that when I have a sales rep's undivided attention, I also receive the most helpful service at that moment. They do offer expert advice on anything that I may need help with, but make sure you have all your questions answered before you let the sales rep wander off. And pray- again, because, chances are, you'll be: frustrated, back to square one, needing someone's assistance and the searching begins all over again. read more

If you live in a co-op, avoid buying large appliances from Home Depot! It takes forever to obtain COI and permit from Home Depot. When I called their customer service number, some associates don't know what they are doing. They called the delivery team for info, but the delivery team never respond. So my calls to the customer service number don't help at all! When I emailed them for COI, no one acknowledged receipt or respond to me, so I am totally in the dark as to whether someone will actually address my request!!! Horrible!! read more

Staff is really nice and I'm sure they work hard. Place is always super busy with hundreds of people shuffling in and out. The 3 times I've had to ask staff for help finding something they were unable to help. Twice they told me to look online, which was mediocre at best. I would have benefitted from the staff member either helping me identify the right product online or ordering the right product to the store for pickup. Neither were offered. Two of those projects just fizzled out. For the third, I ordered what I thought was the right item(replacement grill) but apparently it was the replacement grill for the bottom of the grill, not the top part that you cook on. I have yet to return those two. I ordered 2 more but when they came, they were also off by .5" so now I will have to return those. Probably will just give up on this project as well. 0/3. Easy in and out with the road and parking lot there. Every employee looked like they worked hard but that they were happy to be there. Really friendly staff, a pleasure to interact with. read more

After spending about an hour trying to speak with ANYONE with ANY knowledge whatsoever about a particular product, a very sweet operator transferred me to Daisy. She listened to my questions and took the time to not only answer them but also to check to see if they had the product on the delivery truck, which they did. She was even gracious enough to measure the box for me to make sure if fit in my car. After years of reluctantly giving my business to Home Depot when I had no other choice, I was truly blown away with Daisy's customer service skills and genuine professionalism she displayed. I ordered a few things from Home Depot, medicine cabinet, faucet, and vanity with sink. I paid to have the vanity and sink delivered to the room of my choice. Came home today and found it on the lawn! No call the day before or at any point in advance AS I WAS TOLD! I PAID TO HAVE IT DELIVERED TO THE ROOM OF MY CHOICE!!!! I called and was disconnected with no call back (they knew my number via the order I was calling about). Called again spoke with a "manager". I asked what kind of customer service is this, I was supposed to be able to look for damage and the they were supposed to remove the packing...good luck... I said I have had 3 total joint replacements in the last 7 months what am supposed to do, "oh we can refund the cost for in home delvery and $20 to get someone to help you". Yes everyone was wearing masks, but not everyone had googles to protect their eyes. On top of that no hand sanitizers available in the restrooms. They have the air dryers though. My husband calls this the Home Depot that time forgot. Old fashioned service at its best. Every time we go it's clean, employees approach us to help us, people are friendly, and they have what we need. Today I did a return that was entirely hassle-free. The last time my husband and I went an employee spent 15 minutes with us helping us find the right-sized screw for a project. Huge shout out to Henry Timmons in Millwork at the Hawthorne store!! He was unfailing courteous and extremely helpful! (I KNOW -such an anomaly at Home Depot!) I need a new front door and he walked me through all the steps; was very patient when I misremembered the manufacturer of the door I wanted, and explained the process of getting a quote on installation and printed me a copy of everything --AND he explained that it might be possible to have the installer build out my jamb by 1/2 inch thus saving me $300 for a custom door. THEN 2 weeks later after I got the door measured by the installer and the quote for installation AND found that somehow after a round of emails they ordered me the custom door and the installation was ~ $300 more than I had thought. Needless to say I immediately tried to contact them by phone which was a complete exercise in futility! [Just DON'T attempt to call him or ANYONE at the store --it simply doesn't work - you go around in a loop forever! ] Anyway I decided the only solution was to go back to the store and speak to them directly. AND fortunately I arrived at ~2:30pm - Henry was there (he had just come onto his shift) AND he wasn't busy!! He spent literally an hour with me going over all the charges, explaining the extra installation costs; he called the installer for me and explained that not getting the custom door would save me $300 and they agreed and explained they would just need me to get a $40 external door jamb kit. So Henry fixed my order: he removed the custom door, had me order the online standard door and gave me a bunch of discounts on the other supplies so that I ended up saving another $100! He is a prince! I have never had a nicer and more helpful interchange with a store employee! Seriously they should double his pay!! Thank you so much Henry!! read more

I ordered carpet for a room, was told that one of three people would come and measure, was told to take a photo of the people who would come ( they have a post of the people in the store , which I thought was a great idea ) when the person showed , he was not one of the three I had a photo of, tried calling Home Depot to verify and they couldnt so I had to send him away. Terribly mismanaged store. We needed three or four items, and got erroneous or no.answers regarding their location from multiple employees. We bought a bag of sand, and it started leaking whilecon our way to cash register. It took a 10mn discussion to get employees to resolve problem. We wanted them to take out the bag four cart. They were in suspended animation. Finally, my husband did he said let s get another cart to get a new bag. A total.comedy of errors. I should have checked the reviews before coming here. The other posters about this store are right. The service here is very poor. My wife and I have literally spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at Home Depot for the various places we have owned. We just needed a simple set of blinds for a guest bedroom, but it took a long time to place the order. But the real horror story has been on getting them, We were promised delivery on 11/16. When they did not arrive by the 18th we were told that they were on the way. A call to the store's "expediter" revealed that they were not shipped till the 19th and will not arrive till the 29th!! Deceitful? Incompetent? You decide. Update: Got contacted by a HD social media specialist offering help. Unfortunately it was on the day I got the blinds which was 13 days after the promise date and 5 days after I needed them. read more

I hired Home Depot to measure and install custom shades for my windows. Their service was horrible. First off, I was told to call them to schedule the installation once the shades arrived at my house--but every time I called, I was put on hold for an hour or more. (Not an exaggeration.) Then they sent different people to measure the windows than to install the shades. So the person who measured, measured the molding instead of the actual window, so the blinds they sent were not the correct size for the window. They have to go above the molding. It would have made more sense to have one person both measure and install so they can get the correct materials to complete the task. On top of that, they sent me two of the wrong shades. I ordered all cordless shades and they sent me 2 that had cords. So when the guys came to install them, they could not complete the job due to the error in delivery. So now I have to call Home Depot back to try to schedule another delivery and installation. I've already left two messages and my husband even went to the store to try to get it done in person but they told him that the window guy wasn't there today so again they were no help. And the saga continues. I would never use this service again. read more

Having recently moved out of the city, I was spoiled by the great Home Depot in Manhattan. This one is much more like your typical Home Depot. That means you'll have a hard time finding someone to help you out, when you find someone they probably will only have a little bit of an idea of what they're doing, and they may be pretty unhelpful. After that sort of punishment you'll have to checkout where you face Home Depot's stupid policy of replacing cashiers with machines that barely work. Lemme tell you, it's awesome when you want to check out and you see that there is one cashier working (who has a line a mile long), and four automated machines. Unfortunately, it seems that there are never more than two of the machines working at a given time, and they always seem to be occupied by people who either 1) have never used any sort of technology and are in a trance by the magic of the machine and therefore moving very slowly, or 2) trying to use the automated checkout for a cart full of 2x4's and getting frustrated because the machine keeps saying that the item wasn't placed in the baggage area. But hey, it's close to work, reasonably priced, and they seem to have most everything you'd need. read more

Since I work from 8am to 5pm every day I'm forced to shop at Home Depot for my DIY projects otherwise I would go to my local hardware store or lumber yard. The main aisle at Home Depot Hawthorne where the registers are have displays sticking out which cuts the aisle down to 3' or 4'. You can't even get 2 regular shopping carts through at one time. The regular aisles ALWAYS have some type of obstruction making it hard to navigate and hard to get products off the shelf. So the store is a nightmare to get around and I usually leave the store frustrated! I typically check online for product availability and location so I don't waste time in or going to the store. 50% of the time they supposedly have stock but the shelf is empty when I arrive 2 hours later. Multi-purpose sand, 1/2" sheetrock, paver sand and pressure treated 2x4's where all in stock but the shelf was empty. So trying to navigate a cart around forklifts and other obstacles to the bin where 66 bags of sand are supposed to be and there is just 1 torn bag is completely frustrating! As for the products, don't expect much from any Home Depot. The wood is terrible and the pressure treated was so saturated when I put a screw in it water came out. Guess I won't be staining that outdoor planter I just made for at least a week! Not to mention how warped and damaged most of the wood products are. Any type of cement or sand bag you will have to move several bags to find ones not damaged. My electrician refuses to install any light fixture purchased at Home Depot. My plumber laughed when he installed the faucet I purchased at Home Depot and said see you in 2 years to replace it. If you buy an appliance from them get the warrantee because the product will fail in 3 to 5 years. I've had my refrigerator fixed 3 times so far in the five years. Why the junk on the shelves? Home Depot dictates how much they want to pay for an item so the manufacturer puts inferior parts in them to meet Home Depots price. This sums up Home Depot.... Aqua Mix Sealers Choice Gold that is sold at HD in a 24oz bottle looks almost the same as a 36oz bottle I purchased at my local tile store at the same price. They made the 24oz bottle the same height as the 36oz but an inch narrower and a bigger gap on the handle! Unless you read the ounces or put the 2 bottles side by side you probably wouldn't know the difference. So you really can do more because you are not saving more at the Home Depot, but they are open when you need them. read more
