The Worst Pharmacy Experience I've Ever Had This was my first time using this Walgreens pharmacy, and it will definitely be my last. I'll gladly drive farther before having another prescription sent here. Around 1:00 p.m., I called to see if my prescription was ready. The person I spoke with told me they were about to go on their lunch break, but said it would be ready by 2:00, and definitely no later than 2:30. Since I also needed a knee compression sleeve, I figured I'd head over around 1:30 and do some shopping while I waited. By the time I finished and got in line at the pharmacy, I ended up standing there for close to an hour. It was finally about 2:30 when I got to the counter, so I assumed I'd be in and out. The employee asked for my information, walked over to the prescription bins, and spent a little while looking around. It seemed pretty obvious my prescription was already there. She came back and told me to have a seat because the pharmacist still needed to review it. So I waited. Five minutes passed. Then ten. Then fifteen. Meanwhile, I watched the pharmacist continue helping customer after customer without ever acknowledging me or giving me an update. At that point I wasn't even frustrated about the wait anymore--I just wanted someone to explain what was going on. Around 2:50, as the pharmacist was about to help yet another customer, I'd had enough. I walked up and said this was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak with the manager. The pharmacist came over and asked what happened. I explained everything, including the phone call earlier in the day. What surprised me was that he didn't seem to believe I had even called. I pulled out my phone and showed him my call history. I even asked him how else I would have known they were going on lunch break if I hadn't spoken to someone there. Instead of trying to fix the problem, the conversation turned into figuring out which employee I had talked to, almost like they were trying to catch me in a lie. That was honestly the most frustrating part. At that point, I didn't care whose mistake it was--I just wanted the prescription I had been told would be ready. What really stood out was that I wasn't the only unhappy customer. While this was happening, other people waiting started chiming in, saying this pharmacy is always slow, that they've had similar experiences, and that it wasn't the first time. I understand pharmacies get busy, and I know prescriptions have to be handled carefully. I'm not asking anyone to rush something that affects my health. But if you tell someone a prescription will be ready by a certain time, don't make them wait an hour in line only to tell them to sit down with no explanation while everyone else keeps getting helped. Communication, honesty, and a little respect for people's time go a long way. Unfortunately, I didn't experience any of that here. read more

First time here, just stopped in to do some regular shopping (not picking up a prescription). The product selection was fine -- nothing amazing, nothing terrible. What really stood out, though, was how unhappy most of the employees looked. The cashier and the woman in the photo section especially seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else. Maybe it was a rough day or they were short‑staffed, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. There is a FedEx service here at this Walgreens location. Which is super helpful for Champagne deliveries from CA that require a 21+ signature for acceptance. I can't accept an alcohol delivery at my job. My deliveries here are always safe and available for me when I can pick it up. The store itself is ok. It's a Walgreens with groceries, pharmacy, and bathroom supplies if you're in a pinch for something. But honestly the place feels like a ghost town. That's my opinion. SYOY. read more

Give them a break. They are so busy. Now that Bartells is CVS, I would imagine they have had to absorb a lot of new clients. I'm not a pharmacist but even I can recognize the heavy workload. Do they look super relaxed to you? As a team, they're awesome. They work cohesively, efficiently, [and despite the constant backlash] are very friendly! In the spirit of taking personal responsibility; I can admit that I'm not an easy client! I often wait til the last minute, drama tends to follow me wherever I go and, I travel extensively. They could write me off, and I wouldn't blame them. But, rather than do that, they have done their best to work with me. I really, REALLY appreciate it. Rudest and worst pharm tech I've ever met. Tried to pick up a prescription sent by my doctor, was told by the pharm tech with a heavy accent that it's not ready. When I inquired when will it be ready, the tech said "how can I know when it will be available." I told her she's the pharmacist, should be able to tell me an estimated timeframe. If it's not on shortage, should be able to give people an estimate timeframe when to expect their meds. read more

You have the same medication every month. Considering they don't use computers do do their inventory, they will run out. Even when you go out of your way to inform them the day before so they don't run out for the 5th time in a year, they forgot and make you wait for days for your serious medicine. I wish I had something positive to say about this store. Alas...I'll post this to share my thoughts with management. Please take them to heart. Don't dare go near the prescription counter. For whatever reason, there's always more clueless customers here, trying to convince the poor employee that they should be able to get something for free, or their insurance is still valid, etc etc. I can't recommend dropping off FedEx packages at the photo department, either. Every time I've had to wait for an employee to show up, and then I get attitude when I'm being properly polite. All I'm asking with a smile is for an employee to scan the package and either email or print a receipt. Most of the time I get attitude and questions like "You know this isn't going to go out until Monday, right?" I can feel she's had to deal with countless horrible customers, but still hell - I'm just asking for something simple with a smile. What prompted this review is I was out of an allergy spray and the delivery wasn't coming for a few days, so I thought I'd pop in and grab one here. They didn't have the one I wanted, but the larger version was available at twice the price. Either way, they were both locked up, meaning I'd have to find, wait for, and generally put up with an employee from this store. Instead, I walked out to my car, pulled up the Amazon app, and ordered one for next day delivery. I'd rather deal with my allergies for another day that interact with anybody other than the cashier at this store. I understand there's a massive problem with shrinkage now, but there has to be a better way. If Walgreens doesn't figure it out, another store will and they'll get my business. Between Amazon.com, Amazon Pharmacy, and Alto Pharmacy, there's almost zero reason to step foot in a drugstore for me. read more

Unfortunately, my prescription at this pharmacy has been marked "in progress" for several days, and no one has responded to my calls. After waiting three days without an update, I decided to go in person--concerned that this was no longer just a short-staffing issue but a matter of indifference. Unfortunately, my suspicion was confirmed. When I explained that my medication had been pending for days, the staff checked their system and said, "Yeah, the pharmacist needs to approve it." I replied, "You mean you guys?"--as it was clear they were the ones responsible. The inconsistency and lack of accountability among employees have been incredibly frustrating. All I wanted was my medication, but instead, I was told, "We're closing soon, so you'll have to get it tomorrow because I'm not doing it tonight." read more

The front of the store runs great. The problem is how little the pharmacy seems to care about their customers' time. They send out messages saying your prescription is ready before it is, there are constant unexplained delays, no communication, and they'll make you sit and wait and then forget you were ever there. There are some genuinely good pharmacists back there, but they are far outweighed by the other employees who seem utterly unqualified. One pharmacist has to fill prescriptions and give vaccines. The techs are only able to check people in for vaccines and do simple refills. If you have a coupon, the techs cannot handle it. There is an online checkin for vaccines, but it doesn't count and you have to stand in line and checkin in person. It is not fair to the workers to have so many tasks with too few trained employees. This is the corporation's fault and customers tend to take it out on employees. If pharmacies are now the place to get vaccines, they need to staff appropriately. Hire an LPN and that would get you better ratings and faster customer throughput read more

I ordered calendars from this location over a month ago. It was supposed to arrive in 1 week. 3 weeks later I called and was told they were still working on it. Several weeks after that I called and was told the same thing. Several weeks after THAT, they called and told me they couldn't do it because their printer was acting up. I said fine, just cancel it. Mercer Island Walgreen's Pharmacy - Long lines, long wait times, even when text messages say that a prescription is ready for pickup. On my last visit, the pharmacist could not answer questions about side effects, she wasn't familiar with the medication (which was not an uncommon drug) and couldn't say anything about interactions with other medications. In addition, she would have charged $400 for a prescription that should have been free with my insurance. At a different pharmacy, the pharmacist was professional, spoke on side effects and drug-drug interactions and was knowledgeable about ways to reduce medication prices. read more

Assigned a 1 because no negative options exist. They are incompetent, rude and inefficient in the pharmacy. They filled out a pre-authorization form using a coupon # for Freestyle Libre instead of my insurance. I was ordering a totally unrelated item that has nothing to do with a CGM such as Libre. I provided ONE INSURANCE CARD so they couldn't mix that up with an old one or I bet they would have. You may want to reconsider trusting these folks to correctly fill your prescriptions. If you do, think of this review when you stand in line for 30 minutes to talk to a uncaring tech who wouldn't even read a message from UW Medical Ctr. Today is January 24. The prescription was sent to them the last week of DECEMBER and as of yesterday, they had not filled the order even though CIGNA no longer required a prior authorization. If there was a rating less than one star I would select it for the Walgreen Mercer Island pharmacy department. Today, Saturday, May 17th mid afternoon - I spent one hour by phone just to ask the pharmacy if they had a covid treatment drug in stock. After an hour on hold I was disconnected so I drove to the store to pick up my prescription. On arrival at the Walgreens Mercer Island pharmacy drive thru window there is a handmade sign on cardboard stating "Closed for Lunch From 1pm to 2pm". A second large cardboard sign covering up the window, also in hand written letters stating, "WE ARE SHORT STAFFED" I waited until 2:10pm and the window remained closed. I heard a pharmacy voice from behind the cardboard sign speak to me saying "our computers are not working and we don't know when they will be fixed. I asked if the repair person was working on them and she said "no we don't think they will be fixed today" I asked how I could get my prescription. The pharmacy employee said " the computers are working at the front of the store and that they could help me with my prescription there." I said " do you actually mean the registers at the front of the store have access to the pharmacy info? She said yes. I was very skeptical about her information but I was feeling very ill so I parked my car and entered the front of the store. On speaking to a cashier she explained the registers do not have pharmacy info online access but she would get someone to help me. Another woman appeared and said that I should go to the other register closer to the front door but instead of helping me she disappeared. Then a third person approached me and said he could help me and to follow him back to the pharmacy. Surprisingly, there were several customers waiting in the pharmacy area and the pharmacy team was filling prescriptions. So the information "that the pharmacy computers are not working" was not true. It then took 3 attempts by the primary pharmacist to find my prescription online. I said I'm sure it's there and with a little extra effort she finally found it. I asked her if she was the person that told me that the pharmacy computers were not working and would not be fixed today. She admitted it. I gave up and left the store. I'm absolutely astounded that a pharmacy could actually remain open with this incredibly bad service and no regard for customers. Pharmacy services are extremely important for those that suffer with illnesses and especially our senior citizens. Don't waste your time here - find another pharmacy with a professional pharmacist and a service oriented team without resentful attitude towards customers. I understand that Walgreens is going through changes and employees may be upset but that's not a problem your loyal customers have caused. read more

Terrible service. I am trying to pick up medication during regular business hours for the second day, there is no pharmacist on duty to dispense medication. If they don't have any ethical responsibility to the patient, they should be liable for the health risks they are imposing to the patients for withholding their medications.
