For the life of me, I cannot understand why the South San Jose area will not embrace making a larger number of their Walgreens open 'till at least Midnight or 24 hours. As others have said, the #1 reason a lot of people come here is the fact that it is open 24/7. I find they usually have what I want in stock and usually end up with some little gem I didn't know they carried at the right price. I love chatting with Joanne. She has been on that front register for as long as I've lived here and I appreciate her no-nonsense attitude. The cosmetics cashiers have been helpful and after a while, you can get them to smile. Plus, the folks that come in here after dark are a sight to behold. Better than any reality show you could ever dream up. Why not five stars? -3 for the debacle that is the Pharmacy. They take forever to pick up the phone and if you go in your car or wait on line, I hope you don't have anywhere to be soon. It seems that the Pharmacy line is more popular and longer than the ones to get into clubs Downtown. Case in point: I decided to use the system Walgreens has where you can go to any one of them in California and pick up your prescription. What was supposed to be a 15 minute wait turned into over an hour as the poor Pharmacy Tech at the one on Almaden was kept on hold excessively long and hung up on. She finally had to call the store manager because their Pharmacy was closing (at 9). The Blossom Hill store finally filled the prescription, but at the wrong location. Lo and behold, after an hour, I finally had my refill. Painful and very unnecessary. read more

Although it's great that this walgreens has a 24 hour pharmacy. The pharmacy is usually super backed up and slow!! The lines at the drive thru and inside are always insane! At least a 20 minute wait! I have also had prescriptions be sent to this pharmacy and be unable to be filled for days because they have either ran out of the medication or it's not something they "usually" carry? Even when it's something normal...?.. (Like prenatal vitamins for example.) The actual staff of walgreens is usually faster than the pharmacy people. Store is ok, Ok, normal selection. It took 2 weeks for them to get back to me, but they finally did this week. I had to make another call this past Sunday to let them know that I had not heard back from anyone about my issue. On Tuesday, a manager called me back, she did apologize, which is all I wanted anyway. To be honest, I shouldn't have to ask, but I got one. She listened to me vent a while, then offered me a gift card for $25. I accepted and she was true to her word. For now, I do plan on keeping my business there. Hopefully, there will not be a repeat in the poor service in the future, and although she did do her best to change my opinion, it will take a while to get the bad taste out of my mouth, so the rating will remain at one star. read more

***Review for the pharmacy department*** This place has really stepped it up!!! I use to hate coming to this pharmacy, the staff was so rude and they were incompetent. I had to call several times in order for them to do something right. But they have gotten some new employees who are really changing this place for the better. I was recently helped by a gentleman named Trang... I believe that's his name. He was very efficient and remembered my order and completed it before I called to confirm. Which I am pretty sure has never happened before. This is the kind of service that makes me happy to use walgreens. Every time I go to the Pharmacy at this location their always seems to be some issue and very difficult. Last night I had a prescription from my wife's dentist. They had "stamped" it instead of signing in so I had to take it back to the Dentist. They said they'd call it in for me. Went back to walgreens to find out they wouldn't take the call In. Went back to the dentist to get the prescription again then back to Walgreens. Now theirs two people in front of me for drop off ... It takes 10 minutes? They then call me up an say my wife is allergic to Vicadn . The prescription is not for Vicadn. `1.5 hrs later I finally have the prescription. I'll never step foot in another Walgreens as I'm 63 and treated like a drug addict. read more

The truth be told, I am far far from a big fan of this pharmacy. I called earlier today to check and see rather or not a prescription could be filled, without paperwork on hand, since I only had the prescription number, and it was from a different pharmacy. I was told to hold, and remained on hold for 30 minutes before speaking with a physician technician, who was quite honestly a bit rushed, and either rude or ignorant, I'm not sure which. I explained my situation several times, but the technician seamed to be completely so out of it when it came to answering my very basic questions, so I instead asked to speak to a supervisor, who gave me the only help I could get. If it weren't for my hardheaded personality, I'd have never gotten the answers that I needed today. To my surprise the pharmacist called me right when I arrived at the store, and was able to pick up my meds, only moments later! That's the one good thing about my experience here today. read more

I'm only giving one star so that I am able to leave this review. Following my boyfriend's heart-attack, this was the pharmacy his doctor sent his prescription to, based on what the price on goodrx said. The first person to help him would not accept the coupon or price listed on their website. Instead of calling the pharmacist or a manager, the employee just became hostile and rude. After checking goodrx again we decided to go to the pharmacy at Safeway. When he arrived they said they would call walgreens to have them release the prescription so they would fill it for the listed price and honor THEIR OWN coupons. The employees at Walgreens refused to assist in the process, they hung up on the safeway pharmacist multiple times, said they didn't want to deal with this anymore; they were holding his prescription hostage. Not only is this walgreens a poor place to go if you expect any decent customer service, it's illegally listing coupon prices and blatantly not accepting them. They tried to hold his prescription and force him to go there and pay for it. They knew this medication was to save his life and he needed it that day. Finally, after threatening them with legal action, they released his prescription and safeway got it for him in time to prevent any further health issues. My doctor attempted to call in a prescription for me, was put on hold for 20+ minutes. Then, the phone just hung up. This seems to be a consistent problem with this Walgreens, being understaffed and undertrained. It is probably best to stay away from this location, given that not only is the employee turnover high (new faces every month) but it also seems that management take no pride in what they do. This is my local Walgreens, on the corner of Blossom Hill Rd and Snell Ave, in the same lot as Lucky supermarket and Cupid's Corner! It is open 24 hours, has a drive thru pharmacy but I have never used it. Also did not use the pharmacy so can't comment on that. Normally I just send my digital photo pics over on the internet and pick them up in 2 hours or so. They are ready by the time they state and if you don't like the pics you don't have to pay for them. You can find a coupon for photos online, so you'll save more than just taking in your memory card. They also have school supplies and other nick nacks. Walgreens is a gem of a convenience store that when others are closed, you can normally get by by stopping in here. Service is OK as are prices and you will always find a parking space. I love the convenience of having a drive-through pharmacy nearby my home. However, my experience with the pharmacy employees has not been so pleasant. This is the first yelp review I have ever left and it is because I feel it is completely necessary. Tonight, I went to Walgreens to pick up two different prescriptions. One, I dropped off a few days ago. The other, my doctor called in yesterday. When I spoke with the employee, Emily, (I made certain to receive this woman's name) she told me I had ZERO prescriptions in their file. I explained to her how that was impossible and must be a mistake, considering I was certain about the two prescriptions that were there. She asked that I just leave and try calling my doctor tomorrow. I insisted that she check one more time, because it didn't make sense to me what this woman was saying. What did make sense is her lack of concern for a a customer that was rightfully asking for her assistance. After checking again, she managed to find only one of my prescriptions, but told me I would have to come back after midnight to pick it up. I was so confused. "Midnight? I was told that this prescription was ready to be picked up yesterday. It's crucial that I have my medication tonight. Can you please check if it's already filled?" She looked at me confused, and said there was nothing she could do. Thankfully, another employee overheard what was going on. She respectfully asked for my name and birthdate, and instantly found both of my prescriptions in my file; something Emily, for some reason, was incapable of doing. She apologized for the inconvenience and said she would have my prescriptions ready to give to me momentarily. THEN, Emily had the nerve to ask me to leave the drive-through window and go back around so she could assist the person behind me, which would have forced me to wait ANOTHER 10 minutes, because of her mistake. I told her I thought that was inappropriate and I would leave as soon as my medication was given to me. Within 5 minutes or less, the helpful employee handed me both of my prescriptions, apologized for the inconvenience, thanked me for coming by, and wished me a good night. I was very thankful for her assistance and correcting a mistake that wasn't here. I wish I would have received her name as well. I was shocked at the lack of concern and laziness that Emily displayed when I asked not much of her at all. I just wanted her to retrieve the two medications I knew were there. Her rudeness, lack of knowledge, and inability to problem solve truly makes me hope I do not have another encounter with her again while picking up future prescriptions. read more

I won't get into a detailed complaint because it's not necessary, just read all the bad reviews or you could just park outside and watch how the drive thru is handled. It's unfortunate disabled and sick customers are subjected to constant unprofessional, rude and discriminatory treatment from Pharmacy staff. If I could give ZERO stars I would. I have two daughters who are very sick. Who are waiting on prescriptions. For some reason my husband went to pick up the prescriptions and the pharmacy only gives him one out of four meds for one daughter. And my other daughter doesn't get ANY! Pharmacy is saying that one of my daughters isn't active. Mins you they both have the same exact coverage and on top of that they have dual coverage. Why would one be active and NOT the other?! I just verified my daughters active coverage at the doctors office prior to the appointments. Fast forward I call the pharmacy to find out what's going on. I'm on hold 2 HOURS and than it disconnects!! Mins you I heard someone pick it up and than hang up. So I call back and this time I call the store and ask for a supervisor. I speak to someone named Eric who says he is the night lead. I explain what's happening and ask for the pharmacy supervisor to call me with answers. I leave a detailed message for pharmacist. And here we are 4 DAYS LATER AND NO CALL! I asked them to release the medication back to the doctors office so I can go through a different pharmacy and NOTHING. My kids are still sick and NO MEDS. I can't get them anywhere else as it looks like they were already picked up and I'm asking for more!!! This is ridiculous! I have using this pharmacy for years. NEVER again will I use this pharmacy!! Zero stars. They are making too many errors. My doctor sent a prescription for antibiotics a few weeks ago to that Walgreens pharmacy. I saw on the Walgreens pharmacy website that it was being Processed. Without notification, the prescription was erased from the Walgreens system. When I went to pick up the antibiotic, Walgreens said they had NO record of that prescription. (I had to have Walgreens call my doctor to get that prescription again because the original prescrption disappeared from the Walgreens system.) Similar incident at end of June 2022. Doctor sent a prescription. The Walgreens website indicated that prescription was being reviewed by pharmacist. Shortly after that the prescription was again GONE from the Walgreens system. The prescription was not filled. Nobody from Walgreens let me know why. Now my dr orderered 15 ml drops for eyes.. The pharmacy has prescribed only 05 ml that is the wrong amount. read more

A few months ago I was on a date and he was congested. I suggested that we head to a pharmacy to talk with someone about getting him healthy. We ran into Eric the overnight Pharmacist at Walgreens: he was friendly, helpful and had real suggestions and helped us find a solution. Eric offered his advise with a sense of humor and emotional intelligence that is very tough to come by in society today. I thought, wow; someone that actually cares about people even when there is nothing in it for him! Fast forward a few months, now I'm ill. I feel like dog shit and low and behold I find myself at the very same pharmacy Eric works at. I certainly did not plan on ending up at Walgreens because I am a CVS girl. I grew up in Massachusetts and the Candy Variety Store hence (CVS) was always my Pharmacy. I know CVS is really Consumer Value Store; I digress. I only filled my scrips at Walgreens because they are open 24 hours. It's a bit of a drive from my house in San Jose and I'm sticking with this Walgreens. I was going to change back to CVS but now I'm not. I'm only staying with Walgreens because of Eric (so if he ever leaves I'm following him). He really cares about people. He answers questions and explains the medicine in detail before you leave his sight. Eric is smart, obviously educated (Pharmacists are actually licensed professionals---they have to go to an advanced level university to obtain their education), he's kind and patient. Unfortunately his job sucks because he deals with so much BS from the public. I witnessed it tonight waiting for my order. What a great guy...he handles everything with class. This is definitely someone you want to fill your prescriptions. Eric is detail oriented, compassionate and gives a damn. I could not ask for a better Pharmacist. This Walgreens is located in a pretty sketch area, but the interior is quite clean and organized. I had ordered a few photo products and they were processed in a timely manner. I did order a poster for a party, which was misprinted on the wrong sized paper - after which a correct one was printed (which took 15 minutes), I was discounted the cost even further, and even given the mistake print. It was recommended that photo products be ordered before 11pm or after 10am so that the day shift guys, who are more careful about their work handle the printing. Great customer service...not so great area. read more

I am done with this pharmacy. We had come here for many years. It used to be convenient to use the drive-thru when the kids were tiny. Now it's just scary. I don't feel safe sitting in my car or even going inside due to all the people walking or riding through the parking lot right next to the car as you sit in line. This review is for the pharmacy! Whoever manages this location really needs to pull it together. I've been here three times only to have an error every single time. 1st Time: the person failed to tell me that it would be an over 45 min wait, I could have easily went home and came back. Nope I sat there with a horrible flu miserable wondering why it was taking so long. The cashier apologized for not telling me. 2nd Time: my dr had called in medication, they pulled up the screen and said yeah we see it here, but the pharmacist isn't here to fill it. And that's my problem?? Okay, I asked him should I wait or come back and he said you can wait if you want (with a hesitant attitude, like please don't). They emailed me minutes after leaving that it was ready for pick up. My mom goes back to pick up my meds that I didn't wait for. Well guess what, they weren't ready and my poor mom had to wait for them to get their shit together again. 3rd Time: my doctor sends my medications again. And I'm emailed the prescriptions are ready. Well guess what.... they WERE NOT! This place is a dump. It's extremely filthy and has no wait area for their long lines due to moving like turtles. One of the few 24 hour pharmacies in the area, and it's bad. Have had the unfortunate need to visit this Walgreens for prescriptions twice in the last week. Both times were a complete mess. On every visit to drop off/pick up in the evening, there's been a 20-30 minute wait at the pharmacy. They have drop off and pick up lines, but that's completely ignored. The pharmacy folks just deal with one line and the drive thru, so be prepared to wait, even if you're just dropping off a prescription. If someone comes to the drive thru, they will make everyone in the store line wait. Drive thru is priority to everyone, including for the head pharmacist if the drive thru wants a counsel. If there's not enough pharmacy folks to work both the counter and drive thru, you will be put on hold in the store. Another problem at the counter is they let customers bring other items for checkout when picking up their prescription. I can understand an item or two, but I've seen people go up there with a cart of groceries, and that's just wrong. Finally, I was promised my prescription would be ready 3 hours from dropping it off, which meant picking it up at 12:30am. I decided to go at 11am the next morning instead, and of course, it wasn't ready. That's unacceptable. Save yourself time and go elsewhere. read more

This review is for the pharmacist Trung. He was super helpful when I approached him with some questions about my atypical allergy symptoms. Before coming to the drugstore, I tried everything. Zyrtec and Claritin stopped working for me. I was like a leaky faucet. I didn't know what to do. I was going to try the next drug on the list. Then I decided to ask the pharmacist for suggestions. Now I know why they have 2 stars reviews. This is the worst place to pick up a medications or even deal with the staff and the pharmacist in that place . I remember one summer, I walked into Walgreens with my grandma. And I was provided with great assistance from a young woman who worked here. Very kind, very nice, and very pleasant. Only if their were more employees like so at other Walgreens or let alone any store for that matter. My grandma was sadden how ever she appears to be a seasonal worker, which is good for you will have a brighter future. Now she's back for the winter, and her service is quite at its best. Don't shop here. I had a bad experience with this store. They don't care about you or your family. We are in a pandemic and family members have to buy doubles of certain items for elderly parents....I am not a hoarder. In fact if I have something you need I'm always willing to help. As of today I will no longer shop here and I changing all my prescriptions to another store. The clerk was an young male adult, with no experience in life. He was just down right rude. This pharmacy is atrocious, and I will not make the mistake of going here again. Another family member and I used to use this pharmacy, but after they made multiple mistakes we decided to leave. There lack of customer service and worry for the well-being of their patients frightens me. Due to an emergency room visit that ended at midnight, we decided to go to this pharmacy once again in the hope that we could get the meds my family member desperately needed. We waited in the drive thru line for a full hour, only to be told we would have to wait another hour for the prescription. It was, at this point, the middle of the night. There was a single employee working who said she had over 25 different people in line inside the store. Not only were they understaffed, but the woman who was working did not care about my family member's well-being or situation. We don't come to the pharmacy in the middle of the night if it is not absolutely necessary. She didn't seem to be bothered by the fact my family member was in excruciating pain. Worst pharmacy on the planet. A couple of weeks ago after my latest nightmare began, I called there on 5 separate occasions to find out the status of my new prescriptions. The first 2 times I was disconnected after waiting on hold for 4-6 minutes. The 3rd call I actually got through to someone in the pharmacy. They went to check on the prescription in question & again the phone went dead. Since they had my profile pulled up, I assumed that they would call me back. Nope! I waited 30 minutes & called again. I was disconnected again. Later I called back & again got through to someone, who also disconnected me after pulling up my profile. And no call back. I finally reached out to my doctor who apparently got back to them about a week later. I checked the website to make sure that everything was ready & requested what I still needed around 10. They were not all ready at 4:30. Some where, some not??? I was told to come back in an hour & a half. I HATE THIS PLACE. I TAKE A NUMBER OF MEDICATIONS & 3 ARE FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. We have been shopping at this Pharmacy for 18 years. Pros: They are open 24 hours and have a drive-thru window. Both are huge pluses for parents of young children. Cons: Their service is inconsistent. Sometimes it has been fast and others it has been really slow. Management has been responsive to complaints, but that is of limited solace when you are waiting a long time at 2:00am at the drive-thru window. read more
