Absolutely delicious food. My spouse and I both ordered the tikka masala at medium spice, and it was perfect for us. A slight underlying spice, and good powerful flavor. Free refills on rice and good service. It's the best Indian food I have had since I left my home state some 8,000 miles ago. Would definitely suggest! read more

I had high hopes for this place, but the food was a bit disappointing. I ordered the paneer pakora and the food was not hot and the sauces were watered down. For my meal, I got the butter paneer and I got it spicy. It wasn't so much the heat, but lack of flavor that disappointed me. The garlic naan was good but didn't make up for the flavor. Service was excellent, the host knew all the returners. I'm sad this wasn't a hit. read more

It was my first time trying this place so I went safe but let me tell you, I will definitely be back to try alllll the things!! The server working was amazing. He was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating! He answered all the questions we had (the company I was with had never had Indian food). The ambiance was small, quiet and intimate. They have only 9 tables so call ahead if you are planning a bigger group. BUT they are in the process of expanding to a much bigger dining area!! Which will be much more accommodating!! The food was AMAZING. It was so delicious and perfectly cooked! I cannot wait to come back and try more delicious dishes! Definitely worth stopping in and giving them a try! read more

We had a great dinner here. I have been to many Indian restaurants and they have the best mint sauce I have had. All the food was really great. The spice level was very nice, it was or first time here and we got medium and it had heat but not extreme. The service was good too. If we lived in Yakima we would definitely be regulars. read more

Usually restaurants at this location don't stay open very long, but I hope that is not the case with the spice! Me and my wife had their food the other day and it was five star. They're puffy bread. Oh my God! So good that I had there their butter chicken. So delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant over and over again read more

A Hidden Gem for Authentic Indian Cuisine in Yakima. As someone who frequently enjoys authentic Indian cuisine, especially with the abundance of excellent options in Seattle and its surrounding cities, including Indian-style burgers, pizzas, and even bakeries, I wasn't expecting to find something comparable in Yakima. But while searching for a lunch spot, I came across The Spice, an Indian restaurant that had incredibly high ratings. Though I hesitated at first, the reviews convinced me to give it a try. I'm glad I did. From the moment the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors were on par with some of the best Indian dishes I've had in the Seattle area. Rich, authentic, and perfectly seasoned. The service was equally impressive, warm, attentive, and welcoming. It's no wonder the place had a steady flow of dine-in customers and frequent pickup orders during my visit. If you're a local craving something exotic or just passing through Yakima and in the mood for Indian food, The Spice is a must-visit. It's the kind of place where a hungry traveler can enjoy a comforting meal and feel genuinely cared for. Parking: Plenty of free parking exclusive to the restaurant. Service: Friendly and attentive. The staff is happy to explain the menu, so don't hesitate to ask questions before ordering. Food: Authentic and traditional Indian cuisine with customizable spice levels. Pricing: Very reasonable, especially if you're used to Seattle prices. read more

First the food was absolutely amazing. The service was prompt and very kind. Many stories were told and enjoyed with our food The restaurant may be a little hard to see at first but you must try it!! read more

Love love love! I've been passing by and been wanting to try and stopped in for lunch just for a bite and the food was amazing! The food was so flavorful and the portions were pretty large that we had leftovers. The chicken korma we got as hot and the cashew base seemed to mellow it out but it was so flavorful and delicious. Not pictured was the homemade mango kulfi, this was sweet but so refreshing. The Gulab Jamun was very delicious but verrrryyy sweet! the cardamom syrup was very strong and rich. The salmon was cooked to perfection! it was crispy outside but still moist inside. the rose(water) lassi was sweet with a light hint of rose but had a nice bitter tartness from the yogurt base. The chai was sweet yet very flavorful and fragrant. Overall the staff so super helpful and informative on the food. The food itself was outstanding and this may just be my new Indian spot for town. read more

Incredible food and even better service! We ordered quite a bit of food and were planning to take it back to our hotel but couldn't wait and started eating in the car. Phenomenal place in the heart of Yakima. I moved away in August and really hope to return soon. The place is fantastic. I have been here twice so far and the food is top-notch. I always have the Chicken Coconut Curry. They put onions and peppers into the curry sauce, and the chicken is always tender. The naan bread is DELICIOUS!!! The restaurant is small - yet the quiet Indian instrumentals and the scenic views of the country on the televisions provide a relaxing atmosphere. Well done crew, I miss this place dearly. read more

I've been to so many Indian restaurants throughout the u.s and this one is pretty mid. The butter chicken and tikka masala is very bland, was lacking flavor. The cheese naan was great though but the cheese is very subtle, but overall good texture and good portion size. The rice was also a generous amount but it tasted like sink water to me. The platter sampler was $12 and all you get is 4 small pieces of meat, not worth it in my opinion, it was good though but overpriced. We probably won't be coming back. This is the place I compare other Indian restaurants to, every time we come to this spot, the same guy greets us with a smile and is very polite and friendly. The food is FANTASTIC, highly recommend this place to anyone who want to they something new. My first time here was with my girlfriend, we had butter chicken, garlic Naan, samosas and Indian chai, and it was a "little different" to me since I'm used to Mexican and American cuisine restaurants. But this place is definitely my favorite, we get the same thing every time, and plan to support this small business for years to come. read more

Unexpected gem in Yakima- definitely worth the drive through town if you are just passing through. If you live in Yakima, lucky you! Delicious, authentic Indian food with many options for a wide variety of eaters: carnivores, vegetarians, and gluten free. The service was excellent- we asked for recommendations and weren't disappointed. We are vegetarian and started out with the samosa chaat and hot chai. After we cleaned up our plates, we had malai kofta and aloo gobhi served with seasoned rice, garlic naan, and aloo paratha. The host, whom we assume was the owner, was kind, welcoming, genuine, and attentive. We will be back! read more

If it was only about the food, they'd get five stars, unfortunately when I weigh in the service, that pulled them down to four stars. The food was fantastic. I can't say enough, good things about it. It was tasty, spicy, and served quickly. There was an issue with the service. We had two servers, one female and one male. The female was friendly, but only helped us with our drinks and to pay the bill. The male took our order and delivered our food. He made us feel extremely uncomfortable. When we placed our order, we specifically stated it was our first time and needed help, he didn't respond and basically said what do you want. Then when he delivered the food, he sat everything in front of us and left. We didn't know what was what. We'll probably go back if we are ever in town again, but the service was disappointing. read more

The food was amazing. Not sure if it's worth the price though. I used doordash because I was sent a gift card, and I ordered 3 different entrees, a dessert, and 3 sides of naan. When I picked it up, I got 3 containers with the different entrees, 2 containers of rice and the $5 was just a SMALL scoop of mango "ice cream". It was delicious...but a small condiment container for $5?? Crazy. We got a ton of naan though, and it was a good introduction to Indian foor for my kid read more

Be very wary ordering to go and leaving without checking what is in your bag. We paid for two orders of curry and got one small side of rice, and when we called, they told us thats just the way it is! We were huge supporters of this place when they opened, and now would much rather go to Taj Palace, where you actually get enough food to justify the amount you spend. FYI, the rice is "complementary" with the curry according to whoever we spoke to.. I personally have never made curry and drank it straight, but I guess to each their own! read more

Just had dinner here, needless to say I am pretty underwhelmed with the flavor I was expecting more because of the great reviews. This is the first time I have had Indian food and was supper excided to try it. I got the Butter chicken (medium heat), and hubby got the Garlic herb salmon and a order of garlic naan. Okay lets start with husbands dish, it comes out on a sizzling hot plate with some onion, bell peppers and a small slice of lime(no rice or any other side dish). Now mind you the dish looked good, but it only had like 10 cubs of salmon and he said it needed more garlic flavor, he shared my rice. Now on to mine like I said I ordered medium heat there was no spice to it at all and it was very lacking in any flavor. I am not saying we won't go back and give it another try but it might not be for a while. I guess for paying almost 60 dollars I was expecting more. read more

The Spice is a new restaurant in Yakima, having only been open for three months. This is a GREAT Indian restaurant, and I've been to many while living in the Los Angeles area for 42 years. My wife and I were in Yakima from Ellensburg, finished shopping at Home Depot, and we wanted something good at 7:45pm on a Sunday night. Indian food immediately caught our eye, since we don't have great Indian food in E-Burg. We were immediately impressed that the place was busy late on Sunday. The menu was deep, with everything one would expect from a good Indian restaurant. I was particularly excited to have their Tandoori Chicken, which came on sizzling plate. It was PERFECT! I even ordered a second helping to go! We also had samosas, and naan, which were both excellent. The service was very good, and the staff super friendly. I plan to make a return trip when I go to Yakima to get my snow tires put on. read more

Offers Delivery via DoorDash - & oh my goodness the best Tandoori chicken I've had in years! Ate so fast I didn't get any photos of the chai, lasso or chicken. Definite recommend! & it should be noted they whipped together my order within last 45 min of their closing... so impressive! (I have accessibility needs, so couldn't order until I was back hm from my nieces wedding reception... I was so impressed they didn't cancel my order.) read more

My wife and I have waited months to see this place finally open up as we both love Indian food and wanted more of it in Yakima. Bottom line: we were quite happy with our experience this evening. The building is small so it limits their seating inside, and they might be a little ambitious with the number of tables, but as long as you're okay with being close to your neighbors it shouldn't bother you much. The waitress was very nice and never let our water glasses run dry. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala and my wife had the Chicken Curry. We both liked the tikka masala sauce more than the curry, but the curry was still good. The portions are average and we left with full bellies. The Garlic Naan was very good as were the Vegetables Somosas. We will definitely be going back often. read more
