Restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel so we met up with other members of the family for lunch. Chips did not appear to be handmade and waitress didn't bother to ask if we wanted more (we were a party of 11). Mexican food was just okay (I have had better and also worse). My enchiladas were more cheese than meat in terms of the filling. read more

We had a great experience at El Portón. Located right next to our hotel, we wandered over for food and drinks. The service was great-very friendly but gave you space as needed, and even extended the happy hour special for us. Margaritas were great. Salsa has a good kick. We split the potato nachos, which were basically Mexican potato skins and very good. I definitely recommend and question the low rating. read more

El Porton - Mexican Near Me - Zillah, Washington

The last two times I ordered to go my food was wrong. Today the Chile Colorado was tough like the quality of meet was not as good as it had been. I think they may be using a cheaper cut of meat due to price increases, which in this economy is understandable. Though it should be cooked longer so it not tough and rubbery. read more

Prices went up I guess another fire will happen soon to remodel the owners are legit commiting insurance fraud on every location they have just to rebuild I truly believe they have someone on the inside helping those claims get approved none the less the portions I've noticed smaller the beans are old n never fresh most wouldn't know I suppose bc they refry them always the staff is slow just not the same n that's due to greed they don't deserve any stars bc they cut corners on their food only yt people love this place us Hispanics just go bc the yt people want too STOP SUPPORTING OWNERS LIKE THESE THEY GIVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BACK TO THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE IN read more

Tried this place several years ago before I became a yelper, and it still as good as it was then. Had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas, and they were perfect. The meal of course came with the typical chips and salsa, but the salsa was really good. The service was super despite being a busy Friday night with almost no empty seats in the place. Place had very happy customers and employees. read more

Five stars for accommodating our party of 19 with an hour notice plus the food was delicious. We stayed at the Best Western next door, so it was convenient. The ultimate fajitas is great for sharing, and they'll make sure you have enough tortillas to go around. Lots of meat and veggies, which gave everyone exactly what they wanted. Our server was outstanding with kindness, patience, and helpful suggestions. For being in the middle of nowhere, I'm surprised at their attention to detail (we find that a lot of lone restaurants figure they don't have to try because they're the only option around). I look forward to stopping when we're passing through! read more

El Porton - The Ultimate Fajitas shared among four adults - Mexican Near Me - Zillah, Washington

Their Ranchero burritos and salsa are amazing and the eat I've ever had. I was passing through for work and I'll make sure to stop in again. You won't be sorry. The service was great, atmosphere is exactly as you would expect in a Mexican restaurant but I can't get over the food. I purchased a large container of salsa to go. I've never asked for salsa at other restaurants but this was worth it. read more

Everyone around us was getting served drinks, dinner, etc. while we sat and waited for 20 minutes. We were literally ignored. After 25 minutes our food order was taken. Party of 9. Meals came out in intervals, I was done eating when my grandsons food had just arrived. 2 entrees were incorrect. The restaurant was not busy at all, 4 or 5 tables in addition to ours. Will not go back after the Manager refused to acknowledge that we received bad service. Manager told us that the smaller tables get service before larger tables........ I ordered lemon for my water, never received it even after being told I didn't get it. Entrees were misplaced when served and the server didn't care. We were treated horribly. I pulled the cash tip from the table after the conversation with the Manager. That kind of attitude/behavior, and poor service does not deserve a tip! Please, see attached photo of another review. This is scary and I will never ever recommend or go back to El Porton! read more

Have been here several times. I consider their Mexican food as good as any. Friendly service and large portions.

4 min off the highway was why we stopped, but the pork enchilada was why I'd stop again! Yum! Chicken tacos were ok, plentiful but not a lot of flavor....the salsa instantly made them bomb! Yum! The verde salsa... too...so good. I could drink either of them. The guac was amazing as well. Chips were fresh and staff was very nice. Place was clean, they are following covid and even have an outside tent with a heater. read more

Solid food for a Mexican restaurant, but watch out for tourist pricing. We ordered two entrees, (Carne Asada and Pollo Con Cilantro) which were tasty and large, an appetizer, plus two margaritas. The price was close to $70 dollars, I was shocked but we were rushing to Walla Walla to meet friends, so I dismissed it till later. I searched Yelped for menu pictures and everything I saw was 10.99. They don't have a website, shocked since at these prices they should be able to afford a graphic designer. So, I must have been given the tourist passing through discount. If you stop by for food great, but check the menu and take notice of the price before you order. read more

Pollo a la crema is my favorite! Chips and salsa are yummy. Food is always good. Never disappoints.

Ordered taco salads for take out. Received one paper thin slice of tomato on a gob of thin sliced stale lettuce and a chicken breast that was in clumps instead of "shredded" as advertise. Pretty mediocre. read more

We found this restaurant because we drove through Toppenish to find the Car Wash next door to it...and we were hungry so we came here first. Chips did not appear to be homemade but were warm and crispy and the salsa was EXCELLENT This is a great stop for travelers just off the highway. If you CAN drive through Toppenish we highly recommend you take your time if you enjoy really beautiful murals on buildings. Toppenish sports some of the nicest we've ever found and THEY ARE EVERYWHERE The food is good here. My husband likes Huevos Rancheros and even though they are not officially on the lunch menu, they are available upon request. He substituted rice for extra beans and enjoyed both whole Black and Pinto beans. They also have refried. His plate was HUGE. We had to take some beans to go. I had an a la carte Chile Relleno. It appeared to be more of just chilies and cheese inside cooked egg and rolled up...topped with sauce and LOTS more cheese. Very tasty and freshly made. So often restaurants make them ahead and nuke them to reheat. This did not appear to be a traditional dipped whole stuffed pepper but rather a delicious untraditional freshly made simulated Chile Relleno. If you are vegetarian check out the veggies section. I'm thinking that pile of veggies someone pictured is that middle vegetarian meal. I love home cooked flan. This was VERY SWEET so great to share as it satisfies the sweet tooth quickly. It wasn't my most favorite flan but it still hit the spot and I would order it again. read more

Let's just say when I eat at this location it's like I am eating in El Paso. Finally came across a restaurant that tastes authentic. Even better, their beans are pork free yet so delicious. I can actually eat their beans and not have to go for double rice. Getting seated can be tricky as there doesn't seem to be a designated hostess. Whoever passes by will seat you if they're free. I've had their mole enchiladas and their chicken is so tender. The corn tortillas are just falling apart that's how good they are. The beans are delish. Everything is awesome here. I am so glad I found this location. I always visit when I'm in toppenish. read more

Yep, this defiantly happened. I didn't think I was going to try this little gem, but I did with my family. We walked in and was seated right away. I then decided I wasn't eating the rest of the evening sooo I got something BIG and new. I tried the chicken veggie stir fry. Holy Mole, this was amazing in flavors. The smell was really interested. It smelt like Asian stir fry, but tasted like Mexican food. It had mushrooms, pepper, zucchini, onions, carrots, and speared avocados with delicious flavorful cooked to perfection chicken. Chicken breast in case you were wondering. I love it. Don't forget chips and salsa is served: complimentary. The chicken and veggies were served over Monterrey jack cheese and Mexican rice, now this is what I'm talking about. I took one bit and didn't think I was going to even eat three tacos. I was more hungry than I thought. I wasn't even FULL. I just had to stop eating. I normally ALWAYS get the carne asada, but my friends boyfriend did so I tired it JUST to make sure it was flavorful meat, with seasonings that made the meat of sooo delicious. I ended up having it was my avocado spears on a tortilla. So delicious. I heard the Cheladas are PERFECT. I haven't had a margarita since they re opened, but this use to be the spot. BIG, tasty, and would knock you out of your socks too... overall I love this place so goooooo already! read more

The best salsa and chips around Carna Sada is really good also great veggie burritos nice staff, clean restaurant

Always great food and great service! Some of the best mexican food I have ever eaten and a very friendly staff.

I haven't been here in a few years, so we'd thought we would drive up to Zillah and give it a shot. It was daily busy so that's a good sign. I got the Pollo A la crema and my spouse got the carne asada. The pollo was bland and had corn in it? Haven't seen that before. Weird, and not good for this recipe. I also ordered flour tortillas - and got corn. Didn't bother mentioning the error - I'm easy. My spouse's asada was good in flavor, but was a small portion (even for lunch). The male waiter was working hard and seemed efficient but lacked any social skills to make us feel special. Just all business. No smile or facial expressions. Service was very very slow, but I can understand that with a lunch rush, and we are not impatient people. Anyway, won't be coming back here anytime soon with much better options available. ‍ read more

A lot of times, when you order a giant meal, you sacrifice flavor... But 3 of us took a chance on the giant fajita. Winning! It tasted great, had plenty of shrimp, the mushrooms were piled high... We had a group of 20 people and the flavor and quality of food was great. They did a great job of keeping us in chips and water and drinks. Small town place, bug city service. I would eat here again with no issues. read more

The food here is a 5 star! The owners & staff get a 5 star as well. The overall experience is not worth dinning in, it gets 2 stars. The owners & staff do nothing to control the customers voice levels. The octaves in that place are ear piercing. If they would just tell the customers "Hey your a bit loud could you lower your voices please". But I'm sure somebody will get offended n offended by this review. New to the area I'd seen how busy the restaurant was and being a big fan of Mexican food was excited to stop. As you can see by the rating I was not impressed. The entire experience was less than satisfying. The server was not friendly, the food (a combination plate with enchilada, relleno, and something else) were pasty and without flavor. Being thankful for not getting sick was the highlight. I keep thinking I should give it a second try but on an area with so many good prices Mexican restaurants it will take time... read more

We dined in at El Porton in Zillah, Washington, on Oct.31, 2020, and paid by credit card. The next day our credit card was used fraudulently for numerous purchases from Zillah for beauty products, food, clothing, and other items. The owner seemed unconcerned. read more

Recommended by a friend while we are here from out of town. The food was phenomenal! I grew up over here and then moved to Western Washington. Eating at a Mexican Restaurant in Eastern Washington for the first time in 20 years made me realize that HUGE difference between Mexican Food here and what they call Mexican Food in Western Washington. There is NO comparison. The food was outstanding. The place was packed with only 2 servers and a bus boy and yet they managed to stay on top of everything with a smile and jokes. This will be our go to of we ever come back to Yakima! read more

The worst place I have ever been. As soon as I walked in, it was negative all around. the staff did not even want to acknowledge or speak to me. All attention was directed to my wife. Horrible service. Went out with my husband and kids. Waited an entire hour waiting for our food to arrive. Waitress came out twice saying it's almost ready.
