This spot has been on my radar as a breakfast location, as I saw the good reviews some time ago , I finally made it this morning and noticed the name has changed from the original "HITS THE SPOT CAFE" since I first read reviews It was very busy this morning as a livestock sale was upcoming, the server was very friendly and attentive, but she was scrambling as the only waitress in the facility, and with only 2 people working the kitchen she immediately informed me there would be a wait for food. The food was good not great , breakfast was served warm not hot . I liked the road side dinner feel of the restaurant. If your in a hurry I'd look elsewhere for a quick breakfast, I'll give them another try for breakfast again at some point before I decide to keep them on or off the breakfast rotation list read more

Okay. Wow. I understand why this unlikely spot has great reviews. It's located in the Livestock Commission building and depending on the time of day or year, you might be dodging piles of stuff in the parking lot, so you know it's an authentic experience. The cattle and horse trailers can take up a good share of the parking lot. It's an unassuming cafe, no frills really, but its meant for the business of the building it's located in. If you want fancy, move along. What Hitt's the Spot does well is the food. And the genuine interest in the customers. It obvious the regulars, both the workers and the customers have dealt with each other on a routine basis. You can't fake that comraderie. Having stopped in for breakfast and at a loss as to what option sounded best, I was directed to the corned beef hash. I was told it was house-made and that was good enough for me. I wasn't disappointed. First, the portions are not skimpy. It was large chunks of corned beef, nicely shredded potatoes and large pieces of onion. There was no mistaking this for the hash out of a can, either by appearance or taste. I look forward to coming by to try some other things. read more

Waited 45 min for a burger that was obviously cooked an hour before. Rock hard burger, cold. Disgusting. First three things I asked about on the menu they were out of. No salad bar. No chicken wings. read more

We went two days in a row this weekend due to the horse auction they were open today. We ordered The cowboy Burger with fries ($8.50) the bacon cheeseburger with fries ($7.50) the soup/salad bar ($5). *The meat is frozen patties that work completely unseasoned and barely cooked. * The Bacon came out Raw. *The poor excuse of a salad bar had Brown lettuce Rotten Tomatoes and poor quality vegetables. The salad bar consisted of the following salad mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, Pepper's, cheese, eggs, carrots, squishy melon, squishy watermelon, * For soup they had chicken and rice soup and chili. The chicken and rice soup was very Bland and you couldn't taste really much of anything. The chili on the other hand was kind of spicy and was filled with lots of chunks of tomato and onion and peppers. I know a lot of people like this type of chili so I did not knock any of the hit points against it. * service now that's a whole different subject. They sat at the front and took a while to wait on us because they were busy having a conversation. On the way through Montana on RT. 94. Wanted quick lunch, we found it! Hard to find, hidden in the Cattlemans Assoc. building. Not fancy, but clean, super friendly and good food. We had beef noodle soup, very tasty and split a Philly Cheese steak. The pies looked incredible, but we were too full. read more

This place is great. I ordered a breakfast sandwich to go while I was passing through Billings on my way to go hunting. 10 minutes later I realized I had forgotten my wallet and called back to cancel my order. They kindly told me to stop in and grab the sandwich and not to worry about paying since the sandwich was already made. By the time I got there, I was able to scrounge up enough quarters out of my console to pay anyways, but their kind gesture made my day! I know breakfast. It's my "thing". I've never had one like the one I had today. The hash browns, they were.... chewy. Simply awful. Disgusting, even. Like really bad. I asked "Are they always like this?", "Yup". I won't be back. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the patty sausage seemed like they made it in-house, and it was really good. We had the breakfast skillet for $7.00, which comes with sausage, bacon, or ham (you can add a second meat for $3.50), but trust me, this is VERY filling on its own. They also feature an EIGHT-POUND breakfast burrito that has to be seen to be believed! Stopped on our way through town for lunch after reading some good reviews. It wasn't a sale day and we were a little late for the lunch hour, but the staff was very welcoming. The menu was a bit limited, but my meal was very good and my husband's burger was great. Homemade chicken rice soup hit the spot and was very tasty. He topped off his meal with a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie; but that was pretty tart. Fast and friendly won the day though! read more

We have passed Hitt's several times but it wasn't open. Today we headed out to make sure we made it. We were not disappointed. Waitress was good and friendly. Soup was excellent, split pea. We ordered hamburger with egg on it and a patty melt. Both were very good. We will be regulars. read more

Had lunch here today with my daughter and granddaughter. It's a small cafe inside the Billings Livestock Commission building in Lockwood. The lunch menu is somewhat limited - mainly hot and cold sandwiches, chicken, burgers, soup, salad, sides, and desserts. My daughter had been raving about their Philly Cheesesteack sandwich, so I decided to try it too. Best cheesesteak sandwich I've had in years. The beef tasted like a good quality cut of steak, and the onions and peppers were fresh and cooked just right. The swiss cheese was yummy too. I had a salad which was nothing special, but the lettuce and cucumber slices were fresh and crisp. My daughter had the fries with hers. The portions were large enough for her to split with her 3 year old. The servers were very friendly and efficient, even bringing a full size coloring book with crayons to keep my granddaughter busy while we waited. We didn't have to wait long at all. On the way out I asked to see a breakfast menu. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be just as happy when we return for breakfast as I was with lunch today. Great prices, nice portions, and friendly service. What more can I ask? read more
