At today's the 16th of March 2026 afternoon and I did disappointed by the Giant store McLean Virginia unfortunately you cannot even make the good sandwich I order because it was not on the shelf I ordered Reuben sandwich traditional recipe toasted long bread Rich of sauerkraut which of pastrami cheese and the Russian dressing and was tiny bit of me to really like that two slices two slice of cheese and you know the guy burned completely the bread he cooked on one side was black completely black inside was Brett was mushy and was just no sauerkraut at all how I can try is trust the reputation of giant giant store in McLean my reputation is going down the drain the quality collapsed I know your stuff from 1989 when I moved here from Greenwich Connecticut used to be fantastic used to have the high paid employees now you have all the foreigners you pay the minimum wage nobody's happy you don't have a quality control in another thing your bathroom it's disasters so dirty it's not clean and it's too small in front of the Starbucks coffee tables for all the customers in the business store and for employees to have lunch why don't you have a more tables but they don't get the discount maybe 10% now I mean everything is not working very well I'm disappointed about quality now of all the steaks as well all the chicken you had a wonderful salad bar before right now it's all toxic fry food very unhealthy at the high price the service is not very professional and you always short on staff for the cash registers especially during the busy daytime. This grocery store is both bad and good. Typical huge selection of groceries and is kept relatively clean. Staff is hit and miss - it's amazing... some fantastic and some horrible. Quality of fruits and vegetables is average AT BEST, and be sure to look closely since they often have rotten/rotting fruits and vegetables still out. Meats.. that a whole other story but head to Wegmans for fruit, vegetables, meats... you'll be happy. Prices are reasonable. They are good to the community and schools. I think it's a good backup and for essential items but if you're looking for service, quality etc. Wegmans is way better. read more

Solid Giant supermarket with several different "counters," a flower section, and a Starbucks. Parking is easy enough and there are multiple entrances and exits. Stopped in recently to buy some plants. I'm glad there's a flower section, and one with actual humans at a counter for things like wrapping a bouquet. Some of the plants and flowers available had seen better days, however. Prices for some of the bouquets were a bit steep for what they were. It did seem like a nice Giant with several counters. The staff were all very friendly and lines moved quickly. A special shoutout to the Starbucks barista because she was so pleasant and funny. read more

I have had good experience since giant but many times they produce are awful why the buyer does not there's not visit the factory? My experience with his spinach is horrendous. I have been buying spinach the doll for a long time. The dole 16 ounce box becomes 10 ounce box, but the shape remains the shape. The customer is deceived it deceives the customer, but it looks Besides that the spinach, the baby spinach leaves are supposed to be baby spinach, but you find you find spinach leaves that resemble an old lady face. He has been mixed with the various sizes is some are fresh, but most of them are old as you can be. They're glossy slimy. Slippery I'll never buy it. I bought the cheapest peaches and they were awful. I threw them out, the garbage can ate them 14 and were the most expensive. There was a man I remember he was doing the same thing but Again I bought more like a 12 or 14 because I wanted to make Southern gobbler peach gobbler for the company I had last week and those speeches they were it firm OK I put them in the refrigerator because of it. Use it. OK I hope I had one leftover. I opened if it's there, I'll show you. On August 6th, around 9:00 PM, I visited the store after a long day. I went to the self checkout since it was slow and was trying to scan a lemon when suddenly, one of the employees started yelling at me, saying, "You gotta type the number in!" I gave him a look like I don't understand and then he snatched the lemon out of my hands and typed the number in aggressively. I also had a bottle of wine, and the light kept blinking but he walked right past me and ignored it until someone else came over to help me. If you don't want to help then don't. I've been to this Giant many times and never got treated this badly. read more

It works for quick snacks. Yes you have to deal with the uptight folks, but it's got salads at a decent price. Also their fruit and vegetable aisle is fresh. The cost will be more, but it's a Giant after all. Still less than Safeway and Whole Paycheck. The employees here are excellent. My hats off to them. Also a very clean and organized store. Parking should suffice for most. If you want some quick grub, if in the area it's more reasonable cost. read more

8/15/22 After reading and seeing a review on Johnson &Johnson, I find myself in the aisle way of baby products looking at, Johnson and Johnson products. I found this store to have Watermelon Ice drinks I got my wife hooked on. The Giant Foods I go to by my house always seems to be out of stock by the time I/We arrive to buy them. Today is not the case. This store is well stocked, and organized. I did see some people that had me thinking they were school teachers doing shopping for their classes. I found some drinks by Santa Cruz. I will do a report on them once I sample the drinks. Although the place is staffed, the staff member did not ask the customers if they needed any help. I did not hear any greetings either. This isn't to big of a deal, because when I needed help, my question was answered., the woman I ask wasn't hostile, but she didn't smile either. Something was going on in her world. Nevertheless, I found what I needed and I am sure at some point, I might be back for another tour. read more

The only problem with this store is the parking lot. The spaces are too close together, and access is difficult. The employees are very helpful and pleasant. The best time to avoid parking crowding is evening when fewer customers are there. read more

Alethea, the short African American female at customer service is rude, abusive and loud. on May 4th, around 7 am, I went to Giant Store in McLean, VA to get a few items. I live close to the store and go there almost every day. At the self checkout I set my basket down for a second to get my Giant card out. Automated register voice started saying "put your items in the bagging area". That morning, they were short staffed and Alethea from customer service was at the self checkout area. As soon the recorded voice at the register came on, this angry African American woman started coming at me like a tiger! She was screaming at the top of her lungs and saying, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING". Alethea, continued her verbal abuse by shouting at me and saying, LET ME TEACH YOU HOW THIS IS DONE! Her verbal abuse went on for a few minutes, she was trying her best to embarrass me in front of other customers and she made an ugly scene. I'm a 66 year old male, Mediterranean, been a tax payer in Northern Virginia for 50 years and finished my college education here back in 70s. This woman kisses up to white customers, but if you got an ethnic background she would treat you differently. read more

This is my regular place to shop for produce, pantry staples and more. This giant offers a lot of specialty items such as cheese, meat, seafood, gluten free, etc. but these items are fairly expensive. The store is doing a great job with Covid, I'm impressed by the sanitizing stations; they've been fully stocked the last few times I have shopped. The only con is that the people of McLean shop here and the parking lot is usually a nightmare during peak hours. read more

I had extra time so I decided to walk around the store. It is huge. Compared to DC Giant stores, this is really nice. It is properly stocked for McLean. There was a large selection of "healthy" "non-meat" and special diet choices. There were at least five different types of coconut milk (not all on the same aisle). The produce selection was varied and a decent quality. When I needed help, there were several employees around. I think someone even helped me as she were starting her break (she had food in her hand). The store is in a strip mall with ample parking. If I worked in the area, I would put Giant into my lunch rotation. They had inexpensive pre made salads and nice fruit. There was a large wine & beer section. The bakery looked decent. There was an entire row of breads. The women's bathroom was clean. Be aware that if someone is cleaning the restrooms, they may leave the entrance doors open. I had an unexpected view of the men's bathroom that I couldn't unsee. I forgot my giant card. I don't carry it since there aren't decent Giant stores close by. Some of the DC grocery stores only let you park for an hour. The cashier was willing to let me use the store card if my account wasn't found. I wouldn't go out of my way to travel to this location but I would return if I was in the area. I would probably avoid the restrooms in the future. read more

Large grocery store with plenty of parking and all the usual departments such as deli, pharmacy, etc. This Giant seems newer and cleaner than some other locations and they have pretty much everything you'd need. This place was too crowded for my liking due to COVID and at least one guy wasn't wearing a mask so keep that in mind if you come here. I'd come back here if I was in the area but I'd stick up non-peak times due to the crowds. read more

I don't know what has happened to Giant McLean? The store staff around the self check out acting weird sometimes looking into people's grocery bags as if they were not scanning things. Very uncomfortable feeling ! Store is also not very clean! Read all the notices on the meat according to NPR article you might be eating halal meat and not knowing it. Giants has grass fed steak from Switzerland with halal in very small letters written in the back of it. Humane society has laws in U.S that's very strict so the steak they are selling is from Switzerland. NPR explains it in a very detail way. I believed Giant should have a special section for this kind of meat. Like the restaurants that advertise their meat. I also noticed some food companies are mixing things like butter with olive oil but they keep the container looking the same if you bought from them before you just in a hurry pick up the container without knowing it's changed. You have to read everything. I have not gone to any Giant after seeing so many things wrong not to mention their prices are higher from many other grocery stores in the area. read more

This is a good local store with good produce and a lot of the products I use. It is laid out well and is fairly easy to navigate. My big complaint is the lack of check out personnel. We are an elderly community. When you do a large shopping, it is physically too much to have to do self-checkout. One checker in a crowded store this morning was just terrible. Where is a manager to say, "You have a full cart, let me help."? Lots of staff wandering around and filling shelves, but when it come to check out (when prices have gone up sometimes double what they were) there is not a soul in sight. I came home exhausted and my arthritis is killing me. This is not right. read more

Last week I was browsing the fresh grated and shredded cheeses in the deli section only to come upon a bag full of green, moldy Parmesan cheese. Today, I sat down with a bowl of cereal I purchased *yesterday* and noted how stale it was. The staleness made sense after confirming the cereal had expired back in August. Plus multiple other times I've caught past or nearing expiration dates while shopping. I'm old & cranky and shopping is not big on my to-do-list. As much as I like the new Giant at 7 Corners, it's huge, bright, huge, clean, huge...did I say huge??? Therefore, I go to either the McLean or Falls Church stores as they are manageable aka not huge! This is about McLean...I'll get to FC another day. Masks -- most customers comply but there are a few now & then who are piggish about it. As I recall, one assaulted an employee who requested he put one on. Do the right thing & don't be an ### about it. Essential shopping: Wine Dept. Well stocked & if you're lucky enough to meet the young man who manages the space (not a Giant employee, btw), he'll guide you to some excellent selections. Positives: Convenient Large selection Usually the produce is very good Negatives: Highest prices in the area The employees are always, always rude Would it hurt to smile? How about a "Hello!," or a "Thank you for shopping at Giant!" at checkout. The employees always seem incredibly upset to even be there. As customers we're most certainly inconveniencing them. One time, one of the cart fetchers yelled at my wife for taking the cart back to the door instead of leaving it in the parking lot. You visit this Giant at your own peril. It's bad. This store claimed that my United Healthcare benefits card didn't work. When I got home and checked the balance the card had the full monthly amount left on it. The manager had no imagination for how this might have been a store error and put no effort in solving it because in his mind it wasn't a store problem. Shameful. read more

Have to agree with previous reviews in that it's convenient but pricey. Regarding all the comments about the unfriendly staff, I think some of that is a misunderstanding related to many of the workers having not yet acclimated to artificially friendly American customer service norms. Of course, many others are actually just unfriendly and probably resentful from having to deal every day with so many entitled and self-important McLean locals. The employees always smoke cigarettes on the sidewalk in front of the store. It's gross and unhealthy for customers, and when my kids are with me I leave the sidewalk and walk through the parking lot instead. Management needs to make them smoke out back. read more

This Giant is fine. I much preferred visiting the Safeway on Chain Bridge Road, but now that that's closed, Giant is the next best thing. It's a sizeable store, but it doesn't always have everything you'd need. I find it hard to get around -- the signs at the back of the store don't list all the categories in the aisles. Most things are fairly priced, what you'd expect, but be careful. Some are 2x what you'd see somewhere else. For some items, they only carry one brand. Most of the time, Giant can be your one stop shop. However, I would say not to rely on just this Giant, as their selection isn't the most expansive, and the prices really do vary. read more

This is one of the classier Giant probably due to the location. There are three Giants (McLean, West Falls Church and Vienna) that are all in about the same distance from where I live. But I prefer this Giant for the following reasons: 1. Spacious 2. Bright 3. Clean 4. More meat and fish selections. 5. Less crowded. So this is my Giant. And I love Giant. read more

I came into this supermarket this afternoon, because it's closeby to where I work. I was hoping that I could purchase something on the extreme healthy side, because Be been remiss in eating healthy the past week. I've visited various locations over the years, and the one thing that I loved best was their salad bar. The salad bars at this grocery store, soared no expense in terms of the variety of options that you could include with your salad. Tons of veggies, and other toppings like grilled chicken were the norm not that long ago. I kind of figured that this option would be all but shut down because of the pandemic, and unfortunately my predictions were true. No salad bar and not even prepared salad with some choice vegetables were anywhere in sight. I was bummed out, but not far from the non-existent salad bar was the prepared hot food section. Here they had some ootions- but not many as one would think. How about some prepared spaghetti or ziti? Nothing like that. I ended up purchasing the touch of honey rotisserie style complete chicken for just $6.00. I have had this several times in the past, so I knew what to expect. I brought it to my car, and pulled off a small sliver f chicken breast, and it tastes great! read more

Where else can you find a Giant that offers free valet parking besides McLean? Everything else is the same as any other Giant except that it is large and spacious inside. The Starbucks isn't as nice as the Safeway's Starbucks though. Plenty of parking, but exit onto the street can be tricky. Given that, I love Giant's muffins! Try the butter rum. read more

Once again, today proved why I now do 90% of my food shopping at Trader Joes and Whole Foods and only episodically at Giant for convenience sake. Its produce is widely and CONSISTENTLY not fresh and the #1 reason for taking my business elsewhere. Today, I kid you not, is the 3d time in 2 months that I've bought Brussel sprouts from Giant that were rancid and smelled to high heaven. And with an expiration marked 3 days from now! I just put them into the trash. I buy brussel sprouts all the time so know exactly what fresh sprouts should smell like. I also now understand why Giant was promoting two family size packages for such a great price! Trying to unload a bunch of vegetables well past their prime. You guys in produce need to do better. without exaggeration the worst water melon in my 75 yrs/ Two inches of white on shell eg not red and the red part harder than any fruit i had eaten, not sweet and i suspect any sweetness and the red may have been via some nuking. here i am working on yard, sweating, cannot wait for wife to return with the water melon to refresh myself, and she came home with this crap. third water melon of the year, one bad, but edible, second one above average and this crap went straight to trash. called manager, and although he offered refund by going to customer service, will not have my wife waste 30 min for 6 dol in this covid environment on top of that. will contact hq, since it appears two things need to happen. a) fire produce dept staff responsible for this, and b) the farmer. I don't shop at Safeway anymore because those auto-checkout machines drive me crazy. I want the option to have a live cashier whenever I shop even if it's late. The new "upgrade" to the auto-checkout at Giant is slow and idiotic. After I have scanned, and it registered, the stupid machine says I have to scan my last item, which by the way registered as scanned. Then I need the help of a live person to fix it. Three times this happened. What a waste of time. PLEASE GIVE SOME PEOPLE/CASHIERS BACK THEIR JOBS. If this keeps happening, I will make the trek out to Tysons to Whole Foods where (although there are auto-checkout machines), I have a person at checkout. If Giant is concerned about theft, then get people back on the checkout lines!! I live in McLean. If I have to pay high prices for your mediocre products and terrible service, I may as well travel a bit further to Whole Foods where the shopping experience is pleasant. Giant used to be good, but at this rate, Giant will go the way of Macgruders (they used to be big but went out of business). I hate this place so much. 1) There's free valet parking. It's a grocery store, idiots. Just park your car. I hate you guys so much. 2) As soon as you walk in, you're inundated with flourescent lighting, ugly design and snooty McLeaniacs. 3) If it's not over priced, it's a crappy store-brand that's never any good. I usually shop at the Giant in McLean, Virginia. Today I was shocked at how dirty the produce shelves were, especially by the scallions. Wish I had taken pictures. Because the company that runs/owns the Giant chains is our landlord and I know they are incompetent when it comes to operating a pleasant and fully functional grocery store (I know this also because I have shopped at MANY Giants throughout my lifetime) I know how much of a feat it is that this one is so great. I have to shop here when I'm down at the bf's and it blows my Giant out of the water!! Yes, I'm writing a review for a supermarket. I have officially failed at life. Anyhoo, this Giant is a good one! Very swank - comparable to a Ralph's Fresh Fare in L.A., and one of the better Giant stores I've visited since I've been in the DMV. The parking lot is very clean and easy to navigate, and they also offer valet parking. Valet. I can't. You can tell that they really try to cater to the upscale, professional, discerning crowd in the McLean business park area, and have done a great job. The store itself is very clean and well organized, and I'm writing today to rave about the newest addition to the fresh food department: a custom smoothie bar! I'd had a hankering for Jamba Juice for a few weeks, and could find neither hide nor hair of one in the areas that I roam, so was super-hyped when my co-worker came running back to the office one day raving about the green smoothie she just bought from Giant. I'm just returning from grabbing one myself, and she ain't never lied; this joker is right tasty! They made it to my specifications (banana, whey protein, fresh strawberries, and ice) and it's delicious and very filling. They have a whole menu of nifty smoothie choices for your pleasure, so it's doubtful one could go wrong. The only drawback is the price. My pretty standard 20 oz. smoothie ran over $6 with tax. I'd hoped for something in the $4-5 price range, but what can you do. At least it's good. Thanks for helping me stay cute and away from crap food during the work week, Giant! I want to bring attention to an employee that is outstanding in helping me personally during this Corona Virus phase which affected supplies of toilet paper and paper towels etc. Her name is Alethea and she works at the customer service desk. I called the store and she took my name down for the next delivery. Alethea called me at 5 AM on Tuesday, March 18th 2020...to alert me to come in right away because a delivery had been made.. I came in too late (everything was wiped out off the shelves)...but she had put toilet paper and paper towels aside for me.. now how sweet and awesome is that?...and I have seen her through the years of Giant grocery shopping and this lovely woman always has a smile and a hello.. thank you Alethea and you have an amazing employee Giant!..:) read more

This Giant was renovated a couple years ago to become the classiest, ritzy-ist Giant I have ever seen in my life. I was SHOCKED the first time I entered here after the renovation. What is good about this Giant: -HUGE produce section -Good wine deals: every time I come here they seem to have a deal on their wine and give away wine bags. -Orderly system for getting deli meat: This place gets jam-packed and people swarm around the deli section. But they have a ticket system where you get a number and they call you up that way. It actually works and makes everything much more pleasant. -Cupholders in cart: Its nice if I have a coffee or soda with me and I can bring it in. I wish more grocery stores had this! What annoys me: -Starbucks in Giant: crowds form around this and it is plopped between the entrance and the checkout in a way that I find inconvenient getting around it. Given there is also a Starbucks literally across the parking lot and slightly to the right of the Giant, I am not sure why a Starbucks is even needed in here. -MASSIVE CROWDS: Honestly, I HATE coming here. The parking lot gets incredibly crowded and difficult to navigate. Long lines of cars wait to leave and block parking spaces on the edges of the place. Its easier to park around the corner by the strip mall and walk, but then that is a longer distance to carry the groceries.
