WORST PHARMACY ANYWHERE. For years this Walgreens branch has had an incredibly MEAN and rigid, unhelpful pharmacist named Iris Paw. She goes out of her way to put roadblocks in the way of simple kindnesses she could offer Walgreens customers. I remembered her from years ago when every chance she got she made it difficult for me to pick up prescriptions for our daughter. Today I made the huge mistake of signing up to get a flu vaccine at this Walgreens and once again was forced to deal with her poor social skills and unwillingness to be of any help. When we have choices as to which pharmacy we do business with this is the last pharmacy I would visit again. This staff has no idea what customer service means and they deserve to go out of business, keeping on horrible people like Iris Paw year in and year out. read more

The pharmacy staff here just doesn't care. I have tried to get the flu shot here twice. First time, they had me fill out the paperwork and wait for 45 minutes, the person that gave the paperwork was the person that gives the vaccine...turns out she clocked out and left. I had returned the paperwork within minutes. The staff should have known someone was waiting for them. Second time, I show up and I get there on time, close to the cut off but still on time, they refuse to give me the flu shot. They said I was late, I told them I was on time. The Assistant Manger Wendy Ung, said just mechanically apologized and went about the transaction. I just got the sense that they get complaints all day long and just don't care. It just seemed like, yeah, another dissatisfied customer, let's finish the transaction, next! Also, I was there for an hour, the line moving at snails pace. Part of the reason I didn't make it in earlier to the register. I am going to transfer my prescriptions. The are overpriced in their regular items and the pharmacy is terrible. read more

This is a pretty good Walgreen's with a lot of room and a pretty nice staff. I recommend going to this one. What I don't like is the fact that the scary psychos from Berkeley bowl next door try to fight you for the Walgreen's parking space. read more

A plus to this Walgreens is the fact that there is a parking lot, given the fact that it is in Berkeley. The store had what I needed and enough cashiers to handle my transaction without having to stand in a long line. The signs of not being allowed to park there and run across the street to Berkeley Bowl was a bit intimidating to this law-abiding citizen. I did need and get something at Walgreens but I also needed just a few items at Berkeley Bowl. I ended up getting back in my car to move it less then half a block away. There might have been spaces for me to park earlier so that I could go to both shops and park once, but the Walgreens lot was closest to me at the time and didn't know about the signs saying I couldn't run across the street. read more

Best Walgreens ever--it's f'ing huge and they are never out of sales items, which is usually what happens at most other locations. Very friendly and helpful staff. While I feel sorry for the person who got the car boot after parking in the lot and going over to Berkeley Bowl, the signs warning people that their cars will be booted if they park and immediately leave the lot are clearly posted and there is visible security personel patroling the lot. This is the worst pharmacy I've encountered anywhere, any time. The techs give incorrect info about refilling scripts. When asking questions, their response is full of attitude. If you call, be prepared for long hold times (20 mins yesterday) and dealing with multiple people. I'm transferring my scripts to CVS and hoping for better. read more

Very convenient Walgreens. It is bigger than your average Walgreens in the area. It also has enough parking where you don't have to bother with street parking. It is very popular though as in the couple times I've come, there was a pretty big line to check out. read more

Open conveniently late for anybody that happens to get off work super late at night, or for that occasional moment when you're in the shower and realize you're out of shampoo, the horror! This place is pretty big for a Walgreens and is jampacked full of merchandise. They really do have a wide range of products from food, to toiletries and everyday products. This place even contains a pharmacy. In all my interactions with the staff here, I have got to say that they are really friendly and helpful individuals. They're able to assist you in finding exactly what you need and if they don't personally know where to find it, there's definitely someone who does. The lines can get pretty long at times but it's nowhere near as long as a wait as the stores located closer to campus. My only dig with walgreens is that everything is usually a little more expensive. Other than when things are on sale, they're usually not worth buying. You could probably save a buck or two shopping somewhere else. But for those moments when you really need something and the only thing that is open is Walgreens, well you're probably in luck because it's highly likely you'll find it there. I started filling my prescriptions here because it is closer to my residence than the CVS where I previously filled my prescriptions. I get the same prescriptions every month and it's important that I take it every day. Every month they have to order the prescription. Pretty much every time I call to check on when it will be ready and they tell me two days. They go past and I call again. I'm told the same thing. Repeat. I call again and find out it they never ordered it. Sometimes I've gone nearly two weeks without medication. Totally unacceptable. I will be switching back to CVS. They were much better. The longest I ever waited there was 2 to 3 days. I also tried filing a complaint with Walgreens via their website and the form doesn't even work. Not surprised. read more

Front store After visiting UC berkley I have been to this Walgreens couple of times due to location. Parking wasn't as hassle as I thought. This is totally different concept of Walgreens i used to know in northern Virginia. Love their deli selection and large selection of groceries when normal Walgreens is about one isle of grocery. It's a busy location and I have never seen so many college students shopping at Walgreens. They have all their registers open and lines are long but quick. It's bring your own bag or they'll charge you 10 cents which i have no complaint. No plastic bag which is good for environment. Pharmacy department most of the time I saw long lines so that mean something else. read more

This is actually one of the better walgreens in this area. It has a Private Parking lot With A Security guard, And They Dont Limit You On Time Like others. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable on their inventory, and I love how they put in an effort to get to know me( Ting in photo is legit). They always run great weekly specials and their holiday closeouts are far superior than others. Also, Thomas is A great manager, he goes above and beyond to satisfy the customer. read more

The store is okay. The pharmacy is a clown show! I'd had some mediocre experiences with them but tonight's episode left me resolved never to use them again. Unbelievably slow service (waited an hour to have Rx filled they said would take 20 minutes), gave incorrect information about price and quantity, and ultimately tried to charge me 50% more than I would have paid for the same vitamins over the counter. I mean--literally the same product, since I saw the pharmacist walk into the store, pick up the bottle, then open it and count the pills into a prescription container. After several go-rounds with additional delays and inept pharmacy assistants, I was finally able to return the vitamins for a refund. Then I went to CVS on Telegraph and bought the vitamins on 2-for-1. read more

This should be your last option, when everything else is closed!!! * Passport photos are the worst quality ever seen, while they charge you Max! (Way much better quality and cheaper option one block away in Berkeley!!!) * You may think KitKat, Snickers and other global brands would be the same everywhere: Well Walgreens are not the same quality, look at the EXPIRATION DATE before you buy. Most stores will have 5-10months away expiration date, this Walgreens' product are very close expiration date and I have already found European brands Kinder that were already expired! Consistently bad experiences at the pharmacy. For example, hospital calls in prescription the day before. I show up 24 hours later and am told that they "are stilling filling it." When I tell them they have had it for over twenty four hours, they say it will be thirty minutes. And then they close the pharmacy for lunch. If I were a superhero, my archnemesis would be a pharmacist at Walgreens. I'm changing to Kaiser so I can finally berate them the way they need to be berated (in writing) because feedback I have given in store on online goes nowhere. -They are always understaffed. There is generally a line of 5 people or more, several of whom use walking aids and can't stand for 30 minutes. They have 2 or three windows available but they use one. -I have literally been punched by a patron waiting in line behind me because he was so tired of waiting. LITERALLY PUNCHED. -I get email notifications that scripts are ready that are bullshit. When I go in, they say I have to wait 20 minutes (read: an hour) to get it filled. I generally leave and come back another day. -Today was my last trip there and one of my scripts, which is normally $2 after insurance, was $30 after insurance. I told them I have never paid that much for it and I could sit and wait (there were six people behind me in line with one pharmacist working) and they could run it again. It's a beautiful sunny day and I have no interest in waiting for them to do their job right the second time. I paid the $28 just to make my day better. -The above wouldn't have been an issue if another script I had was not improperly billed through insurance EVERY OTHER MONTH. -At one point, the script above had something wrong with the bag. They had to move it from one white bag to another white bag and I had to wait 45 minutes for them to do that. I didn't even want that bag. You had to go to college for this job and, from what I know, it pays very well. The cashiers up front to a much better job serving the public. I can't wait for this job to be automated so you scan your scripts, a computer cross references your medication to make sure you can mix them, and then it dispenses them. All in one minute. Kaiser FTW. They'll just send my meds every month, free of charge, and it's seamless. read more

It's never easy comin in here but this time was particularly bad... we waiting in the aisle while the loud speaker called for someone to help us for 20 MINUTES not exaggerating. When no one came I waived down an employee and told him we had been waiting and asked for help. The man I asked for help, a larger bald employee with glasses, named Walter, replied by saying "I need a drink" and walking away. He never came back to help. Small ice cream selection, but it was nice to walk around and see all the stuff we didn't need. I recently had the worst experience at this pharmacy. I had just came from the Urgent Care down the street where the doctor prescribed me with Tamiflu (which needed to be taken immediately) and a cough Syrup and was sent directly to Walgreens. I needed to wait to have them filled, I paid, and walked away, as I was walking I realized they only gave me the cough syrup and no flu medication. I went back to inform the pharmacist and they had closed the shutters. I knocked on the shutters and heard them speaking behind the shutters with no avail. I found the store manager & informed her of the situation and she proceeded to tell me that the pharmacist was in a bad mood that night. When she went to inform the pharmacist of my situation, the pharmacist did not have the decency to come out and speak to me, she proceeded to speak through the store manager informing her that the doctor only sent in one medication and that I needed to contact the doctor and pick it up tomorrow. I currently do not live in Berkeley, I live in San Diego and was on vacation with my family staying in San Mateo. When I left, I proceeded to call another Walgreens that was 24 hours and confirmed that the doctor in fact did submit both of my medications to the location I originally attempted to go on Adelie Str. I ended up having to drive to San Carlos just to pick up my Flu medication. I do not recommend this pharmacy or pharmacy to anyone as they have piss poor service! read more

My go to walgreens to get quick travel supplies or if i'm temporarily out of something. This location have a wide selection of just about everything and it includes a little deli to get quick snacks, tv dinners or whatever for college students in the area. The location itself is pretty clean and organized and the cashiers are fast and friendly. Located right across the street from Berkeley bowl and you can knock out 2 birds with 1 stone and get grocery shopping done. read more

Walgreens sent out an email that they are open early on Tuesdays, from 8:00AM - 9:00AM for people over 60. While the store did open today, the shelves are mostly empty. No paper products what-so-ever. I spoke with one of the employees and they told me delivery is on Wednesday. Why would Walgreens do this? Just so they can say they're doing something for seniors? There were old people waiting out front to get in, one woman had a cane, only to get inside and find they had none of the items she needed. Why wouldn't Walgreens offer this to seniors after the delivery rather than before? What they've done is worse than not having a special hour for seniors to shop. read more

I despise this Walgreens pharmacy. So much. I am a very calm person, almost never get angry. Every experience I've had with this pharmacy has made me want to scream and punch through a wall. Just now, I called to fill a prescription, and they couldn't find me in their computer. Next they put me on hold, for 10 minutes, with horrible 80s music, occasionally picking up and putting back on hold without saying anything. Then they hung up on me. Now it is probably lunch break time, so they won't be calling me back. Last time I dealt with them they made me cry. I wish I had a car, so I could go to Safeway pharmacy on solano; I like them. But I don't, and I was trying to get my meds at a time between the torrential downpours. read more

This Walgreens has an excellent photo department with poster-printing capabilities, which no other Berkeley or El Cerrito stores have. The photo tech was patient with me as I checked through the quality of photos I had printed and kindly reprinted the one that had an issue. Another tech also previously caught an issue with some of the digital prints getting cut off, downsizing the appropriate frames. Thus this store is now on my list of possible drug stores given the parking isn't so bad with the decreased burden on the Berkeley Bowl across the street. I have usually had good experiences here, despite regularly long pharmacy lines. I confess that afternoon did not start off going great, so it was extra challenging to take this experience in stride. I was here with my squirrelly 7 year old daughter to pick up a prescription for that aforementioned kin. When we got in the store, there were six people in the pharmacy line. I should have known better, but I had promised my daughter a treat. We looked around for a while, found some candy. By the time I got back to the line, it had gotten LONGER, not shorter. I didn't have a lot of time and the clock ticked, and the line didn't move. I finally decided to abort the mission, despite that it means we will have to go back tomorrow. Having promised my daughter a treat, we ran across to the berkeley bowl and paid in the deli line during the time it probably took them to serve 2 customers. When I got back to our car, I got stopped by a security lady sitting in her car for having gone across the street, despite the fact that there were a number of spaces available in the lot. I explained the situation and she scowled at me and said I'm not supposed to do that instead of, "oh, I'm really sorry that you made a trip here for nothing. I'll report to the management that we may want to consider increasing our staff in the peak afternoon periods." Thanks for making an already difficult situation worse, walgreens. You know there's a Yelp review for the "Walgreens Parking Lot?" Reason is that if you happen to park in front of Walgreens, and then amble across the pavement to shop at Berkeley Bowl before securing your pharmacy needs, you may (like I did, this morning) find a BOOT on your car. I must admit that my east coast roots took hold as I swore profusely at the unfortunate wench assigned to this particular job. And of course in order to get the heck out of there I had to hand her CASH. Talk about lame. I'll be writing to Walgreens with a receipt of my purchases there this morning, plus a receipt for the cash money paid to aforementioned wench. Might be fine for flip-flops, Twizzlers, and your photo finishing needs, but this Walgreens has certainly lost my business! read more

The store itself is clean, well stocked, and the staff is relatively friendly. Being right across the street from Berkeley Bowl makes it easy to run multiple errands without driving. In most Walgreens when there are 3 or more people in line, the cashier calls for backup. That's not always the case here. The line is always long and rarely do I see more than one cashier. It usually takes me longer to check out then it does for me to find what I'm looking for. read more
