Overpriced for a half done job. Went to get a full set of acrylics. Board said $45 I paid $65 before tip. I had no cuticle or nail prep done. Nail tips were glued on half hazardous and kept popping off. I showed the guy pics of what I wanted and the almond shape I wanted and they were all uneven and lopsided. The girl working came in and quickly fixed them but had to go work with another client. I sat there for 20 minutes while they just took a break from me to go work on others. And I called ahead. The acrylic was slapped on and really bulky. Some nails were thin and some were thick. None matched. They looked pretty from afar but as they grew out the sloppy job looked more and more obvious. Also NONE of the tools were clean, neither was the station. Messy from the last client's nails and dust all over. The files were used and ripped and he kept filing into my skin. I will not be back.
This has become my go to spot for manicures and a good ol' basic pedicure. They offer the deluxe pedicure with paraffin wax and that's real fancy but I'm basic AF and I get my monies worth in that massage. I love it here and they are always friendly when I call and when I'm inside. I usually go in the afternoon on a weekday so I have yet to make a formal appointment but I always call ahead without issue. The massage is divine. Their color selection plentiful. And the prices don't break the bank for a basic ish like me.
Great pedicure! I got the standard for $30 and it was one of the best pedis I've had in Denver. I walked in on a Monday at 5:30 pm and they took me right away. He was very detailed oriented and listened to my requests with great attitude. I would definitely recommend this place.
I have been to Sao several times in the past and have always been so impressed by the quality that I've received. Unfortunately, this last time was one of the biggest disappointments I've had (in terms of nails). I got a gel manicure, nothing to exciting. But to start out with, the gal doing my nails was not friendly, she barely said anything and when I asked her to make my nails more almond shaped, she scoffed at me and sorta half-tried to do as I asked. I politely asked her to make them a little more even and she barely listened and kept doing her thing. All whilst acting annoyed. That was pretty much tolerable, however after all was said and done and I was getting polished, she really rushed it and didn't let my nails cure properly under the lights. At the time, I couldn't tell anything different so I left happy, however about an hour later I started to notice a rippling in both of my thumbnails. Not a subtle ripple either... severely bumpy and misshapen. It makes me sad that they have people on staff here that care so little about the customer experience and the quality they produce, I know that they've been better in the past. If I lived closer to Sao, I would go back in and ask for a re-do, however...I live in Boulder and there's no way I'm going to drive back down to ask for my thumbnails not to be bumpy and misshapen. With the amount of care given to me the last time, why would I expect any better. That being said, I know the Sao can do a good job- there was a moment where I was telling all of my friends the Sao was the absolute best that I'd been to, I don't want to see that change. Bring in people the genuinely care, hospitality and quality will get you everywhere.
Came here a month ago. Great nails by Lee. Now back again. Unfortunately she has to fix all my nails now after a month! Haha. Didn't have time to do fill anywhere else. They held up really good just underneath my nails curling away from acrylic. Will have her do some glue underneath this time.
*********UPDATE********* Two weeks later and I'm still getting compliments on my nails! The polish is still pristine and so is the work. Not one of the nails has broken, not even a chip or a crack, despite the fact that the acrylic is thin enough to still look natural. I really hope that my new nail tech back at home will be able to provide me with the same level of quality work and customer service that Lee did. **********END OF UPDATE********** 4.5 stars for the work, 5 for the salon experience. After my nail tech back at home decided not to do my nails because I was a few minutes late for my appointment, I came here for a last minute, emergency fill-in. I'm in town for a wedding and read great things about the salon on Yelp. I wear stiletto nails and not everyone knows how to do that particular style. I called the salon as soon as I touched down at Denver airport, and after confirming that the salon does stiletto nails, Lee (who I think is the owner) booked me an appointment for later that afternoon. From the moment I came in, I felt more than welcome. I hadn't even announced my presence yet when Lee welcomed me by name. She offered me tea (hibiscus.... mmmmm!) and had another nail tech start removing my old acrylic while she finished up with another customer. It wasn't the most comfortable or most expeditious nail removal I've ever experienced, but it got the job done... I was grateful when Lee finally took over, because the guy she asked to start taking them off didn't seem very confident in what he was doing. Everyone in the salon, from the staff to the other customers, was really nice. Very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. I found myself chatting and laughing a lot more than I normally do during a nail appointment. When it was my turn, I showed Lee a picture of what I wanted and she set off to work. The whole process took a little longer than I anticipated, but to be fair, the removal and full set greatly contributed to the amount of time required for my appointment...Especially since I did not anticipate having to remove my old acrylic. The end result is fabulous! The shape of the nails are pretty much spot on. I'm really picky and I like my nails to be uniform and sharp. I noticed really subtle differences between each of the nails (which is probably from the glitter polish I requested on top. It tends to bleed into the corners of the nails and warp the shape as it dries, making the nail shape look a little off), but it was nothing that would deter me from visiting again if I'm ever in the area. I actually asked Lee if I could take her and her shop back home with me because I enjoyed my salon experience that much! Lee was truly a lifesaver today, because my nails looked a mess and I had no idea what I was going to do after my old nail tech put me in this kind of a bind. I highly recommend this shop, especially if you have acrylic and/or stiletto nails. If I ever find myself in this area again, I'll definitely be back.
**NOTE: This review was from 9/2017. It was from my old account that has now been deleted since I have moved to my new yelp account** My first time in Colorado and I was searching for a solid place to get a pedicure. I called Sao around 12:15 on a Saturday to schedule an appointment and they were able to take me at 1! The salon is smaller than it looks, but extremely relaxing. There's soothing music playing in the background and the overall salon is quite peaceful. Something I noticed when the owner would answer the phone was that it didn't ring? So for folks in the previous reviews who weren't able to reach them by phone, I'm not sure how they know when someone is calling. Maybe vibration or lights? However, this is nice for the clients to enjoy the peaceful experience without having a loud phone ringing every so often. I also think they increased their prices..? A regular pedicure is $30. I paid $40 with an additional 10 minute massage (on top of 5 min. included in the service). Their customer and pedicure services were so great, so I didn't mind paying that price. The only reason why I deducted a star (only half if I could) from this review is because my guy didn't clean out my ingrown areas as much as I asked him to. I know some places aren't comfortable digging, but those areas can get really itchy. So I'll just have to dig it out myself but other than that, he took his time (~50/55 minutes not including drying time), which I really appreciated. Customer service 5/5 Quality of service 4.5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Cleanliness 4.5/5 Assortment of colors 4/5 Price 4/5, higher than what I was expecting, but quality of service made up for it Highly recommend!
I came so late like 30 minutes before closing but one of the ladies was so nice to assist me. I came with an idea for my nails and she was super nice to do it for me. I am super happy with it. If you are looking for some manicure in the area I totally recomendable you to come by. The girls are super nice. Definitely coming back!
I've gone to so many nail salons in Denver and I FINALLY found one that is worth coming back to. The salon is clean, the staff is friendly, and the quality of their manicures/pedicures can't be beat. My gel lasts 3+ weeks without chips. Stop going to mediocre salons!
Lee and her team always deliver a TOP NOTCH EXPERIENCE. I've been coming here for a couple of years now... no one does it better. NO ONE. Lee always makes my hands look perfect - no matter what kind of shape/polish ideas I bring. My feet are perfectly pedicured and ready to roll. I never have my mani or pedi peel after a couple of days. This work stays fresh for weeks. Awesome prices. Best people.
This place is small and busy so definitely make an appointment! This was my first time here and I picked it on great reviews. I was not disappointed! The service was friendly. Although she was running 30 mins late she didn't rush the quality of her work. I showed Lee two photos I wanted to blend and she rocked it out.
Super place. Left with a beautiful manicure on two occasions, will definitely return! Not crazy about my current color but I like getting a shellac nonetheless. Make an appointment on the weekends.

..... My nails are SO thick and bumpy. I asked a few times to have them thinner and this picture was after she "fixed them". It was $100 for a regular pedi and dip mani, no designs. Don't go.... read more

I am just going to leave these pictures here... Been here for 3 hours, they had us waiting 30 mins each time separately between the two of us. Way overpriced for what? and horrible painting, will never return or recommend.. Lady got showed frustration verbally when told nail was cut too short. Full set was too wide.. not happy with the outcome at all. They are also very awkward, not as friendly &' and don't talk at all. Customer service Idk how this place is rated 4 stars MY GOD. I would rate it 0 stars if I could. read more

What I asked for vs what I got. After asking 3 times for powder glitter on top and almond shaped nails with a prettier nude/mauve color. I will not be coming back. This was done by the male nail technician. My sister-in-law had the female nail technician and her nails came out nicely. read more

I travel for work, so I depend on Yelp to find nail salons every couple of weeks. I rarely find one that is worth reviewing, but I had an amazing experience and I have to write about it! When I first got there, I was a little apprehensive because the shop is much smaller than I anticipated. However, I knew the reviews were amazing so I sat in a seat to wait. They immediately asked what I needed (a full set) and I said I wanted to get a design. When I showed it to the nail technician (I am terrible at getting names! I think she might have been the owner, younger lady, super sweet) and she didn't seem too confident that she could do the design, but said okay anyway. A couple minutes later, one of the men brought me over to a nail desk and glued the acrylics on. Then they asked me if I wanted to sit in a pedicure chair while I waited for someone that could do the powder finish. I waited about 30-45 minutes and then the same lady as before took me and did my nails. She was so sweet and tried so hard to perfectly follow the picture I brought in. I went in with terrible nails - completely beaten up and broken. And I walked out with INCREDIBLE nails. If I lived in Denver, this would absolutely be my go-to place. If you live here, please go and see these wonderful people! read more

Le, maya, queen, sam, jade- these amazing ladies made my day! While on vacation here in Aurora, needing a pedi and fill, I yelped and found this treasure of a Salon. I felt VERY welcomed the moment I arrived. I'm so overwhelmed that I don't have this little shop in my Portland, OR area. Thank you ladies for a wonderful time! If I'm ever in the area again, I will be back. read more

A couple years ago I had a traumatizing experience at a different nail salon. The ladies were making fun of me and had no idea I understood their language. Since then, I haven't been back to a nail salon until today. SAO NAILS is a game changer. I'm so glad I let Yelp steer me towards them because Lee and her team were all super personable, professional and easy to talk to. Not only did they offer me water but my nails look AMAZING. They're also very clean. John did my pedicure and it was perfect. Samantha prepped my nails and Lee did my coffin shaped acrylics. Lee is super sweet and a total perfectionist. They have so many colors and options to choose from. I 100% will be coming back here and will also bring my friends. read more

Fantastic little place! I decided on this one just because it had great yelp reviews, and I was still surprised at how good it was! I got a full set of acrylics with polish/shellac on top, and they did such a beautiful job! The attention to detail is not something I have seen in places like this before, and they took the time and effort to make sure I walked out of there with absolutely exactly what I wanted. They were also incredibly friendly and charged me far less than I'd anticipated. I highly recommend this place, and I will definitely be going back. read more

Decided to finally treat myself to mani and pedi since my feet desperately needed to be cleaned up. The staff was wonderful and accommodating as I called ahead and they were still busy when I arrived but they took me at the time they told me to come. My shellac manicure is amazing, she did a great job and i would definitely come back for that. The gal that did my toes was also wonderful and did a great job. However, yesterday my toe started to hurt and it is definitely infected. This started after I had the pedicure and haven't had any issues with the toe. I know this is a "risk" you take, but it really shouldn't have to be. Especially for a salon that is rated so highly. I do wish they would use new tools rather than the same ones that are disinfected. I just grabbed an unlucky straw I guess! Just be aware...the staff is wonderful and they did a great job but not worth it for this! I'll get my shellac manicures here but no longer a pedicure. Just an FYI I did call the store and let them know, I talked to two different people. And she did say she would remind people to clean their tools.... read more

This is hands down the best nail spa that I have ever been to! The wonderful ladies who work here are incredibly welcoming and do an amazing job every time. They always find a way to fit my friend and I in, even when they are crazy busy... which they usually are so make sure you call ahead for an appointment! I went here today based solely on the positive reviews and am writing this review to give them merit. I had a great experience! Being less than a week before Christmas I figured they would be busy but the woman that answered the phone was more than willing to fit me in on such short notice (especially on Saturday morning). I arrived before their hours on the door stated that they were open and they got started right away and offered bottled water or hot tea. I got a shellac manicure ($30) and it turned out beautiful. I wish I had got the name of the woman who did it for me but from all other reviews, they are all great! All 3 of the women in there were regulars which said a lot. I then got my eyebrows waxed ($12) and she also did a great job! The salon is small but cute and clean. They have 5 pedicure chairs and a table with 4 seats for nail services. I will definitely go back! I would highly recommend you try them out and call ahead to be safe in case they are busy (good sign!). read more

My friends and I were searching for a new salon to do acrylic nails (we are all very picky) and I am so glad we found Sao! Everyone is kind and made sure we were taken care of. The nail artists were SO skilled and wanted to be certain we were happy with every step of our nails. Our acrylic nails are beautiful and look really natural. They really took their time to make sure they were pretty and not too thick. Truly, it was the best experience I've ever had a nail salon. It's a clean and relaxing shop! Thanks Sao Salon read more
