Today I dropped my car keyfob on the street and it stopped working. I thought I'd be spending the day waiting for AAA, but I went to Hastings Paint and Hardware and asked if they could help, and the man at the front desk took it apart, put it back together correctly, and didn't charge me a cent. I'm very thankful. Most of the negative reviews here on Yelp refer to the previous ownership. The people who work there now are terrific.

Instead of trying to help me, the senior guy in the store (the owner?) inserted himself in the conversation and proceeded to humiliate me by telling me there was nothing wrong with it. As a crowd of men gathered around, he continued to "mansplain" why I was wrong and he was right. Arrogance compounded by misogyny. I am certain that would not have happened if my husband had gone in, or if he has been with me. I am usually a big proponent of shopping local but not this place.

Foley's had BETTER PRICE than the Supermarket!…read more I decided to buy a Fix-A-Flat tire repair product for my son (who had a flat the week before) I went to my local supermarket, found Fix-A-Flat priced at $14, but figured Foley's might have it...and I like to patronize local businesses when possible. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you.

I specifically went to the Raymour and Flanigan outlet but couldn't find anything I liked. I googled other discount furniture stores in the area and stumbled upon this place. As soon as I stepped in, I saw a black velour couch I loved and would fit perfectly in my place. I asked the salesman if they delivered to Astoria. I was told, yes. I purchased the sofa and was advised that it would be delivered at 5 pm Sunday night. 5 pm Sunday, came and went...no couch. I called the store Monday morning and was told 7 pm that night. 7 pm Monday came and went. As of Tuesday morning, I was frustrated. The merchant never called to say they wouldn't be delivering the sofa Sunday or Monday night. However, they called Tuesday morning and as promised, the couch was delivered Tuesday night. I have a new sofa. The delivery went smoothly. Although a small, glass sunflower trinket I owned was broken in the process, the delivery men did help me move some items around in my place so that the Furniture would fit and got rid of my old sofa. I love my purchase!

I was struggling with a project and trying to figure out my wiring. I called the store and John literally spent 15-20 minutes listening and walking through in detail how to wire the switch. The fact he actually listened, worked it out in his head and gave me a genuine solution and feedback is unheard of these days. Usually you'd get the "I don't know you'll have to bring it in, we're busy". But John literally solved my problem over the phone with his knowledge of the situation and willingness to help. I will make sure to order from these guys moving forward since this level of attention and service is hard to beat and can't be found on Amazon..
