Front of store usually houses rotating seasonal items. They have a wide variety of kitchen/storage and other less hardware centric consumer items. Oscar and the painting section crew are great with custom colors and color matching. Being able to pick up a quart of a custom color has been very helpful for me over the years. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you.
