What I like is the lack of globs of frosting that make up for the flavorless, dry cake of many cupcake offerings. There's just enough cream cheese icing drizzled to emphasize, but not hide, the cake itself. I picked up a pecan praline and a carrot cake -- both were good -- but the pecan praline especially stood out for me. That's something since carrot cake is always my first choice. While individual bundt cakes are always available, there are larger versions customizable for any occasion that might be a good alternative to cake. These aren't inexpensive, but for the nearly-two servings size and on special occasions, it's a nice option.

Although I like macarons, they'll never be a must-have treat for me, but they are certainly something I'd bring for special occasions because I must be the only one in my circle of friends who is ambivalent about them. A people person, she will happily tell you how she made her way from Russia, where she was a doctor, to Billings and started a tea room. It's an interesting story. With a variety of teas, about twenty or so in fruit, green, black, decaf, and not a tea-bag in sight, you can pair your tea with any number of desserts from baklava to cake or cheesecake. The variety changes daily, so getting the rundown of the available deliciousness in the display case is almost a must-have. Also available, for those so inclined, are Russian language lessons.
