But I went here with a friend at her urging and had a facial w Gina. I was not expecting much bc it was only $50 for the special they were running for walk ins, but I went anyway. Wow. This totally changed my mind about facials in general, and now I know what the results are really supposed to be. Gina was awesome. Intuitive, accommodating, attentive to detail, thorough. She really took her time with me and it was well worth it. My skin looked amazing like I've never seen it and it lasted for a good week. I will now be a regular here bc wow! Sooo worth it!

So, I've been having a rough couple of days. Well…read more.. A rough couple of years. But the past few days have been especially difficult. Upon arriving at my appointment, I was feeling raw and vulnerable and tired and teary, which means I also felt especially ugly. I told Karen that I was wallowing in self-loathing and that today was probably going to be a challenge. Because why hold back when you're probably going to be bawling by the end of the appointment anyway, right? Especially when 'Jar of Hearts' and similar melodramatic, heart-wrenching songs* come on while you're being stabbed in the face. Well, she was so lovely to me and I left feeling so much better about myself afterwards that I did end up bawling in the car on the way home because I was so damn relieved. I'm used to women being completely awful to me, so I have come to expect it. But she is kind, funny, compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled, gentle, understanding, and efficient. And she gives me exactly what I want without rushing me or being condescending. I heart her. *that she will change to something more upbeat when you mutter 'oh, for fuckssake' and start to get misty

Well, I purchased two services through Groupon and have no idea if I am going to be coming back. (Leaning towards a no at this point) So I filled out her form and again reiterated that I wasn't leaving my CC #. Her tone and attitude was SO rude and condescending that I decided right then and there that no way was I letting this person touch me, or even spend another moment in her presence. So, if you want to be talked down to....this is your place. Also it's challenging to find and you will likely end up in the wrong parking lot. I got a facial wax (which was the best part, read on to find out why...) and triple peel facial. LACY knew what she was talking about. I would ask her about my home routine and products I currently use. She was honest in telling me ingredients to look out for and didn't make me feel like a cheap idiot for anything I was using. She didn't try to hype me on her stuff, either. As she performed each step of the facial, she would tell me what to expect every step of the way. ("This will tingle a little bit," and "now I'm going to extract," and "is this the right pressure?") She used the steamer and lots of warm, wet towels, each one seemed to strip away a layer of stress from my hectic life. The products had good scents, none of which were overwhelming. (I have a sensitive nose.) But the facial wax! Every other time I have gotten waxed, it has definitely been a teeth gritting affair. It can bring tears to your eyes, ripping the relaxation right out of an otherwise amazing appointment. But Lacy is QUICK and seriously PAINLESS! Never before have experienced a wince-less wax job. While others have felt like a series of shots or blood draws, this felt more like pulling off a band-aid. I love LACY at Susie Organic! When you get the chance to spoil yourself with a facial, Lacy will make sure you walk away feeling refreshed, renewed, and revitalized. Thanks, Lacy!

I cannot thank you enough, Yelp, for organizing another Elite event with a spa, and this time,…read moreHeyday. Until this Elite experience was organized, I had no clue such a place existed. Hence, it's a nice way to get to know a spa like this; had I not signed up for it, Heyday would have been unknown to me for the rest of my life (might be an exaggeration but hey, when you are excited about something sometimes you want to amplify what you want to say, right?) I was simply overdue for a facial. Counting months from the last visit I had, my anticipation towards today's experience was HIGH. I felt like skipping to show up with a big grin on my face! They were expecting me because as soon as I stepped in, a young lady at the reception said, "You are Rika, right?" It was so nice to be expected! Since the first timer intake form was completed prior to visiting, the check-in took only a minute. I was a bit early for my appointment time. While I was waiting, I checked out some of the products that were displayed. I even tested a few of them on my skin; I was immediately impressed with it. Right at the appointment time (of 5:30pm), my esthetician, Aunjanee, came out from the back and greeted me. The young lady upfront explained to me about their cabins/stalls/room (however you describe it.) You'll be one-on-one with your esthetician in one cabins/stalls/rooms but it's an open-air system so you'll hear other people's talking/voices from other cabins/stalls/rooms. Some appear to dislike this system, this didn't bother me AT ALL (I've been to a facial place where it was a barber shop/hair salon style where they'll put you in one big room.) People can be chatty and loud but even if that happens, I think I'd still be able to handle the "noises". Aunjanee was so considerate of my old/sensitive skin. Once she cleansed my face using two different cleansers, she analyzed my skin thoroughly. She pointed out some problem areas and explained what would need to be done to tackle them. Her clear explanation was easily understood. And all the ingredients she used on my face had AMAZING scents. And the extraction part came. Since she wanted to clear the "congestions" especially on my nose, she squeezed it pretty hard (lol). This didn't bother me though as it wasn't painful. Oh, by the way, this place does not use steamers on people's faces; they only use hot towels (this was also explained to me upfront by the receptionist (I think); I wonder why that is. I didn't bother to ask. Was this a problem to me? Nope! I was OK with that 100%! 50 minutes of facial was just the right length. Because the whole experience was so relaxing (Aunjanee's soft voice had a hypnotic power) I was (at one point) half asleep! At the end, Aunjanee let me see the end result. My face was glowing like a bright moon in the dark sky! My parched middle-aged skin was supersonic hydrated. This was by far the BEST facial experience in a while. Thanks again, Yelp; You always organize great events like this to pamper/spoil us (I'm not complaining though!!) Thanks, Heyday; What a great salon! I will definitely spread the word!!

I do think it's important to note that the value of the 50-minute facial was $135, and for me, I probably wouldn't normally treat myself to this service. So it was truly a gift! And much needed hour of relaxation in my postpartum days. Setting up the appointment was so convenient through Heyday's website and creating an account. I actually had to chance the time of my appointment and was able to do it all online without having to call, which helped save me a lot of time. My personalized facial was with Ananda, who began by asking me what I wanted to focus on. I had no idea so just said anti-aging...? She talked to me about the importance of wearing sunscreen and exfoliating (once a week). Since the facial was free, I added the guasha treatment (for $50) which was a massage using stone in a scraping motion across the face and neck. I actually have a guasha tool that I have no idea how to use, so the experience was helpful! I loved all the smells from the products and was really relaxed laying with a warm blanket on a rainy day. After the facial, I bought two Dr. Loretta products - sunscreen and exfoliating pads which Ananda had used during the facial and recommended for me. I left feeling rejuvenated and inspired to take better care of my skin.
