Every Saturday I visit a different coffee shop, and this week I chose Wake Forest Coffee Company. Wake Forest Coffee Company is located in historic downtown Wake Forest on White Street. It's nestled in between many other shops on White. It's spacious with several tables and chairs, a great place to meet a friend, read a book or get some work done. They have outdoor seating as well. The service is great, everyone is friendly and excited to help. They have several options: coffee, teas, matcha, hot chocolate, smoothies, frappes and a variety of pastries. I ordered a Nutcracker Latte, hot and a pumpkin muffin. The Nutcracker was pretty good and the pumpkin muffin was excellent. I'll definitely go back and try other menu items! read more

Went in one afternoon and it was packed so I figured that was a good sign. Ordered my drink which was one of the baristas favorites (as noted on the board), but it was entirely too sweet - a pumpkin chai. It was a very popular drink though but confusing when going to pick it up as there were no names written on cups. It's a nice local coffee shop in the middle fo downtown. Friendly enough service. I ordered an iced chai and they added a little bit of cinnamon on top to give it a little extra spice. Pretty good flavor, one of the better ones I've had in North Carolina. The walls are covered with random paintings, I'm guessing from local artists. Downtown hangout spot with great coffee,tea and a small variety of bakery goodies. I'm not a coffee guy so will take my wife's word that the Iced Dirty Chai Latte is delicious. I'll attest that the strawberry banana smoothie is creamy, thick and sweet. Croissants are most,flaky amd delicious. Pro tip: They'll warm it up for you! The place in new-agey with pastries in the case so sinfult they are designed to tempt the devil (I said NO SATAN! - for now...). Not my favorite flavor for the brew (a tad bit bitter reminiscent of, but better than, Starbucks... YES BETTER than Starbucks, there I said it. NOT a Starbucks fan) itself, but it was so lovingly made and the service was so sweet, they are 10 star in my book. Downtown Wake Forest is waking from being an economically depressed area, but they still are missing some of the charm and personality that will come as merchants reinvent their businesses and it further awakens (OK, not everyone can be small town Hudson, MA voted 2022 best small town in America - yea I'm gloating again) - it is heading in the right direction and all these lovely establishments only add to the attraction of this little town with a big heart. The vibe and the people - come to the business for the vibe and the people. The coffee is good and you feel good consuming from small businesses that treat people as their cousins (the ones they like) with humility, charm and professional finess. Have the pastry I didn't. INDULGE (the patrons seemed most happy!). DANG! I want a pastry! (And with that it may bump up this review to a 5! The staff at this shop is amazing! They do great at keeping orders as timely as possible, and go out of the way to make sure that regulars like myself are known by name! Stopped in to have coffee and hot chocolate while walking around the city. The hot chocolate was extremely rich in flavor which was over the top and very strong. I had regular coffee and it was good. This is a cute niche coffee place but could do sooo much more. The coffee and service is pretty good. The also have a nice selection or teas and coffee. They hustle and do what needs to be done when they are super busy. But the ambiance is so blah though. It would cost nothing to throw up paint (its black chipped paint) and put a plant or two in there. I didn't know it had an upstairs till my brother told me it did. So I was excited to get a seat instead having to walk around town because all the seats are taken . Only to be in what looked like a huge dorm study room. Again, very blah and dreary. If you just want to grab a drink and go. Id highly recommend. But if you want to chat with a pal or hang out of 20 minutes Id skip. read more

My name is Val A. and the Wake Forest Coffee Company was a discovery for me to finally go in and try as it is a local coffee shop in the heart of downtown Wake Forest. I have lived here for 15 years + and had never been as I was skeptical of the location and also quality. I went in and the place was well seated and laid out, super nice Staff and Owner. The service and kindness were a massive improvement from going to a corporate Starbucks or chain coffee establishment. The quality of Latte, smoothies, and local bakery items was superb. Albert the owner is always working the coffee station and helping his staff and super kind, generous, and well-suited for ownership. When I visit the Beach I go to Casa Blanca Coffee, Edenton the Edenton Coffee Shop if you are visiting Wake Forest or just moved here The Wake Forest Coffee Company has what you desire. I stopped into this coffee shop while touring the town of wake forest. A similar lay out to many other coffee shops with friendly staff and unique offerings outside of what you would find in a coffee shop chain. I decided to purchase a strawberry and banana smoothie. They had quite an interesting selection of bakery goods and offered just about any cup of coffee you would expect to find in most coffee shops. It seemed to take longer than usual for a smoothie, but after receiving it I realized why it to longer than expected. The weight of this smoothie screamed sustenance, it was heavier and thicker than any smoothie I have purchased in chain like starbucks. The flavor was wonderful and the whipped cream on top made it that much better. I was a bit disappointed not to find any more causal seating, other than the two comfy chairs facing the windows. Ordered an ice latte and they accidentally make hot latte (which is not a problem accidents happen). When I asked the 1st girl who was making coffee the closest said "I'm not working here" with an attitude another girl said okay I will fix it for you then she pour hot latte in the cup of ice then add more ice and it was over flow got all over my shirt/shoes which I didn't notice until I got in the car. read more

This is a wake forest favorite. Been around for a long time and the home to many students who spent hours studying here. Coffee isn't incredible, but it's good coffee. The thing about this place that makes it such a treasure though is it's location, vibes, and hours. The interior is comfy, warm, and spacious. The second floor loft makes for a great studying space and the ground floor is excellent to gather around a table to have good conversations. The hours are great because they close later than most other places so if you want a late evening hang out spot that's not at a bar, this is the perfect place. If you enjoy a quaint coffee shop with a rather artsy scene and great coffee, this is the place! The prices were great and they were very friendly toward my husband and I and our dog. We sat outside and they even brought our pup some water. Service was excellent! Now for the food and coffee. I had a mocha latte and a banana nut muffin, and both were delicious. The muffin was big enough to split and and coffee tasted fresh! You really cannot go wrong here and I cannot wait to go back and try more menu items! Update! Would give 3.5 stars if I could. I really wanted to fall in love with this place! I'll start with the pros: more than enough space inside and out, along with a quiet upstairs art gallery with even more seating, the staff is super friendly, and the location is right in the heart of DT wake forest (we were able to walk from our Airbnb). Cons: I'm a huge coffee drinker and both iced coffees tasted super watered down and the flavors were barely there. Oddly enough they weren't that cold either so we spent some time shaking around our cups for the ice to make all the liquid cold. $12 for 2 large coffees. I'm all about supporting small businesses and know local coffee is more expensive than the chains, but this coffee for this price was just not worth it. This one "eh" experience won't stop me from coming back again for some hot coffee and seasonal drinks in the fall/winter. read more
