The food was not great, except for the Mac and Cheese. My son didn't finish his BBQ brisket because it just wasn't that good. It was over cooked or a poor piece of meat to start with. I ordered a loaded baked potato but apparently they were out of potatoes (???) so the cook decided to give me hash browns with the toppings instead. I would have liked the choice of fries or tots, but he just swapped them out without asking. Very odd decision. The band was doing a sound test and was blowing the place out with LOUD guitars and lots of feedback. We couldn't talk to each other and even our teenage daughter had to cover her ears because it was sooooo loud. We were completely unable to have any conversation and our waitress had to shout at us to communicate anything at all. That is not our idea of entertainment. I have tried this place 3 different times. It just keeps getting worse and worse. First time I got a burger. It was ok but very small. Second time it was taco Tuesday so I got the pulled pork tacos and brisket tacos. The meat was horrible. The last time I tried a prime rib. The WORST prime rib I have ever seen or tasted in my life. 10oz primed rib with maybe 2oz of actually meat. The rest was fat. They had the nerve to charge $36 for it. They claim they were voted best BBQ in 2025. The people that voted must not have taste buds. Dickies BBQ blows this place away which is just sad. Came in for dinner advertised their BBQ which is hard to find in this state. Worst food I've ever had. The pulled pork was dry and hard, the brisket as well and the ribs were also hard and stuck on the bone.. The Mac and cheese was atleast two days old and the chili. As well inwpuld guess the meat was reheated atleast three times. Not fresh at all.. Too bad considering the sampler BBQ plate was $44. Entryway is creative, feels as if you're walking into a mine. Liked all the antique pictures and open interior. Waitstaff were attentive although a little confused at times (there was a new ordering system). Our appetizer (garlic tots) arrived last and were ok, could've used more garlic. We've been to this place at two different times. Once when they first opened and just tonight (August 2025). We usually stop in for random drinks and I love the atmosphere of this place. The bartenders are super friendly and their recommendations are always spot on. read more

We used Door Dash and ordered our meal. I ordered a Prime rib Basket. The menu says it is typically chunks of Primerib served with fries, au jus and toast. I added an extra side, which was Mac and cheese. What came was shaved meat sitting in a sweet grease. It was so greasy that the toast was soggy. There were no fries. The Mac and cheese was good. My husband ordered fish and chips. There were no fries only the Mac and cheese. I tried to call. I was sent to a voice mail, where a curt voice said, "leave a message" and then, "This mailbox is full." This was not a cheap meal. I was looking forward to trying out this new location since Roosters had moved here. They certainly needed a new home. However, not only was my food TASTELESS!! but while sitting in the restaurant someone brought in a new Rifle they had won to show it off. He was passing it around for other customers to hold and inspect. OH MY GAWD! I almost called the local Police station! I can't believe I just watched those fools pass that rifle around indoors. That was so STUPID! The servers forgot about us, so the service was lousy, then I had to listen to this horrible old fart insult a deceased Former President of the United State's, while His partner kept asking him to "Shut up" The ignorance and stupidity that came out of that fools mouth was alarming. I refrained from saying something to him mostly cause she was truly trying to shut him up on her own. I'm pretty sure that old Fool would have not been smart enough himself to graduate from the Naval Academy. It was obvious his lack of intelligence showed in every sentence he uttered . NO Im not a Liberal, this is just plain about Respect! This fool has none! I DID NOT FEEL SAFE there because of that stupid rifle being passed around and the staff members doing NOTHiNG about it. They are truly lucky I did not call the local Police. HOLY CRAP! Don't waste your time or money on the food and drinks here or the Lousy atmosphere. They didn't even try to remodel. I would give them negative stars if I could. First time I went they had just opened so I gave them the benefit of the doubt to work out there kinks but didn't expect no much to go wrong since they were also the owners of the red rooster bar and grill. Second time I went was about two months since they had been open. It was me and nine other family members in one group. We were there for dinner. There were only two other couples in there for dinner so it wasn't busy by any means. It took us almost 1 HOUR to get our food. They also forgot half our appetizers. The icing on top was when I ordered the most basic thing which was chicken strips and fries. Everyone in my family got there food before me. When I asked where mine was they said they had to change the fryer oil which took another 20 minutes. By the time I got my food I had to get a box because everyone was getting ready to leave. Also the chicken strips were on the kids menu. They have it written on there menu that if you are over 13 and you order ANYTHING off the kids menu it is a $3.00 up charge for some reason. The waitress assured me multiple times that they just changed that and they had and adult size chicken strip platter so I would get more food with to extra $3.00. When they finally brought it out it came to light that l they lied and I got to kids size as someone in my family order the chicken strips off the kids menu before they changed the fryer oil. Overall worst place I've been to and the boss treats the place like his own personal bar and has no problem drinking which on the job working there. This really bugs me as my family were the last owners of the Selah mining company 10+ years ago when it was the best restaurant and bar in yakima county. They new owner wanted to bring it back like we had it. Definitely looks the same on the inside but the food and service are a negative star review compared to when my family were the owners 10+ years ago. If you have read this far I would suggest never going there. read more

I grew up with the Selah Mining Company as a landmark with ok food and really cool ambience. I never went to Daniel's, but I am glad they brought the SMC back. We went to lunch today and had a great lunch. The pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal. I was expecting some good barbecue pork, but was blown away by the fact that they grilled the pulled pork on the flat-top to give it a bit of a crunchy char. Amazing. Food came out fast, but not too fast, and they have kept a lot of the old SMC charm, except I missed the mining sounds when entering the "mine" entrance ( small stuff). I would like to see the center "banquet hall" looking tables replaced with something a bit more fitting a great barbecue and steak place, and the wait-staff needs a bit more practice to iron out the kinks. But that all will come. read more

First of all, my husband and I did not know this place had changed "hands". When we walked into the restuarant we could smell cigarette smoke to the max! Tried to think maybe it was because people were smoking in the bar area? Nope, it filtered thickly out into the restuarant area where the people sat at booths to eat food. We each ordered a breakfast item and the "Special" I had was $15! French toast, 2 eggs any style and choice of hashbrowns or fried potatoes with green peppers and onions. I chose the fried potatoes with green peppers and onions with my french toast meal. My husband ordered 2 eggs, over easy, which were perfectly cooked, hashbrowns choice of toast or English muffin and ham for $14. My husband's food was cooked great but my meal came and I got hashbrowns with my meal. Rather then to wave the waitress down and inform her that I ordered the fried potatoes with green peppers and onions I decided to just go ahead and eat some of the hashbrowns. When the waitress came back to ask if everything was okay, I did mention to her it was all fine but I ordered the fried potatoes with green peppers and onions and not the hashbrowns but excused her and said that's okay, just letting you know. When we were done eating and ready to go we stood at the front door area where I thought that's where to pay and the same waitress said she would get the check for me. I waited and she handed me the bill. The bill, at the bottom of the tape specifies total (chash) amount and then total (non-cash) amount. Wow.... I paid with a $50 bill. The bill, by paying cash, came to $31.41. If I would have paid with a debit card or credit card, the bill would have been $32.67. Just a heads up folks. Pay cash or get charged automatically if you pay with debit card or credit card. The waitress took off with my money and came back and flopped the wad of cash and receipt in my hand and walked off. She never counted the money back to me and she short changed me! I stood there counting the money back that she gave me and I got exactly $18, back. She owed me .59 cents. Again, the waitress had disappeared so I just left. Unfortunetly, my husband left a tip at the table or I would have not left a tip! I will NEVER go back there EVER! The owner's that had this restuarant were family oriented and had young teens waitressing and were so pleasant. I did not know this place changed hands. I learned the owners of Red Rooster Bar in Selah had bought this place and moved there. Very dissatisfied and horrified customer. How rude of the waitress to act the way she did. I certainly planned on paying for our food even though I did not get what I ordered and ate some of it but it's bad service to at least not to take some kind of price off my breakfast and then to not know the "rules" to either pay in cash or get fined. the food is sub par at best. it takes an hour to get to your table and when it does it is cold. the service is mediocre and nothing to write home about as they don't really seem to enjoy being there or serving you. the ambiance is good, I enjoy the pictures and the aesthetic but I will say this, out of every restaurant in Selah I will not be returning to this one. read more
