While visiting some family in Warden, we decided to get lunch at On The Rocks. I was honestly surprised to see a place like this in Warden. Whether you live in town, Billings, or are out of town, On The Rocks is a must stop! I went with the Fried Chicken Sandwich which was a Crispy Fried Chicken Breast, with Coleslaw, House Aioli, Pickles, on a Brioche Bun. This was a great Chicken Sandwich. We also had a House Burger that featured a Bacon Onion Jam that tasted amazing. Along with a BLT. Everything here tasted wonderful! The service and atmosphere were great. When I find myself back in Warden, MT, I won't hesitate to stop at On The Rocks.

First time here. Visiting Montana from Tennessee for a wedding. Met some friends here and I would absolutely come back to On the Rocks. The service was amazing and the food was exceptional! Our waitress took such good care of us. We ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Artichoke Dip appetizers, but I failed to take pics. Both were delicious. I would order them again for sure. I had the prime rib cooked medium rare and it melted in my mouth. So good. The inside of the restaurant is tastefully designed and very comfortable. If you decide to try On the Rocks, I'd love to hear your opinion. For us, it's a YES!

A very sweet Worden MT, very small town between Billings & Pompey Pillars National Monument. Has this GEM!! Hip menu offerings. Pictured is OTR house burger, Gruyère, bacon onion jam, house aioli. Delish!!! Hand cut fries. My man had a Humpty Dumpty burger special with bacon cheddar fried egg. Yum!!!

The food is great and desserts are made in house. Well worth the trip from Billings or after seeing Pompey's Pillar.

After I saw their Cote de Beouf for 2, I was sold! A 32 ounce ribeye, 3 sides, and you each get a choice of soup or salad as well! The restaurant is nice. On the tables they have butcher block and give you some crayons. lol. (So if you see scribbles and tic-tac-toe, you know why). The start of the evening was a little slow after we were seated, but then our waitress Liz showed up. She was very nice and had a great quirky/funny demeanor. I ordered a dirty bleu martini and it was yummy. When our food was delivered we were pleasantly surprised with how big that steak actually was. Our sides were potatoes augratin loaded, green beans, and creamed spinach. I chose the Caesar salad and the hubby chose the gumbo. It was all really good. We ended taking left over steak, green beans, and creamed spinach back to the hotel. For all of that food, including an alcoholic beverage, the total really wasn't that bad. The note on the bottom of the bill cracked me up. I would go back again if we came back into town.

The historic charm and atmosphere make this place something special. The ladies started with the jalapeño margaritas, and I kicked things off with an Old Fashioned made with bourbon--both were excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely engaged, making us feel right at home. For dinner, I ordered the ribeye with French onion soup and a baked potato, and every bite was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly, the soup was rich and flavorful, and the baked potato was the perfect complement. If you're visiting Billings and looking for a classic steakhouse with incredible food, warm service, and timeless character, Jake's Downtown is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be back!

Our waiter was young but seemed to have trouble understanding the orders, ok no big deal. Then he had to clarify my drink request, again no big deal. Salads and soup came out, my onion soup was very good. A major disappointment was "we are out of baked potatoes " which seems odd since one of the potato options is made with baked potatoes?? After some time our entrees came out. My ribeye was actually cold but the mashed potatoes were hot so obviously the steak sat waiting on other entrees, we only had 4. I told the waiter to tell the chef and he said he would, not would you like me to take it back? Another entree was the chicken dish which was requested to have sauce on the side, his response was "I wrote it down", again not "would you like me to have it fixed " I guess if you go push your server to make it right.

I guess that's good being a Sunday and all at barely daylight o clock…read more Still, it's a classic small town bar, in fact it's about the only place in town serving food at all. Buckeye just happens to have a bar and a slot machine casino. At this time of the morning there were a couple of people at the slot machines, two older men having breakfast and .... Was that a beer?....already? Anyway, the food was just okay. I suppose asking for lunch in the morning throws off the cook who might still be thinking breakfast. The bar-casino a few miles down the road (or is up the road?) was better, I think. The people were nice -- nice in the classic small town way that makes it a why-am-I-not living here-all-the-time, way. I'd stop here again, and probably will since it's on my way to a place I visit frequently. But maybe next time I'll try breakfast during breakfast hours and maybe a drink because maybe those people having beer were on to something. Choices. It's all about choices.
