Great attentive service. Fun atmosphere with good music. Food was fresh and served hot quickly.

a plate of food on a table

We wandered on in to the spot one evening after a group of us decided we needed some additional food following a dinner. The spot is located in the same area as a Walmart, but it's in the slightly newer area just north of the main building. The place has a really nice vibe to it. There's a good amount of seating, though it is small enough that it does remain somewhat intimate. The majority of the seating is tables and chairs, and the most they could accommodate is around 8 to 10 in a group. We had six, and it was a bit on the crowded side. There's a nice array of food options, including Molcajete, some nice Carnitas plates, and some very good tacos. anywhere that has Molcajete, we get the Molcajete! The presentation of this was excellent, the flavors were lovely, and it was very colorful. It really hit on all different cylinders. The friends we were with had a Carnitas plate, and it was quite lovely. They had a decent cocktail, wine and beer menu. The beer wasn't extensive, but there were a number of good Mexican and central American options. Really the only check against this place was the price of some of the items. They were definitely not giving it away! I can absolutely appreciate paying more for quality stuff, and the stuff was very good... It was just hard to justify paying $30 for Molcajete. That said, I will probably do it again the next time we go. the spot is definitely categorized into the higher end, Mexican spots, similar to Xochimilco in town. Good spot to go with a group of friends or family, but where you're not expecting to get two dollar tacos. We will definitely be back.

We just went to Grand Monarca for the first time and had Ceviche to go. Though the ceviche tasted amazing, we were disappointed that it was not mixed. We payed +$2 for shrimp and we honestly thought that it meant it would be mixed with fish and shrimp (this is our mistake for not checking with the staff and making our own assumptions), I also didn't think the portion was worth that price; the picture shown in another yelp review seemed to have more (maybe because they ate at the restaurant vs to go). Eitherway, we will come back in the future and order some other dishes that looked good as well.

Stopped in for an early dinner, ordered the ceviche and birria tacos with a spicy margarita. The spicy margarita was perfect! I would visit again just for the margarita and the ceviche alone! The ceviche is a generous portion with fresh avocado on top. The birria tacos were melty and delicious as well. Knocking a star only for a few reasons, having to ask for water and utensils and a bland salsa. They do also serve warm beans with the salsa which I preferred. Will be back to try more and update! Note: They also have a drive thru if you're like me and prefer to eat at home most evenings

    Cute intimate space.

We had a few friends recommend this place along with awesome Yelp reviews so we decided to try it out. Wow.. so glad we did! Amazing food, amazing service and comfortable seating. The restaurant isn't large but we loved that.. felt more intimate. We went around 5pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crazy busy yet. We sat at a table by the window. Our server was very friendly and patient with us. I ordered the Cadillac Margarita and my husband ordered a bottle of pacifico.. but the bonus was the tall chilled glass with chomoy that the beer came with. That made the beer extra yummy and extra effort on their part. Loved it! We started with shrimp cheviche, amazing. Perfectly seasoned and generous amount. We also shared the carne asada. Huge portions and it easily fed both of us. Meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The quesadilla was one of the best I've ever had.. drooling just reminiscing. Highly highly recommend this establishment for some authentic Mexican food! Kid-friendly as well but also has an awesome bar. Can't wait to come back!

This is the second time I've tried this place. The first time was when it first opened which was not too bad, not a lot of people knew about it specially being part of a new plaza on the Westside. This time around I decided to actually write about it. The time was around noon so the place wasn't too busy so Service was pretty fast with drinks coming in after a couple mins of being there. I ordered a molcajete which I thought would be a great dish to rave about since it comes with a lot of meat, flavor and comes really hot ! I really had wished that they had used a different type of steak for the molcajete for example a piece of skirt steak or something relatively thin, for the pieces they used were really thick and had a lot of nerve, fat. The chicken was real good, cooked thoroughly with flavor on its own while the sausage, which traditionally, the plate combines itself a piece of hot sausage like chorizo but in this case they substituted with a hot link and was not really pleased with that option. The side dish was a bed of Rice and beans which to my expectations were good with flavor. The drink I ordered was a Piñacolada and it was very delicious! For a simple lunch date this is a place I'd recommend though for dinner or something bigger there are plenty of Mexican restaurants with much more variety.

My family and I came here for lunch and I have to say the ceviche here is hands the best in Yakima. The seafood was fresh and delicious The service was very friendly as well. we loved the beans and salsa with the chips they gave us while we waited. And the restaurant was very clean and had great vibes and good taste of music. I will give this restaurant all stars 5/5! This is a hidden gem and will definitely be back for sure.

    Huge delicious shrimp!

Excellent service, 10 out of 10 on the food, good location, and love the interior design so different from other Mexican restaurants in Yakima. Would definitely come again. Thanks for the delicious food Armando

Food is okay, portions are small for the price. I do like their refried beans but it's too spendy for me.

Came on a lovely late spring day. We had our dog with us and they let us sit on the patio, which…read morewas nice. They even brought out an umbrella to keep us a bit shaded from the sun. They brought out refreshing cups of water, chips and 6 types of salsa, while we reviewed the menu. The "chips" are actually whole corn tortillas fried! So you use them whole or break them into chips yourself. My guess on the salsas are: salsa verde (tomatillo), avocado, pico de gallo, a smoky ancho, a citrusy habanero, and something else. They all had distinct flavors and a little light spice, but we wanted spicier. They brought out the "no way Jose" sauce and warned us it's their spiciest and it sneaks up on ya! We tried it and found it was not burning but quite nice. We drizzled this sauce all over our food. It was the most flavorful of the bunch. The menu is quite extensive, with everything from sopas to sopes, tortas to tacos, cocktails to desserts. We each got a plate of food, meaning the main entree comes with Mexican red rice and refried beans. I got the sopita (aka sope) with barbacoa and a fish taco and husband got a dipped torta (I forget the name) filled with adobada. The amount of food and meat was quite generous, the toppings (veggies) too. I really enjoyed my sope - it had the perfect crispy crust and I could taste the slightly sweet creamy taste of the masa. The barbacoa was not as flavorful as I thought it would be. It was more like stewed beef meat. It was fine but I was expecting really deep flavor. The fish taco seemed freshly grilled and was moist, but there was a bit of a "fishy" smell and flavor that kind of took over. Thankfully, the generous veggie toppings and fresh handmade corn tortilla and salsas helped mask the flavor. Have to hand it to them that those tortillas are really good! The Mexican rice was perfect. I haven't had that flavor and texture in Mexican rice in a while and thought that was well done. The refried beans were good but also had a flavor I couldn't place my finger on... My husband said everything was really good on his plate. His torta was massive! Really flavorful and stacked with things. The adobada was very tasty. I wish I ordered that meat instead of the barbacoa and fish. Overall pretty good Mexican food, generous portions, really sweet service. The interior is also really clean and nicely decorated. They have a small parking lot out back.

The staff is friendly and efficient, which makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed lunch. The restaurant is medium sized with adequate parking out front, and if things get busy, there's plenty of overflow in the adjacent Fred Meyer lot. The restaurant is in the middle of the strip mall just north of Fred Meyer. My spouse ordered the Avocado Tostada, which was generously sized and clearly delicious--he ate more than usual. It came with rice and refried beans, both well prepared. I used to order the Cheese/Onion Enchilada plate, which includes two enchiladas plus rice and beans, and I'd always end up taking half home (never quite the same reheated). Since my appetite is smaller, I now ask for just one cheese/onion enchilada on its own. The staff never blinks at the request, and my husband happily shares a bit of his refried beans with me. My meal was perfection. Definitely worth checking out. It's not the most extraordinary Mexican food in the area, but it's always very good--better than we can make at home--and that's why we keep coming back.

There were three of us dining, and when our food came out, only two meals were delivered. We waited patiently and a second server came and noticed we had not received our third meal. He went to the kitchen and had conversation with the staff, and one of the servers had delivered our third meal to another table so two of us only had our dinner and we started to eat. One of the guests in our party went to open their burrito, and there was no meat in it, and it was specifically a beef burrito. Another server came again took the burrito back to the kitchen, and it was the wrong order. They made a new burrito and by this time the third entrée came out so we essentially all ate our dinner at different times because they were not delivered at the same time which was awkward. When the bill came the one entrée that was delivered correctly was overcharged and there was no mention of an up charge for a cream sauce on the enchilada. I questioned the server and she explained that the cream sauce was more expensive. I have no problem with an upcharge if it's listed on the menu. The prices at this restaurant are a little high. The food was just OK. I shared my experience with the person that recommended this restaurant and they were shocked as they dine in there regularly. I hope this was just an off night for them, but based on my experience, I would not return.
