So I ended-up perusing the aisles in search of something that I could use at home. The canned Arizona ice tea drinks are normally $.99 however here the promotion indicated 3 Airona ice tea cans for $2 which is a pretty good deal. The Nature Valley crunchy box of 6 miniature protein bars were overpriced at nearly $6.00. At the big box grocery store they are half of that price. Likewise the milk was priced very high. This one can get really busy. Plus being surrounded by entitles folks is overrated. Yet I'm glad this is here. Walgreens tends to be cheaper than CVS. Here you can get a decent bottle of aspirin, a Gatorade, and other basics as needed. It's in the heart of town, and parking is plentiful. As for the store itself, they seem to sell out quickly. A good bit of this is probably supply chain issues. I do like how clean and organized it is. Also for a last second card, it's not the dollar store, but you can find one for $2 or so. That savings is helpful, and the employees who work here are nice folks. read more

I just left the pharmacy at this Walgreens. I could tell by their tone that the women working found me very high maintenance. I know it's Thanksgiving week. I'm sure they are extra busy. But my daughter is going back to college on Monday and has had a prescription sitting there since this past Tuesday. She went to pick it up on Friday, having received no information about its status. They said it was out of stock with no other information given. She didn't know to follow up with questions such as when will it be available etc. So, I went back today, Saturday. The very young girl at the register said it wasn't in stock looking at me as if that was the end of the story. When I asked why it hadn't been ordered the pharmacist (older woman probably feeling protective of the young girl) only then said that they would put in an order for Monday after 2. I then asked why it hadn't been ordered on the two full business days after it was called in, especially when my daughter has literally come in to pick it up the day before. This is a fair question. I got pushback with passive aggressive "Mam" protestations attached. While I didn't act happy that my daughter would have to leave for her college without an important medication, I don't think I was out of line in pointing out they should have ordered it sooner. I think they can do better if only to have the professionalism to apologize for dropping the ball. Or don't drop the ball. read more

fire Nate!!!! he is absolutely dragging the team down. every time I come to this pharmacy and this person is there I have an issue. I'm ly with Nate. He is the antithesis of customer service. His demeanor is always rude condescending and exuding he doesn't want to be at work. TodayI got in line and didn't see the small note about 130-200 lunch, the lady in front of me was blocking it. There were two individuals working at the pharmacy checkout. The other individual, took the person in front of me and Nate's customer was just finishing upas the person in front of me came up. Nate looks out at me from behind the counter, and while the other lady is just coming up to the cashier doesn't say a word and starts to lower the metal curtain in front of his station. I get it lunch small time, but the way to tell someone this is not closing the curtain on them as they walk up. read more

They have made an amazing change here.... it used to be the worst experience ever and now I cannot begin to say how wonderful they are. They are extremely efficient and kind to deal with. I just picked up a prescription that was ready within minutes and Randall was extremely friendly! On 9/4/2024 I had a new rx. At the Walgreen Chain Bridge McLean, a pharm technician with afro hair N. told me that this rx has to be filled by another Walgreen in Old Dominion and directed me to go there. I went there and found out it is out of business so I have to come back to the first one. N. told me to sit and wait. A half hour later I was not serviced, I confront N. he then asked for the phone # of my doc to confirm the rx which is telling me that he did not work on my case at all and was conversing with another tech. I voice my frustration and asked to talk to the pharmacist who helped me (it was noon at that time and the office of my doc is closed for lunch). Finally it took me 2 hours and half to have my rx filled. read more

This is the worst Walgreens Pharmacy that I have ever been to. It takes weeks to fill a prescription and even if you wait a couple weeks anticipating their incompetence, plan on it still not being ready when you get there. They will tell you to wait 15 min, but really give it about an hour waiting in-store, note-if you leave the store to return and pick it up later, it still won't be ready when you come back (see previous line about the 15 min wait that is actually an hour). read more

Time and again, I have to babysit the pharmacist to fill the same prescriptions over and over again. Because of state/federal laws that are nonsense and make everyone's lives harder, my prescription is "schedule 2" meaning no auto refills. Like clockwork, my psychiatrist calls in my prescriptions early and like clockwork, I call a day or two ahead to confirm that the prescription can be filled on that date. At 9 AM, I call again to confirm, even though the person I spoke to a few days ago said "yes I'll make a note to fill it on that date" but I truly have never been able to rely on them to make good on their word, and then I'm left on the short end of the stick. So it opens at 9, they usually say yes I can fill it give me a few hours or give me an hour. If I don't get a text that it's been filled (which I usually don't) I have to call again, usually by 3 or 4 PM to confirm if they've filled it and maybe the system messed up so no text message. I have to call again because if I drive over an hour before they close, assuming they've filled it like they said they would, they say yeah it's not ready yet and I have to sit there even though they've had 10 hours to put the stuff in the bottle and print the thing. These people will tell me they can fill it then, I call back again because I have no confirmation of the fill, then the pharmacist says (and he's done this on several occasions now) oh yeah I checked and we didn't have it in stock - after telling me earlier that it would be filled, and it can be filled in a day or two. The amount of babysitting, and confirming, and calling...it's like I have a kid and I'm trying to make them do their homework. I'm just so sick of it. I'm going to find a new pharmacy that's managed by adults. read more

I would avoid this store. The store manager, Bethany, refused to give me a Covid booster in the following situation. Worse, she was smug about it. She and the pharmacist seemed to me more interested in closing than helping. -I arrived at the pharmacy at 7:00pm and requested a Covid booster. I presented my vaccine card, my passport, and my insurance. The pharmacy closes at 8:00 p.m. -After twenty minutes of waiting, at 7:20, the store manager and pharmacist said that their system was giving them trouble and that they were unable to verify my insurance. (I know my insurance is valid and verifiable because I had just filled a prescription 15 minutes before at the local CVS.) By the way, insurance is a bit of a red herring since Covid shots are supposed to be free to the public. -At 7:23, they told me that they would be unable to give me the booster shot because there purportedly was now not enough time since I would have to wait 15 minutes for an observation period after being given the vaccine and because it would purportedly take them too long to try to verify my insurance via my social security number -- even though Covid shots are supposed to be free and even though I had been in the store waiting since 7:00 pm. -They didn't even try to verify via the alternative method at 7:23, opting instead to tell me they couldn't due to the time and choosing to turn me away. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme, but I at least don't want to do business in a store that seems to have that sort of culture under this store manager. read more

Like others have written, if I could give less than one star for this Walgreens, I would. They are one hundred percent incompetent and have no concern whatsoever about providing even a modicum a good customer service. Today was the third time I have stood in line for nearly an hour waiting to pick up a prescription (I started as the third back in line) while the "geniuses" behind the counter where doing who knows what with the same two customers for nearly an hour. I have gone to collect a prescription at this Walgreens after THEY texted me that it was ready for pick up and when I get there they can't find it (the pharmacist hurriedly filled a new one). Walgreens just took over our local Rite Aide store in McLean two weeks ago and they have already lost my business. The pharmacy made a big deal out of the fact that the transition between pharmacies would be seamless. We were specifically told we would not need to transfer prescriptions - that would happen automatically. I've now called three different times and had to have my doctor send an updated prescription twice - that somehow didn't make the transition from Rite Aide to Walgreens. Finally got that all confirmed and was just told that it will be two-weeks until they can stock the medication. This is not a reliable business. read more

The pharmacist told me that a prescription I had was ready, and when I got to the pharmacy, they told me to wait because it wasn't ready quite yet. After fifteen minutes of waiting the pharmacist told me that the medication they filled for me actually wasn't the right strength and that they wouldn't have it in stock for a couple of weeks. I asked why when I called the pharmacy earlier, that they said I could pick up the prescription with zero problems after their lunch break, and the pharmacist said that she had misread my prescription strength. Im extremely disappointed in the customer service of the pharmacists, and it is extremely unprofessional that they started filling a prescription that was not my strength AT ALL, and then told me they had made a mistake and I wouldn't be able to pick up my medication for an unknown amount of time. Don't waste your time here, they don't read your prescriptions or strengths correctly. read more

I just like the low prices, and friendly and helpful staff here. The pharmacy folks are kind in delivering advice. Gave me my flu shot very efficiently by appointment. The pharmacy at this store has gone from bad to catastrophically bad and headquarters should look into this asap before something dramatic happens here. Since the walgreens at Chesterbrook shopping center was inexplicably closed, we were all turned over to this store. The store is fine but the pharmacy is not. Standing in line for 30min minimum is a norm here. Staff has left or is untrained. I took my budiness elsewhere a month ago and have been breathing again but then one of my doctors called in an RX here by mistake and it has been a nightmare trying to get it released. I was on hold on the phone for 1 hour 40 min this afternoon when I had finally gave in and hung up without having even spoken to anyone although i heard the counter go from 5 callers ahead to one caller.Ha! That one caller ahead myst have really had a bone to pick since it went on for 45 min after that. Nobody is picking up the phone! My doctor and new pharmacy are letting me know the same thing- nobody is answering in the pharmacy. In other words my RX is still being held hostage at this walgreens until hopefully I can get someone on the phone or I can get there and wait for who knows how long and have my meds released so insurance can pay for them at my current pharmacy. This pharmacy is one hot mess and the staff are at their wit's end you can tell. read more

Had appointments for Hepatitis A&B, and typhoid vaccines. They don't even have a correcvrt sign on where you check in for vaccines in this day and age of vaccines. The sign says Isle 10, which of course is wrong. Why not put a sign up to say where to go CORRECTLY? The person helping us was totally without skills. Every item she put in the computer she had to ask meanwhile if someone is this clueless, why not hVE SOMEONE THERE TO TRAIN HER. Told us to wait we wait almost an hour. We go to check and suddenly she decides to ring us up another wait. The pharmacist didn't;'t even apologize for the wait. Like it didn't happen, you're not only a valued s=customer, they'd rather you no-show up. And the day before husband had gotten the typhoid at another Walgreens and they charged us half the price. This pharmacist said we had to pay the entire price. Confused, disorganized, poorly run operation and we trust these people with our medications and injections. Never again! Incompetent staff. There is an employee by the name of Keshav who is entitled and extremely rude. He's at the cash register. What a way to insult a customer. Dec, 2022: I never use this Walgreens, although I live nearby. There are a few CVS's closer to my home that generally use and all goes well with them. I tried to fill an impromptu prescription here the other day. Terrible experience. Huge line for pharmacy and a separate huge line for regular cash registers. A hitch occurred that delayed filling my prescription. It was murder trying to get this pharmacy on the phone to follow up on my problem, including one hour holds on the phone for two different calls on consecutive days. I asked them to call my doctor to discuss my prescription and they said we're too busy, have doctor call us. Really regret making the innocent mistake of trying to use this store on the spur of the moment. I was amazed at the foot traffic at this store, much busier than I've seen at a drug store in many years. Somebody must like doing business here, but I can't see why? read more

Pharmacist can be caught in the middle between your insurance and your provider. The pharmacist does a good job dealing with this problem. My only down side with Walgreens on Chain Bridge road arises when they do not carry the Rx in stock. It can be hit or miss at this point. read more
