We're visiting friends in Billings and after trying numerous restaurants that had decided to close early, Yelp pointed us to Walkers. They were the only place open when we realized shortly before 10 pm that, by mandate, all restaurants would have to close and our chances to eat would be slim to none. Ross took care of us and we took some food to go before the kitchen closed. We enjoyed that experience and the food so much that we made a reservation for the next night. The food and service were excellent! Ross and Olivia are amazingly friendly and efficient people and made us feel welcome and right at home. Everything we had --from the pear and basil cocktail, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower shakshuka-- was delicious. The decor is finely chosen and the atmosphere had us lingering as long as possible. We came in on Super Bowl Sunday. Restaurant was very quiet. Immediately, the hostess gave us a great, warm smile and made us feel welcomed. Her response to my inquiry to how she was doing was, "Wonderful!" It was genuinely so. After her seating us, the young man who brought water was soft spoken and appropriate. Our server was Laci. What a sophisticated breath of kindness, competence and courtesy. Engaging and articulate, Laci gave us her menu recommendations. We began by sharing the mushroom toast. Such a simple plate so well executed. Very much enjoyed. We chose to split the beet salad. This was not the standard sweet and often cloying beet salad. There was some kick and pizazz to the melange of flavors and textures. The beets were both intriguing and enjoyable. Laci's advice led us to two exceptional entrees. My spouse had the salmon with hummus and parsnip puree. Gorgeous presentation, great portion and delicious. Laci's guidance was the duck breast. Flawlessly prepared, it rested on a bed of rich lentils and roasted heirloom carrots. This was perfectly medium rare with flavor combinations I savored. Great kudos to the chef. Of course, the apple crisp from Grandma was our dessert to split. Exactly as I remembered from years ago when Walkers first opened. Everyone, Superb performance tonight by all. Thank you, Bill PS. Wow. We just ordered Walkers on uber eats as a holiday treat and we are very happy we did. I worked there for 3 years and our delivery was up to the same standards as I always received as staff serving and eating in the building. It was very impressive. Tonight was my first time in Billings and I was recommended to go to Walkers. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is cause my meal came out Luke warm at best and was generally, cold by the time I made it closer to the bone of the lamb shank or the mashed potatoes. Now the good. The lamb shank had phenomenal flavor. I really like lamb shank, and this had a nice apple flavor. The meat was juicy and honestly, it's in my top 5 lamb shanks I've ever ate. Secondly, the service was exceptional, and the place was clean and courteous. And to top it all off, I walked in at 9:25 and ordered at 9:35, when the kitchen is about to close, so it's not like I walked in during peak hours. Such an amazing experience at Walkers! It was my father's birthday, and we arrived to a card that had been custom signed by all of the staff wishing him a happy birthday. The food was outstanding with a great incentive behind it (Sourced from local farms). We had the pork shank, buratta, and morel mushrooms for dinner and the apple crumble for dessert, all of which were delicious and inventive/ Dominic was an awesome server who was attentive, friendly, and gave us recommendations on fun things to do in the area. I was in town for business and came here on a recommendation of a woman I met who knows the chef. She raved about the Korean Beef Bowl, her recommendation did not disappoint! The menu features appetizers such as shishito peppers and entrees like curry and seared duck breast. The desserts are never too sweet and only serve to highlight the meal. Ok so let's start with service! Tyler was amazing and a rockstar server. He was pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable, and the best part of our night! Ambiance and vibe was cool. Kind of upscale bar/restaurant vibe. The food, however, was pretty average to below average. The wife had meatloaf (I know it's meatloaf but if you put it on your menu it should be stellar), and it was average at best, we switched meals so I ate some of hers and yeah... it's a gravy smothered meat that was meh. I had the braised pork with mashed potatoes. It legit must've come out of the fridge because it was cold. Think maybe Thanksgiving dinner that you'd make a sandwich out of. Good, but not as good as last night when it was cooked. My son had the burger and said maybe #2 he's ever had. That says something because he's had some serious food. So... amazing service 2 stars and 1 out of 3 dishes were good... 1 star. So 3 stars for amazing service, good atmosphere, and so-so food. I suggest trying and hoping your meal is a little better than ours and can hit that 4 star mark! Im in Billings for a week for work and i had a coworkers strongly recommend Walker's. Wow, just wow. I was so happy with my meal tonight. I decided to sit at the bar and start with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Delicious. The bartender was attentive and helpful. He offered me bread and butter to munch on which i rarely see when i sit at the bar in a restaurant I decided to stick with small plates and the first thing i got was the carpaccio. It was heavenly. The meat melted in my mouth and the olive oil and salt complimented the rich taste of the meat. I tried to eat slow so i could savor every bite. The next thing i got was the pork belly lettuce cups. Again. Another good choice. The pork belly was fatty and buttery with a good amount of sauce. The pickled apples ( i think thats what was on them?) were refreshing and went well with with the pork. I also love anything with crushed peanut on top. I was getting pretty full at this point so i skipped right for dessert. I usually dont go for the chocolate lava cake esque desserts but i was really craving chocolate. I got the chocolate souffle and it came out piping hot. The bartender told me to poke the top and let it cool down. After a few minutes it was perfect. The entire thing was moist and gooey. Usually the edges dry out but they cooked it perfectly. I seriously just had the best deviled eggs in my entire life. I've had deviled eggs at home, and in restaurants across America, but never like these. If these could be packaged and sold they would be flying off the shelves. The time taken to devise an egg with so many ingredients and make it to perfection takes dedication to the craft. As for my Halibut dinner set atop coconut milk, that was also fantastic. With all the flavor components in this meal, it pulls you in to want more after every bite. A little bit of mushroom goes a long way in coconut milk. The only thing I might say that detracts slightly from the amazing flavors your getting out of this dish is the pickled cabbage. By itself you'll wonder why it's there, but just try it mixed in with the coconut milk and then you'll understand why it's on the plate. It gives the dish another flavor to enjoy without overtaking the whole dish. Altogether I loved every bite of every dish tonight. I wish I could take the chef on the road with me to teach other chefs how to prepare a dish to perfection. If and when I make it back to Billings, this will be a mandatory stop. read more

I was however frustrated with the fact that it took 30 minutes to get a soup and another 35 to get the entree. One of the guests in our party got a rare steak that was still frozen in the middle. I typically go to Jakes across the street when I'm in town for business. When reading a review of Jakes someone mentioned Walkers has the better New York strip. I'm quite surprised since New York at Jakes is my usual go-to so I had high expectation walking into Walkers knowing what I was going to order. Boy was I disappointed. It's probably unfair to compare steak at a new American vs traditional steak house. Walkers's New York comes with Hollandaise dressing and cranberry sauce. Bonus on the flavor but the meat is just not cooked right. I asked for medium well and was served well done. The dry steak was hard to chew and ruined the dining experience. Medium well means at least I can see a thin pink center but my steak was basically fully cooked. It tasted like something I threw a cheap charcoal grill for too long. For a $35 steak I expected better. That being said I've had other dishes at walker including the Fresh Catch of the Day. Decent. Just wont order the steak again (happens to be the most expensive item on the menu). read more

Went to Walkers for a dinner meeting an Thursday 9/7 at 7pm. I ordered 1 of the specials. Pork center cut tenderloin with an oatmeal and green beans. The sauce on the pork was cold as if it came out of the fridge. The pork was over cooked and tough. All items were good flavor, but everything was cold. Room temp at best. I told the waiter and he offered to take it back. I kept it and suggested he tell the cook the food is cold. He comped me a drink. I was disappointed in the quality of food for what I considered a higher end restaurant. 2 others had meatloaf that looked amazing and said was good. And one had Dover sole that he said was mediocre at best. I'm sure I'll give them another chance. Hope it's better next time. read more

They have revolving specials for both dinner and dessert. They focus on quality ingredients and rich foods full of taste. I was very pleased with the Asian beef appetizer. As for the meatloaf, it's definitely not my go to but it still had a great flavor.
