Will not be going back to this practice. Very impersonal, nurses are rude and not helpful when calling with medical questions.

Why give appoints you don't even go by them. I am up at 5 to leave at 6 to be there at 845 for the 9am and wait until 11 to be taken for blood. It's a Good thing the nurse's are so caring. I would also say that inside the chemo section they should have a guest bathroom so that and injured companion does not have to limp outside then go to the guest check in desk to ask for the door to be opened. I have seen to many really sick people explode there for being forgotten.

WARNING - Deceptive Billing Practices!…read more Be advised, although this building looks and operates like a normal clinic and has an unsuspecting-sounding name, there is a good chance your visit will be treated as a hospital visit, and you will be charged accordingly. I was scheduled for a routine, non-invasive imaging procedure at this visit. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Although I had a similar procedure done elsewhere covered by my specialist co-pay, at this clinic it was billed as hospital services and the bill was over 20x more expensive. I was not told ahead of time that the procedure could be billed differently nor that visits would be coded as a hospital visit instead of an ordinary specialist visit. When I explained my frustration and concern, I was told that it was my responsibility to know how much my visit and procedures would cost ahead of time, even though this information was never provided to me, and I never signed a consent form. When my wife went for a procedure recently we tried to learn from this lesson and get billing information ahead of time but the billing department was slow to respond and eventually told us it wasn't their job to provide this information prior to a visit. So, long story short, if you don't want to be slapped with a massive surprise medical bill, figure out the costs ahead of time on your own, but don't expect Duke to help you figure out the costs ahead of time. My Duke providers have all been excellent, but unfortunately, the subversive billing practices make them an untrustworthy provider. I'm not suggesting everything be cheap or free. I'm just asking to be treated like a human by the people who claim that they care about my health and well-being. At UNC/Rex, we've always been warned when a procedure or visit might incur a more expensive charge, and offered help proactively. You won't get any courtesy like that from Duke, before or after the fact.

She has kind of a bad attitude and when we have seen her we'd have to come back in for the same problem. Actually one time I mentioned it her and she got defensive and then proceeded to go through every visit in the chart and then talk over me. Rude. So anyway, we just don't see her anymore. We've never had a problem scheduling a visit, often they can get us in the same day. When we had a more serious issue they were very helpful with coordinating with Duke Hospital. The only problem with the Highgate office is finding it. If you're coming from 54 it's the first building on the left when you pull in. The office is at the far end on the same side as the parking lot.

My wife just had the most awful visit with Dr. Gagliano. After an exhausting weekend for us and our 3 yr old with potty training struggles, an ER visit, and a cold, we scheduled an appointment to get some insight and help with our current situation. Ms. Gagliano happened to walk into the room during a less than stellar disciplinary moment between my wife and son. It wasn't a complete meltdown, but being exhausted himself, he expressed it in a way that all 3 yr olds would. When my wife stood to talk to Ms. Gagliano, she interrupted her and said "I'm just going to go ahead and stop you right there. We need to do this again. You just gave him complete control." Okay fine, lady, but my wife was not there for disciplinary advice. Gagliano based her perception of my wife as a parent, and my son as a child, off of this one episode, and be assured that this was the tone of the rest of the appointment. The entire time, she was passive aggressive, condescending, and patronizing to my wife. When our second child was born, we had the misfortune of seeing Gagliano in the hospital for one of the check-ups. Our daughter was three weeks early and small. She tossed her around like a rag doll, and her "consolation" to my daughter's cries were "oh I know, love. I'm sorry, love" and they were as aloof and patronizing as you could imagine. I know she sees babies day in and day out, but in respect to parents, she could at least pretend to care about them. She even was condescending to my wife about how well our daughter was breastfeeding, and was quite rude and dismissive about it. I hoped at that point never to see her again, but my son needed to be seen today, so we did what we had to do. I don't have enough time to go into detail about how horrible she was to my wife throughout the entire appointment, but I'm completely confident that this wouldn't have been the first time dissatisfaction has been expressed concerning Gagliano. Please understand that the words I have used thus far to describe Ms. Gagliano and today's appointment are in no way exaggerations. In recent months, we have had several disappointing experiences on the phone when scheduling appointments, which have caused us to consider switching practices. We will in fact be switching practices, but any scheduling issues are now non-issues compared to the problem of Ms. Gagliano. We will not be back to Durham Pediatrics, and it is 100% because of Dr. Gagliano.

He did everything in his power to try the most outlandish, idiotic treatments possible. Buprenorphine patches that gave me bowel impactions that sent me to the ER four times in 6 weeks. I listened to him on the peer to peer call with my insurance company to get authorization for Movantik.....a drunken sailor could have done a better appeal. It was so bad I had to dk MY OWN appeal to get Movantic approved. The impactions were so bad i nearly perforated my bowel. Claimed it "wasnt his problem" . Ever heard of whole body lidocaine infusions? Yeah, he likes those. Even set my IV without gloves before i even caught it. (I look away, fear of needles) then he lied about it when confronted, i asked him to provide the used pair of gloves, i was first in that room and the trashcan only had the alcohol swab and the needle used to set the IV. No used gloves to be found. That is pure negligence. It became evident that opiates were needed as we progressed, but he refused. I was on a benzo at the time, said it was "against the law" to co-prescribe (it isnt. Just calls for more careful observation). I offered to drop the benzos, no dice. But I tell you, i was offered that 450$ cash Ketamine infusion at least three to four times every weekly visit. I was already on Spravato (nasal Esketamine) at the time, but he still recommended twice weekly ketamine infusions , and of course it being "experimental therapy " was not covered by insurance, so this Dr. Wannabe wanted me to pay 900$ a WEEK for ketamine. We tried low dose naltrexone. I literally had to make it myself. I had to dissolve the tablets in distilled water, and basically act as my own compounding pharmacy. I can not stress enough what a terrible place this is. 90% of the staff believe they can walk on water and that their own feces smells of lilac and rose hips. Dr. Wannuva also accused me of testing positive for alcohol use. I literally can't drink alcohol due to my heart condition, i run a higher risk of having a third Sudden Cardiac Death (ive had two) . He played reindeer games while I suffered from Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia (which he said was in my head), three ruptured/bulging discs in my lower lumbar, severe SI joint pain, a partially torn rotator cuff injury, psoriatic arthritis, and knees that required 5k worth of custom made braces so I could walk. I begged. I pleaded. I broke down into tears nearly every visit, begging for help. The last straw was the "virtual pain management therapy", where you sat in a room wearing a meta quest 2 and watched an hour of self help videos. I wasted six months on this Dr.Wannabe, and I truly beg you to look elsewhere. This man and his "clinic" are a joke. If you're looking for pain management, it isnt at this place. If you want to be ridiculed, treated like an idiot, given useless and incompetent treatment (for gods sake the man set my IV with no gloves for a lidocaine infusion!) then don't say you weren't warned when he pushes ketamine and Esketamine (spravato) because its all about the money. Plus his bedside manner SUCKS. And his staff, save for a few kind souls, suck just like him. Please avoid Dr. Wannuva. There are much better places out there.
