I don't usually write bad reviews but felt that my experience could benefit others. From the moment I was called back to get my MRI, it was a rush job. Not sure why because the MRI tech that brought me back was shooting the breeze with the woman at the front desk for over 10 minutes. She was talking fast and made no mention of the fact that I'm clostrophobic....all readily available on the paperwork in her hands. She asked if I had any transdermal patches. I told her yes and she said I would need to remove it but never gave me the opportunity to do so. She quickly changed the subject to asking me if I had any metal in my clothing, jewelry, etc as she was shoving earplugs into my hands telling me to put them in my ears, all while expecting me to hear her explaining how I was to position myself on the table, confirming what they were imaging, and shoving headphones on my head saying spa music is ok right, and then moving me into the machine before I could finish speaking. Needless to say, the transdermal patch was never removed. Thankfully my patch didn't have metal in it as many do. It could have resulted in severe burns and an overdose of medication. We need to stop and tell these people to slow down, as this could have ended badly. So use caution if you go to the Cary location. read more

Everyone was very friendly and easy to deal with. Clear instructions where provided from the time you entered until time for you to leave. No one left you guessing as to what was needed or your steps in the process. They made it very comfortable (well as much as possible). Great visit. read more

Kris G They have a huge scheduling problem, and it's not a new thing. I do NOT recommend going to Wake Radiology for your mammograms. I have been going there for years, and every time I am disgusted with the wait. During the Pandemic, they said stay in your car until we text you so that no one is in the waiting room. After sitting in my car for 30 minutes, they texted me, and I went in to find 5 other people waiting in the waiting room with me. I was not seen for 20 minutes. This year I got there at 12:55 and left at 3:55. I spent most of my time in a "cubby" sitting on a wooden bench. The tech told me to keep the door open so that I could stay warm. I froze. I ended up putting my shirt on over the flimsy gown, to stay warm. Wake Radiology is all about the science. Not about treating people with dignity and respect. read more

Well,as expected there has been a change in service with new Mgt. Previously the Radiologists could do additional views if what was ordered was not the ideal protocol for the patient . Apparently this will now change --that the Radiologists were 'doing too many additional views '. What a shame --at one time what was best for the patient was the driving concern over the number of views being done . A recent visit was quite different from prior studies ,both in the behavior of the Techs and -at one point -being mis- informed about what was actually done .I had to make several phone calls to straighten that out . I will look into my options for other service after a long association with this group .Which I hate --up till now they have had some excellent Radiologists. This is what happens I believe when Physicians cede control to other entities . read more

Kim and Greg at Wake Radiology 300 Asheville (at the reception area) were phenomenal in helping my brother find a work order for his lumbar spine. They took the time to call different offices. They were so patient and understanding in helping my brother out since he is a little slow due to his disability. It took a while but they succeeded in finding the work order. I've gone to Wake Radiology on Ashville Avenue in Cary for many years for my yearly mammogram. I had a mammogram in June. I never heard anything for 10 to 14 days so I'm sitting here fat and happy thinking everything's OK. Then I get a letter in the mail, snail mail of all thing's, telling me there was an abnormality, and I needed to come back for further testing. I don't know why or when they stopped calling patients after a mammogram has been read to request them to come back in. With two weeks having passed....I'm thinking everything is OK! I went back for an ultrasound and also a biopsy and everything was fine. The doctors were wonderful (Dr. Pretter and Dr. Wellman). The nurses and technicians were wonderful, the staff wonderful. The way they notify you now that there's a problem NOT WONDERFUL!!!!! read more

Please be sure to ask what happens during an MRI. I never had one and thought it just took a few minutes. Mine was close to 20 minutes with my shoulder completely immobilized and in pain. Plus I had to wear a mask. I left sobbing, never again!! They need to tell people what to expect. read more

My husband had an MRI appt with Wake Radiology in Cary today. Due to my health this am, we were 11 min late. My husband is an amputee, using crutches, on oxygen & in severe back pain. Needless to say he walks very slowly. Once we got inside, the rude receptionist said we were 15 min late & would have to reschedule. I told her my husband has been in pain for months & really needs to have the MRI done, but she wouldn't accept that reasonable request due to their tight schedule. How many times have we all had to wait 15 min or more to see a doctor? I'm extremely upset that they would not see him! She said she would reschedule him, but did not do so & said we'd have to call to reschedule which takes forever on their phone! Needless to say we won't be using Wake Radiology ever for any services! Maybe they need to let the receptionist go & replace her with a more caring person. read more

I came to Wake Radiology for an ultrasound based on my doctor's referral. Once you arrive, you have to find the correct department ( ultrasound, MI etc) because each department has its own office suite. The staff was very friendly and I was checked in very quickly . The facility is very clean and I was in and out in about 30 minutes. The technologists had great bedside manner and I was even happier when I saw that they use Siemens imaging equipment :-) read more

I went in for my annual mammogram, since they have been doing my mammo's for 10 years they were able to see a change which was eventually diagnosed as breast cancer. I've always had excellent service from all members of the Wake Radiology team. Dr. Burke was kind, thoughtful and very thorough. I could not have asked for a better team to have gone through a very rough time in my life. I'm grateful for Dr. Burke and her team's expertise in finding my cancer and then preparing me for surgery and radiation. I never had to worry about the insurance as they called my insurance company before each step of treatment to check for coverage. I have no doubt they saved my life. DH read more

Beware... I am a healthy woman who received a $400.15 bill. I went in for my annual mammogram at Wake Radiology Cary and I only had one question. How much would the mammogram cost? I did the 3-D mammogram the previous year and it was 60-75 additional dollars out of pocket. The lady said, "$75-$150, but no more than $150. I was good with $150 or less for a 3-D version, but keep in mind I was NOT having any issues. Is a mammogram as important as society claims to a woman's health? I made a reasonable decision to pay a reasonable fee to find out. What I got was a bill for $400.15 and a rude, insensitive office lady who did nothing to help. What is reasonable... I am! Explain the cost, don't hide behind them, too much information is always better than not enough. I was not given a choice for a $400.15 bill. Which brings me to where I am at this point. Don't make the same bad choice I made in using Wake Radiology- save yourself the hassle and aggravation unless they are up front and honest in the beginning, but I wouldn't hold my breath or would you? read more

I don't understand why others are blaming Wake Radiology for their payment problems. Check with your insurance coverage. I had to have a chest x-ray in an emergency situation. My doc sent me there as a walk in The staff were courteous and professional and I was in and out very quickly. My doctor got the results and sent me an email that very same day to tell me about it. We are being harassed and bullied by this company! My wife had surgery early this year, Wake Med sent the x-rays to an out of network provider (Wake Radiology) to be read. (There were other in network contractors) They only got paid the out of network rate. I see another reviewer mentions to check whether these people are in your network, well unfortunately we had no idea or choice in the process. So Wake Radiology only got paid the out of network rate and they are now offering to send the bill collectors after us and to lower our credit, as they are trying to collect the balance from us. Our insurance company told us not to pay this bill, that if Wake Radiology had questions to call them our insurance company. I think this is called balance billing and has been in the news lately. read more

I came in for an MR Arthogram for my hip, a procedure that I have had before. Everyone was nice and scheduling was easy, but after it all I was charged $600 for a diagnostic procedure after insurance. This is highway robbery, I have had this procedure done with little out of pocket cost, and there are other radiology facilities in the Triangle that do the same procedure for half the cost. Unfortunately my doctor insisted I go through them because they probably have some sort of set up since they are too expensive to get patients! Seems like are willing to squeeze money out of students who live paycheck to paycheck to pay for their board members' steak dinners. :( I explained that I was a student and they put me on a 2 year payment plan -___- so i will still be paying my MRI off after I get my Ph.D. Save your money and try to get set up at a more cost effective facility. read more

Went to the Panther Creek office for my 19th annual mammogram. We all know that there is some discomfort with this procedure. The technician hand turned the knob so that I was in excruciating pain for all 4 scans even though I clearly voiced my pain level and that it was well beyond anything I had previously experienced. As a result, I had a 3+ inch line of torn skin on the top of one of my breasts. Felt as if I had been assaulted. Called and spoke to the manager who was very kind and offered a free visit to see a radiologist and get some cream but flt this was just to placate me. In a non-Covid world, I would definite;y pursued this further but now just want to warn other women. read more

OK where to begin. The parking is a disaster. Employees have about 10 spaces to park and patients about five. Waiting for a mammogram 30 minutes early, and a lady comes in saying she just got off a cruise ship and was sick. The Coronavirus has everyone being cautious. This lady was allowed to stay. My appointment was at 3:20, I was here by 3 o'clock and registered, and it's now 348 and I'm leaving with no mammogram. The office would get a zero if it was possible. read more

I had an MRI here and just received a bill of over $1100. Yes, I know my insurance; yes, I was expecting to pay something, but this is outrageous. Good customer service would include some forewarning what a service will cost so a consumer could make an educated decision. If they can take the time to ensure that my insurance would cover the procedure, then they could take the time to let me know what my out of pocket expense could possibly be - even a range would have been nice. read more

Very disappointed. Attempted to inquire several times about my address being incorrect in their system and about services billed. Nothing recorded in file about these issues or prior calls made. Yet without notice account was sent to collections. Call from Lauren at First Point Collections was sudden, unexpected and rude - basically called me a liar since Wake Rad had nothing documented. All occurred during coronavirus stay at home order. Nothing could be corrected on account despite multiple attempts to do so. My experience is Wake Radiology fails to treat patients kindly or with respect, and that they keep poor records. read more

I've been here twice in the past 7 days, first for X-rays, and then a return trip for an MRI. The staff has been friendly and professional. The facilities are nice and well kept. I actually slept through part of my MRI. ( My own snoring woke me several times). My one complaint is addressed to the administrative side of my visit. My MRI film was not sent to my orthopaedist as promised, only the report of my MRI findings. This necessitated yet another set of X-rays today in order for the orthopaedist to diagnose my knee pain. Not cool, especially after being assured that the film would be delivered in time for my appointment. read more

I needed an MRI of my lower spine. I have had an MRI before and, while not pleasant, I was able to get through it. I went to one Radiology office and had an awful experience. Once in the tube, I had a panic attack. I have never experienced anything like it. I had to stop it before it really began. My doctor offered to write a prescription to have IV valium prior to my second attempt. This time, I went to Wake Radiology. What a completely different experience, even if you don't account for the valium (which did help). The staff person, Tammy, was warm and helpful. She explained the whole process, let me keep my leggings and socks on and put me in the tube feet first. She broke the process down into 3-5 minute sections rather than just telling me the whole thing would last 20 minutes. Just those few changes made all the difference and I think I could do it again with feet first! Masks during this time do make one feel more claustrophobic but I was O.K. because I could see the outside. What a difference a caring staff can make! read more

Clean as a whistle. Friendly, professional, excellent experience with a dye study MRI (no pain at all). The MRI is brand new, sheets are clean, pads are provided to make you more comfortable on the table, and they have ear phones for music. Highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and buy Mac Wax earplugs to wear under the headphones (foam ones they provide don't work for me). Contrast this w/Alliance Mobile imaging used by Raleigh Radiology. Wretched. Their MRI machine is 5+ years old in the back of a truck. The entire time you're inhaling the diesel fumes - AWFUL. I don't even know if they offer ear plugs (I brought my own). No blankets, not that they were needed. It was actually warm inside and reeked of the cigarette smoke odor from one of the techs. I'd NEVER go back. Wake Radiology has my vote forevermore. read more

Wake Radiology may have nice nurses, but they ripped me off. Despite having all my insurance info, they checked me in, and later billed me for $1744! Insurance paid $581, because that's what Blue Cross pays. BIG RIPOFF. read more
