I'm not a drug-store kinda guy, but I did make a stop here yesterday. Let's just say it's a good thing that this location is under a new renovation. It could really use some help. Walgreens is a decent drug store, but this one is confusing and very messy on the inside. I wont even mention the guy in the wheelchair that sits outside of the entrance begging for money from every passerby, he's truly a character just looking at him. This is probably one of the more busier drugstores downtown, mainly because it is right on the corner of 16th & Stout, by the lightrail station, so you get all kinds of people going and coming to this location, plus it's convenient for those who work and live downtown. Just go in sometimes and you'll see there is always a line of frustrated people trying to check out. Now that could be because at times when I have gone in here, there seems to be one person working a register and another person standing by the photo center pretending to be searching for something and noticing the line of people on purpose so as to not open another register. And who still drops off their film to be developed nowadays anyway? Inside the store seems to have no organization at all and a lot of items seemed to be a bit overpriced. But when you're only 1 of 2 drugstores on the mall, the Rite-Aid sitting on the opposite corner, I guess you can charge what you want. So convenience can sometimes outweigh the cost of an item. I hope the current renvoation will make Walgreens a better looking drugstore and more appealing to consumers, but I guess we'll have to wait and see once it's done. read more

A slightly ghetto version of your average Walgreens. Not the most horrible drugstore I have been in, but it's not real good. Luckily, if you are desperate for staples (Milk, Bread, Eggs) this place will do the trick. As for everything else, their prices are pretty much the same as any other Walgreens. It is also right across the street from a Rite Aid. I usually hit the Rite Aid. Why? At least the Rite Aid doesn't try to hide its ghettoness! I love the expansion they did on this location. Any time i am downtown and need something, anything - photos printed, snacks for the movies, some grocery i forgot, whatever... it's here. They added an upgraded checkout system which makes it all much better! Sometimes, you're downtown and you need to go to a Walgreen's. Now. This is the one, kids. The line is always, always ridiculous, and you will always be bummed that you forgot your ibuprofin/tampons/comb/dish soap/Denver shot glass... Whatever the heck it is that forced you to come into this Walgreen's. You'll always sigh as you shuffle into line, and you'll hear the sighs of everyone else who has to line up behind you. And that might cheer you up a little. Rest assured, as much as you'll hate every second in that store, the line does move relatively quickly, and you might receive decent customer service at the check stand. For what those employees have to put up with, it's a wonder they can even muster a smile. read more

I want to applaud this particular Walgreens store for the amazing customer service that they showed me. I was in Denver a few weeks ago and during my visit to this store, I accidentally left behind my prescription sunglasses. I only realised that I had lost my sunglasses after leaving Denver and going back to my home in Vancouver, Canada. After calling their store, a staff member informed me that my sunglasses were in their lost and found and told me I could come pick them up. I shared my predicament with them, that I was no longer in Colorado and would not be returning in the foreseeable future. The staff member immediately transferred my call to a manager, to discuss the matter further. After talking to a manager, they offered to post the sunglasses back to me. Thrilled by the chance to get my sunglasses back, I immediately created a UPS account and gave them my account no, so that they didn't have to pay for the shipping costs. Well guess what?? They chose to cover the shipping costs themselves and shipped my sunglasses back to me via FedEx!!! Thank you so much Jason Estes, who spoke to me via e-mail, and the rest of the team at Walgreens, Denver, for your incredible customer service. I have now been reunited with my prescription sunglasses and I couldn't be happier. I feel very grateful to have them back again and not have had to pay a dime in the process. This store is conveniently located on the 16th street mall for downtown patrons and central city visitors. They have all of the normal sundries you would expect from Walgreens including overpriced and cheaply made souvenirs. Maybe it's just the big city that I'm not used to but there is no reason to be rude. Quote "why did you get one without a barcode? Go get another one!" in a very rude and demanding tone. Not even please. Perhaps "we are sorry this didn't have a barcode, would you mind grabbing another one please" is a better approach or perhaps asking one of the three other idle workers to do it. Where I come from you never blame the customer for your mistake and then demand they correct it. There are choices nearby so I won't be back. read more

I came in at around 2230 lastnight after shopping at 7-eleven. I had a bag with me so I wasn't sure if I could walk in or not with it. I noticed one employee assisting a person in a wheelchair & the manager (gray Walgreens jacket) standing at one of the registers. She gave me eye contact 3 times & NEVER acknowledged me, just continued to ignore me. So I walked to the register & asked one of the other employees, who may have seen me but at least never looked up) if I could carry my bag inside and I told the manager I know she saw me standing there & ignored me. She turned & walked off. Short, rude, Hispanic female. I noticed also 4 people entering the store WITHOUT mask and NO ONE, even the lady standing behind a podium by the door , who was once helping the man in the wheelchair, said a thing! Not even the manager, when posted clearly that mask are REQUIRED! They just allowed people to come in. Even at 7-Eleven the cashier refused entry if people didn't have a mask on! This is unacceptable & dangerous. I hope they get fined!! read more

This Walgreens is usually busy but efficient. Today I picked up my medicine in a rush. The pharmacy tech did not let me know I was due for a different refill and did not mention which medicine he was handing me. Now I'm at home without the correct medicine. Of course, this is also my fault but it'd be helpful if the pharmacy techs notified you of the prescriptions that were available for refill and showed you/told you which medicine they were giving you. read more

This isn't necessarily specific to this store, but I did download the Walgreens app and entered all of my Rx info. I was also able to set preferences, including being reminded of refills by text or email, not just their automated phone calls - awesome! Also awesome: I linked my fitbit electronically to their online Balance Rewards program and now earn 20 points per mile. I'm almost to my first $5 reward (5000 points). Rx refills earn 500 points (even my free Rx). Also handy: Using their app, you can upload photos straight from your Instagram account to be printed and picked up in store. You can actually upload photos from anywhere on your mobile device, but it's handy that they now have an Instagram-sized setting. read more

Update: I called and spoke to Walgreens.com customer service and, frankly, they could not have cared less. They told me it was a store issue and I had to call the store directly. I called the store just to make them aware and the manager offered to reprint my photos and I could come pick them up. I reminded him that I wasn't really up to driving MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND MILES to pick them up but, gee, thanks anyway. He could not have cared less either. Since then, Walgreen's continues to spam my email inbox with photo offers since they have now registered me as a "customer", despite the terrible experience I had with them and also despite the fact that I have never actually successfully received photos that I ordered from them. While the majority of Denver wouldn't classify Walgreen's as a place of "entertainment", I have to bring to light the entertainment that is continually on display at this particular location. As I have been a resident around the downtown area - ie - Gov's Park - I have passed this Walgreen's a number of times and never realized the value of it until I became a resident right across the street. I usually avoided this store due to the 16th Street crowd that forms outside the store, but again, becoming a resident across the street lead me to begin to be a regular to the store for things I forgot or a quick trip for needed supplies - especially after -30 degree temps and suffering from the flu.. There is NOTHING like being able to walk into a store and walking out with Theraflu, duct tape, toilet paper, a huge dark chocolate bar, mac-n-cheese, and throat lozenges. Mind you my outfit consisted of boots, sweats, a hoodie, sunglasses and mink coat (yes, all of you PETA lovers - a mink coat - it was my grandmothers from the 1940's AND it was NEGATIVE 30 outside). Of which, I didn't get one "funny look"... As it must be normal to see such a display. So, I give this Walgreen's 4 stars.. Not that it is the most up to date, cleanest, cheapest place.. But, again, the entertainment value of its customers is, alone, worth the rating. Plus the fact that any time I have ventured across the block, the staff has always been helpful and always sending me off with a receipt and "Have a great day sweetheart". How do you not love a place where all the register workers have a sweet nickname for you as you exit to enjoy the rest of your day?! read more

Seriously, why even bother? I've been a customer for awhile mostly because of a captive audience, based on home and work proximity. I am thankful for Target with a CVS opening a block away. Two of my last three visits have ended with me leaving merchandise at the checkout counter because the correct sales price didn't ring up with staff giving me a hard time or being unable to fully use my remaining Rewards. For example when you show a buy one get one promotion in the weekly ad, you should only have to pay for one of the like items. Then today when I was told I couldn't use my $15 reward because it has to be $10 and $5, the clerk refused to take off sufficient items so it could be rung up in two transactions. Ironically my purpose was to drain my rewards account so I really don't have to go back again. Why? The staff doesn't generally give a damn including at the pharmacy and front. Management thinks it's above customer service and refuses to provide weekly price tags because it is a so-called flagship store. Even though much larger stores everywhere add the weekly sale stickers to prevent a scavenger hunt for customers. I get if the front cashiers aren't the most pleasant, some are actually, but it's frustrating when you have a restrictive rewards program and they have no solutions. When you ask to use the reward they will find a reason why you can't. But they will be the first to not offer to let you use the reward and instead beg you to fill out a stupid survey to commend their service. Further it is normal for key sale items not to be stocked for most of the week or unavailable on a basic item on the Sunday the sale begins. Again the store is calling itself a so-called flagship store so it should have ample stock and ample staff to make sure that stock is complete. And finally the real meaning of Walgreens is Pharmacy - it loves to promote how it believes it has been "trusted" since 1901 - but I would say forget that too if you have been a customer anytime recently at this location. If you have an urgent prescription the staff there shows no urgency or care. For a recent urgent emergency prescription I received a robocall saying it was on backorder - when I called asking when it would be there because I needed it that evening, I was told to give a call noon the next day and see where things were. Unacceptable, I had to call several other stores and ask the pharmacist myself if they could accommodate me. For a previous prescription, the counter staff gave me a hard time asking to speak to a pharmacist - just to make sure I understood how to use the prescription (new med) correctly. As Rite Aid closed and merged unfortunately with Walgreen's, I had no choice because I live near and work at downtown Denver. The narrative has changed now as Target with a CVS has opened a block away and CVS will soon be open a standard store a block or two away as well. I implore people, unless there's a sale item too good to be true or there's nothing open late night, avoid the Walgreens on the Denver 16th Street Mall. Called in the morning to get a prescription filled so I could pick up at lunch and they promised me it would be ready then. Come to find out they didn't even do it after 3.5 hours when I first called and have to wait 20 minutes here to get it filled during the busy lunch hour and wait in line all over again. Don't be scurred...after all this store is in the middle of the city! Sometimes you see some riff-raff but isn't that the point of being downtown? While at times during the day the line can be long, it generally moves fast. The staff is very polite. I can almost always find what I am looking for. The best part is the quick printing of photos. I uploaded about 50 photos to the Walgreen's website expecting it to take about a day to print. 1/2 hour later they were ready for pickup! While it took a minute to get the attention of the photo attendant I can't complain about the quick prints! Really, I don't expect wine and roses from a Walgreen's but this one is good to go! read more

Yeah, this pharmacy sucks. You can't even call and talk to the pharmacist directly when you call, you HAVE to leave a message. They didn't call me back. My prescription was never filled even though I had it set up to automatically fill. I complained and they fixed it but I never got a reminder. I love the Location when you need something in a Hurry. Awesome selection of Clothes or Ice cream which is kinda expensive even the Walgreens brand Ice Cream here is expensive here not sure why. Good Movie selection and the candy is always stocked. Actually the whole store is stocked with everything you need. And The Cashiers are friendly. Wow, worst Walgreens experience ever. I went in for a passport picture and there were multiple people working in the photo department and it took minutes for them to even acknowledge me. Finally, I got the photo and when I went to submit the photo with my passport application it will not work because of a shadow across my face. Avoid this Walgreens at all costs! read more

They had Unisom (sleeping pills) when I needed them, and the very helpful person I immediately asked (because I needed to catch a southbound train in 7 mins) knew exactly where they were. However, some of their cashiers are lethargic and need to get the people they've just finished charging for their order out of the way, so the next people can go. Sometimes the rest of us are on a deadline. There was 1 cashier there when I went, so that was a bottleneck -- and then to have the guy who he'd processed slowly stuffing his crap away instead of moving off to the side...empower yourself and your store, for God's sake, dude. Monopoly... that's why I go here! The 16th Street Mall Walgreens has an absolute monopoly for us residents that live downtown for quick grocery-like items. And with no real competitors (and because it's right next to the Light Rail stop and sell cigarettes) make this a very busy location that has no real need to improve its layout, customer service or lack thereof and general vibe. Of all the places I find myself spending my money on a weekly basis, I wish I could avoid going here more than I do. Think a large 7-11 more than a Walgreens per the feeling of this specific location. Avoid if you can, just write poor Yelp reviews of it if you can't like me. read more
