My dad and I stopped into the Waffles Cafe today. He had the french toast and I had the eggs and bacon. Both dishes were just fine... but just like the other reviews said the table WAS super sticky! Whats up with that? We discussed the pros and cons of the Waffles Caffe and agreed on two stars. I think next time we are looking for food in Yakima we might just keep driving to the next city. This place is the best. We showed up on a whim and were told of a 25 minute wait. Would have been well worth that, they took us in 10 minutes early though. No one in our group could decide on one thing, so between 4 people we ordered the Sasquatch meal, 2 orders of Chicken in a Biscuit, and a Waffle with strawberries, raspberries, & blueberry syrup and shared it all. I can't remember a better breakfast at least in a while, if not ever. So so good. Large portions and will fill you up easily. Fantastic, friendly & fast service. read more

Today I had a not-so-good experience at the 72nd street location -- our waitress was attentive and pleasant, however we waited in a restaurant with only two other tables occupied by very small parties for 45 minutes for our food. When it arrived it was good -- except that the fruit bowl I was served was so old it had begun to ferment, the bacon served had been over-fried and was Very Dry, and my son was served a hard boiled egg that had an entirely green yolk which the waitress ignored (this is no exaggeration). Between the extremely long wait for very simple food and the lack of interest in the quality of the food, I am fairly certain I will not return. read more

**Disclaimer: my husband and I worked in food service for years so we have pretty in tune with good service, bad service, and an understaffed restaurant (which is no fault of the employees even if the service suffers.) So we went here for my birthday as a tradition almost every year since I was little. They have always been great! This year however was not :/ we were told the wait was for about 20 min for our party of 6. They were pretty busy so we expected to wait but there wasn't any room to stand inside and the little waiting room had no heat! After about 20 min, They offered us 2 booths near each other but I rarely get to see my family and I wanted us to sit together on my birthday. Well 10 min later they offered another 2 separate booths, and said it'd be another 15+ min for a table together...ok so, I get that they can't just make people get up and leave, but I would appreciate being quoted a time that's relatively correct so we may have gone someplace else! We accepted the booths and sat separate. The service was pretty quick, but our server was very loud, kept yelling at other servers, and when another large party came in and was holding the door open (letting in a TON of frozen air for a good ten plus min) and when my father was asking her to see if she could ask the gentlemen standing in the doorway to move, she turned away from him my father and said..no shouted.."well that's the only way warm air gets into the little room!" *shocked face* I looked at my husband, dumbfounded she just did that. And looked at my poor 90 year old grandmother shivering.... So my husband had to go and close the door. (After the server shouted for them to move) Anyway, the food was ok, waffles were delicious as usual! Which is why they get 3 instead of 2. Needless to say, we will have a new tradition for my birthday! read more

Loved the waitresses, this was the best part of the meal I thought. We split a lemon waffle with berries and whip cream on top. It was good, but the berries were frozen and the lemon was that stuff you find in lemon-filled donuts. Fresh fruit always wins, they should never use anything else. For breakfast I had eggs benedict which came with hash browns. The ham was tasty, the egg was done properly, but they drenched it in poorly made sauce which ruined everything, it would have been so delicious had the sauce been correct. The hash browns were undercooked and could have used a bit more flavor. The coffee could have been served hot. Like I said, I loved the waitresses, they were really great and the food overall was ok. Would I go back? I might just to try the sausage and bacon I saw on other plates. read more

After reading other reviews i had high expectations, always challenging. We had 2 country breakfasts, one with sausage links and the other with a pork chop, both with a waffle, 2 coffees totaling about $24. Service was quick and friendly. Restaurant was clean and inviting. The pork chop was almost inedible, over cooked, tasteless and so tough the steak knife almost couldn't cut through it. Eggs on both were cooked perfectly, however they were clearly institutional fare with the yolks extremely pale and not very flavorful. I'm a free range egg buyer (if not farmers market eggs) so I was somewhat taken aback. The waffles were good, but not worthy of the rave reviews and the warm syrup was good, but,again, I've moved on from institutional syrup in favor of real maple syrup. In short, decent road breakfast and really nice people! read more

Staying at the day inn and decided to walk across the parking to give it a try. Seemed very busy as I walked in but was seated with in a couple minutes tops. Waiter was on top of it and took care of us and the food was definitely good. I had the French toast read more

I have had good and bad at both locations though more so with the North 1st St Location. Ordered an omelet that came with a plate full of grease and sent it back, apparently the Cook Was In Her Mood and burnt the ingredient and the eggs were so over cooked they were dry as paper. I contacted the owners with Oh She Is Our Best Cook, How do you spell Denial. Other times it has been very good, normally the service is very good and that is why I gave two stars which brought it up. Apparently I am not the only one that feels this place could improve drastically, ie new cooks. read more

This was a really great breakfast spot for my first time in Washington! A little small and crowded at times but I loved the strawberry banana waffles with pecans! Even had icecream in the middle and whipped cream on top ! I poured strawberry syrup over ! The waffles were so fluffy and the hashbrowns were so crispy and buttery ! I came here and it was okay. The service was sort of schizophrenic. We ended up having to waiters and one was nice, the other seemed totally stressed. And it was a busy day. The food was fine. Decent. I didn't like the ambiance though and it seemed very noisy and hectic. And something about it didn't feel clean to me, but that could just be because it was so busy. I don't know. I came here because this place happened to be the closest to YTC (Yakima Training Center). I hop was 35 minutes away. I had the stuffed crepes with strawberries I was immensely displeased although they have good bacon but they did not cook it to my specifications (extra crispy). Overall an 'OK' breakfast. They also have an awkward way of paying you have to stand in a line while you are in everyone's way. Don't know if I would come back. read more

The service was great. Peaches and cream waffle and biscuit and gravy were some of the best ever, but the omelet was one of the worst ever. Just short of burned with the ham, onion, peppers, cheese just sort of sprinkled over the op and almost melted cheese. Just not good. read more

I have passed this restaurant many times. to be honest it just looked a little old and not so appealing. But like they say don't judge a book by its cover. My wife told me we should try it and we did. It was the best service and breakfast that we have had in a long time. The food came out quickly and the order was correct. So we thought maybe it's just because it's our first time so we tried it again and guess what? It was delicious like the first time and the service was awesome I highly recommend it. this is our new breakfast restaurant. They also have one in the Meadowbrook Mall and we went there also and it was delicious. read more

They were able to get our group of 8 in for breakfast really quickly as another group was leaving, which was awesome. The table itself was pushed up tight against a wall and made it impossible for people from other tables to get out without someone from our table getting up from their seat. Food probably took 25 minutes or so to come out, but we were there during a busy brunch rush, so it was to be expected. They did a good job of taking everyone's orders and only 1 of 8 came out incorrectly. Food was satisfying for a very casual brunch spot in Yakima area. read more

I love waffles café. The service is always exceptional. They are spot on with the coffee - few restaurants are as good at the coffee. I had their monthly waffle. It was pumpkin spice and it was awesome. The seafood Omlette is another favorite that we love. Check it out w a waffle. My only suggestion is please heat your syrup. Putting cold syrup on a nice hot crispy waffle ruins the whole experience. read more

Our family had a delicious breakfast here last Saturday. Staff was friendly and attentive. My husband had the Sasquatch chicken fried steak and it was so tender he didn't need a knife. My friend and I stopped here on a road trip. It was 8am on a Saturday morning. The hostess was friendly and directed us to a booth that was clean and prepped with menus ready. Before we even cracked the menu our waitress was there for our drink order. I ordered a half order meat lovers omelette. It was a perfect portion. The full size would have been overkill. My friend ordered french toast. Both dishes were served to us quickly and were cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend. read more

Saw the great reviews and really wanted to try this place but wasn't impressed by the location it's looks like a really scary part of town and before I could get in the front door I was disappointed at how dirty it looked trash around the entrance and bark all over sidewalk, not to save for my disabled husband, walked in and it didn't look very clean at all and had a funny smell so we did not stay to try the food. I'm surprised no one mentioned what a dumpy looking place this was. Food may be great if you can get past the dirty looking place. I couldn't . read more
