Went late for grub after a long drive to Asheville. Tempeh has and queso dip were amazing.

I would give this place 3.7 stars if possible. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a bar, lots of chatter and pool balls clacking, but it is not too noisy. I wouldn't recommend it for a date with someone who you're trying to really have a conversation with though. Our server was very friendly, I didn't get their name but they had longer curly dyed (maybe red?) hair The food was fine, better than normal pub food but not amazing. I got the beyond burger which was pretty standard. I'd recommend the fries over the macaroni if you're getting a side. My sister got the little cheeseburger with gluten free bread and thought the bread was good. The fries were particularly tasty. My dad got the burrito salad and loved it. He gets it often. Overall, the food was good -- maybeeeee a little pricey -- and I would come back, but it isn't my favorite option read more

Ended up here by pure luck, we were going to Early Girls to try it out but there was a line outside and no parking so we kept driving to look for a place to park and saw WALK, no line, no wait so we went in. Mask mandate in full effect until you sit i guess and no outdoor seating but it's ok, atmosphere inside is nice, good music. I ordered the big simple with poached eggs, bacon, & homefries, AMAZING, sooo good lol. I wish I would've ordered the cheddar grits just to try those too. My husband had the French toast with side of scrambled eggs and bacon, also amazing! Best French toast we've had in a while, the berries were super sweet. Ah I really wish our experience was better but unfortunately this was not the case. We did come on new year's day which could mean they were under staffed but our service could have been much better. We waited a while to get seated, for drinks and for our food. I was really excited that it was taco Tuesday but really disappointed with the tacos. I got the pork special and a street taco and the meet seemed overcooked and lacked flavour. The queso and salsa however was really great. Loved the open atmosphere, brick interior. It was Halloween weekend and the jule box was playing Roky Erickson to Slayer to Tom Waits and Concrete Blonde. The menu was diverse but the 6 of us stayed square in the Taco Specialties section. We all got Tacos, Quesadillas and Buritos. Everyone finished every morsel on their plate. Many vegetarian options. The service staff worked together and took great care of us and the entire restaurant/ and bar. Decent local beer selection, if a little small by Asheville standards. Untitled Art NA also available which was welcome. WALK is in the gritty punk West Asheville, a little off the tourist trodden South Slope. This was a lovely place to stop on our way back out of Asheville! Food was DELICIOUS, and the beer was cold. The Bloody Mary was also delicious, and presented very nicely! It was topped with olives, lemons, limes, and okra! The biscuits and gravy was very yummy, and served in a large portion. Could not have asked for a better meal. When we visited, 3 employees walked by without even greeting us. When we were seated , the waitress took care of another table that sat after us, it took over 20 minute to even get a drink order. Pretty good experience. I had a steak sandwich and fries. My girlfriend said her food was a little on the salty side, but good. This one group of people let their children run WILD. This kid was spitting everywhere: on the floor, on other kids, on the pool table, and on the table top arcade game. No one stopped him or did anything for quite a while. It was pretty gross. (I can't blame the restaurant for bad parenting though). We didn't get beers, but there seemed to be a good selection. The mixed drinks looked good too. I think it's worth checking out. My wife and I decided to grab lunch after a great day of hiking. We were greated by our server Michael who was awesome. The space and service was very good but the food was extremely sub par. We got a few things, soda , beer an appetizer. steak sandwich and the blackened chicken sandwich. The steak sandwich was 70% bread with little to no flavor and the chicken was like chewing rubber with a stale bun. I ate my steak sandwich but my wife couldn't stomach the chicken so we sent it back with no replacement. When we got the bill the chicken sandwich was still on it. I asked Michael to take it off because my wife had barely touched it, he advised me that the owner informed him to charge us. He asked if I wanted to speak with the owner and I took him up on the offer. After 5 plus minutes he came back and had removed the chicken from the bill , I thanked him and gave him a very good tip. The owners actions and lack thereof was quite disturbing which is a shame became it is a very nice space with good service and it has potential but for the owner not to come over and at least acknowledge the issue was disappointing. I know things are difficult right now and this review could have gone differently but the lack of common sense from ownership was eating at me so I felt an obligation to share. We wish the best of luck to all the servers and small business owner out there trying to stay afloat. read more

Service was somewhat average, and is the only reason for not giving 5 stars. Our server was quick on refills and such, but not very friendly and slowish to greet us and bring the check. I have lived here for 5 years now and I have yet to have a decent experience here. Today was by far the absolute worst from over cooked chicken tenders, a very large piece of plastic in my girlfriends Mac n cheese, cold queso, stale chips, missing food for two people, mediocre service, and rude manager who did the absolute least after these things were brought to her attention. Promise I'm not being too harsh I am fully aware of the current state of the service industry and our servers weren't the worst they were friendly but just eh incompetent for lack of better words. I do not recommend and won't be back. Edit: after speaking with someone about our situation we were comped for our meal and asked to give them a shot again sometime. We did come at shift change and that is a very hectic time for most people restaurants. Love the response I got very much so no excuses we wish this was handled better conversation. With that being said we plan on trying again sometime and will revise this review based on that experience. read more

Plenty of locals and beards around, not that I'd know who the locals are as I haven't lived in Asheville in four years. The server I had was nice and helpful, and pretty quick from what I can tell. There was a bit of a mix up with my friend's nachos (she doesn't like jalapeños so she'd asked for them off), so they comp-ed one of our meals, which was excellent. And the replacement nacho plate was incredibly speedy... Thank goodness, because my mac and cheese was the amazeballs to top everything and I wanted to shovel it in my mouth from the moment it was placed in front of me. I... I'm going to need a moment, while thinking of this mac. It's like liquid gold. With taco meat. It's everything I want out of a steaming bowl in front of me. Now. I don't think I'd go so far as to classify it as a side. It's a full bowl, and I ate my leftovers for two meals. (yeah, that's right--I'm a to-go box girl... Shameless!) Anyway. We were looking for something close to our rental in west Asheville and this place was already recommended. We had a lovely late dinner. Our server Emily could not have been sweeter. She not only gave us recommendations for our meal order. Before we left she gave us recommendations for things to do in Asheville, like texted me a huge list. So nice. And the food was better than I had expected. I ordered the house salad with tofu. There was ample tofu way more than I would have thought and the right combo of goat cheese, greens, pecans, and apples. The dressing was a lovely tangy flavor and went perfectly. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his steak quesadilla. And the atmosphere was friendly and casual, not pretentious. A great way to cap off our evening. read more

Ambiance is a bit loud and seating is not very comfortable. There's always kids running around, crying or being loud in the evenings. However, our waiter seemed like he didn't want to be there are took longer than it should to bring waters/take our drink orders, etc. We started with the chips + queso + salsa which was very average. The salsa didn't have much taste, it was pretty much like plain chopped tomatoes. I ordered the special salad which was an Asian inspired salad and added grilled chicken. Let's just say that I did not get what I ordered. The menu listed chopped asparagus and goat cheese ... the salad had neither of those. It was just a cheap salad with pickled ginger on top. For $12.... Very disappointing. I suggest they remove this from their "specials" list. Although our waiter was slow and brought the wrong beers out multiple times, there was another guy (I'm assuming the manager) who was very apologetic and friendly. He made up for the poor service in the beginning! The others in the group liked their dishes but nothing was amazing. WALK is the right name for this restaurant because that is what we did after receiving our order! Came in for late lunch at 2:30. We ordered a BLT, a Turkey Reuben and sweet potato Tots. All were requested per the menu description. Our server was prompt and attentive throughout delivering a ginger ale and an Arnold Palmer shortly after our arrival. The food arrived after a reasonable wait. The sweet potato Tots were good. The Turkey Reuben was warm and messy as expected. It was okay. The BLT arrived with a large amount of cold, overcooked bacon slices. Biting through the dark pieces of leather was not possible. If a cook would serve that what else might be wrong? Worst food experience ever in twelve summers in Asheville. We will not be back. read more
