I ordered their BOGO Mochiko Chicken, mini plate via Uber Eats. I already forgot that it was significantly cheaper in-store than through Uber Eats. Nevertheless, we just got back home and we've been out of the country for three weeks and ordering online was the most convenient thing to do. Despite the higher price of their menu when purchased online, I think the deal was worth it this time. The Mochiko Chicken had the right crispiness on the outside and the meat was juicy inside. I always pass this place whenever I get my kimbap fix from Palama Supermarket but they were sold out so decided to try this place out and order my favorite Korean dish...Meat Jun. Looked over the menu and found a handwritten "Bento" sign located below the counter. Bento price is $7.50 except for the Meat Jun for $8.50. It comes with the main entree, 2 mandoo, 1 veggie and a scoop of rice...wow, good deal! Main entree choices are: Mochiko Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Chicken Katsu, Fried Shrimp, Fried Fish, Shrimp Tempura, Meat Jun or Musubi Combo. The veggie choices are: Choy Sum, Corn, Kim Chee, Shoyu Potato, Bean Sprouts or Japchae. You can substitute the rice for an extra veggie. I ordered the Meat Jun with Choy Sum. For $8.50, they gave a good amount of food which I enjoyed and had leftovers for another meal. The guy behind the counter was nice and service was fast. I would definitely return to try something different. This place is in Palama Supermarket that's located at Waimalu Shopping Center. Lots of free parking but this complex is always busy. Sometimes it's hard to find so park at the first stall that's empty. I've been spending a lot of time in Waimalu lately... I didn't realize the variety of places in the strip mall. One of the hidden gems is Waimalu Tasty BBQ located in Palama Supermarket (next to the cash registers). It is just a counter where you place your order. The employee we always see is this young boy. He is always courteous and polite and the food is always made fresh. They have the most reasonable (and tasty) bentos for $7.50. Each bento comes with your choice of protein, mandoo, rice and a banchan. I always sub the rice for a second banchan! The bentos offered are: mochiko chicken, bbq chicken, katsu, fried shrimp, fried fish, tempura, meat jun ($1.50 more), and musubi combo. If you want to eat there, there is an area with tables and chairs at the very entrance of the supermarket. We usually take our bentos and eat in our car. So so good! We eat at least once a week. Quick and easy Located inside the Palama Supermarket, you wouldn't know it's in here because they don't have any outside signs. I found this place by accident. I was grabbing some items at the supermarket when I noticed this place. It's the typical Korean BBQ. They serve the same items you would get at a Yummy's or Pearl's. IDK if this is a chain store like the ones I mentioned? One main difference is that you don't see the sides. They are located at the kitchen and not typically displayed out front. Was feeding the family so I got a family plate. It was generous for the price and you do get a loyalty card. There is limited seating to wait or eat there and it's clean. Overall four stars. Ordered a cheeseburger combo which according to the uber eats menu it was a popular choice. Also tried ordered the Garlic shrimp plate as there was a uber eats special buy one plate get one free - they had me at "free". Extremely satisfied with my choices! I had received a coupon for this place in my junk mail & after reading the rave reviews from fellow, yelpers - mahalo!, thought I'd give them a shot. They are located in the Waimalu Shopping center, across the street from Cutter Ford inside the Palama Market. That is one busy parking lot on a Saturday afternoon! Didn't think it was going to be that busy since it was way after lunch, about 2PM. But since the majority of this shopping center are food places plus it was the holiday season, I had to circle the parking lot twice. They recently opened for business in the fall & I believe they took over the spot where another 8Korean take-out was. When you enter the market, it's located to the right in the back by a cash register. There's was a young high school kid manning the counter but was looking at his phone. He didn't acknowledge me right away but when he finally did, he was cordially nice. This front area of the market also has a couple eating places. There are a few dine-in tables, most of it is take-out orders. Before I got there, I perused their menu online. I was looking for BBQ pork & in their menu a few months back, they had it but when I viewed the menu when I got there, they only had 1 pork entree dish, everything else was beef or chicken. I asked to be sure they didn't have it & he said no BBQ pork. Disappointing! The pork entree they had was a garlic pork chop. I wanted to try the garlic chicken since the reviews were favorable. So I placed my order to cover lunch & dinner for me & my hubby. FOOD BBQ chicken sandwich - ONO! Served on a good-sized sesame bun with 2 big pieces of boneless/skinless thighs, mayo, & lettuce. Extra $ if you want cheese/deluxe. Very tasty sandwich, very messy, but worth it for only $4.50. Garlic fish plate $14.95 (for the hubs) with all mac, substituted for rice. Fish was also ono, well-seasoned, & just enough garlic to taste & not overpower the other seasonings. Not sure what kind of fish this was, I think white fish? but they gave 3 big pieces of fish plus 3 huge scoops of mac salad. Hubs had enough food there for 2 dinners. Combo garlic chicken/garlic pork chop $16.95. I decided to give the pork chop a try. Normally I don't order pork chops out because it's always served dry. I got 2 huge pieces of thinly sliced pork chops, well-seasoned, lightly breaded, just enough garlic, & surprisingly not dry. ONO! Garlic chicken was in bite-sized pieces, also well-seasoned & tasty They gave a generous serving, even for a combo. There was tons of garlic which overpowered the overall taste. I wanted to love it, but there was too much garlic for me to enjoy it. After I had paid, I noticed the sign on the counter with pics which said if you didn't want rice or mac salad, you could substitute it for the following: choi sum, corn, kim chee, potato, bean sprouts, & the last item I didn't get it in the pic. All are the typical side veggies at a Korean eatery. All this was at no extra charge so I was able to switch the rice & mac for kim chee, choi sum, & sprouts. Veggies were great! For the mac salad, we thought it was ok, but way too much mayo. I was able to use my coupon for 15% off & they give out a frequent buyer card. For every 10 plates you buy, you get a $10 off - yes!!! They also have daily specials listed on a sign at the counter & you can order online for pick-up. Overall, we enjoyed our food at Tasty BBQ. We'll probably be back to try other menu items. PROS- -generous serving of food, reasonable prices -easy to find, free parking -they cook to go so food is freshly made. My mother in law ordered food for me and my daughter. She got us both garlic chicken plates which comes with Mac salad and a scoop of rice. This was so filling and delicious. The garlic chicken was cooked perfectly and tasty. I definitely enjoyed it. When I get a little extra money, I definitely want to try the fried rice and noodles. They sell burgers and fries for those who don't want Chinese food. A major plus. Located inside the Palama market. I have not yet been there but I will definitely make my way when I get paid again. First time here. I ordered a combo plate of meat juhn and mochiko chicken. Was $19 something extra for the meat juhn. The mest juhn did Not look Like the photo. I should have taken a photo. First of all we had only 3 pieces and the egg was falling off the meat. This is due to not squeezing out the marinade well before putting it in the flour. If you don't the egg batter will fall apart. I know cuz I make meat juhn. The mochiko chicken was dry like karaage chicken. Don't know who was cooking tonight 5/11 Sunday but I don't think I will be coming back. read more

I had the garlic chicken plate and it was delicious and enough for 2 meals (and I was hungry!) The garlic chicken seemed to just have a dusting of cornstarch or flour. It did not have the heavy glop of a wet batter (not that I don't like to indulge in some heavy breading every so often). It was flavorful and tender and I got that fried food indulgence feeling w/o the calories (and potential scoldings from my doctor). The girl who took my order was super nice, gave me the great recommendation to get the garlic chicken, and made sure to give me a stamp card. You get a stamp for each meal purchased and when you get 10, you get $10 off your next purchase. A good reason to pick up the plate lunches for your next get together! Chicken was prepared when I ordered it, so it took a bit of time, but worth it as the chicken was fresh and hot and by the time I finished browsing (and getting some snacks) in Palama Market, my food was packed and ready to go! Food is really good here, and the guy at the front is super cool, BUT, they have mixed up or missed our veggie choices ALL THE TIME. Thus the minus 1 star. Tonight we ordered a plate with 1 scoop rice, 1 scoop mac and choy sum, and instead got 2 scoops rice and choy sum. Another plate was supposed to have 3 veggies and instead we got 2 scoops rice and 1 veggie. Once they had all the veggies in the wrong plates! I'm always happy when they offer to substitute rice for veggies, but then get hugely disappointed and saddened when it's not correct. First time trying Waimalu Tasty BBQ, it's located inside Palama Market. Very friendly workers, the food and the prices are really good. They have a mix of Korean and Local food that comes with rice and mac salad. They do have Korean veggies too (choi sum, bean sprouts, kim chee, shoyu potato, japchae and corn) that you can choose instead of the mac, rice or purchase separately. We got two combo plates, meat jun/ bbq chicken and kalbi/bbq chicken plates and a Lrg side order of the veggies. It does cost $1.99 more if a Beef option is chosen on the combo plates. We ordered the Family Pack #1 for Easter dinner and everything was great. For $65 you get meat jun, chicken katsu, fried shrimp, kal bi, noodles with shrimp, mandoo and green salad. The portions were generous...there were five of us and there were still a lot of leftovers after we finished eating. All of the food was good. My favorite was the meat jun, which was tender and flavorful. My least favorite was the kal bi, which could have used a little more marinating time. All in all, I was happy with the food.
