I had high hopes for this place, but the food was a bit disappointing. I ordered the paneer pakora and the food was not hot and the sauces were watered down. For my meal, I got the butter paneer and I got it spicy. It wasn't so much the heat, but lack of flavor that disappointed me. The garlic naan was good but didn't make up for the flavor. It was my first time trying this place so I went safe but let me tell you, I will definitely be back to try alllll the things!! The server working was amazing. He was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating! He answered all the questions we had (the company I was with had never had Indian food). The ambiance was small, quiet and intimate. They have only 9 tables so call ahead if you are planning a bigger group. BUT they are in the process of expanding to a much bigger dining area!! Which will be much more accommodating!! The food was so flavorful and the portions were pretty large that we had leftovers. The chicken korma we got as hot and the cashew base seemed to mellow it out but it was so flavorful and delicious. Not pictured was the homemade mango kulfi, this was sweet but so refreshing. The Gulab Jamun was very delicious but verrrryyy sweet! the cardamom syrup was very strong and rich. The salmon was cooked to perfection! it was crispy outside but still moist inside. the rose(water) lassi was sweet with a light hint of rose but had a nice bitter tartness from the yogurt base. The chai was sweet yet very flavorful and fragrant. Overall the staff so super helpful and informative on the food. Phenomenal place in the heart of Yakima. I moved away in August and really hope to return soon. The place is fantastic. I have been here twice so far and the food is top-notch. I always have the Chicken Coconut Curry. They put onions and peppers into the curry sauce, and the chicken is always tender. The naan bread is DELICIOUS!!! I've been to so many Indian restaurants throughout the u.s and this one is pretty mid. The butter chicken and tikka masala is very bland, was lacking flavor. The cheese naan was great though but the cheese is very subtle, but overall good texture and good portion size. The rice was also a generous amount but it tasted like sink water to me. The platter sampler was $12 and all you get is 4 small pieces of meat, not worth it in my opinion, it was good though but overpriced. We probably won't be coming back. This is the place I compare other Indian restaurants to, every time we come to this spot, the same guy greets us with a smile and is very polite and friendly. The food is FANTASTIC, highly recommend this place to anyone who want to they something new. My first time here was with my girlfriend, we had butter chicken, garlic Naan, samosas and Indian chai, and it was a "little different" to me since I'm used to Mexican and American cuisine restaurants. It was tasty, spicy, and served quickly. There was an issue with the service. We had two servers, one female and one male. The female was friendly, but only helped us with our drinks and to pay the bill. The male took our order and delivered our food. He made us feel extremely uncomfortable. When we placed our order, we specifically stated it was our first time and needed help, he didn't respond and basically said what do you want. Then when he delivered the food, he sat everything in front of us and left. We didn't know what was what. This is the first time I have had Indian food and was supper excided to try it. I got the Butter chicken (medium heat), and hubby got the Garlic herb salmon and a order of garlic naan. Okay lets start with husbands dish, it comes out on a sizzling hot plate with some onion, bell peppers and a small slice of lime(no rice or any other side dish). Now mind you the dish looked good, but it only had like 10 cubs of salmon and he said it needed more garlic flavor, he shared my rice. Now on to mine like I said I ordered medium heat there was no spice to it at all and it was very lacking in any flavor. The Spice is a new restaurant in Yakima, having only been open for three months. This is a GREAT Indian restaurant, and I've been to many while living in the Los Angeles area for 42 years. My wife and I were in Yakima from Ellensburg, finished shopping at Home Depot, and we wanted something good at 7:45pm on a Sunday night. Indian food immediately caught our eye, since we don't have great Indian food in E-Burg. We were immediately impressed that the place was busy late on Sunday. The menu was deep, with everything one would expect from a good Indian restaurant. I was particularly excited to have their Tandoori Chicken, which came on sizzling plate. It was PERFECT! I even ordered a second helping to go! We also had samosas, and naan, which were both excellent. The service was very good, and the staff super friendly. My wife and I have waited months to see this place finally open up as we both love Indian food and wanted more of it in Yakima. Bottom line: we were quite happy with our experience this evening. The building is small so it limits their seating inside, and they might be a little ambitious with the number of tables, but as long as you're okay with being close to your neighbors it shouldn't bother you much. The waitress was very nice and never let our water glasses run dry. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala and my wife had the Chicken Curry. We both liked the tikka masala sauce more than the curry, but the curry was still good. The portions are average and we left with full bellies.
