I usually have a great experience with the breakfast burritos. Normally they are big and very packed. But this is the second time I had a bad experience with the Hispanic cook. The first time I ordered a normal burrito with her, I had a small amount of eggs and too much hash browns. This time I removed the hash browns, and ordered extra egg. There was no extra egg and hardly any egg for the size of the burrito. It was definitely smaller and I did not get the extra egg that I paid for. This second bad experience has made me hesitate to support this business because I'm not sure what cook I will get. read more

New to the area and older social media posts said Smitty's had the best breakfast burritos but recent reviews have been mixed. Figured I would give them a try and give an updated review. Walked in on a Saturday morning at 0730 to an empty station. Gave the lady behind the counter my order and she said due to numerous phone in orders, the wait would be about 25-30 minutes. Luckily, there were two bacon breakfast burritos in the warming box that she said were made within the hour and were available for purchase. Since I didn't want to wait that long, I purchased the two. My wife and I thought the breakfast burritos were fantastic. Very large with healthy servings of fried egg, hashbrowns, and bacon. Due to it being pre-made, i'm not sure if there were more options had I custom ordered it but we loved them. There was only one lady that appeared to be working behind the counter and she had alot of phone orders pending. She recommended calling in first which I will definitely do next time. Very pleased with our breakfast burritos and can't wait to try again. read more

One of the only places that is open for breakfast around 6 a.m. in the area and they do a good job at it! It's a very modest spot located inside a gas station with a ski / Lodge theme running throughout. The actual Cafe is located just to the left of the convenience store and is I walk up, order and take your seat type place. Everything is made to order and the ladies making the food were exceptionally nice! There's seating for about 25 people at 6 tables and they bring the food to you after you order. Nothing fancy, but they'll get you your eggs, toast and hashbrowns, or biscuits/gravy on the cheap! A biscuit and gravy was $2.49 and a giant burrito was around $6. The biscuit and gravy was quite good - nice peppery sausage gravy that was made after we ordered and a delicious biscuit to boot. A buddy had eggs and toast, and it too was excellent. This isn't a spot to go find a fancy breakfast, but it's a quintessential breakfast spot for meeting buddies before a day at work or a day of play! Well worth checking out. read more

New owners have ruined it!! So sad this fine establishment has been reduced to what it is today. Whoever the new owners are are going to run this place into the ground within a month. Ordered 4 burgers and a side of fries and waited over an hour for the order to be ready. Upon receiving the order there was no salt on the fries, the burgers were overcooked but cold- like cheese not even melted cold, and my husband's Paul Bunyan burger was missing the ham and bacon. We placed the order in person and sat there inside waiting for our name to be called for the order. So there was no reason for anything to be cold. Also, no fry sauce. The owner/woman working there seemed to blame all the issues on the young man helping her and wasn't afraid to belittle him in front of customers.... Although it took her 10+ minutes to package 4 already done burgers.... So so sad. This was our favorite burger place however we will NEVER BE BACK HERE BECAUSE THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT IN YAKIMA. read more

Why am I reviewing a restaurant located at a gas station? Best burgers in town. {-----period Whether it's the 'log burger,' the 'small paul,' or the 'paul bunyan' burger, you can't go wrong. The burgers are served on a large dinner roll of sorts, and includes ham, bacon, beef, cheese........you'll love it, your stomach will be complete (i.e. "you complete me"), and your arteries will say "hey, what in the hell are you doing?" Next time I head over there, I'll take a picture so you can see the greasy goodness. If you're going to Yakima and someone tells you "you gotta go to miner's," go and then go to smitty's and compare. Or, just go to smitty's and send me a 'thank you' note. read more

Great hidden breakfast and lunch spot. I got a breakfast burrito that was super good and plenty big for two meals. The Cascade platter was good two. Big pancakes. Had some silly idea we needed tots too (saw a review on them being good) they were good but we took most home as there was just too much food. We will be back for a burger! read more

Unexpected. I have been by this place a hundred times and didn't know there was a cafe. Not only that but they sell growlers of beer. It seems to be a lunch destination for the blue collar. Friendly service, clean, and ski lodge motif. Food was par. I will come back for the breakfast next time. read more

So I was honestly looking forward to breakfast at a different place ..but when arrived there was people standing and waiting to be seated ..so yeah I got a bit disappointed because I'm sorry dude but Shari's and dennys breakfast suck! So where to go now I thought....hmmm..waffles cafe?...well sure..so as I'm on my way I think wait a minute i wonder if smitty's on fruitvale has a good breakfast? Worth a shot and sure enough even though menu is small I ordered my personal fave country fried steak with hashbrowns and eggs with toast and 1 pancake.and man the coffee is great a great atmosphere and the food was super good! Ok yes this is inside a gas station, But just like on Diners, drive-in's and dives you can find some of the best food in a gas station. They have the best burgers in town. read more

Rather than write a review I'll just put what I wrote to my gf after eating here a couple times: "I'm not allowed to eat at that burger state again. Its too good. I've been in food coma for the past 2 hours. Not even my iron guy can withstand that greasetrap. I saw whole families and truckers slave to their burgers, rotund and bursting at their seams. It is where lonely and hungry people go to die a slow and delicious death. Please don't let me go again." PROS: ++very tasty which is exceptional for Yakima +cheap + growlers of beer for sale + fry sauce and ranch taste better than other places (but like how??) + people are nice +/- in a gas station? Great burger! The outside may give you pause, but if you want a great burger and onion rings it is worth the stop.

This might be closer to a "4" but I ate at miners yesterday and this is probably a "6" compared to them. Try the Paul Bunyan. You won't be disappointed. It's just like I remember from when I was a kid. read more

Super food!! Friendly service. And if you expect table service and your water filled up go to a non-gas station restaurant. That is why it is cheap and homey. I have never seen anyone do anything gross here. It's clean and respectable. Food is a bit hard on the heart but its a once in a while place for me. Sometimes a reward for the kids!! I hate fancy and love down home. This is probably my favorite place to eat in Yakima. read more
