Our local Selah El Cap is my go to for Mexican and comfort food. We've gotten to know some of the staff who remember us, love seeing our toddler and asking how things are going. Some would say they aren't great food wise but I really enjoy the food, staff, service and even if it's only take out. They have plenty of seating and I've never had a bad experience with the atmosphere when dining in. read more

We always get this to go. The food is hot, filling and I feel like you get a good quantity for the price.

Over priced. Fair tasting food nothing out of the ordinary . Timely order. Polite positive service.

I have been coming here with my wife for over 13 years. We haven't been here in a while though. My wife has been coming here for at least 25 years and it has been one of her favorite places to eat. We walked in today and the restaurant smells musty. Like the carpets got wet and molded. The food was good except the hamburger was very bland. My wife was so disappointed. The service was good and the waitress was very nice. She was friendly and helpful. The two stars are for her. read more

The lunch special prices and portion sealed the deal! It's also nice their lunch hour is until 3 p.m. Plus under $10 can get you a gigantic burrito (literally big enough for three meals for me). The free chips and salsa were also quite addicting to eat before the meal. read more

Geez, this is awful. Unauthentic Mexican food, served in a place with zero ambiance, and unethusiastic wait staff. $50 for two entrees and two drinks. The upside? It's the only place in town where you can have a meal that requires silverware. I read a review online somewhere that suggested if you wanted Mexican food in the area, go into the nastiest looking Mexican grocery you can find, and get tacos from them. I would have to agree. But good luck finding great dining in Yakima, too. Most of the places we wanted to check out, have long since vanished from the scene. read more

Great food and great service. Staff is always kind and friendly and their alcoholic drinks to go are so delicious. Portions are generous and the food is terrific! read more

This place has not changed in decades. If you need to get your 80's mauve color fix. This is the place to be. The place is clean. Staff is polite. The salsa has some heat. Which is nice for me. The food excellent read more

One of only a few sit down dining restaurants in our small town, this place rarely disappoints. I love their steak fajitas and also their arroz con pollo. They also make a great tortilla soup. Most of the staff are very friendly and the restaurant is always clean. read more

Great food. It does need to be redecorated, not much ambiance . Friendly wait staff, fast fast service, good margaritas, fair price. I would eat there again. read more

So very disappointed in this restaurant. In tonight's dinner we thought we try something different so we both ordered taco salad there was no taco shell they had slimy corn tortilla on the bottom of the salad they threw a few tortilla chips on top, kept trying to find tomatoes or olives or beans, didn't find ANYTHING only lettuce and chicken sour cream on top with a spoon full of guacamole so bland in taste very very disappointed .. Sorry elcrappeo u lost a customer and there family ... read more

Avg. Food/Price and consistently poor service. Sneaky large charges for anything extra

Pretty standard Mexican restaurant, with average pricing and food. The service was very friendly and attentive. Overall, I would eat here again if in the area, but will probably not go out of my way to make it happen. read more

Excellent service, great fresh food. BIG portions. Clean, reasonably priced. "I'll Be Back". I wish they had a location in Seattle area. Muy Bien. read more

A good lunch stop on the way home. Ample portions of tasty food. The place could use a little better lighting but the employees were super helpful and nice. Would definitely stop here again if in the area. read more

Good service. My tortilla soup was nothing more than pre-cooked chicken breast cut into cubes extremely expensive. Most places you can get the soup for 6-7 dollars a bowl but they give you a large one for 13$. Very disappointing. read more

Chips and salsa are amazing!!!! Went here this last weekend and it was really good. I am vegetarian and think there may have been lard in their beans, which I don't eat. But other than that, it was fantastic! read more

I ordered a taco salad and thought it was pretty good until I noticed that my lettuce still had ice on it. I started to look around and the place is pretty dirty including the silver wear. Last time I ever go to this place. read more

Love this spot. Whenever in Selah looking for Mexican food this is where we go! Margarita's on point. Carne asada on point.

Love this restaurant! The service is fantastic and the food is always consistently good. You never have to worry that you might be disappointed as every meal is delicious! read more

This is the best Mexican food you're going to find in Selah. The service and food is always great we will sometimes order to go items for lunch and bring it back to work and make the rest of the employees jealous. The chips and salsa is really good they make great salsa and hey, everybody knows you're going to eat chips and salsa before you have your meal . Carne Asada is great something popular with a lot of people is the macho burrito, Arros Con Pollo and steak fajitas are good also. They have all the usual domestic beers and a wide variety of imported Mexican beers. If you order a margarita be sure to ask for Don Julio or Patron because the brown bottle house tequila is something close to rubbing alcohol. read more

So I come home to visit but also to shove my fat face full of delicious foods. El Caporal is one of those places you stop in at. Prices are a little high, salsa isn't the best, but Dammmmmnnnn they make a good enchilada and a damn good chile relleno. They aren't afraid of cheese either and I like the way that deliciousness smothers my fork and slides down the belly like a slip n slide. So good. Salsa needs some work, and prices seem high but I guess when they are that generous with the cheese you can't complain. read more

Worst service ever. This used to be a great restaurant to stop at when visiting Selah. Our waiter was slow, took over an hour for our food (the restaurant was almost completely empty) and then he proceeds to argue with us about the order after he forgot to place the order, then demanded we pay a tip. read more

Decent mexican food, great for lunch

Overall the food is great but the service on our last trip there was terrible! I think we seen the waiter a total for 3 times during our time their and that included ordering. We heard one of the girls working their that she was "wet" not sure in what way but she was loud about it. I'll go back again but with service like that I'm not leaving a tip! read more

Terrible service, over priced for medeocre food. Ordered good with extra chicken, was charged $8.40 more for the same amount of chicken as my friend who got regular! Hah this place is a joke all around! read more

Love this place! This is my go to place for Mexican food! Great food and portions for a decent price! Great drinks as well! Service is awesome! The employees are super nice and helpful! read more

Great! Fresh tasty salsa, warm chips and really tasty dinners. Really pleasant place too. Overall a nice experience.

Haven't eaten for for a few years and I have to say that the food has gone down hill. 3 dinners, no alcholic drinks and the bill was $60. I had the combination plate and the only thing good on the plate was the rice. Enchilada didn't have sauce on it, tamale was dry, and chili rellanos was all batter. Everything was buried in cheese. Food was very bland, tasted like it had just come from the microwave. Service was fast and wait staff was courteous and attentive. The interior of this restaurant has not been updated or changed since they opened years ago. Ambience does not justify the prices charged. In an area that is dominated by Mexican restaurants, El Caporal falls short. read more

My wife and I love to eat here. The food is good, and the service is great. Even if we don't go there for awhile, the servers remember us and what we like. They almost always prompt and polite. The place does need remodeled, but we go there for the food, not the furniture. The prices are also very good. I recommend the beef fajitas! read more

Great place to sit down and have a good meal with the family. Good fast and friendly service always help. The food is tasty and in good portions but they by far have the best chips and salsa. I don't know what they are doing that other places aren't but I am not complaining! read more
