Unfortunately, my most recent experience with Dr. Agarwal was very disappointing…read more A biopsy had been recommended based on previous imaging. I returned for a repeat/second-look ultrasound with Dr. Agarwal, with the understanding that the area would be reassessed and we would then discuss the findings and whether biopsy, aspiration, or monitoring was the appropriate next step. After the ultrasound, Dr. Agarwal entered the room and essentially announced that she was there to perform the biopsy. There was no initial discussion of what the new ultrasound showed, whether anything had changed, or what my options were. It wasn't until I stopped her and began asking questions that we actually had a discussion about the imaging and recommendation. My concern was the way the recommendation was presented and Dr. Agarwal's overall bedside manner, which I found quite curt and unsettling. I hope Wake Radiology takes this feedback constructively. A few minutes of compassionate communication and discussion can make an enormous difference in a patient's experience.

Today the turnaround time was different. Very slow process. People who came after me were called ahead of me. (perhaps a different type of X-ray?) The total wait time of around 27 minutes to get called back. The time it took to change and complete the X-rays was less than 13 minutes, so it was very quick once in the back. Wait time on this visit was not the best. I would like this office to normalize e-forms instead of paper and pens. I would also like to see the same tech without having to ask. Besides that, the technicians are always nice and accommodating. My technician Laura did a great job making sure I was comfortable during my X-rays. I appreciated this!

The front desk staff were curt and rude. The most frustrating part was driving 30+ mins for my appointment only to be told it needed to be rescheduled because there was no provider available. No one called or notified me ahead of time. While I understand that unexpected staffing issues can happen, patients deserve timely communication. I expected a higher level of professionalism and patient care. Unfortunately, this experience left me with little confidence in the practice, and I chose to seek care elsewhere.

There are three main entrances to Duke Health Center at Southpoint, and I've now visited all three…read morefor various reasons over the years. Round back is Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, where I had physical therapy after tearing my adductor and later got a consult and surgery referral for a ganglion cyst. The entrance closest to the Renaissance Center's Nordstrom Rack is the main clinic for your general health concerns, and the entrance closest Fayetteville Rd. is Durham Radiology Associates. I hadn't seen a primary care physician in the better part of a decade, but when I started showing symptoms of hypothyroidism---namely: chronic fatigue, muscle aches and joint pains, unexplainable weight gain (we're talking forty pounds in eighteen months), plus shortness of breath with only moderate exertion, occasional difficulty swallowing, and a choking feeling when I lay on my back---I decided it was time to go. My new doctor identified a nodule on the left lobe of my thyroid, and immediately referred me to Durham Radiology Associates for a thyroid ultrasound. I checked in online via the Duke Healthview portal---which allows you to complete all of your paperwork and even pay your copay (if applicable) in advance of your visit---waited fifteen minutes, then headed back for the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was very welcoming and cracked some truly funny jokes to ease the tension. She was also professional and knowledgeable and explained everything she was doing, including warning me when something would feel uncomfortable. Despite having to lie there with my neck hyperextended and feeling a tad like I was being strangled, the bed was actually pretty damn cushy and comfy. As gentle as the tech was, I felt pain in the left side of my neck when she moved the transducer over the area. It was then that I started to panic just a tad, but I think the tech could tell, and calmly reminded me to stay still, and that we would be done soon. After the procedure, she gave me towels to wipe the lubricating gel off my neck, and checked in with a physician on-site to ensure that the images she captured would work. Then I was free to go. On the wall there is a sign that says u/s technicians are not permitted to give out information regarding what they see on the u/s until it has been read by one radiologist and verified by a second. I had my results just five hours later (got them via iPhone while at the All about Beer CMYE, in fact): a cold, solid nodule on my left thyroid lobe with multiple macro- and microcalcifications, as well as increased bloodflow to the area, all of which greatly increase the concern for malignancy. Within a few days I was in with one of the top endocrinologists at Duke. While this has all been quite a shock, I feel that I am in the best possible hands with Duke's Medicine, Radiology, and Surgery departments. I am grateful for everyone's exceptional interdepartmental communication and their ability to get all results to me so unbelievably quickly. They employ only the most skilled professionals, all of whom truly go above and beyond. UPDATE: Got the results from my fine need aspiration (FNA) biopsy and I DO NOT have cancer. HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! My endos are not sure why I'm symptomatic, since my thyroid is producing TSH in normal amounts, but for now I'm just thanking my lucky stars that it ain't the Big C. For the record, a cancer scare is about ten thousand times more terrifying than an undergrad pregnancy scare. Yikes!

I was sent an easy to follow link to preregister as required. Typical questions regarding Covid, medical history and insurance coverage. They accept Cigna if you're wondering. Location is conveniently right of Lake Boone Trail near Rex Hospital. Plenty of safe parking spaces in their dedicated lot. I arrived 15 minutes early, was given a medical grade mask instead of the cloth one I wore in. Hand sanitizer available in waiting room. Chairs are somewhat spread out but few people in waiting room. I was called back on time as scheduled and was finished within five minutes! Painless, quick and 3D is a powerful tool for detecting changes in breast tissue. First one was a power outage that had happened early in the morning. My appointment was at 3pm. They did't expect to get power back until the next day. When I arrived after almost an hour ride I was greated with " Nobody called to tell you?" No nobody called to tell me or I wouldn't have driven almost an hour to get here and paid for a sitter. The second was at the same location where the radiologist insisted on contrast which I am highly allergic to even though my Dr. had ordered it without contrast. The radiologist refused to do it without contrast. Corporate did call me later that afternoon and apologized. Another two hours of my time wasted including wasted gas and sitter money. The third time was at the new location at 120 Banks Dr. in Chapel Hill. Another hour drive to get there and I arrive and the woman at the desk says " Didn't they call and cancel your appointment?? We don't do that type of imaging here". Altogether I wasted six hours of my time, at least $40 in gas and almost $100 for the sitter.

However, Samantha Rosario NP was very unkind to me. She did not relay to me or write down when I asked her to write down how to take the new medication for seizures and for migraines after that, I had a couple of Tele video visit while I was telling her what the problem was. She sounded like she was upset with me and did not talk to me in a correct voice. she had no bedside manners while talking with her and stating the problems that I was having with my migraines, she had the nerve to tell me well you're not supposed to be taking all of this as we talked and discussed about earlier. I mention that she did not write down the information. After that situation one thing that does get me is that when she changed my new seizure medication I had indicated and stated to her that I have to drive. I have to go to work and I have to take care of my father and I had told her that the medicine that was new was not working for me. She told me and said well you're not taking it properly. I told her still it is not working for me. I listen to what she said, and I took it when I asked her. How can I drive to go to work? She ended up telling me well you need to find somebody else to take you to work. I had stated to her I do not have anyone to take me to work. I have to go to work and I have to take care of my dad and my husband and my partner. She did not tell me how to take care of this situation so I went back to my regular medicine which she was not listening to. What I wanted to tell her was well are you going to take me to work and what should I do about work. When you have a job and your seizure, medication works first of all you do not need to let your Job know this that is up to your own discretion my seizure medicine even though it cost me having cyst, acne and rosacea on my face my seizure medicine still worked! My opinion is not to see her! I do want to state that Doctor William Farrell who is my seizure and my migraine doctor is the best doctor and I would also like to stay once again Olivia from triage the nurse she will listen to you and she is very very kind and very respectful and she has bedside manners and she can type very very fast. She was very amazing and very helpful and she cares about the patient. I do recommend everybody to ask for Olivia from triage if you have any questions, she will help you and guide you. She cares about her patience once again she is an amazing person! I also hope she gets a raise too!

Unlike other practitioners he is the only one doing my procedures the continuity of care is not just reassuring its often paramount that Dr knows patient as more than just a medical record since he fully examined he unlike others I had full confidence in his care.
