I had a really good experience at this hardware store. I stopped in looking for a specific part for my faucet, and Oliver helped me out. Even though they didn't end up having the exact piece I needed, he was patient, took the time to check options, and was genuinely willing to help. The store itself is well organized and easy to navigate, which made it simple to pick up a few other household items I needed while I was there. What a great hardware store! I stopped by to make copies of some keys. The guy was able to do in minutes for $2 each. Not that bad! The staff is nice. They were friendly. The guy who made my keys made small talk with me, and as a woman, I didnt feel out of place in this hardware store. On the contrary, they're friendly and helpful. I accidentally left my phone and one of the guys found me at the nearby bus stop and told me. How nice! This store is conveniently located within a block or two of the 1 train and a few busses. From what I saw, they sell everything: christmas lights, firewood, nails, glass jars, etc. read more

Be aware of discourteous treatment and/or procedural lacks in Ace Hardware return policies. I bought a car battery online on November 23, 2018. At that time I and was told that I could pick it up from their Port Chester, New York branch which was approximately fourteen miles from where I live in lower Westchester. In placing the order I was required to indicate the specific details and number of the battery that I wished to purchase. A week later I was notified that the battery was ready for pick up. I picked up the battery, which had not been charged by the way, and took it home to replace my old battery. That was not going to happen since the battery did not fit my car. I called up the Ace parent company to complain and to find out how to do one of their so called "speedy returns" from any of their independent branch stores. I was assured of prompt and courteous "return" service. I got neither, in spite of the fact that prior to going to the local Bronx Branch on Broadway, I had called the store and asked who I should speak to in order to get a speedy refund. I was connected to and spoke to someone who identified herself as "Rosie". At the time of our conversation on the phone she seemed pleasant and indicated that there would be no problem as long as I brought in the proper paperwork, which I did! Upon arriving at the store I was eventually able to locate "Rosie". She was anything but cordial or courteous, as she gave me one of what appeared to be her "who needs this" looks. She took the battery, and my paperwork, and put it aside to continue where she had left off in talking with one of her colleagues/assistants. When she noticed that I was not budging she finally told me that she could not get through to Ace Headquarters so she would have to give me a call the next morning. I asked for a "return voucher" for my battery to which she declined. She did however offer me the option of taking my battery back home if I did not like her service/advice. I pleaded with her to try the phone again because i did not want to go home without a proper credit voucher. She disdained this request as being illogical and unnecessary. Her colleague/assistant who was witnessing the whole saga, chimed in to tell me why i did not need a receipt for my battery. He dropped the attempt after I made it clear that I did not want to hear any of his crooked explanations! After standing my ground, "Rosie" told me that she finally got Ace Headquarters on the phone. I asked the alleged headquarters woman, on the phone, if she would email me a receipt. I explained that I was being asked to leave without any proof of having returned an item valued well over one hundred dollars ($100). The headquarters clerk agreed to send me an email to that affect, which as of this date I have yet to receive. In the end Rosie reluctantly did give me a written receipt with the name "Sheri" on it. This was over an hour after my previous request. Of course it was still not an official receipt, just a small yellow paper with a first name on it (not Rosie") !
