There were 12 of us on our way at to visit the Elk Feeding Station and we reserved a table at the Drift Inn for brunch at 11:00 AM. What a treat. It's a step into the past, in more ways than one. The memorabilia sparked memories, the service was impressive, the food was delicious. Congenial staff, fresh and tasty food from the kitchen served in a timely fashion and we all ordered from the menu. I'm sure my eggs were farm fresh ( I know about these things). I can highly recommend this quaint, wayside, unpretentious diner. We will return next year for the feeding of ourselves and the elk. read more

We came here on a slow Monday afternoon. The owner was our server. He was very nice. The food was good. I had a club sandwich ($17) and my dad had a 1/3 basic burger ($15). The price of the food is the reason for the loss of two stars. Most of the burger options were $18 and were 1/3 pound and $17 for a club sandwich is way above the norm. I'd stop here again just because nothing else is around but I wouldn't make the Drift Inn a destination restaurant. read more

This little 50's style dinner was close to the pass. After travelling down 410, we were starved. We got there around 1:30pm after the lunch crowd and had the place to ourselves. My wife had the club sandwich which was HUGE and knew we were going to be taking most of that with us. She admitted that it was just delicious. I couldn't help myself and had the Patty melt, which was also great. Even though, I should of had the Monte Cristo, as you don't see many places have those. The sandwiches come with a choice of fries, onion rings, tots or a salad, so there are many choices there. The waitress was great and imagine she could handle the crowd if it was busy. Stopped here on an exteded weekend for lunch. Mom and pops style diner with 50's decor. Lots of 50's memorabilia; some authentic some replicated. Posatives: Right of the highway. Connected to a convenient store. Very cute and inviting. Friendly service. Good food. Negatives: Table and silverware were a bit sticky. A bit pricey: about $20 per plate. Other: Definitely worth a stop and we will likely stop again if we find ourselves traveling through the area again. read more

Was looking for a place to stop and eat before we headed over the pass. Saw this hole in the wall diner, and decided to check it out. I got the montecristco sandwich, which was very tasty. The fries are the standard diner fries... which while they were technically "nothing special", to me they were perfect. The food was prepared just fine, and the meals for the rest of my party looked tasty and they said it was filling and tasted good. I'm not sure how original and handmade everything was... but that really isn't what places like this are about. It's about side of the road, old school diner food. In a place you can rest, have a cup of coffee, and fill up on food. HUGE thing that will probably get me to stop here again if I'm passing through... all day breakfast! We decided to check out the Drift Inn since the Chinook Center has reopened. It was pretty tasty, well priced and you got a lot of food for your money! The waitress we had was very sweet and efficient. The cook got our order out pretty quickly and the food tasted great!!! Hubby had a Naches Burger and opted for onion rings for the side...wowza, they gave him a generous portion too! I tried one and it was crispy and didn't soak of grease when you bit in to it....good stuff! I had the Monte Cristo sandwich with a side of Steak Mushroom Soup. It was the bomb!!! The sandwich was so delicious and cooked to perfection! The raspberry jelly on the side was perfect too! If you want quick, cheap eats in Naches, check this place out! read more

Unfortunately, we had a not-so-good experience here. 4 of us stopped in to have a bite around 7:00 Friday night. We all ordered clam chowder with our food and only 3 cups were served because they ran out. Understandable but the 3 cups had nothing in them at all except for juice. No clams...no potatoes. 2 of us decided to split a sandwich and it was served on 1 plate instead of 2. Food was greasy and my half of the Reuben sandwich fell apart before I could bite into it. The service was not good. Waitress was not taking care of us and there were very few people inside. She was busy chatting. She gave the table behind us free pie and told them they were getting it because she had been a lousy waitress to them. When we waited for our bill, we discovered she was out smoking and not taking care of business. Won't go there again when I visit Yakima. read more

Stopped to get gas and go to convenience store when we parked, looked to left and noticed the 'Drift Inn" restaurant. Since we had a long hard drive over the pass ahead of us, decided to have a REAL breakfast; rather than whatever snacks we were going to get at the store. Went in to the 'DRIFT INN', immediately was transfixed by all the memorabilia from 50's and early sixties; including toys, collectibles, figurines and magazines like Life, lining walls and on tables, which you can peruse. A very pleasant lady greeted us (I regret not getting her name), has daughter who works on emergency responae vehicle. Anyway, I ordered poached eggs, bacon and cottage potatoes. Partner order biscuits and gravy with patty sausage. Absolutely Incredible breakfasts for each of us! My poached eggs were perfectly poached, not too hard, not too runny (a feat in itself - most wont even attempt), and in a right sized bowl with no excess water. A delight in a restaurant (finally). The cottage potatoes were a nice larger size than you usually get (one piece per fork) with the perfect complement of green bell pepper; enough for smart flavoring but not overwhelming. Biting into them, they each tasted as though the potato had just come from the ground! I have no idea how they mastered that, unless they actually have a greenhouse out back and are, indeed, harvesting daily. The bacon was the nicest I have had in a restaurant or even at home! Perfectly fried - no rawness - crisp but not overly - flavor unique. Must be specially sourced. My partner's biscuits and sausage gravy were exceptional. Being from the south, he is very particular to sausage and gravy. And usually, especially in the NW it is from a mix and horrid. He raved to the waitress about how wonderful it was and especially the patty sausage. We have both given up on ordering link or patty sausage anywhere for breakfast because it is consistently gross. He raved about the sausage and the gravy. The waitress shared that due to few customers that morning, the gravy had 'broke' (a term with which I am not familiar). Therefore the cook threw it out to make a fresh batch, which was why our order took longer than normal to prepare. SHOCKING! Most others would have whisked in some cold water, brought it up and added to dish; especially for tourists and that there would probably not be any more customers for breakfast, since it was around 10:30 a.m. The waitress stated several times that he was a great cook. I/We definitely concur; as did a fellow traveler sitting next to us who had the French Toast. We overheard him telling the waitress it was the best French Toast he had ever had. We have driven past this restaurant almost monthly for over 15 years, never stopping in. I can't wait to stop for lunch and dinner next time through. We can attest we are not in any way related to or know any person associated with the restaurant. Felt so strongly - I looked the restaurant up on internet to get its name, so I could share our joy with others. read more

It was yummy!!! I had french dip sandwich that had grilled onions and mushrooms w/swiss cheese! My husband had a Monte Cristo w/raspberry sauce. It was really good too!! :) I highly recommend it. read more

I've been here NUMEROUS times since the transition of different owners, being that I am local. Previous owners ran a better establishment, by far. Every time we go in (limited around here) we are never satisfied as we leave. Husband tried a steak breakfast meal and I had a club house, which is the only thing that I've ever had here that doesn't seem like it had been slopped out of a can. Hubby's steak was cooked to perfection (Kimmy and Rick are awesome cooks) but it was all fat. After rummaging through all the fat, he barely got any steak. Hash browns were soggy. My husband & I Left hungry. So, in short, if you are looking for overpriced, salty processed food, this is a great place to go! read more

The old Drift Inn was fabulous with home made everything! Then it closed, but had re-opened. Only some of the food is made from scratch. However, our waitress, Kim or Cleo, was friendly and aimed us to the home made items. I hope they continue to bring back the menu with all items made from scratch. This time, We had chicken noodle soup, which was from scratch, including yummy fat noodles. My husband had the chicken fried steak. He loved it, and thought the country gravy was spot on! I had the prime rib. It was hearty, but a little too meek in seasoning. The quality of the beef was very fresh. read more

We ordered a bowl of homemadeclam chowder and the Drifter burger with onion rings. We finished off with homemade peach cobbler. The chowder 4 stars for sure. The burger - 5 stars for sure and no condiments necessary. We had extra cheddar and no American cheese, tomato and onion on the side. It had a huge slab of delicious ham as well as perfect bacon to perfect this burger. Dessert (peach cobbler) was disappointing (still ok) but peaches were out of season making it necessary to use canned. Next time we'll try some homemade pie. This is an old fashioned diner with atmosphere to match. It should be busier considering the great food. read more

Spent over 25 dollars for a basic hamburger (without fries or other side) and the "Grilled Chicken Salad," 1 coffee and 1 ice tea. My friend could have got a better hamburger at McDonalds and my salad was very small with very little chicken. The salad did come with yummy toast--sourdough with enough butter to fill in all the holes--good thing as the small parts of the toast that did not have butter was hard as a rock. This is the first time I have been there since the re-opening with new owners. I doubt I will be back. read more

Disgusting!! Your servers wearing tank tops with their bra straps showing and sweats. OMG!! They do not acknowledge you, no smile and basically do not care if the customer gets waited on! And talking on the phone as they are at your table. We have been coming there for years, but enough is enough!! Oh, and the cook talking to herself and taking 35 minutes for 4 hamburgers. WOW! There was one server that actually dressed professionally,acknowledged the customer, smiled, took dirty dishes from the table, kept coffee cups full and thanked you (not just us) but all customers for coming in. We ask where she was this morning. We were told she does not work there anymore. You closed once and I bet you will close again. Without her, we will NOT be back and we will tell everyone we know! read more
