In heaven, there is a spa party everyday. I've now attended 4 spa parties in the last 3 months, having arranged 2 of them myself. Eventhough I am no girly-girl, it's so relaxing and makes me feel so pretty I adore going there and pampering myself. I have to admit that since they are running a special that gives you your spa party for free when you arrange one for 6 or more, I've become an even bigger fan. As many of you know, arranging a UYE can be hard work and Tonja was amazing working with me as I changed our RSVP at least 5 times! I really can't think of a better deal. $15 for several glasses of champagne, gouda cheese drizzled in honey with walnuts and crackers, delicious lavender blueberry chocolate and a 5 step self applied facial that makes you feel like a new woman/man (Dave the Brave, I'm talking about you there). My face feels so soft right now, I'm having a hard time keeping my hands to myself! I just keep pawing my myself and oohing and aahing about how soft and silky I am. Since you get 20% off your purchase after the spa party, I've bought just about one of everything over these past few months. The headache oil really helps me with the stress headaches. I drip a few drops on my hoodie and it relaxes me all day long. The lavender silk skin cleanser is part of my nightly routine. The Rosewater Elixir is a big favorite at work! It's so refreshing! Each product has a little "Created by _____" so you know who made the product you have. Oh, and everything is created in house. I own the Apricot Rose Facial Cream and the Neroli Face Spritzer, and have tried most other products. I'm plan on owning more products soon. I especially love their recycle program: 15% off any repeat product you buy that you've put your fingers in (like a face cream) and 40% off those you don't put your hands in (like a face spritzer) when you bring the bottles back in. I do not live in Colorado, but I first went to MoonDance 10 years ago on a trip to visit a friend and we went to MoonDance for great herbal body care products. I loved what I got back then and was happy to rediscover the newest iteration of this shop in the new location when I came back for a visit. In addition to their body care/self care herbal products - all made by the owner - there are unique jewelry items, curated vintage items, and unique works of art on offer. It was hard to narrow down my selection (for this trip!) but I was able to find some amazing soaps and skin care products for myself and some quirky gifts for friends and family. I had no idea what to write here, so I asked for some fairy guidance. Here goes: I am a man. If you've taken biology, you know that men have skin, too. We may lack other vital things: the ability to put clothes in the hamper, fashion sense, shoes that don't smell, etc. But we make up for it. How else would you get the pickle jar open? Or for that matter, get it down from the top shelf of the cupboard? Or, when lost, who pushes on, WITHOUT WUSSING OUT AND GETTING DIRECTIONS, I might add, to find our destination just 6 hours late? Men. And all that goodness is covered up with skin. Rough, tough, dirty, unexfoliated, brimming with toxins SKIN...that may smell like something, but it sure ain't roses. Well, Moondance Botanicals is just the place to change all of that. When we first arrived, we were served our choice of champagne, red wine, juice of some sort, and water. Also, to nibble on, dark chocolate with lavender and blueberries, and some Gouda with walnuts, and honey drizzled over the top. We then rubbed some kind of oil, (lavender, I think?) on our wrists, and then meditated with our heads down, smelling the oils for a couple of minutes. I, for one, could feel the fairies just putting the beat down on my stress. Take that, anxiety, take that, job insecurity, and take THAT, societal gender stereotypes! Vanquished, all. We concentrated on completing the phrase "I am" and had to finish it with one word. Others said "I am happy", "I am relaxed" "I am excited", etc. and though I have been walking around singing "I am beautiful" ever since, my phrase was "I am traveling". (my FIRST thought was actually "I am so happy I am in a room with so many beautiful women all to myself, eat that you mofos that laughed at me for getting a facial" but I it had to be one word.) We then picked our fairy card, and pondered it's meaning for a moment, and then read the fairy book which offered further fairy guidance. Mine was "look within yourself", and my fairy guidance was to forget all the outward affirmations that I am a good person, to set aside all the things I do to take the place of love (such as new clothes, big TVs, advanced degrees, etc.) and to look within, and to see that I am truly a beautiful human being, worthy of love, respect, and affection. Next step, exfoliation, with Quaker oats. OK, not Quaker oats, but it had an oatmeal smell and texture, I mixed with with water and I rubbed it all over my face. Though I looked like a toddler at breakfast, my skin was already starting to feel softer and revitalized. We then washed our faces, most washed their own, but my good good friends Jenn and Maha took care of me and helped me...which also illustrated that I AM worthy of care and affection. We applied some more kind of oil, to soften and moisten the skin a bit. I wish I could remember it was, but this was like learning a new language here, the language of women...which is like learning a mix of Russian, Arabic, and Mandarin. Ask them what it was, it just felt good, that's all I know. Then, the secret cult portion of the evening. we steamed open our pores with hot water in those bowls, towels over our heads until we couldn't stand it any more, or until everyone said "Dave, you can stop now". Yeah, baby, I did it the longest! What do I win? Now, the MASK! Like Spiderman? No, MASQUE, Dave. Ahhh, OK. We had our choice of Dark Chocolate (antioxidant), Clay (best for your oily T zone, wherever that is. Red zone, I can find) and Red Rose, which, I think, pulls out toxins and moisturizes. Since rubbing chocolate was suddenly socially acceptable, that was my starting point. Not in your eyes, they said. OK. not in your mouth. WHAT?! (I snuck a little, not bad!). They said I could mix them any way I wished, all 3 if I like, so I added the clay, just to my oily T zone. We used whatever was left on our hands to cover our whole hands, front and back, because we also want beautiful soft hands...and there we all sat for several minutes. Maha told me I looked like a super hero, and Jenn agreed, stating that my towel was a cape! The man points started to trickle back in. Once dry and cracking on our faces, we washed off our masques and applied another oil and a cream, whose ingredients again escape me, and we were basically done! Since we had done the facial as a group (you'll need at least 4, up to 15) we had a discount of 20% on all the products in the store. Many are hand made right in the store by a ravishing young woman. Again, names? No clue. One thing of many that I liked here was when I asked the owner what to do to help my eyes look better, the tips she gave me actually weren't sales pitches, she gave me actual USEFUL advice to help me, not to sell products. Only when I pushed on did they show me something to actually buy, and I respect that a lot. It builds credibility for me, and that's what I need to be a repeat customer. Okay, I wear a lot of dresses, but other than that I'm not super girlie. I mean I wash my face with bar soap, the kind of soap the commercials show leaving those streaks on your shower door and ask what you think it does to your body. Well, it's been doing my body just fine for decades so I'm just going to stick with it, thanks TV. But, I can rarely pass up the chance to hang out with Tara B so when she put together the spa party I said I was in. There was 11 of us in the room. I'd recommend not having more than 8 because we crowded that room right up. But, since we were all so friendly it didn't really matter. You start off the evening with champagne or red wine (I'll give you one guess which I chose), chocolate and cheese. After they've loosened you up with all of these goodies you move on to the facial part. There are lots of steps that I'm bad at remembering, but you get to apply masks made of chocolate or rose or other lovely concoctions. You get to steam your face over a large bowl of some sort of herb mixture until it becomes too hot under the towel or you're afraid of spilling all your secrets because it feels so safe. You get to moisturize and cleanse and so on and so on. Most people had soft, glowing skin. Even when I saw David S the next day he looked like a new man. My skin, used to not-so-nice ingredients became kind of red and blotchy. Stupid, sensitive skin. But, the experience was awesome and I bought some nice pillow spray that is supposed to make you have good dreams as well as some catnip that Littlest is mad about. She's been high all week. All in all, it's a lovely store and well worth the spa experience if you enjoy those sorts of things. read more

So here's an update, but it's not of another visit to the shop, it's of the products that I have now been using for a week. I mean a place like this is only as good as the products they sell, right? At the spa party, I picked up Beautiful You starter kit including the Lavender Silk cleanser, Sacred Oils face serum, Neroli face spritz and Apricot Rose face cream. I also got the triple rose mask and Pulp Friction salt massage. My daily routine is now cleanse with the lavender silk, shower, dab the sacred oil under my eye area (not RIGHT under but in the crows feet breeding grounds), mist with the neroli spritz and then all over with the apricot rose. Since starting the routine I have had zero breakouts and my skin looks better than it has in a LONG time. The rose mask is superb, not overly drying and as a weekly addon I cleanse, use the mask, dampen my skin all over and hop in the (turned off) shower to scrub down with Pulp Friction. The salt massage may be a little harsh for some people, but it's perfect for me and my ultra dry skin, weekly use keeps me from getting too flaky and dry and I tingle all over afterwards. So since the proof is in the products and their continued use, my 4 star review is now a 5 star review. Moon Dance stuff is gentle enough for continued used on normal 30something skin (I can't speak to ultra sensitive) and I will be going back soon to replenish what I need One note, I am finding that with most of these products a little goes a long way, so while the prices may seem high to some, the value will show itself over time. read more

The gal who runs the place is extremely sweet, passionate, and knowledgeable. I stopped into MoonDance on a whim, and I'm really glad that I did! I browsed a lot of different items that looked awesome. I definitely found some items that I'm going to be coming back for. Mainly for their twist on burning incense. I can't wait to try it for myself. I ended up purchasing a fresh face mask. There were two different choices and I explained to the woman at the front desk about my skin. She recommended the strawberry mask, and that's the one I decided to take home. I paid $4 for an amount in which I thought wasn't very much, but when I applied it for the first time it was more than enough. The woman told me I should be able to get about four masks worth out of it and after seeing how much I have left, I'll have enough for at least two more! It smells delicious and good enough to lick right off your face. I'm glad I tried it out and I will be back to try the others! Stop in and just browse the shop. It's very unique and trendy. THIS PLACE IS PURE MAGIC! I was looking for a pampering and low key way to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends. After finding that most spas in the area are full of naked old people, we were looking for an alternative. Thankfully my friend recommended this place and it was better than I could've imagined! We had a spa party and did the facials. Neko was the person who taught us all about the different products, and she was a delight. We had fun, we laughed, we shared, we gabbed, we drew oracle cards, we took silly pictures, and best of all, we learned how to take good care of our skin without nasty chemicals! Like almost everyone, I discovered this place through a spa party. They are such a great, fun, inexpensive group activity! But now I'm completely hooked on their products. Not only do I think they work well on my super finicky and sensitive skin, I just feel good about the choices I've made. No scary ingredients, locally made, smell amazing. Stopped by here after a lovely brunch at Table 6, which is right next door. I don't know much about the benefits of herbal-based skin care products, yet walked out of here with nearly $30some worth of products: pomegranate sun screen, bar soap, soybean heating pad. I didn't need anything, these were all impulse buys! The shop is so cute, though, it will do that to you. I asked the owner about her homemade face masks in chocolate and rose- there wasn't much left so she gave me both (about a mask's worth) of each for free. Very nice! Shop owner is very knowledgeable. I had the best massage ever at MoonDance. My husband gave me two 1-hour massages for my birthday, and I used one last Monday. Rosalie was excellent! The oils are all made at MoonDance, and I fell in love with "water". It was relaxing and much needed. I can't wait for my next massage with Rosalie. I've also been going there for facial and foot pampering spa parties alternating the two every month since July of 2009. I look forward to them every month. I can't stay away from this store. I especially love their lemongrass scrub for its refreshing, moisturizing, and exfoliating qualities. It's natural, refillable, and perfect for our climate. They often have small sample sizes you can try to see if you like something before making a larger purchase. These small sizes are also great for gifts. They also have some fun accessories (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, fairies, etc) that are also fun purchases and could be paired with their products for a nice gift bag. They gift wrap! My daughter loves the "fairy dust" bath salts that smell like lavender. The staff here is super friendly and helpful, what you would expect in such a zen-like space. Never thought I would spend money on skincare products that are not sold in the mall with fancy packaging. Don't want to sound like a snob but am not a DIY girl and handmade skincare does not sound appealing to me. But I'm So glad I found this store. I moved into the neighborhood recently and was looking for bath bombs. I usually purchase them at Lush but was interested in trying something new and preferably local. MoonDance Botanicals fit the bill. The shop is intimate with a good selection of bath products. The staff was helpful and made recommendations based on my preferences. I love this place! Not only does it smell delicious, there is magic here given to us by mother nature and weaved together by wonderful people who really understand herbology. My first impression was that it was just a foo-foo pretty soaps and lotions kind of place, which i thought was great on it's own. Then I took their herb-craft class and their honey/bee class and I am a changed person. We made a healing salve in class that healed my daughter's chronic chapped lips in 24 hours. This is after about two months of BLEEDING, cracked dry lips on which I tried everything. I put this stuff on her when I got home, by morning all the dead skin was peeling off and by that evening they were beautiful! We learned how to make tinctures, infusions, syrups, anointing oil, spray and the salve. We learned so much that now I want to never stop learning because there is so much more to it. I will be taking more classes there and will be a customer for life. They sell organic herbs in bulk and make everything there at the shop by hand. They can custom make things for you depending on what you need in your life. They have tons more to offer so check out their website. Moondance Botanicals sells botanical lotions and potions, and also offers a variety of classes. I think their clientele is probably 99% female. I took a class that Tonya, the owner, offered 3 years ago. Then I went to again to one of her spa parties last month and shopped her store afterwards. My thoughts: 1) Might seem silly to pay $12 for a spa party to give yourself a facial, but it was super fun, the products were great, and there was unlimited champagne and chocolate. And a nice guided meditation. It was well worth the $12 and it's a great thing to do with a gal pal or a mom/daughter. She also does custom parties for folks so I think it's a good idea for a teenage girl's birthday. 2) The spa party room isn't huge. We had 5 folks on the evening we went, plenty of room. 8 - 10 folks would have been fine, more than that and I think it would have been too crowded. So I would suggest checking on how many are signed up...but you can't be sure because..... 3)... Something I LOVE LOVE LOVE is that you just give your name and number to sign up (no credit card needed). You don't have to pay for the class until you show up and there are no harsh cancellation policies. If you can't come, you just cancel (they told us they had 11 signed up for our night, but 6 had to cancel). I love what a kind, generous, mellow approach that is, to not require a credit card. It's such a nice change from how other places do it. 4) This nice karma energy is not surprising because Tonya, the owner, is a very nice mellow kind of person. She gives the impression that she wants to share her gifts with the world and doesn't look at everyone as a dollar sign. 5) The products are nice and reasonably priced. She is also generous with her knowledge if you want to try to make your own herbal products @ home. If like to make your own products, I think about half the store would be stuff you can make yourself and another half of the store is well worth considering for purchase. 6) Check out the "blessing tree" in the bathroom. Really cute idea. 7) From now on, this is where I'm taking my friends for their birthday - much better than going to lunch. read more

What a great place! Everyone here is very friendly and helpful and they offer a ton of wholistic and natural/herbal remedies for almost anything. I am a big fan of their face mask series as well as the yoga mat spray. My mom came with me and she got some lotion for her hands, she has to wash them a lot and they get really dry, and she just loves it. If you are looking to go a more natural route for skin care this is an excellent place to start at. I haven't booked a party yet but they look really relaxing and pampering every time I'm in there.
