I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for Trangle Family Practice. I hope things improve for those patients. Speaking for myself, after 2-3 years, the arrival wait time has improved and the wait time once you are placed in an exam room has improved. There have been times when I sensed that the doctor might be a bit rushed but I never left feeling that I was not heard or treated appropriately. My doctor - Dr. Delgado - gives me the impression that she cares about her patients. I share one person's comments about MyChart in that it is mostly a one-sided tool. When information is felt to be incorrect or bothersome, there is no automatic way for patients to resolve that without making phone calls that noone has time for or confronting the doctor or staff which can be awkward or uncomfortable. This can be bad if you need an answer right away. I have several doctors and staff taking care of me and in spite of the challenge they must face in keeping current with care from each other, test results tell me they are doing a good job. If I could rate this place 0/5 stars, I would. I have been a patient at this clinic for more than 10 years, but in the past 2-3 years, the clinic has been poorly managed, from the leadership down to the employees. I scheduled an appointment and arrived 20 minutes early, but I waited in the lobby for more than two hours without being called to see the doctor. I called the nurse to explain what happened, but somehow she wrote a false statement claiming that I REFUSED to be seen. I was then billed by the hospital as if the doctor had seen me. read more

I've never reported a doctor...until coming in contact with this practice. I had a telehealth appointment to ask for a simple/routine antibiotic and the female doctor yelled at me for scheduling a telehealth appointment. Never once was she sympathetic or helpful. Never again. read more

Interested to see so many unfavorable reviews. The doctors at this practice try hard to provide good care, but there seems to be quite a bit of turnover. I expect their working conditions are bad. And if your assigned primary doctor leaves, you will become a "new" patient (I did, after 30+ years with the practice), but no one is accepting new patients. So you are just plain out of luck--you won't have any doctor at all. There is no respect or concern at all for the patient's needs, sometimes not even basic courtesy. This emanates from the administrative staff, not the doctors. Run, don't walk, to some place where you will be treated with consideration and respect. Triangle Family Practice is NOT IT. read more

Triangle Family Practice used to be really good, but over the last few years their service has gone way down. My doctor (who was really good) recently left the practice and I've been in the process of transferring over to a new one. During this time my blood pressure medication needed to be renewed. So far, I've been trying to get it renewed for 11 days without success. They said I needed to see a doctor again, so I made an appointment. But, the first available appointment was a week after I ran out. So, I tried to get enough to cover that time. Then the doctor had to push back the appointment to 2 weeks after I ran out. So, far I've called 3 times and requested online twice and NO ONE AT ALL seems to actually be able or even want to help. So, if you actually want medical care, you might consider going elsewhere. Not sure where, but it doesn't look like you can get help here. read more

Horrible, just horrible. I have an autistic adult son who had an appointment at 4:10 - the last anointment of the day. He was 16 minutes late, due to traffic. They refused to see him. I was there waiting for him and told them he was close and running late. When he arrived the receptionist said no - he was late. I explained the situation and asked her to please check that he could be seen because it is extremely had for him to take off work. With "attitude" the receptionist went back to ask and came back and said no. I had to go out in the parking lot to calm my son who was standing there hitting himself because he was late (due to no fault of his own.) The great irony is that they tell you to come in 15 minutes before your appointment so that you can sit and wait. But if the tables are turned they say absolutely no. It was just horrible. Even though there are a lot of doctors here, you should still expect a wait -- a wait to check in, and then a wait after you fill out their forms. Speaking of, be prepared to have a mini crisis of self as you take the new patient questionnaire: "What are your interests and hobbies?" :What ARE my interests? Reading... that's so generic. Piano? But I hardly ever play anymore. God, I've never been any good at sports -- are they going to think my lifestyle is too inactive?!?: Once that dilemma is over, remind yourself that you are an interesting, talented individual, and refine yourself to a couch; of course, if you have the flu, make sure you use your assigned quarantine corner. It wasn't too long of a wait before I met with a very nice nurse practitioner who checked my vitals, heard my case, and wrote my prescription. Not a bad experience. Recommended for general health needs. read more

Dr. Chetty, Courtney Wittleder, NP, staff and nurses are absolutely wonderful. Maybe I am lucky, but I seldom have to wait long after check in. They are very caring and listen to me about what's going on. Then we make a plan how to best help me. I have been suffering from a severe cervical spine injury from a fall January 4, 2018 and they have been the only ones to provide care up until getting away from emergeortho transferring to UNC Pain clinic. My doctors are now working with what I consider to be the best pain clinic in North Carolina. God bless Triangle family. read more

I am sorry to say this practice continues to fail to provide good medical care. I had an appointment on a Friday with a newer Dr. I was pleasantly surprised at the visit that I didn't have to wait an hour or longer, so I had some hope. I thought maybe these people had finally learned some efficiency. I had a number of tests run through bloodwork. By Monday afternoon everything was showing in MyChart - the dumping ground for patient information so the Drs. don't have to talk to you. I had multiple results showing with flags. Naturally I found this concerning. I did everything I could to research the various results with google searches, but obviously I needed a medical explanation. I called and left 3 messages requesting information from my Dr for two days to finally learn - "oh she's on vacation". Are you kidding me? What did she expect? I am supposed to sit around and wait until she gets back and finds time to read my results regardless of what they might be. I was also told another Dr would call in her place to talk to me. Still haven't heard from anyone. What do I have to do to get some help?????? read more

The only reason I am leaving one star is because the receptionist was very friendly and very apologetic. I live over an hour away and was supposed to have an appointment today. Upon arrival, I was informed that the provider I was scheduled with was unable to see me because she had to leave early. I work in healthcare and I understand 100% that things like this happen....but at my office, other providers would step in and see the patients. Apparently that isn't an option here. Maybe the office I work for just goes above and beyond...or maybe this one just doesn't really care about their patients. My time is just as valuable as yours. And you just wasted hours of my day off. Thank you, but I will be scheduling an appointment elsewhere. read more

I've been a loyal patient at TFP since 2000 when I moved to Durham. I can honestly say that effective today (after the rudeness I just experienced) that am transferring my records to an alternate primary care physician office. I've lost count of how many times this facility has frustrated me or the office staff has been disgruntled. I've looked over the extensive wait times on many occassions. I even let it go the last time I waited 45 minutes, only to find out they had mistakingly roomed another patient with my same name and were going over my records with her. When you'd rather pay extra AND wait for urgent care than go to your primary care office, it's time to change. read more

I went to this practice when I suspected I had mono. The doctor did not do any examination or even feel my glands before he said it was just a virus and would pass in a couple days. They charged $355.50 for this visit. I then went to urgent care where they actually did a CBC and said I really needed to see my doctor when they got the results. So I went back and was eventually diagnosed with mono. For this second visit which would not have been necessary had the doctor done any testing the first time, they charged $388.00. Before I had even received these bills, I had another appointment to treat a wart on my finger (which is still there). I waited over an hour in the exam room for a visit that took less than 10 minutes. And for this they charged $334.00. The doctor was extremely late every time, he failed to make an easy diagnosis, and they ripped me off for each visit. I literally would have been better off not seeing anyone at all. read more

Terrible practice!!! Had an appointment and called to say I was running a little late and was told they had a 20 min grace period and as long as I could get there in that time I would be seen. I arrived there within the time frame and was informed that the doctor (Jennifer Turnbull) was informed I was running a little late and had already decided and informed the front no matter what time I came in she would not see me and she moved on to the next patient who was schedule 20 min after my appt time. Not only did they not call back so that I did not drive all the way over to the practice, but the woman checking people in and the manager were extremely unhelpful, rude and downright distasteful. read more

Triangle Family Medicine has a bad reputation with local pharmacies of not responding to refill requests. My pharmacist sent 4 requests in 4 days with no response. My pharmacist said this is a normal response to their refill inquiries to TFM The patient is forced to call the triage nurse and wait for 30 minutes listening to horrible Musac instead of receiving information via fax from my pharmacy. If they don't respond to inquires x4 from my RPh, I surely don't have confidence they will respond to any voice mail I leave. I was suffering with a migraine they act like they are dispensing M&Ms. Why can't Triangle Family Medicine respond to my pharmacy's faxes and inquiries? They said it was due to high volume.....for 4 days running ???? The RPhs can't wait in the phone for 30 minutes either. Why are we forced to wait 30 minutes on the phone when my pharmacist's fax request us so much more safe, concise, timely, and accurate. Surely a Duke administrator could get a professional hired that could handle refill requests sent to Triangle Family Medicine and teach them how to use a fax machine, you know faxes have been used for a while for this purpose. read more

Great practice, they have early appointments frequently so I can go in before work. Online portal through Duke and don't have to wait forever for appointments. My doctor is great too. Never had an issue. read more

A coworker recommended Triangle Family Practice for primary care, but I was extremely disappointed by my experience and will never return. I had a new patient appointment and because I hadn't been to a primary care physician in years I had a few things to talk about: I needed an inhaler refill, thought I had ringworm, and had questions about potentially having ADD. I met with Courtney Wittleder, who sat far away from me and asked questions about my ringworm, but did not ask to see it until I asked (a while into the appointment) if I could show it to her to get her opinion. She did not put on any gloves or even lean towards me, so I don't know how in the world she was able to agree that it was ringworm, but she said it probably was and to just continue doing what I'd been doing to fix it. When I told her about my struggles with (possible) ADD, she gave me an anxiety screening. When I handed the form back to her she said something along the lines of, "Well that's clearly not the problem." I hadn't described any anxious feelings, so I don't know why she gave the screening to me in the first place. She said that I might have ADD, but that I'd need to make an appointment with a psychologist. She said she would be mailing me a packet with the names of some psychologists, and that I would need to call them to see who was covered under my insurance and that I should then set up an appointment. She said it would take a few weeks for me to get the packet in the mail. I still have not gotten said packet (it's July) and my appointment was in the beginning of April. I left my appointment feeling like I had just wasted valuable time and money and was fully reminded about why I stopped going to the doctor to begin with. I know it's important to go, but Courtney did not make me want to go back anytime soon. To top things off, Triangle Family Practice filed the appointment incorrectly with my insurance, who billed me an insane amount of money and I had to go through a long process to correct it. If you get sick, this is a good place to go. I've been going here for a long time and through several change of GP's. I think they have about 10 different doctors at any given time on staff. I used to always make a point to see the same doctor, but these days I just take whoever has the next available appointment. I've been pleasantly surprised by how nice all their doctors are and how they do a great job of taking care of my concerns and getting me patched up and on my way. Also, being part of the Duke Health Network, you can get your lab results and stuff online now, which helps to speed things up. read more

Enjoy getting taken advantage of. They will ignore any and all requests to avoid sending payment to your insurance company until after you have had a chance to go over them. If you have insurance DO NOT TELL THEM. They will literally quadruple the charges for everything, just cause. "Need x-rays? We think that costs.... 500 dollars! Yep. Why? Because we said so!" Then before you know it, it's all sent to your insurance company to be applied to your deductible. Jeeze, I had expected to pay 150 dollars MAX to get my shoulder looked at. Anyway once this happens, you're screwed 100% as Triangle Family Practice is bound by statute of limitations not to work with your on the price since it's applied to your deductible. I racked up 5K in debt and got literally nothing tangible. They didn't help me, they didn't give me anything. I didn't even get a Rx. YES REALLY. Go elsewhere for the love of God or pick a urgent care. They don't rip you off and try to ruin your life padding their gross pockets. If you DO have good benefits and somehow this stupid place of robbing everyone who walks in the door accepts them, I'm sure it's a nice place. As an educated, cost-conscious person, I ask Triangle Family Practice "to what end? You are a vacuous drain on the economy and you know it, not that I expect you all to have any compassion on your way to the bank to pick up your absurd paychecks." However one thing I can guarantee. They will never see a penny of what I owe them. I've already seen a 830 credit score just long enough to get my house, and I'll never borrow a dime again, just to punish you awful people. read more

If you have an appointment and arrive on time you will see a doctor soon and even if you walk in your wait time will not be very bad if you really need to see a doctor. Terrible experience with this practice. First, I go in for hives. They put me on prednisone. It works. 3 weeks later, I go back for a followup/physical. They run labs and are suddenly worried I'm diabetic because of a slightly elevated random glucose. a) Random, nonfasting glucose of 91 is not a diagnostic criteria for diabetes, and b) I JUST CAME OFF A FUCKING CORTICOID STEROID, YOU SHOULD EXPECT ELEVATED TRIGLYCERIDES AND FASTING GLUCOSE FOR A MONTH. Next, they lied to me about my insurance coverage and took 6 months to clarify what I actually owed, which was $117 higher than they predicted back in February. I'm a Graduate student, so an unexpected bill like this is a major burden. But hey, I have yet to see a doctor here and have them stick around for longer than a year, so maybe they have replaced all their staff and aren't so pathetic anymore. But I doubt it, recommend going elsewhere. read more

The staff never return phone calls. They were quick to schedule my initial visit, which was great, and they were quick to call and cancel a followup appointment but never contacted me back regarding a referral. I saw someone who wanted to refer me to Duke Neurology but I did some research and wanted to be referred to the headache clinic. I never heard back about referring me to the clinic. Needless to say, I will finding a new practice. read more

I had a pelvic check up in Summer 2018. I felt ambushed as a first time pelvic exam patient when all of a sudden I was asked by Vanessa Chetty if a medical student could do the exam. I was asked after I had been prepped for the exam by the nurse and while the medical student was standing there. The exam was rushed. I felt the experience would have been better with someone who was better at relaxing patients in these type of exams--maybe go see a doctor whose specialty is in that area. I would not suggest that patients get pelvic exams at Triangle Family Practice Durham NC. For basic check ups & getting blood drawn, it's okay. In the future, I would suggest that this practice institute a policy of not having medical students in at all for first time pelvic exams. For any other exams I would suggest asking patients while they are in the waiting area if they mind a student doing exams--I know that other practices do this. It's summer again and medical students are doing their rounds, so please take that into account in making your appointment. read more

I have been going to Triangle Family Practice for over 10 years and I am very happy with my PCP. He takes time to listen to my concerns and I do not feel rushed like I have at some other practices. I am almost always able to see my PCP when I am sick, which is very important to me, too. Since starting at Triangle Family Practice, I have moved out of Durham but I did not change practices because I am satisfied there, which is not so easy to find! read more

We moved from Carrboro to Durham, NC recently for a couple of reasons, one being that I wanted to have my knee surgery done by Michael Bolognesi, MD. Leaving the UNC system was difficult for me however, I had a great primary care physician. When it was suggested that I should try Carlos Sortolongo, MD at The Triangle Family Practice who was in the Duke Health System, I made an appointment and went prepared to be critical. It was a great experience (well it was a doctor's visit and I do have a little of the "white coat" syndrome) that has continued now for well over a year. Unfortunately I am one of those who needs more than the average person does in health care matters. My first impression was great. Helpful and friendly office staff, incredibly competent professional team and a doctor, who I found to be a great listener, thorough diagnostician and who is clear and concise in his communication with me. I couldn't be happier. I no longer miss the UNC health system. read more

I've been a patient at TFP for a decade. I was recently exposed to the flu by my daughter. Her pediatrician recommended that, if I developed symptoms, I call my doctor and request an RX for Tamiflu called in. I woke up with body aches and a fever this morning so I called TFP first thing to explain the situation and request the RX. The person I talked to told me she would talk to my doctor and either call back with more questions or the RX would be called in. Seven hours later, I still hadn't heard a word, so I followed up. After getting passed around, I'm told that my doctor responded this morning that he needed to see me for an appointment today. Only no one bothered to call me back and tell me that. So, now it's the end of the day and I am stuck with no appointment and no Tamiflu. This is unacceptable and I will not be returning to TFP again. read more

The Triangle Family Practice has terrible customer service. Yes, patients are not meat, but people. The doctor became very disengaged after the first visit. No context for blood test or x-rays, the doctor ignores DukeMychart questions as well as the staff ignores DukeMychart questions or requests. The doctor should be a researcher, as he has absolutely no bed-side manner and he is unable to see a person holistically. Don't go here! read more

Has having chest pains on 1/3/14 and drove myself to the practice. I went to the front desk and told the lady I thought that I might be having a heart attack. I was told that there were no appointments available with my Dr. or any of the other Drs and that I would have to make an appointment for another day. One nurse was kind enough to take me into a pvt room and call an ambulance for me. Come to find out I was having a heart attack and was hospitalized for 3 day. I am just shocked that my Dr didn't have the time to at least stick her head in the room to check on me. Appointment or no appointment if you're having a heart attack that trumps someone there with a cold.....Needless to say I will be choosing another Dr. read more

Showed up for my 8:30 lab appointment and waited only to be told that I couldn't have my labs drawn until I saw the doctor first. I thought maybe I missed an email with this info or on my duke chart. Very disappointed and annoyed with Jennifer Turnbull. Had SLIGHTLY elevated white blood cell count and she sent me to the Durham Cancer Clinic to have a consultation. I had to wait 3 months for that appointment, during which time I was absolutely scared senseless. In the meantime, I called Turnbull to ask her if I could come back in to her office and have another blood test a couple of weeks or so BEFORE I went to the specialist, to save some money. She said NO. I went to the specialist, my blood cell count was perfectly normal, but it cost me out of pocket almost $600.00. Also, turns out that DukeMyChart only details SOME things. For instance, they have that I called Turnbull and that she returned call on a certain date, but NOT what was discussed. I mean, why even bother? read more

Really despicable. I have been going to this place Since before kindergarten and so all my medical records are there. On my last visit there they said they couldn't find my shot records, that I didn't have any....really? My mom told me not to worry because it was probably because everything is online now and my records were probably on paper. Fine. So two weeks ago I go and turn in my immunization forms to be filled out for university..and the receptionist was rude with a capital R by the way and I got the same receptionist when I called today to see if I could pick up the forms, she said that they haven't even started it yet and I turned it in TWO WEEKS AGO. The policy is 10 work days.. hmm let me think..its been 11! god awful. never had a problem until today! read more

I have been going to this Doctors office over 10 years. Doctors are very good but the new staff which was changed really behaves with carelessness, browse phones while dealing with customers especially on phones. Recently the service from the nurses and administration has become very very worst. They don't really tell the actual waiting time. Nurses are supposed to know how much time their doctor sees the patient, the appointments should be setup in that order. Appointment setup staff screwed my appointment timing and literally had to wait in the lobby for Hour and half, then taken inside and waited another 45 minutes to see the doctor. They display a board in the waiting area to write doctors waiting times, But nurses don't write there on the boards: what do you call this? Why should they setup too many appointments. Offcourse they are affiliated with Duke university, so who cares. they are an other service providers thats it. I'll not recommend Duke affiliated physicians to anyone in my life, soon i'll change my doctors too. read more
