We came in with a large group (we are soldiers) and the service was amazing. Everything was absolutely great. The customer service from the moment we walked in was perfect, the food portions versus the price are great, the quality of the food was amazing. I had absolutely nothing to complain about. I'm Mexican and I am picky about my Mexican food and when I first heard about this place I was a little adamant about going because of the past reviews so, I took a chance on them and boy, am I happy I did. I don't know why they don't have the best reviews but, the two times I have been there so far, I have been treated with excellent service on both occasions and their food is an A+ in my opinion. The restaurant is also very clean and it was a nice ambience when you walk in, you almost don't ever want to leave. I always get the combo plate with a margarita and they serve you more than enough (I have always had to take home leftovers). Well-balanced, well-priced (aka reasonable) Tex-Mex. They claim the best Mole in Washington, but we couldn't eat the chicken stock in it so we can't comment :(! We had chilaquiles and a cheese enchiladas. The sauce on the chilaquiles was nice, the chips were still crisp, and the eggs well cooked. The enchilada had a great red sauce, good cheese, and nice rice and beans. Food for the price was a 4.5 / 5. Décor is a huge sore spot. They really need to knock down a bunch of the dividers and open the place up. The color scheme is black and dark red, which is a little gloomy. Some of the booths have cloth backs that look a little trashy. The hung dried chiles and lackluster art leave much to be desired. We came very late on a Friday night and the service was friendly and quick. I was surprised by how well they made over the interior of the old Skipper's, it felt nice inside. I was surprised by the lame pictures they had hanging on the wall. Everything else was so pretty but the tacky warped pictures that looked fresh out of my grandma's basement really stood out in a bad way. The art of mexico is so beautiful, it was really weird that they had such tacky framed "art." We ordered their house margarita, which wasn't very strong at all and I'm a lightweight, so I can't usually finish a drink but i finished mine & my husband's and still never felt even the slightest bit buzzed. For $10, that kind of sucks. We also got the Carne Azada, which my mouth waters just to think about, it was absolutely delicious. I got the Mole Oaxaca (I think) and it was phenomenal. I love mole and this had a lot of flavor, spicy but not too much heat, the flavor was out of this world. For dessert we ordered a dish with bananas in a Kahlua sauce with ice cream. I wouldn't order that again. maybe it' snot my thing. The texture of the bananas was strange and I didn't taste any Kahlua in the sauce. Xochimilco has tasty food, but I wish it could do something about its interior. It was kind of like eating in a dungeon. A little on the dreary side, my friends. But maybe it's lighter in the daytime? What it lacked in decor, it made up for in the carne asada burrito and the al pastor. Call me American, but every once in a while I want my Mexican food served to me on a scorching hot, manhole cover-sized platter. And Xochimilco succeeds in this regard! I decided to have lunch here today since I was coming to Yakima to pick up a puppy. I wish I had asked my breeder where to eat instead of picking this place. My lunch was $17 including tip which was outrageous. All I had was a combo plate of a chicken enchilada and a very small cheese chile relleno which came with rice and beans and I had a soft drink. My favorite taco truck in White Center (Seattle) has much better food at a third of the cost. There was a sprinkling of iceberg lettuce instead of a salad. The food was covered with cheese instead of just a garnish of cheese. I was so disappointed at the quality, the presentation and the exorbitant price. The restaurant has seen better days. The booths had badly ripped vinyl seats and sadly stained upholstered backs. The carpet needs to be replaced. The decor is very dated. I was tempted to peek in the kitchen but was afraid to. Really NICE people. Some of our food was delicious.--some not..The fajita meat was very tough and chewy but the veges were good.Creamy chicken was good as were the enchiladas with the green sauce. They may be known for their mole sauce but they were out of it, as someone else posted. WARNING: there is peanut butter in the red enchilada sauce. Dimly lit romantic place. Best. We ordered the usual steak fajitas. It was obviously a House recipe instead of the typical greasy salty flavor. This was sweet and lightly spicy. An order for one was more than enough for us 2 plus we had some to take home. Asked for extra flour tortillas and there was no charge for them. That's a good sign of better than the typical place. The dipping sauce is spicy. Great for helping get those margaritas down. We had the cabo Rita. Great flavor with respectable amount of teq. We also had a mango. It was phenomenal BUT I don't think it had any teq. In it. That was my only disappointment. We were looking for a quiet dimly lit place. This was perfect. Most everyone there were couples. Not your basic Mexican restaurant. The music was at a perfect volume. Music was great and not your typical Mexican restaurant music. Very classy place without being snobbish. Servers were dressed nicely. Just can't say enough about this place. We've eaten at 100's of Mexican and Texmex places from Texas to Florida to the northwest and this is the nicest place for the money. 14.99 for fajitas. 8.50 for Rita,a little spendy. I'd rather spend a little more than feel like I'm in a hog house with 100 other guests. This is your romantic dinner place, not my choice for greasy Mexican lunch on Black Friday. Visited Yakima Valley over the 4th of July weekend. After a hot afternoon cycling through area vineyards we were looking for something nourishing and fun. We found it at Xochimilco. Our waitress was very courteous, helpful with drink and entree selections and offered to swap out my wife's margarita when it arrived with salt on the glass rim. She decided to keep the the beverage and ordered a second with her meal. I ordered the Mexican Molcajete and my wife had the Camarones Ala Plancha. Our meals were especially tasty and expertly presented. The portions were very generous in my opinion and made for a great meal the next evening after a day long drive back to the East Side. Very authentic and classy with music selection with more of a coastal feel more reminiscent of Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. I suggest this place if you're in town. read more

Regarding the Nob Hill location: A friend and I received a to-go order so we can't say much about the service or ambiance. While their chicken chimichanga was not bad (nothing noteworthy though), the rice and beans was about as cold as could be by the time we made the 3 minute trip home. Worst yet the rice was terribly undercooked, like borderline raw. Both meals were this way. I was surprised they did not have what I would consider two Mexican staples: Tortas and Sopitos, really neither!?! Lastly waaay overpriced, 2 basic meals was about the same price as our 3 person usual go-to for mexican food, for a much better experience try antojitos mexicanos (closed Mondays, which is why we tried this place). Finally checked this place out after years of just driving by it. Friend suggested it for lunch. Was very dark inside but got a table next to the window. Complementary chips were tasty and different colors, but the salsa bowl was tiny compared to what I've seen at other Mexican restaurants. Selected the macho burrito with shredded beef, meat was seasoned quite well and had the right amount of rice, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and sauce. I ate it all up! We ordered for take out. Server that helped me was very nice and explained everything I questioned. We had shredded beef enchiladas mexicana, California burrito and the flautas. The food was very good. Salsa that came with the chips was a little spicy for me but my husband enjoyed it. Fabulous renovation of an old Skippers restaurant - you'd never know it from inside. Very warm and friendly. The food is out of this world. I had the Tacos al Cabon which were 3 homemade corn tortillas filled with spicy steak. It was served with rice & homemade beans, great guacamole and a salsa picante that is out of this world. They aren't afraid to spice up their dishes, either. The salsa has big chunks of jalapeno and the enchiladas are perfectly spicy. They offer a large selection of mariscos and camarone dishes, including campechana, which I loved in Puerta Vallarta. They serve three sizes of margaritas, the biggest of which would make a great fishbowl. The 'ritas are fresh too. All in all, a great alternative to Santiago's downtown for authentic Mexican style cooking. read more

The staff is friendly, sometimes. I went in to place a to go order and was completely ignored for ten minutes before finally getting fed up and leaving. The restaurant was not that busy.
