My friend has been inside there for 40 minutes waiting for a prescription that was supposedly already done, she had surgery today, and they are total morons. Completely and utterly abysmal. This was a not terrific pharmacy a year ago that somehow managed to become substantially worse. As I sit here waiting "for 30 minutes" for a prescription I called and confirmed was ready, there is a line 10 (*ten*, no hyperbole, wait, make that 11) hopeless souls of Needham waiting to talk to the person behind the counter who is absolutely bereft of any ability to make anything, at all, happen. I already transferred my prescriptions to the local CVS but the numskulls here have already "filled" it (despite it not being ready), so I'm stuck. Had two scheduled appointments for shingle shots for my wife and I. The system scheduled us for 1:30pm and 2:00pm. We got to Walgreens in Needham at 1:20pm answered all the questions verbally that we completed online and then had to complete the same form manually. That is a joke in itself. The issue we had is that we were informed that even though we had an appointment that the pharmacist has a 1/2 hour break and would only do the 1:30 appointment and would cancel the 2pm so I had to come back later. She wouldn't do us both at 1:30 or slide her break 5 minutes to accommodate us. Time for a new pharmacy! read more

Awful. They are incompetent, make mistakes and lack inventory. Last week, Lahey Hospital sent them 2 prescriptions to fill for us. We arrived there about 90 minutes after it was sent. Nothing was ready. The pharmacist was out of one drug so they called the other Walgreens to inquire if they had it. They were put on hold for over 10 minutes. This is wrong. We purchased one of the prescriptions and went to CVS across the street to get the other. They filled it within 15 minutes. By the way, the prescription that Walgreens sold us had different dosage instructions than given by the physician. Bad error on their part. In summary, it makes NO SENSE to order prescriptions from Walgreens in Needham. Besides making errors and being incompetent, CVS is a better option because if the CVS in Highland Street does not have it then you can visit the CVS 2 miles down the road next to Traders Joes versus traveling all over Boston for another Walgreens. read more

After the rather good Walgreens in our town closed, my prescriptions were transferred to Walgreens in Needham MA. This place deserves ZERO stars. The store is filthy, service at the pharmacy is abysmal (20-30 minute lines to pick up "ready" scripts and rude cashiers), and they never answer the phone. If you try to call, hold times are routinely between 30-45 minutes and the phone lines are frequently out of service. The ladies' room is a disgusting pit that looks like it has never been cleaned. No hand towels or paper, waste cans are overflowing, and floor is sticky. This is no way to run a business, especially a drugstore, and whoever manages this place should be ashamed. But feedback falls on deaf ears and no one in charge seems to care. As of today, our family's prescriptions and business are being transferred to the neighborhood CVS. read more

I don't know if it is just this Walgreens or all Walgreens, but they are TERRIBLE. Every time I come in to have a prescription filled there is "something" to deal with. Every prescription feels like it's their first one. This is how I imagine it would be if 7-eleven started offering pharmacy services. read more

I have had great luck at Walgreens. Sandy is fantastic. Jovani does a great job at the window. Recently, I as very concerned about getting a prescription that I would need the day after it became available as I was traveling. I spoke to Mark and asked what I could do on my end to help ensure I would get it. I followed his suggestion and, sure enough, I got my prescription on time and was able to go on my trip! I think, in general, that the big brand pharmacies over work their employees and that it is easy for them to loose sight of the fact that they are helping sick people. That IS NOT the case at Walgreens on Highland. They genuinely care! read more

They reduced the open hours of the pharmacy so this store is more like a convenient store and less pharmacy. They just shut the windows and escape with no notice even if you are picking up other valued added items to pay for. So when you go to check out the pharmacy in the back is already closed. Other times they blame inventory levels. If you have my script with multiple refills you have an order in the system and your basic computer should keep par levels and safety stock to insure the order is filled properly down the road with plenty of lead time built in. However, somehow they still run out and tell you to come back because they need to order it again. No drive through either. read more

I've shopped at this store a decent amount of times, and it has always been a bit more pleasant than either of the CVS locations. It's in an easier to get to location, with entrances to the parking lot on both Highland Ave and Pickering Street. They redid the parking lot a few years ago, and made it smooth (like it should have always been). Previously, it was like a roller coaster of bumps, so it's definitely a great improvement and one of the only stores in Needham Center with their own lot. So that's always pleasant and a charge from the high congestion throughout Needham typically. For the store, it's large and always has a full stock of clearance (my favorite aisle). Very organized and well stocked too. The staff and management team here are the best. Seriously, whenever I have a problem with anything, a coupon, Balance Rewards, finding an item, or even more intricate scenarios they always kindly fix the problem so that the customer is satisfied and happy, and aren't rude like many other Walgreens. One thing I do like is that in general, there aren't many CVS stores that I go to that have all sorts of different policies with coupons, rainchecks and other sale issues. Walgreens on the other hand has different policies in each store it seems! So with all that said, I'm always very happy leaving here, which makes the trip to Needham always worthwhile when I'm hunting around for good deals at Walgreens. Photo department is also pretty good... they always have decent prices on photos and seem to be more accurate than CVS. I've printed Christmas cards here multiple times and they have always come out perfectly. They also actually have an employee at the Photo Department, rather than a few cashiers trying to juggle the photo area too, which is pleasant in comparison to CVS where the cashiers run the photo department and front end (which is ridiculous.... as much as I love CVS too!). Depending on the deals, CVS may be better for certain items, but in general this is my favorite pharmacy in Needham due to the convenience, size, and constant amazing service. 5 stars. read more

My husband, my dad, and I all placed photo orders on Columbus Day to take advantage of a special promo that was being run. To avoid having 3 people go to the store, I was listed as the pickup person for my dad and husband. The store refused to complete the order saying that it was only 1 promo per household. I offered to cancel my husband's order, since we do in fact live in the same household (although this was not actually listed in any fine print so I am not sure it was even true). However, Michelle said she would only make 1. I cancelled all of them and I am getting them filled at another Walgreens without any issue. Won't be back here, and will go to CVS for future photo needs. read more
