First of all the interior looks great, to the left looks like an older portion of the building and you walk straight into it looks like a bar... off to the right of the dining room, which I posted a picture of the interior. The service was friendly, and I'd say that everyone made me feel welcome, they seemed warm and it was early in the morning and sometime you can get people who aren't the friendliest. I had an orange juice and a caramel macchiato for my drink, and then I had the Benedict which I posted a picture of with the stuffed hashbrowns. I will say that the Benedict did not allow me. I would give them a 6.9 out of 10. Maybe it's me, but it just didn't have the flavor I was expecting. The stuffed hash browns were good. I give them an 8.9 out of 10 and as a total for the experience, I would rate it roughly.... An 8/10. I think that I would be back to try them for something different. Party of 4 today for a Saturday brunch. The place was busy. We were prompted seated. The food was excellent. I had the farmer's eggs benedict with gravy. Eggs & hash browns were properly cooked. Our waiter offered a sample of the gravy which was very good and prompted us to order a couple of extra sides of gravy. We also ordered the 'Main Stop Platter', the French toast with fruit bowl and some other items. This was a family get-together, so I forgot to take photos. Fun place to go for breakfast! Located inside a former train station it has kept its old school charm. They do American food with a "Mexican twist" so I decided to try the CHURRO WAFFLES. Had high hopes for the dish but unfortunately I didn't like it! It took them a good 30 minutes to prepare them (restaurant was NOT busy) and when they came out I understood why. They took a waffle, the heavily DEEP FRIED it and then did a HEAVY coating of sugar and some cinnamon. It was just too much. You basically had a churro instead of transforming a waffle into something cool. I would skip the deep frying step. A crispy waffle is enough and then LIGHTY dust it with sugar/cinnamon. Despite not liking my dish I still have them 4 stars because I liked the creative effort and would like to come back and try something else. read more

The food is amazing! They truly care about the presentation of their dishes along with flavor. Portion is generous too. The ambiance is kind of weird & quirky. First of all, it took awhile for us to get noticed to be seated even though they weren't busy. They originally sat us in a dark area by the entrance and we asked to be located in the main dining with much more natural lighting. The first server who sat us was very rude & ignored us. The second server was a darling and soo friendly! I made sure our tip went directly to her. Overall, she made our visit pleasant and we enjoyed the food. Highly recommend for food alone! read more

My family and I made a trip to Yakima and stayed in downtown. After checking Yelp, we stumbled upon Main Stop on the Ave within a mile of our hotel. This place was near a jail but don't let that scare you. The area looked historic and the building was an old train station converted into a restaurant on one side and a coffee shop on the other. Inside was super cool and had good vibes. My daughter loved the look and I loved the big windows in the dining area where we were sitting. Food was great! I sampled almost every dish my family got lol. And I tried Chilaquiles for the first time. Loved it. I have made something similar at home but not quite the same with the red sauce. It was super tasty. I wonder what it would taste like with chorizo added into the mix? I thought the overall flavor was a little mild and I think a little spice would've stepped it up a notch for me. My daughter had the sweet crepes with cream cheese filling and strawberries. She practically liked her plate. She did say it was a little too much sweetness for her but getting a side of bacon helped break it up. Once she started moving from salty bacon to sweet crepe bites, she loved it. My hubby and one kiddo had the Main Stop omelette. My kiddo said his omelette was super good and it had the right amount of jalapeño. It too spicy and just the right flavor added. My youngest had the French Toast Platter and I snuck a bite! That French toast was fluffy and so good! If I wasn't already full I would've ate more of his too! He is a little picky about his hash browns but said these ones were great. Crispy and hot. (He was scooping them into his mouth like his life depended on getting every shredded piece of potato) So glad we did a little search and found this spot. We picked this place based on reviews. I have no idea what people are talking about with regard to service. Can't speak to the food since our food was never delivered after 30 min. Never checked on us, never gave us an update. I flagged the waitress down finally as she walked by ignoring us at 22 minutes. 3 min later a different waitress came up asking what our order was. After 30 minutes we got up and left. I would not recommend this place. Food might be good, but who would know. So sad. Avoid. read more

We stayed in Yakima for two nights, and came to Main Stop on the Ave two days in a row, one for breakfast & one for lunch. The place is SO cute - Situated in repurposed train station and decorated with a happy, homey feel. Everyone who worked there was sooo, so nice and our waiters were very attentive, and they were BUSY! As for the food... it was really good, depending on what you order. I had steak and eggs with loaded sweet potato hash one day and a grilled chicken Caprese sandwich the next, and both were SO delicious. Very fresh. Tastes homemade. Large portions - I was SO happy! My dad had a machaca breakfast burrito one day, and a grilled chicken salad the next, and both of those were pretty lame, to be honest... The meat (machaca) in the breakfast burrito was very good, but there was hardly any of it, it was mostly filled with dry potatoes, overall, it was very dry, and not worth the value. The grilled chicken salad was also pretty sad, it was just cut up iceberg lettuce with some shredded she is and small cubes of grilled chicken, for over $13. It was definitely not worth the money, it was what you would imagine a diner, side salad to be, and did not have enough chicken for the price. Overall, still very happy with the experience, and it was a great spot, but just be careful what you order! Some things are far and beyond better than others! read more

Service was a little slow because the place is huge and packed, but the food and coffee were good. One of my friends with me was a former coffee taster for Starbucks and he was impressed with the quality of the coffee they served, so that's saying a lot for someone who was once paid to select the highest quality coffees from around the world. It's clean and the servers were attentive and helpful. No problems there. The menu is limited though for a high price. Most things you either get meat or veggies. At the most you can get meat and onions. I chose the B.E.A.S.T. sandwich which is bacon, egg, avocado, spinach, and tomato with mayo and a side of hash browns. I expected more. The hash browns were under seasoned. Nothing spectacular. The were cooked perfectly though with a great crisp and nothing mushy. The sandwich though just didn't stand out in taste... except for the butter. The whole thing was overpowering with butter. Between each bite I had to wipe my hands and face. It was way too much. I could taste butter over every other taste in that sandwich and there should have been some good tastes. My son had pancakes. A lot of vanilla and very sweet. Overall a pretty good place to have breakfast or brunch in Yakima. The menu is huge. Lots of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The ambience could definitely be improved. The coffee was pretty good. I had the savory crepes. They were well made, with a lot of fresh, well cooked vegetables inside, and a nice, hot, creamy sauce on the top. It tasted better with Tabasco, so those who prefer a spicier flavor profile would do well with requesting Tabasco / hot sauce on the side. The staff is kind and very helpful. The owner is always around making sure everyone is having a great experience. This is the best breakfast in Yakima. People talk about the powerhouse grill, if you are 85 maybe it is great. But the flair and quality of food at the Mainstop is awesome. I went there today as I was passing through for the 1st time. I was greeted promptly and seated right away the only lady working quickly took my drink order and brought it to me , that was nice . I asked for her recommendation on food and she directed me to the chorizo Benedict everything was fine . I got my food and immediately did the egg test , simply slicing the egg hoping the yolk would run all over , it did not it was however hard .
