Stopped in for lunch with three friends and was delighted by how good everything was. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich, and it was excellent--flavorful, well balanced, and generously portioned. I especially appreciated that the order came with Thousand Island dressing on the side and I was able to request horseradish...which is surprisingly hard to find elsewhere. There was enough for me to take half of my lunch home. The sandwich came with very good French fries, served with fry sauce, though I asked for a side of ranch. Everything was fresh, hot, and satisfying. One can upgrade to salad or soup for an extra $2. The other guests ordered the Clubhouse Quesadilla appetizer for her lunch; another had the Yakisoba with Pork and the other had the Avocado Chicken Burger with just lettuce (no bread). Each of their meals looked great. Our server, Peggy, was wonderful--attentive without being intrusive, friendly, and on top of everything we needed. Views, excellent food, good customer service - Apple Tree Restaurant has become one of our favorite places for breakfast in the Valley. They have standard breakfast fare with price is comparable to other breakfast spots in town. If you're eating there, definitely get the apple muffin, a nice taste of the valley. For sure call in advance just to make sure they have a table available. With that said, we've never had a problem getting a spot to eat. In the summer and early fall they have a nice patio or you can sit and overlook the golf course and golfers approaching the 18th hole. read more

I've come to this restaurant for many years. It's one of the few restaurants in Yakima that has a pretty view. It overlooks the golf course with trees in the distance. They have a nice outdoor patio with umbrellas. Some of the food is very good and some not so good. The smoked prime rib they offer end of the week is one of my favorite meals. It's always very good quality meat and the smoky flavor is very good and something I've never seen offered elsewhere. The service is hit or miss. They don't time the courses so the entree usually gets served while still having the salad. I don't think I've ever seen any of the servers upon a subsequent visit, which is indicative of less than adequate working conditions. The prices are very reasonable for drinks and food. It seems to be a popular place for celebrations so there's often at least one table with a large group, which affects the noise level and service. I've only gone for dinner so maybe lunchtime is a better overall experience. Four stars for view, price and consistently good food. read more

Such a disappointment! The table was dirty from the last customer, staff didn't bother to wipe it off before seating us. Ordered a stater to have before dinner, everything came out at once. The salad, dinner and lastly, the starter. They were out of several items including baked potatoes. Everything arrived cold. It took me over 6 years to convince my husband to give Apple Tree another chance after a disastrous brunch. So many other restaurants in town that are worth the money. I like sitting on their deck on a nice evening. The food is decent although nothing special. But, a predictable menu can be just what you want sometimes. The service is always good. The servers are friendly and hardworking. When they ran out of cherries for a Manhattan, the waitress leaned in and smiled and said, "I'm sorry but we're out of cherries so I just gave you a little extra rye. I hope that's okay." read more

We were a "walk in" party of about 22 and they handled it flawlessly. I regret not taking pictures of our food because it was EXCELLENT! Prime rib was perfect. Loaded baked potato, side salads, BBQ salad, salmon, fried cod and even the Cranberry Mule was 5 stars. Have no idea how two servers pulled off the fantastic service but they did. Beautiful setting over looking the golf course. As far as service or options as a place to do drinks and visit we weren't impressed. Appetizer menu is super limited- it was a struggle to find a couple of appetizers to share. Wait staff didn't seem to concerned with making us feel welcome. It's now called Apple Tree Grill, I suppose in an attempt to reinvent the place? This was my first time there, so I don't know if anything has changed, but the furniture and decor was pretty much what you'd expect. The restaurant overlooks the golf course, which is beautiful. 6 of us went on a scorching Sunday for brunch. Upon walking past the buffet line to our table, it seemed like a pretty small spread. However, we were all very pleased with the selection and quality of the food. The food was prepared/served on reasonably sized platters, which they quickly refilled, so items didn't cool off. The waffles were really good. They also have an omelette station where they're made to order. Plenty of ingredient choices and it was delicious! read more

The view is unbelievable from the patio. Worth the traveling the 20 minutes from most Yakima hotels. I had the halibut special and raspberry ice tea. The food was good but not gourmet by any means. The halibut was $24 dollars which was reasonable. read more

I wanted to love it here. Dinner above the golf course, music on a Saturday night and a yummy looking menu... but it just didn't work out that way. We waited well over an hour from the time we ordered until the time our food came. We loved the calamari and the fries but that was about it. We ordered medium rare prime rib and it was super rare, barely warm. Our server smiled a lot and seemed friendly but didn't check in frequently and didn't seem to want to help resolve anything. The prime rib dip sandwiches didn't have a lot of flavor (tasted stale) and the burger fell apart. They kept leaving the outside door open and the flies were abundant. It was the second time we've been here (out of two times) that the service and food were less than we expected. Bummer. read more

This usually has been a nice place to have a weekend breakfast but not today. We arrived about 9:00 and noticed the full parking lot. Primarily it was people golfing and the restaurant had many tables open. There was a six top and two four tops. When we arrived there was a party of 10 waiting to be seated. The high school age host kept giving the just one more minute sign to us. The big party was running out of things to do as they waited and waited. The host was pouring coffee, cleaning off tables , talking to people etc. There was only one waitress and one cook. No one ever talked to us and the ten top was still waiting so after ten minutes we decided to go elsewhere. We are somewhat regulars and didn't see any employee we knew. I will not return to a place where they don't wait on you or even seat you. read more

Friend suggested this place for birthday dinner. Arrived 30 minutes before closing, was somewhat slow, about three tables used out of maybe 25 tables. We were seated quickly, with drinks and order. A party of six was then seated next to us, they were very loud and made conversation quite difficult. With many empty tables, I wish the host sat them at least another table away. Food was good though, had the ribeye with bleu cheese sprinkles, cooked perfectly. Had dessert as well, our server was quite attentive. As we left the group next to us apologized for their volume, they weren't completely annoying though. For that I give Apple Tree 3 stars read more

Lovely atmosphere and wonderful view of the golf course. Food was excellent however the service was not. Late afternoon and the restaurant was almost empty. The wait staff was more interested in joking and talking to each other than paying any attention to customers. This was not our first visit but the service has never improved. Our first time out here and we were pleasantly surprised despite the bad reviews. Our dinner party sat outside on the patio overlooking the golf course and the view was stunning! We dined on mushroom swiss burgers, barbeque burgers, halibut and prime rib. All fantastic! The group next to us had fresh made benigets and they smelled heavenly. Decided to check out the new outdoor bar with some friends. The food was good, a bit pricey but I guess you could say you are paying for the view, which was outstanding (we had a break in the smoke and the view/weather was amazing). The service was terrible. We waited so long after ordering our drinks that we were about to go up to the bar and get them ourselves when they finally arrived. Same for ordering food and then for it to arrive. We had planned to have a few drinks and dinner but decided to get our check after 1 drink and appetizers due to the slow service. Then even getting the check took forever. We won't be back. No view is worth the kind of service we had. I give it 2 stars only because of the view and the food was not bad. read more

We live out in West Valley, where the dining locations are limited. Over the years, we try the Apple Tree once in a while, usually after a Menu change, or some other reason to think that "this time it might be good". We went on a Monday. There were two servers and about 25 people. Service was extremely slow. I had the Mango Chicken, and my wife had a salad with chicken breast. The chicken in both of our dishes was dry. As if it was pre-cooked and frozen, like the low budget stuff you'd find at Costco. Fifty-bucks, poor service, bad food. They also need to re-train the hostess on proper food prep. I watched her cut lemons and limes for a flavored water drink. She would get up, answer the phone, or handle menus as she sat new guests - and never washed her hands before returning to her prep work. I even once saw her sucking on her finger as if there was a wound - and then returned to cutting up lemons. In a few more months, this "new" menu will also fail, and there will be another reason to think..... This time it might be good. And again I will be disappointed. read more

here for Sunday brunch for the second time in just over three months. first visit was average- decent service, decent food. hubby and I ordered from the menu, b.l.t. for myself, fish n chips for him. nothing extraordinary about the food, staff or dining room. second go was to try the sunday breakfast buffet, brought five of my closest friends after church. all started out decent. the three children with us were very excited about a buffet style breakfast. after starting to eat our meal unfortunately my brother noticed an ant in the salt shaker that everyone had used-- across the table. everyone was immediately finished eating, whether full or not. discreetly we informed our waitress as the dining room was quite full. she immediately apologized and took the salt shaker in question to the back. kitchen manager comes out less than apologetic, shrugged it off. stated he would comp the meal at 50% and that's all he could do. none of the other tables condiments were removed nor checked after our discovery and the chef truly did not seem apologetic at all. we felt like we'd done something wrong. after all that they still managed to squeeze us for 60 bucks.. after finding an insect in our food. If I could give this less than one star, I would. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had in Yakima! Took my family (party of 10) here for Mother's Day buffet today only to be seated near the door which led to the outside deck. Every time the door flew open, the cold air blasted us. Several times before we gave our beverage order, I got up to close the door.Asked the waitress to please close the door each time she came back in. Door needs to be adjusted to close properly.There was a large table right behind us, and we asked to be moved. We were told that another party was expected. (They never showed up) Went to buffet, green salad nearly out, no waffles, no strawberries. Dice red potatoes -hash browns-were cold. Eggs benedicts were cold and dried out. Ran out of prime rib just as we walked up, had to ask them to bring out more. Ran out of desserts, they brought out frozen cheesecake.Really?? Ladies bathroom had no paper towels.Our reservations were for 2pm, but I would have expected that we would receive the same quality and quantity that the 9am customers received. Complained to manager who listened to me rant, but offered nothing other than an apology. Unfortunately have to go back here at the end of July for a reunion. And this is suppose to be one of Yakima best offerings? Sad. read more

Have eaten here a few times and the food has always been great. Nice view of the course while having drinks or dining. Staff was pleasant, although shorthanded both times, so I wouldn't go if I was in a hurry. Advise not to sit next to the open kitchen area unless you like the heat. Save your time and money. Took friends from out of town here for the view. The view is still there, but the food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. Top that with slow and indifferent service, we won't be back for a long time. The food sat under the heat lamp forever while they waited for everyone else's food to finish so of course three out of four meals were cold and had to be sent back. Our friends ordered fish and chips and the portion of fish you get on a Mcfish sandwich at McDonalds was larger then what they got. The plate was 3/4 full of fries. There are at least 20 other places in town that are way better to eat at, don't waste your time. read more
