Idk if it's just what I ordered or what. But I did not care for their chicken. We got the garlic and a Honey butter plate. The garlic plate , the thing I liked most was the rice being covered in the sauce, the chicken itself didn't have flavor inside but the skin was ok. For the butter, it was weird. On top I believe they put sugar or something. I just wasn't use to it. For the pricing , I wouldn't eat this place again. I have found my new favorite place for wings! This place imo has wing stop beat hands down! We stopped by tonight Wednesday, 3/9/2022 around 6:30 or so. There was no line and the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I told him it was my 1st time there and he made a suggestion of their most popular item the #2 crispy shoyu wings. Sold!! I also wanted to try some other menu items so I ordered the regular mini mandoo, #6 crispy honey butter wings, regular fries, and radish. I was going to order a boneless chicken plate as well but was told that they were out of rice and boneless chicken, oh well maybe next time. Everything came out hot and fresh in about 20 minutes. The takeout container for the fries isn't ideal as there is no cover, it's simply a paper boat with aluminum foil inside and the fries on top. Honestly after tasting the fries I didn't ever care, needless to say they never made it home, lol. My husband and I devoured them all in a matter of minutes! They were so crispy and hot that when we were done I regretted not ordering 2. The chicken was amazing! I enjoyed both flavors but prefer the shoyu. The chicken is as the name states crispy and the inside is tender and juicy. The mini mandoo were also delicious and a great deal. I would definitely come back to try other flavors and get more fries but I just found out that they opened a location in Mililani Town Center, which is so much closer to home, so I might be writing my review for that location next hehehe. read more

I asked the counter person which flavor is their most popular...she said it was the Crispy Shoyu and Crispy Garlic so I ordered half order of each which consists of a total of 20 pieces. The chicken was crispy like it's name and both flavors were tasty! As you know, wings are small and doesn't have much meat so two bites and you're done with one piece so having 20 pieces is not a lot and for $1.50 to $1.60 a piece, it is pricey but would come back again when we're craving tasty wings! read more

11-6-2020 After dropping off the kiddies around 6 p.m., what's for dinner was on our minds. Rare opportunity for us to be in this area at night. As the driver, I suggested Vons as we had to pass this strip mall of eateries to get home. Had read a few reviews previously and about a 45 minute wait so told hubs, a non- yelper to call in the order. There was a recording and phone was not being picked up. Easy enough to just stop by. Glad we did: full order of crispy shoyu chicken and 2 cole slaws was placed with a 30 minute wait time announced. Perfect cuz we decided I could run an errand down the road and swing around to come back. Sure enough, our order was ready in the time quoted. At 6:30 ish on a Friday night, this place and its neighboring eateries were hopping. Customers going in, coming out with full plastic bags or waiting around outside. By 7 p.m. it was clear. Got home, cuz of Covid went to botcha first before grinding on some awesome wings. The full order had about 20 pieces in a cute little carton with picnic like red and white checkered lining tissue. Everything was subtle. Subtle light coating, subtly marinated prior to frying, subtle crunch, subtle amount of oil on your fingertips after devouring the delightful morsels of each piece. I always choose the winged parts more than the drumettes. Kinda sensual if you can call it that, to eat the meat between and around the two tiny bones then suck off the remaining edges. Okay, enough about that. You have to be a winged eater to know. The cole slaw was like a little parade of cut up veggies: cabbage, carrots, bits of red cabbage added in for color and a surprise sprinkling of corn niblets for a hint of crunchy sweetness. Would I return? Most definitely. Very enjoyable meal. When Hawaii moves to higher Tiers when larger gatherings are allowed, would make an excellent pupu for an easy potluck to bring. Amazing Wings! By far one of the best wing places I've been to. This location is located in the Waimalu Shopping Center across of Best Buy. It has its own entrance, but also has a side entrance when you enter Pamala Supermarket. It's kind of a whole in the wall and doesn't really have an eating area to enjoy your chicken wings. I've notice, mostly everyone does take out. My favorite thing to get here is their #4, the crispy garlic. I love anything garlic. Their sauce they coat their chicken in is so flavorful I can probably finish a whole full order. I usually get a half order, which is around 10 chicken wings. Their sauce isn't too overpowering, but it good enough for you not to want a dipping sauce. I heard a lot of good raves about their other flavors, like their crispy shoyu and crispy snow flavors. I've been to Von's a few times, but I always order their crispy garlic flavor because it's that addicting. The only con is that it does take a while for the chicken to be cooked up, especially if it's busy. The few times I've been, I think the shortest wait time I waited was at least 20 minutes. It's not really a big deal because Palama Supermarket is right there for me to go in and browse. Definitely should do a phone order before you head over if you don't want to wait. My only problem and it's probably my fault is you need to order prior to picking up your order. It literally took about 25 minutes after I ordered. They were very busy which I'm sure added to the delay. The owner did let me know it would be a wait. The restaurant was very clean and organized. Social distancing was enforced and no eating on premises. Parking is very hard. This shopping center is very busy with all the different great places to eat and the stalls are not to big. Cooking chicken thoroughly is so important. Now being that it was our first time here, maybe it was just the lunch rush and so I went back and simply asked if at all feasible if it could be reheated in a microwave for a bit more just to put our minds at ease. I was met with the cashier who mentioned that they are unable to do so because they do not have a microwave. She looked at the pink chicken and said because he took a bite out of it that they wouldn't be able to take it back to reheat in oil. Yes that I can understand, but it may be useful to have a microwave so this situation could've been more easily fixed. It is always on my culinary travel to do list! Well, because I'm search of the best fried chicken that's why!! I ordered a half of the butter garlic wings (10 wings in a half) and a half spicy. Wings are like potato chips. Buy 20, you end up eating 20, buy 10 ....well you get the idea! I would've liked a bit more garlic in my butter garlic, but the spicy was spicy! I can tolerate spicy! I come to Waimalu shopping center all the time and never tried Von's chicken! I guess I never had an urge for chicken wings. I got the chicken wing plate for $11.95 and the chicken wings were very good! I got the crispy snow (cheese and onion powder). They fry them fresh as you order so best to call your order in. I don't recommend the plate though, 4 wings is not enough to be full and the mandoo tasted horrible like dishwashing soap, I spit it out and dumped it. The corn was straight out of the refrigerator cold. Next time I'll skip the chicken plate and just order wings by itself. Five star for the chicken wings but thumbs down for the plate. read more
