My doctor recommended an MRI due to some polyps so he referred me here. It was not cheap, even with insurance, but at the time I was able to pay the deductible with no problem. The office is in a rather nondescript building in South Durham. I was a little bit surprised that the MRI machine is actually outside the main building in a trailer; they even lifted me up like I was on a loading dock. The staff were polite and the procedure went well, although I never got notification of my results (had to call my doctor's office and bug them). read more

Had an MRI scheduled here at the suggestion of my insurance since it was more affordable compared to Duke and there was co-insurance I needed to pay. My first time here and the entire procedure went very smoothly from check-in to MRI. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. They explained the entire procedure, secured my belongings and proceeded to the MRI. I was as comfortable as I could get and after about 30 minutes it was over. The MRI report was sent to Duke prior to my follow up appointment though I am not sure the images were transferred which could be the only downside of going outside the Duke system. read more

Had a mammogram here. It was easy to schedule and park. Waiting room is narrow and everyone waiting hears the other patients checking in due to the narrow space, which I'm not a fan of. I had to do part of the check-in on paper vs iPad because I do not consent to be seen by a student or serve as teaching porn and needed to note that and cross out/annotate related clauses. Front desk staff were uncomfortable and gossipy about it, but did give me the forms. The mammogram itself was fine and the tech was clearly very competent. Since the visit was preventative and covered my insurance, I cannot speak to their billing which a lot of people mentioned in reviews as being problematic. read more

Had a mammogram on 12/1/21 and as of today, 12/22/21, I have still not received my results. My primary care physician said this is totally unacceptable to be anxiously awaiting results for this long. The receptionist was rude and unhelpful. I'll never be seen there again. read more

There are three main entrances to Duke Health Center at Southpoint, and I've now visited all three for various reasons over the years. Round back is Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, where I had physical therapy after tearing my adductor and later got a consult and surgery referral for a ganglion cyst. The entrance closest to the Renaissance Center's Nordstrom Rack is the main clinic for your general health concerns, and the entrance closest Fayetteville Rd. is Durham Radiology Associates. I hadn't seen a primary care physician in the better part of a decade, but when I started showing symptoms of hypothyroidism---namely: chronic fatigue, muscle aches and joint pains, unexplainable weight gain (we're talking forty pounds in eighteen months), plus shortness of breath with only moderate exertion, occasional difficulty swallowing, and a choking feeling when I lay on my back---I decided it was time to go. My new doctor identified a nodule on the left lobe of my thyroid, and immediately referred me to Durham Radiology Associates for a thyroid ultrasound. I checked in online via the Duke Healthview portal---which allows you to complete all of your paperwork and even pay your copay (if applicable) in advance of your visit---waited fifteen minutes, then headed back for the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was very welcoming and cracked some truly funny jokes to ease the tension. She was also professional and knowledgeable and explained everything she was doing, including warning me when something would feel uncomfortable. Despite having to lie there with my neck hyperextended and feeling a tad like I was being strangled, the bed was actually pretty damn cushy and comfy. As gentle as the tech was, I felt pain in the left side of my neck when she moved the transducer over the area. It was then that I started to panic just a tad, but I think the tech could tell, and calmly reminded me to stay still, and that we would be done soon. After the procedure, she gave me towels to wipe the lubricating gel off my neck, and checked in with a physician on-site to ensure that the images she captured would work. Then I was free to go. On the wall there is a sign that says u/s technicians are not permitted to give out information regarding what they see on the u/s until it has been read by one radiologist and verified by a second. I had my results just five hours later (got them via iPhone while at the All about Beer CMYE, in fact): a cold, solid nodule on my left thyroid lobe with multiple macro- and microcalcifications, as well as increased bloodflow to the area, all of which greatly increase the concern for malignancy. Within a few days I was in with one of the top endocrinologists at Duke. While this has all been quite a shock, I feel that I am in the best possible hands with Duke's Medicine, Radiology, and Surgery departments. I am grateful for everyone's exceptional interdepartmental communication and their ability to get all results to me so unbelievably quickly. They employ only the most skilled professionals, all of whom truly go above and beyond. UPDATE: Got the results from my fine need aspiration (FNA) biopsy and I DO NOT have cancer. HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! My endos are not sure why I'm symptomatic, since my thyroid is producing TSH in normal amounts, but for now I'm just thanking my lucky stars that it ain't the Big C. For the record, a cancer scare is about ten thousand times more terrifying than an undergrad pregnancy scare. Yikes! read more

This is the best mammogram experience I've ever had. They made an appointment quickly at a time suitable for me. I was in and out within 35 minutes. In contrast I've been at Duke and other hospitals for several hours as they pondered and thought about my results. The tech, Meredith, was excellent and gentle. read more

Same experience as others. Had service done in August of 2016. Received and paid bills through Duke labeled as "Durham Radiology Associates". Over a year later, I get contacted by a collection agency about paying money that is owed to Durham Radiology. I never received a bill from them. They claim they tried contacting me via a robocall, which they may have. I do not answer any type of robocall; if a person does not respond when I say hello, I hang up. If you have an issue with me, at least have the courtesy to speak to me in person. I will not use them or Duke Regional in Durham again. read more

Worst experience in my life with office staff here. Needed imaging that required drinking 32 oz. of water before my appointment. Arrived to my appointment on time and signed paper work already completed by my doctor's office through a referral. Was presented a bill for over $400, which I knew was incorrect based on my insurance plan. After back and forth with one office representative, she said I could step to the side to speak with my insurance company (flag #1 - had to do their work for them). I called my insurance company, and they told me I didn't owe ANYTHING for the service. Within two minutes, I went back to the office window, and that representative was gone. I asked another representative where she went, and was told she went to lunch - (flag #2 that my time was not respected). The second representative offered to help me. I had to catch rep #2 up to speed, as I tried to reiterate what my insurance company told me. She finally shared that the new pricing was $0, as I tried to tell their staff for the past twenty-plus minutes. Then (the last straw), she told me after so much time had passed, I would need to reschedule, because I wouldn't be able to be seen today, after they inconvenienced me with their screw up over the insurance. They had a full schedule for the afternoon, and all technicians were with someone else. Techs couldn't be disturbed while with other patients, so she couldn't go ask to squeeze me in until another 15 minutes had passed (which would be 45 minutes into my appointment, all while I STILL had a full bladder). Who was I supposed to be seeing at that time with an appointment-only practice? DO NOT COME HERE. read more

I am in complete disbelief of how this company is still allowed to practice. I have read multiple reviews and complaints about this company doing the exact same thing they did to me. I had some testing done at Duke Regional Hospital and got/paid my bills from them. Apparently Durham Radiology reads the results and "bills" separately- I put the quotation marks to indicated that they claim to send bills but I never received a single bill, notice, statement, nor a phone call from this company. I had never even heard of them so when I got a call from a collections agency referencing them it sounded like a scam! Then I got a letter in the mail and followed up, that's when I found the other complaints. I was never seen at nor had I heard of "Durham Radiology" and I think it's completely bogus that they sent my account that I didn't even know existed to a collections agency for a mere $34!! I had just got done settling up thousands of dollars with Duke Regional, I would never have let my credit score be negatively affected by a mere $34!!! read more
