I recently visited Billings to spend time with my cousin, and she suggested we go to The Marble Table for dinner. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. The ambiance was inviting, the western dècor was thoughtfully designed, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. One highlight of the evening was the Chef, Jason Marble, stopping by our table to introduce the dishes on the menu. I ordered the Shrimp Risotto, and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. For dessert I chose the Crème Brûlée, and it was exceptional. The silky custard the perfectly caramelized top made it a wonderful finish to an already memorable meal. The Marble Table delivered a fantastic dining experience. The steak in the steak risotto was a bit tougher than I thought it would be. The Elote Queso is killer and served with a ton of chips: Fire roasted poblano & green chili cheese dip topped with a blistered corn salsa & queso fresco served with house-made corn tortilla chips $14.00 The Burrata is outstanding and highly recommended: 4-ounce cold burrata cheese ball smothered in warm house-made marinara topped with basil & grilled baguette $11.00 The service here is fantastic - always pleasing. Generally poor service. Our waitress was great, but the... I don't even know what you would call the other person, but she was rather snarky about us not having a reservation. Chairs are not comfortable at all-- no back, no cushion, extremely small area to sit. Said they were fully booked also, but 45 minutes later when we left they weren't full. We purchased three food options: "Potato Pillows", "Comfort Marbowl", and Mac and Cheese. The two entrees were overpriced. The marbowl is worthless-- do not buy it. The potato pillows are good, but not filling (which makes sense given their lower price tag), and the mac and cheese was actually pretty solid. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the marbowl. We selected this restaurants randomly and we're all SO glad we stopped in. We're just passing through but if we ever return to Montana then we will return. Local beers on draft! The menu options are unique and diverse with a value on local and fresh. Kiddie menu that our little one loved.We went with the jalapeño corn fritters, kinda like hush puppies, they were a little salty but SO tasty! We also got the lamb meatloaf, which my husband LOVED, and the shrimp grits, which was perfect. The servings are Montana sized. We will definitely enjoy it again tomorrow. Grilled Roma crunch lettuce has a wonderful smoked charred flavor with their inhouse Caesar dressing and house-made garlic croutons shaved parmesan and full anchovies. It's like I've never had Caesar ever! $24 Comfort MarBowl...tasty fried chicken nuggets on top of red mashed potatoes, shredded white cheddar, sweet corn, house-made chicken gravy...its modern comfort food, delicious! $28 Lamb Meatloaf...an American classic amped with lamb with skin-on red mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, pickled vegetables topped with mushroom gravy. A great spot downtown, with huge portions and a tasty menu. Went here while visiting some fam. We shared a salad and the tuna tartare as an appetizer and grabbed a bottle of wine. The specials were either a ribeye or halibut. We got the ribeye special and the pork chop off the regular menu. Well made, well seasoned and again a large portion. Add to that the great service. Our waiter had only been there a couple weeks and seemed as if he had been there for a while. Owners were also in the house, great folks. If I could change anything, get a liquor license - a cocktail would be wonderful here. Parking after 6 is free down the street if street parking isn't available. read more

I am so glad we went here. I grew up in the Midwest and have been craving beef stroganoff for no less than a year. I can never find it anywhere. As soon as I saw it on the menu I had to go. Don't be intimidated the price tag, it comfortably fed two of us and my boyfriend is a guy that can put food away! The noodles and beef are locally sourced and perfectly cooked. We never felt rushed to make a decision and our server checked on us just the right amount of times! The only negative thing I can say is that we wish prices would have been listed with the specials. I assumed they would be more expensive, but I wasn't expecting twice as expensive as the highest regular item on the menu. Passed through Billings and looked for a spot to have dinner. Found The Marble table on a recommended list on the internet and I can see why they're in the top 5. I didn't have a reservation but staff was accommodating to me as I was alone. (Recommend reservations!) My waiter was great with recommendations and checking on me. Restaurant is on a main road in town and in a strip of shops. Layout was nice and open, only about 10 tables in the main room so get your reservations in like I mentioned. I ordered an item off the specials menu which is not listed but staff will read to you. Halibut with a lemon caper wine sauce over a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Let me tell you that s*** was amazing. Halibut was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. LARGE PORTIONS so be aware, I definitely had leftovers for how hungry I was. I also ordered the crème brûlée for desert which are all homemade. Not to sweet and perfect amount of chocolate flavor If I'm ever in Billings again, I will be stopping here. read more

I was very excited after seeing the menu, but disappointed by the food. In short, everything was too rich for my taste, covering good stuff with too much sauce and too many toppings. The heirloom tomato salad started with great tomatoes, but then covered them with a bunch of dressing/parmesan/other toppings. It's like when someone tells you they're "bringing a salad" and bring a jello salad with whipped cream on top. The fried chicken had great chicken and was my favorite dish, but it had too much other stuff on it. During my short visit to Montana, I made a list of restaurants I wanted to try, and this place has got to be on the list, given all the raves on the internet whenever I search for what to eat in Billings. They are closed on Sundays, but to my luck, I have a free Wednesday! So I dropped by for lunch. The restaurant has a cozy, clean, and minimalist interior. The booths are separated by partitions, giving each table a sense of privacy. The menu consists of elevated fusion food with a touch from all around. There's some Italian influence with Beef Bolognese and Risotto. There's also some Asian influence with Sticky Pork Belly Bowl and General Tso Cauliflower; Eastern European with Beef Stroganoff and Pork Schnitzel; and various American classics like Mac and Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie, Burgers, etc. They also have changing daily specials. I went for the Steak Risotto. Perfect portion! I've been to many restaurants that consider themselves fancy with the goal of less food for a higher price. I'm so glad this place is the opposite. Generous, satisfying portions! That's what we like! The steak was laid atop mushroom, herbs, and parmesan risotto and topped with an arugula salad tossed in lemon vinaigrette and crispy fried onions. While the steak was boldly (and deliciously) seasoned, the risotto had a milder taste to balance it. Apparently, the meat was heavily marinated in tamari and Worcestershire sauce before cooking, giving it a darker color. At the same time, I'm glad they picked a meatier, leaner cut to balance out the density of the risotto. Thus, here we have comfort food that is light enough. The salad adds not only color but, more importantly, texture and acidity to the dish. The presentation may not be as fancy as everything stacked on top of each other on a plate, but it was a very hearty and comforting lunch. Everything on the dessert menu looks good, but I have to go with the sticky toffee pudding. It's probably my favorite thing to order in a restaurant. As expected from a sticky toffee pudding, the whole plate exploded with sweetness. The cake was a smidge bit on the dry side but soaked up the sauce beautifully. A lovely way to end lunch, indeed. The service was excellent. The staff were amicable and accommodating. If I'm back in Billings, I would love to return. read more

The food at this restraunt was horrible. My boyfriend ordered a Chicken pot pie and what he got was a bowl of vegetables with a little bit of chicken and a double of puff pastry on top. It was practically unedible. I was sorely disappointed to say the least. This was my birthday dinner and nome of the food ordered by my additional guests was good. We wanted to bring in a birthday cake and they wanted to charge us for each plate used for the cake, even if we brought paper plates. My boyfriend's mom wanted to split a meal with her daughter and they said it would be 12.00 each to split it. I heard so many good things about this restraunt but I don't see where the positive reviews came from. read more

We are from Michigan and stopped in Billings for the night on our way to Yellowstone. I looked around on Yelp for restaurant recommendations and found The Marble Table. I'm so thankful for Yelp! The staff were incredibly helpful in their wine, beer and food recommendations. My husband and grandson opted for the lamb meatloaf and claimed it best ever. I ordered the Alaskan halibut and was very happy and would highly recommend it to all. The owner came over to check on us at end of meal and couldn't have been nicer.
